Poll: Bush Leads Obama By 8

No wonder why President Obama has gone all-in with non-stop Bush-bashing. Having decided that running against the ex-president was the best hope the Democrats have for avoiding a November massacre, the first poll on the contrived "race" shows Obama trailing. Badly.

Pollster Tom Jensen, of the Democratic-leaning
Public Policy Polling, delivers the bad news:

We'll start rolling out our Ohio poll results tomorrow but there's one finding on the poll that pretty much sums it up: by a 50-42 margin voters there say they'd rather have George W. Bush in the White House right now than Barack Obama.

Independents hold that view by a 44-37 margin and there are more Democrats who would take Bush back (11%) than there are Republicans who think Obama's preferable (3%.)

There's not much doubt things are getting worse for Democrats...and they were already pretty bad...

Jennifer Rubin snarks wonderfully:

Obama has, for his entire candidacy and presidency, blamed Bush for practically everything. He has contorted his predecessor’s policy decisions — including downplaying all talk of democracy promotion and reversing a reasonable approach to terrorist prosecutions – in order to be the not-Bush president. But now, the public likes Bush better. Think of that. Recall how reviled — unfairly, very unfairly, I would submit — Bush was at the end of his term. And in a mere 18 months, the public has decided that for all his shortcomings, he was a better president than the guy who is there now.

The question is, now what? The Democrats need to demagogue; their own internal polls tell them they cannot speak to their so-called "legislative accomplishments" - ObamaCare, the stimulus, the GM bailout - without getting pelted with rotten fruit. Bashing their old bogeyman Bush seemed like the way out, I suppose, but it was a strategy doomed to fail, perceived correctly by the electorate as creating & blaming a scapegoat as opposed to actually having ideas and an agenda - well, at least an agenda they were willing to talk about.

So now that a retired George W. Bush has become a target too tough for the Left to bring down (and wasn't he always?), the Democrats need another scapegoat, another strawman, anything to strike fear into the American people's hearts and distract them from the socialization of America.

So if you can't blame Bush...who ya gonna blame?

The answer is going to be...us:

Hating your countrymen is the new patriotism

..liberals don’t hate America, they simply hate Americans, especially when they won’t go along with such obviously good things such as President Obama’s healthcare law, “economic stimulus” spending, nationalizing student loans, unilaterally disarming American nuclear weapons, or raising taxes in an anemic economy.

To oppose liberalism is thus not only intellectually incorrect, it is also an affront to common decency....

Leftists always, throughout history, have turned on the people who have given them power, and attempted to purge the non-believers. I doubt we'll see death camps here, but we will see a full, unbridled hatred of the American people - and their ignorance, their racism, their Islamophobia - unleashed by both the political class and the mainstream media, in a furious rage against a nation that is rejecting their ideology.

How ugly will it get? That depends on what Barack Obama allows. And based on the way he has comported himself in the last 20 months...expect it to get very ugly indeed.
