Predicting since 2000 there was a "housing bubble" that was soon to burst? Jeez, talk about common knowledge and a broken clock being right two times a day...
More likely this prize - like most Nobels - has much less to do with expertise in his field of knowledge than his relentless, partisan Bush-bashing over the last eight years. That's what those judges are really looking for; just ask Nobel "winner" Al Gore....
How poor is this selection? You are talking about a columnist admonished by his own paper's ombudsman:
In his May 22, 2005 farewell column, New York Times ombudsman Daniel Okrent stated: "Op-Ed columnist Paul Krugman has the disturbing habit of shaping, slicing and selectively citing numbers in a fashion that pleases his acolytes but leaves him open to substantive assaults." Okrent did not initially provide specific examples for his view, but a few days later was drawn from retirement into an email back-and-forth with Krugman wherein he listed several specific instances, publicly hosted by the new ombudsman's column....

Vote With Pride! Vote With Rage! Vote With Smug Satisfaction!
Via Erica, I've discovered a Florida blogger who can make lemonade out of the frickin' lemon the 2008 election is turning into. But before I get to the Dogette, I need to vent a moment, then I can segue....
Pick up the paper, and it seems as if the presidential election is already over and won. Not only are the Democrats turning every McCain criticism of Obama into a Dixie Lynching, the media is gleefully playing along, with its own racists making sh*t up along the way.
McCain is to blame, in large part - how dare he take the media's/Obama's cue and admonish his own supporters for being "angry"? He is being played by the media, instead of playing them (a la Bush), and by reinforcing their false negatives he is only making their case stronger and his case weaker.
The normally mild Glenn Reynolds gets a bit worked up here:
So we've had nearly 8 years of lefty assassination fantasies about George W. Bush, and Bill Ayers' bombing campaign is explained away as a consequence of him having just felt so strongly about social justice, but a few people yell things at McCain rallies and suddenly it's a sign that anger is out of control in American politics?
The Angry Left has gotten away with all sorts of beyond-the-pale behavior throughout the Bush Administration. The double standards involved -- particularly on the part of the press -- are what are feeding this anger.

No matter. I will crawl over broken glass, if need be, to go vote for McCain-Palin on election day — no matter what the press or polls say. I don’t care if a Very Important & Accurate National Poll taken the night before says Obama is leading by 98 points to McCain’s 2. I don’t care if they announce a statistical confirmed victory for Obama and start papering the public walls with his picture for us to worship and salute. I’m going to vote for McCain-Palin.
That way, if Obama wins, I’ll at least be able to enjoy the fact that I canceled out one idiot in a cone bra.

Brilliant. Jim's already got Springsteen, maybe I can take Bon Jovi? Or maybe just knowing that I canceled out the vote of the Big Jersey Dog himself, Jon Corzine, will be enough to fulfill me on election day...

Economic Philosophy...
...should really be part of an overall philosophy, as Ronald Reagan's was.
But alas, philosophy presupposes a certain amount of lucid intellectualism, which we as a nation are shockingly bereft of at this critical juncture. The products of our "Ivy League" schools are a sorry bunch - see Barack Obama, John Kerry, Barney Frank and the once-Masters of Wall Street - and those who do try to speak thoughtfully on an issue (which usually requires taking a stand) are shouted down by partisan interests.
The other day I quoted Milton Friedman at length - an economic philosopher, true, but one who had a macro-worldview that matched his monetary policies - and now I turn to Ayn Rand, whose philosophical novels where as much about lifestyle and politics as they were capitalism.
Sayeth Ann:
Government "help" to business is just as disastrous as government persecution... the only way a government can be of service to national prosperity is by keeping its hands off.
Barack Obama would laugh at you, Ms. Rand, as his philosophical mentors include your antithesis - socialists like Bill Ayers and the like....he knows better, he went to Harvard...
From the smallest necessity to the highest religious abstraction, from the wheel to the skyscraper, everything we are and everything we have comes from one attribute of man - the function of his reasoning mind.
And where is the reason in sloganeering phrases such as "hope" and "change"? There is none; does it follow that America has lost its power to reason? And is that why we no longer have the need for philosophers?
Which brings me to this forboding exchange from Atlas Shrugged:
Woman at party: "When a politician or a movie star retires, we read front page stories about it. But when a philosopher retires, people do not even notice it."
Francisco: "They do....eventually."
Prophetic. We are not at "eventually" yet, but we are pretty damn close...

