The United States 2010: Life Under The Occupation

May you live in interesting times, goes the Chinese curse, and are these days and nights interesting indeed. When a government no longer has the consent of the governed, said government is no longer acting with legal authority (or so says the Declaration, anyway - silly white men, what did they know?). And when the government continues to act by decree, and infringe upon the freedoms of its citizens, confiscate their income, and wage war unilaterally...that's tyranny.

Welcome to America, 2010. And you wonder why it feels as if we are being occupied by a foreign power? Look at the actions of those who have seized control of the state:

-the looting the national treasury, to the tune of $787 billion (plus interest), in the name of "stimulus". Monies were spent almost entirely on pet liberal projects and on funding to keep government functionaries employed. This will need to be paid back by the private sector, via taxation.

-a complete takeover of the economy, via the EPA's claim that "carbon dioxide" (yes, the air you exhale) is a "greenhouse gas" that must be regulated. Since most businesses to some extent or another emit CO2, the entirety of the world's largest economy is now, without vote or law, under the purview of the executive branch of the government. It's command-and-control, Soviet-style. Anyone remember how well that worked out?

-elimination of control & choice over your body via the nationalization of the health care system (also, apparently, via fiat). Costs will skyrocket, resources will become scarce, and the quality and quantity of care will drop for everyone. Eventually, the nation will be forced into a British or Canadian-style "NHS", where bureaucrats will decide who will live and who will die by the rationing of care and medication that is already de rigor in these two nations. This will also give the government opportunity to regulate much of your eating/drinking habits, since your individuality is now lost in morass of "what's best for 'the people'". Not to mention that the government now fully intends to start funding abortion - the killing of humans - under the guise of "national health" as well.

-indoctrination of children. Attached to the health care bill is a rider that will nationalize the student loan industry, and make the government the sole provider of said loans. Thus, the affordability of college will no longer be up to parents, or local bankers - it will be up to the government. So you'd better play ball. After all, the president has signed legislation increasing Americorps to 250,000 "volunteers" - so if your kid wants to go to school, he'd better put on the brownshirt and work for Obama first...

-Obama has unleashed war upon the Israelis for refusing to cede their sovereign territories to a hostile power. He forced a regional crisis in Central America when he threw his support behind a leftist thug who was legally ousted from the Honduran government. He has reneged on deals to protect our European allies with missile defense. And he is allowing the Iranians to build nukes with impunity, even as they promise to use them to create a Second Holocaust. All positions anathema to the American population. None of which bothers Obama and the Democrats a bit.

-even our cherished national symbols are being desecrated, as the army is ordered not to fly the American flag...

Limiting freedoms. Loss of control of daily decisions. Children forced to serve the leadership. Monies extorted from the citizenry. National symbols eliminated. Businesses controlled. Populations "aborted". Treasure looted. Legislative processes ignored and mocked.

Welcome to the Occupation of America.

So what does that pesky Declaration say about this? Oh, yeah:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness....

It's frightening to see what this country has become. My great grandparents must be rolling in their graves. They left this for a better life.
