Class, Jersey-Style!

We often talk in analogies about politicians "spitting on", or "pissing on", the electorate, but it takes a Jersey Pol to have the smarts to put it into actual practice:

A drunken Jersey City councilman was arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of a Washington nightclub, police and club sources said Saturday.

Councilman Steven Lipski was caught relieving himself onto several revelers at the 9:30 Club during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute band Friday night, club sources said.
"He was very drunk," the source said, noting that it wasn't the first time Lipski had caused a ruckus at the popular concert venue.

We've dealt with this man before," the source added. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."

The story doesn't list Lipski's party affiliation, which usually means that the offender is a Democrat. Lipski is a challenging case; I could find little mention of his party affiliation anywhere, except for his mention here as an opportunistic Democratic switchee, and the obvious fact that he is an elected official in a overwhelmingly Democratic city in a blue state.

This might shine some light as well; Mr. Lipski appeared at a certain dinner party in Washington to see a certain Democrat and watch a certain band just after the November 2006 elections:

Nancy Pelosi’s dinner party at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C....The facts are that the “House Band” consisted of Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Bruce Hornsby, Mickey Hart, Mike Gordon and Warren Haynes.

Several city council people from various cities were there. Jersey City Councilman Steve Lipski told the Washington Post "I am here to witness history in the making, the first woman speaker of the House, and to see members of the Grateful Dead perform.”

Can you find Steven Lipski in this photograph? He was there....

When you find a Republican that goes to Nancy Pelosi's parties, and apparently travels nationwide to watch Dead cover bands and psuedo-Dead reunions, while urinating on the commoners, let me know. In the meanwhile, we'll safely assume that Mr. Lipski is a proud Democrat, as well as an embarrassment to the state of New Jersey.

But hey - he only acted out in reality what New Jersey Democrats do to us every day, legislatively...maybe he deserves some type of "Honesty in Government" award...?

UPDATE: His Democrat-ness has been confirmed, thanks to the comment section:
Yes, I am a Democrat, but I have always put people before politics...

Insert your own urination joke here...

Couldn't find any listing for Lipski except that he ran for Jersey City Mayor on the Reform party ticket; Lipski had Brett Schundler's tacit backing according to one item I read http://www.jerseycityonline.com/nov2nd2004.htm so a Democrat? I think not. He wasn't with a young boy, so he probably wasn't a Republican either.

Like Barney Frank? He likes boys.

Lipski has been bought and paid for by Joe Panepinto, and thats where he learned the pissing thing. Anyone who knows Joe P, knows he is famous for getting drunk and pissing on peoples feet! He even did it to his son inlaw, Dan Reiser when he found out he was cheating on his daughter.

Whenever an old media source fails to include the party affiliation of a disgraced politician, you can bet your back side that the politician is a Democrat. If the disgraced politician were a Republican, his party affiliation would be included in the first paragraph, most likely the first sentence.

And, as usual, that general rule of thumb holds true in this case as well. Just a little checking revealed that Steve Lipski is indeed a Democrat.

Google this phrase (in quotes) - "Yes, I am a Democrat, but I have always put people before politics."
Make sure you include the quotation marks and you will get only one result. This -

Our media could not be more of a disappointment if they tried.

Thank you Tenacious; I will add an update.

But you're correct, it is straight out of page one of the "MSM Biased Reporting Handbook" - if a Republican commits the sin, mention it in paragraph one, if it's a Democrat, avoid the subject of party affiliation entirely, unless you have the room to mention 20 Republicans who have done the same, or worse...

Wow, a Democrat! What a surprise. Even more than Phil Lesh & Friends, those boys are as close to The Grateful Dead as you're going to get. Obviously.

Maybe Eliot Spitzer will hire this Lipski fellow, now that his political career is dead too.

absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
you can ALWAYS blame Bush

if Obama and Congress
ALL Democrats make things worse

There's an online petition demanding that Lipiski account for some $17K that is missing. Perhaps he pissed it all away...

Just came across your blog after reading about Lipski & doing a bit of research myself. I will be a regular reader now! And I also found that Lipski is a dyed in the wool dem.

Moral of the sory: You can put Lipski on a pig but it's still a pig.