The End of Capitalism is Nigh!
No, that's not the Kremlin circa 1957, it's the Washington Post, circa today, playing its role as one of the ignorant voices I mentioned yesterday.
They are softening up the ground for an Obama presidency, providing him with cover and air support for the drastic change our radical socialist plans to impose upon ths great country:
The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression is claiming another casualty: American-style capitalism...
The government's about-face goes beyond the banking industry. It is reasserting itself in the lives of citizens in ways that were unthinkable in the era of market-knows-best thinking
Note the points casually being asserted: Capitalism is already over, and a socialist-style government is already taking hold. What's insinuated? Elect Barack Obama, and let a real socialist do the job right!
And of course the Post drives home the "fact" the world hates us (again), because all of their problems are our fault (wow, that's a new thought), and incidentally, we've lost all of our credibility (again):
People around the world once admired us for our economy, and we told them if you wanted to be like us, here's what you have to do -- hand over power to the market," said Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel Prize-winning economist at Columbia University. "The point now is that no one has respect for that kind of model anymore given this crisis. And of course it raises questions about our credibility. Everyone feels they are suffering now because of us."
How come the WaPo didn't cite all the "Nobel Prize-winning economists" who blasted Obama's tax and spend policies the other day? Don't answer, I know, let's just keep the madness rolling:

Barack Obama: Magician, Grifter, Con Man !
Kimberly Strassel's pen drips with sarcasm in the WSJ today, and it's good stuff:
And now, America, we introduce the Great Obama! The world's most gifted political magician! A thing of wonder. A thing of awe. Just watch him defy politics, economics, even gravity! (And hold your applause until the end, please.)
To kick off our show tonight, Mr. Obama will give 95% of American working families a tax cut, even though 40% of Americans today don't pay income taxes! How can our star enact such mathemagic? How can he "cut" zero? Abracadabra! It's called a "refundable tax credit." It involves the federal government taking money from those who do pay taxes, and writing checks to those who don't. Yes, yes, in the real world this is known as "welfare," but please try not to ruin the show.
For his next trick, the Great Obama will jumpstart the economy, and he'll do it by raising taxes on the very businesses that are today adrift in a financial tsunami! That will include all those among the top 1% of taxpayers who are in fact small-business owners, and the nation's biggest employers who currently pay some of the highest corporate tax rates in the developed world. Mr. Obama will, with a flick of his fingers, show them how to create more jobs with less money. It's simple, really. He has a wand.
Next up, Mr. Obama will re-regulate the economy, with no ill effects whatsoever! ....Our magician will show the fault was instead with our failure to clamp down on innovation and risk-taking, and will fix this with new, all-encompassing rules. Presto!
Did someone in the audience just shout "Sarbanes Oxley?" Usher, can you remove that man? Thank you.
And just watch the Great Obama perform a feat never yet managed in all history. He will create that enormous new government health program, spend billions to transform our energy economy, provide financial assistance to former Soviet satellites, invest in infrastructure, increase education spending, provide job training assistance, and give 95% of Americans a tax (ahem) cut -- all without raising the deficit a single penny! And he'll do it in the middle of a financial crisis. And with falling tax revenues! Voila!
Obama promises change, but he simply cannot make the vast institutional overhaul he is touting, not without wrecking the economy and reducing us all to the same shared just-above-poverty-level state.
But maybe this is the "fairness" that the socialist Barack Obama hopes to bring about through his "change". All as one, writhing in the mud....America, reduced to third world status as a beautific Barack smiles down upon us.
With the markets volatile (yeah, like it's never happened before) and ignorant voices calling for more and more "reform", is it safe (or sane) to give the reins of the economy over to the unseasoned Barack Obama - friend of radical Bill Ayers, disciple of Reverand Jermiah Wright, and supporter of ACORN?
With the excuse of a "crisis", American capitalism - the prime mover of the world - will be downgraded by Obama and the Democrats from a eight-cylinder Mustang to a three-cylinder Metro. And while Americans sink deeper and deeper into poverty and despair, they will tell us it is all for our own good, as the Left has proven itself ideologically rigid; incapable of correlating cause and effect. And besides, the decaying of American society may be the desired effect; after all, isn't that what Ayers/Wright/Obama have been preaching all these years?
This is the change that Obama believes in. God help us all....

