God may not play dice with the universe, as Einstein said, but he does like his dramas to contain heavy doses of irony. Irritated at times with the inability of some to see his subtleties, God will often dollop it out thick. And when the recipient has the undeserved titled of Reverend before his name, well...even He is allowed to chortle at His own work:
Following the embarrassing news that Mayor Dave Bing’s GMC Yukon was hijacked by criminals this week, Detroit’s Channel 7 reports that the Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Caddy Escalade SUV was stolen and stripped of its wheels while he was in town last weekend with the UAW’s militant President Bob King leading the “Jobs, Justice, and Peace” march promoting government-funded green jobs.
Yup, you read that correctly - Jesse Jackson was rolling in a gas-guzzling, road-hoggin', environment-killing Monster SUV as he spoke about the need off the government to use taxpayer dollars to create alternative transportation. Not for him, though. He likes his SUV just fine. Hands off. But for you - well, a little 40-mile range hybrid is just about right.
God hates hypocrisy, Reverend. Always has, you know....and even petty thieves can be made to serve His will, albeit unwittingly, if He feels the need to send you a little message.
Henry Payne gets God's little joke, even if Reverend Jesse misses the point:
His SUV has been stripped by thugs – a fitting metaphor for what Jesse and his pals have done to the auto industry for the last 35 years...