Blue-State Sports Columnist Turns Purple Over A Red Pennsylvania !
Ah, there's no media idiocy like the idiocy that comes from sports columnists with a political vendetta, even when it comes from the New York Post's hockey icon, Larry Brooks. And guess who he is all worked up about, who is a disgrace to the game of hockey?
That's right, Sarah Palin...hockey mom/devil incarnate:

Tomorrow night, when the Flyers play their home opener against the Rangers, Gov. Sarah Palin will drop the ceremonial first puck in what Snider's team is positioning as an homage to hockey moms.

...he is intent on transforming a sports arena into the political arena. He is creating an environment in which partisan politics, not hockey rooting interest, might well create dangerous disruption in the stands. This is behavior worthy of league sanctions.

Barack Obama, trying to fill Ronald Regan's shoes. Has this nation at long last lost its divine providence?
McCain has 100 signatures from 100 economists (including five winners of the Nobel prize in the matter) on a statement decrying Obama's insane fiscal policies:
Barack Obama argues that his proposals to raise tax rates and halt international trade agreements would benefit the American economy. They would do nothing of the sort. Economic analysis and historical experience show that they would do the opposite. They would reduce economic growth and decrease the number of jobs in America. Moreover, with the credit crunch, the housing slump, and high energy prices weakening the U.S. economy, his proposals run a high risk of throwing the economy into a deep recession. It was exactly such misguided tax hikes and protectionism, enacted when the U.S. economy was weak in the early 1930s, that greatly increased the severity of the Great Depression.
At this point, I don't think a million signatures would make a difference...

Camille Paglia on Sarah Palin....
....well, that foul-mouth feminist finally got something right, although to her credit she is less dogmatically inclined than her sisters at NOW. Anyway, she speaks of the treatment of the Sweet and Saucy Sarah thusly:
The mountain of rubbish poured out about Palin over the past month would rival Everest. What a disgrace for our jabbering army of liberal journalists and commentators, too many of whom behaved like snippy jackasses. The bourgeois conventionalism and rank snobbery of these alleged humanitarians stank up the place. As for Palin's brutally edited interviews with Charlie Gibson and that viper, Katie Couric, don't we all know that the best bits ended up on the cutting-room floor? Something has gone seriously wrong with Democratic ideology, which seems to have become a candied set of holier-than-thou bromides attached like tutti-frutti to a quivering green Jell-O mold of adolescent sentimentality.
And where is all that lurid sexual fantasy coming from? When I watch Sarah Palin, I don't think sex -- I think Amazon warrior! I admire her competitive spirit and her exuberant vitality, which borders on the supernormal. The question that keeps popping up for me is whether Palin, who was born in Idaho, could possibly be part Native American (as we know her husband is), which sometimes seems suggested by her strong facial contours...
One of the most idiotic allegations batting around out there among urban media insiders is that Palin is "dumb." Are they kidding? What level of stupidity is now par for the course in those musty circles? (The value of Ivy League degrees, like sub-prime mortgages, has certainly been plummeting. As a Yale Ph.D., I have a perfect right to my scorn.) People who can't see how smart Palin is are trapped in their own narrow parochialism -- the tedious, hackneyed forms of their upper-middle-class syntax and vocabulary.

Ah, the nuggets the web will turn up...including a recipe for "Sweet and Saucy Salmon" as prepared by "Alaska Fisherman Sarah Palin - Wasilla, Alaska".
And to think, she could have been VP....
Because we love Sarah, and hope that she can be part of the 2012 resurrection of the party (along with Eric Cantor and Bobby Jindal), we will help the cause by reprinting her recipe in full:
1 can (12 oz.) tomato sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup molases
3 tbsp. ketchup
2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp. dried minced onion
1 tbsp. Worcestershure sauce
1 tbsp. mustard
1 tbsp. dried bell pepper dices
1/4 tsp. each cinnamon and nutmeg
4 to 6 Alaska salmon fillets or steaks (4 to 6 oz. each)
Blend all ingredients, except seafood, in bowl; let set 10 to 15 minutes. Dip seafood into sauce, then place on hot oiled grill, not directly over heat source (coals or gas). Cover and vent. Cook about 6 to 12 minutes per inch of thickness, brushing with extra sauce, if desired. Do not overcook or burn edges.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
Also great with Alaska halibut or cod!

So - you have a national audience last night, the story about a presidential candidate's close ties to an unrepentent terrorist is finally breaking through into the public conciousness, and you beat him over the head with it, right?
No. You ignore it, like it doesn't matter. And the rest of the nation (and the media) thinks to themselves, "Well, if there was anything really behind those stories about Barack Obama's ties to radical leftists, McCain for sure would have brought it up. Guess there is no "there" there..."
You let him slip away, John, and you may have let the election slip away as well. You left Sarah Palin out to dry, you left many of your supporters staring open-mouthed, and you gave undecided voters very little to work with.

Hang Your Head In Shame, Racist! I Mean, Homophobe! Yeah, That's The Ticket...
Michelle Obama opened her mouth again, and as always, something insanely stupid came rolling out. What a fine first lady she would be!
Here's Reverand Wright's little girl, speaking on AIDS:
"What he knows is that we have to have funding to support HIV testing," Michelle Obama said. "It is still something that doesn't happen in this country primarily because of homophobia."
From the Sun-Times article, we hear a heartwarming reassurance:
...Obama was introduced as "a great friend to the LGBT [Lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender] community."
Whew! Good to know our next president is concerned about the plight of the "bisexual transgender" community, whoever the f**k they are.....
Jennifer Rubin makes the point:
....Michelle Obama is at it again — claiming we don’t spend enough on AIDS testing because we are a bunch of homophobes. Well, in fiscal year 2006 (the most recent one I could access in fifteen minutes of painstaking research), I found that we as a country spent over $2.8B on AIDS-related programs.
Maybe we should have spent $3B or $5B or $100B. But the reflexive assumption that failure to spend billions more on whatever she deems the highest priority of the day stems from discrimination or hatred is disturbing to say the least.
In the Obamas' (plural intentional) administration, all criticism will be labeled as racism. Or some other kind of " 'ism ".
Can anyone tell me who builds re-education camps these days? After all the losses the market has taken lately, I need a sure thing to invest in come 2009....

Do Facts Matter?
Thomas Sowell can't believe what he's seeing, or hearing. Neither can I, but since he expresses himself better:
Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time."
Unfortunately, the future of this country, as well as the fate of the Western world, depends on how many people can be fooled on election day, just a few weeks from now.
Right now, the polls indicate that a whole lot of the people are being fooled a whole lot of the time.
It raises the question: Do facts matter? Or is Obama's rhetoric and the media's spin enough to make facts irrelevant....
The media alone are not alone in keeping the facts from the public. Republicans, for reasons unknown, don't seem to know what it is to counter-attack.
But the country does not deserve to be put in the hands of a glib and cocky know-it-all, who has accomplished absolutely nothing beyond the advancement of his own career with rhetoric, and who has for years allied himself with a succession of people who have openly expressed their hatred of America.
Glad Palin and McCain are finally raising the issue. Too little, too late? We'll know next month...

Obama/Ayers - The Smoking Gun?
Let's go back to 1997, to learn about an exciting panel discussion taking place at the University of Chicago:
Children who kill are called "super predators," "people with no conscience," "feral pre-social beings" -- and "adults."
William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court (Beacon Press, 1997), says "We should call a child a child. A 13-year-old who picks up a gun isn't suddenly an adult. We have to ask other questions: How did he get the gun? Where did it come from?"
Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop....
Ayers will be joined by Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the Law School, who is working to combat legislation that would put more juvenile offenders into the adult system....
The juvenile justice system was founded by Chicago reformer Jane Addams, who advocated the establishment of a separate court system for children which would act like a "kind and just parent" for children in crisis.
One hundred years later, the system is "overcrowded, under-funded, over-centralized and racist," Ayers said.
Michelle Obama, Associate Dean of Student Services and Director of the University Community Service Center, hopes bringing issues like this to campus will open a dialogue between members of the University community and the broader community.
So this is a guy you know strictly "from the neighborhood"? Looks to me like Ayers and the Obamas were all in agreement on this issue (letting violent teenagers offenders remain free in order to become violent adult offenders), and it's hard for Obama to profess no relationship with Ayers when they sat shoulder-to-shoulder (I wish I had a picture - imagine Ayers sandwiched between Barack and Michelle?) on panels like this together, arguing the same side of an issue.
Yeah, it's a smoking gun, but the media doesn't care - if Barack Obama walked into a press conference peeling off bloody gloves, reporters would fawn over his manicured fingernails...
The brilliant Mark Levin gives voice to some of the helpless rage I am feeling here:
Obama is not merely associated with domestic terrorists, Palestinian radicals, Marxists, and black liberation ideologues — he was their favorite candidate. They groomed him. They befriended him. He befriended them. He socialized with them. In other words, these people saw Obama as representing their views and aspirations and he saw them the same way. I am not among those who raise Obama's associations but add "of course, it doesn't mean Obama shares their views."
Oh really? These miscreants include Obama's former pastor, political mentors and allies, and friends. Obama attempts to downplay and distance himself from his own circle of allies now that he is running for president. But he is one of them. Obama is getting a pass that no other candidate in my memory has ever received....

It was Walter Mondale that spoke the words above, and the new leadership that was desperately elected was the Jimmy Carter/Walter Mondale ticket.
Maybe that's why we hear the Democrats repeat this mantra ad nasuesm - because it has worked for them once or twice in the last quarter-century or so, and like all blinded superstitionalists, believe that it is the chant, repeated with the right effects and accents, that make the result possible.
Meanwhile...presenting Barack Obama as 2008's version of Jimmy Carter, as per Walter Mondale. Still think that Obama will be more like a David Dinkins - a elected official pushed into office by a media who conviced an easily duped New York electorate into thinking he would bring the racial healing and liberal salve that the city so desperately needed.
Turned out to be a disaster, as race relations hit an all-time low (anti-Asian rioting, anti-Semitic pogroms), crime hit an all-time high, and the soothing liberal words of a mayor whose leftist thinking didn't account for these eventualities simply acted as accelerant on the fire.
Result? Dinkins booted in four years (a la Jimmy Carter), and a city that is registered over 66% Democrat has elected Republican mayors for the last sixteen years and counting. And nary an old school liberal in sight, as New Yorkers cringe in fear from "the next Dinkins".
Obama's fate? Likely.
But America's fate? To be turned into 1988-1992 New York, writ on large scale, complete with race riots, freed "misunderstood" criminals, and an horrific economy? At this point in time in the world?

Soledad may be unable to count very well (and I juumped up and howled at the TV when I saw this last week), but no bit of pre-scripted bias can change the size of this event in Carson, deep in blue California:

Sarah Palin, Conservatives, and ''Pornification"
'tis rare for this site to link to Glamour, but when the subject is Ms. Palin, all things are considered...
The author, Miss Amanda Carpenter, makes a valid point: why are female conservatives fair game to be debased sexually, when such behavior would provoke outrage should it be directed at a liberal female?
There's a price to pay for conservative politicians like Sarah Palin who don't swath themselves in pantsuits, wear stylish open-toe shoes and refuse to cut their hair into mannish crops. Apparently part of that price is that, on the very day we should be focusing on Sarah Palin's forthcoming vice presidential debate performance, we learn that porn-peddler Larry Flynt has shot an X-rated adult film starring a Sarah Palin lookalike.
Yesterday I read about a Chicago tavern that's hanging up nude Palin paintings. And no, painter Bruce Elliot isn't a fan of her political leanings, he just likes Palin's hot bod. If that's not disturbing enough, Elliot's daughter posed naked as his Palin look-alike muse.
It happens to lots of conservative women I know, like Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter and the rest. It happened to me in college when a graduate student photoshopped pornography of me and put it on the internet because of the conservative work I was doing on campus. We know it's par for the course. I would hope that all women would be outraged by this, but people seem to care less when this kind of dirt is directed towards conservative women. I bet this causes less uproar than when the Washington Post's Style section discussed Hillary Clinton's cleavage.
Simply put, conservative women who don't hide their femininity are forced to pay a price.....
I guess they deserve it, like they used to say about provocatively dressed woman....
Anyway, Amanda is right, and these two examples do not even scratch the surface - what about Sandra Bernhard's gleeful anticipation of a rape of our VP candidate?
More sickness from the left, in the "person" of Susie (not so) Bright:
...there's this little part of me that's thinking "Oh, If only she was on my side. If only I could kidnap Sarah Palin and just lick her ***** for a few hours, I think we could just work this whole thing out."
Just like the lowest type of guy, who faced with unrequited love and harnoring a simmering mysogonistic hatred, will say, "if only I could **** her, I'd make her love me". Except when it comes from the left and is targeted at a successfule female conservative - then it ain't low, it's well-thought out commentary.
There's more of it out there, and it speaks much about the mindset of the liberal movement - free speech is great, but disagree with leftist canons, and heck - kidnap, rape, and obscene photoshopping is great too!
Just wait till they gain power...

New Jersey Does Something Right...
....but still, I am waiting for the enviornmentalists and their ilk to figure out why this, too, is not a good thing:
Regulators in New Jersey awarded the rights on Friday for construction of a $1 billion offshore wind farm in the southern part of the state to Garden State Offshore Energy...
The proposal by Garden State Offshore Energy includes the installation of 96 turbines to produce as much as 346 megawatts of electricity, enough to power tens of thousands of houses, starting in 2013. The turbines would be arranged in a rectangle about a half-mile long by one-third of a mile wide and would be placed 16 to 20 miles off the coast of New Jersey’s Atlantic and Ocean Counties, much farther out and in much deeper water than other proposed wind farms. Deepwater Wind, which will work with P.S.E.G. to build the wind farm, said it could affordably build turbines in 100 feet of water with the same technology used to build oil and gas rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and other places.
Because the wind blows more reliably during the day farther offshore, the company expects to be able to more readily tap into the higher prices available on the power market at peak times. And by putting the turbines so far out, the company hopes to blunt opposition from environmentalists and residents who say that turbines diminish ocean views and damage wildlife.
See how much it would distort the view?
Who wants to bet there will still be a legal battle on this?
Nevertheless, I'd like to see a few offshore drilling rigs thrown in for good measure...you know, a little from column A, a little from column B...

Essentially the BBC line was that "gaffe-prone" Palin had managed to just about hold her own, though she wobbled "a bit" on climate change and Iraq. Biden was painted as having glided serenely through the debate.
The BBC, like their soul-mates in the Democrat Party, are scare senseless of the values Palin stand for and so they have spent the last several weeks mocking her. Meanwhile, back in the real world, I can but assume that Sarah walloped slow Joe.

"PIT BULL KICKS WONK BUTT"
Where would be without the New York Post and headlines such as those? Charles Hurt deals the pain, as he lays out the beating Palin gave Biden in last night's debate:
Joe Biden tiptoed out on stage last night wondering whether he'd face a lady pitifully out of her depth or the lipstick end of a pit bull.
He found out real fast.
Biden's striped-pants Washington wonk talk ran into a regular American who looked like a lady, talked like a hockey mom and smacked him around like a cat playing with a mouse.
"Oh, man, it's so obvious that I'm a Washington outsider and someone just not used to the way you guys operate," Sarah Palin said in her arctic accent and a tone of utter disbelief.

Hers might have been the most unusual debate performance since Ross Perot's running-mate James Stockdale showed up at the 1992 VP contest. From the moment she opened by saying the best measure of the economy is what parents are saying on the sidelines of soccer games, it was clear how utterly different she is in American politics - a candidate of, by and from the middle class.
OK, now some have accused me of swooning a bit over my Sarahcuda, but even seasoned political vet/Clinton hack Dick Morris is now Palinated:
Last night was a big, big win for Sarah Palin.

Gov. Palin flabbergasted Joe when she corrected his mistakes on Afghanistan policy, when he claimed that the commander of the forces on the ground there said the Iraqi surge strategy wouldn't work. It turns out she knew more about what the general said than Joe did, and he was reduced to repeating irrelevant numbers.
Joe said he agreed with every major policy Obama supported. I wonder if that includes infanticide...

Prediction: Watch for a whole new, severe strain of Palin Derangement Syndrome to begin tonight.
They hated her before tonight. They are going to pour on more unfathomable hate at a level we have never seen before.

TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false.
IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false.
IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Maureen Dowd: Dumped!
Well, if John McCain had to get his revenge on one member of the media, how delicious that it should be the spectacularly untalented Maureen Dowd of the New York Times. Here's the way the story is currently being told right now; via Dr. Melissa:
Yesterday, leftist columnist Maureen Dowd was told she was no longer welcome on McCain’s campaign plane and had to go home with her tail between her legs.
Rather amusingly, she was dumped in the middle of Pennsylvania, too. After an August 30 rally in Washington, PA, she was told she could not get back on the plane. The rest of the press corps loaded up and off they flew leaving poor Mo standing there in shock.
McCain knows that he cannot even breathe without Dowd calling it a crime against humanity so that makes her a perfectly legitimate target for dismissal. There is just no expectation of fairness with a Maureen Dowd.
Although Dowd is not taken very seriously by most thinking people, the old fighter pilot knows a "high-value target" when he sees one; and he must have greatly enjoyed sweeping this old bird off her perch with one fell swoop.
Perhaps more actions like this ought to be taken - not to limit access as much as to guarantee candidate coverage to media people who have a track record of unbiased coverage. That might help "incentivize" reporters to be more truthful and balanced, knowing it would earn them better access to privileged information.
The other option is capitulation, which is discussed at length here.

Today's fall into the left-wing chasm: Barack Obama supports allowing illegal immigrants into community colleges - paid for, of course, by law-abiding taxpayers:

"For us to deny them access to community college, even though they've never lived in Mexico, at least as far as they can tell ... is to deny that this is how we've always built this country up," Obama said in an interview over the weekend with WUNC during a campaign stop in Greensboro.

My, what a unique and groundbreaking redefinition of citizenship; you're a citizen of the country you can remember, not the country where you were born.
What's the point in being a law-abiding, tax-paying, hard-working legal citizen under the Barack Obama regime, when the illegal, unemployed, and allegedly victimized are the only ones who can reap any rewards?

Well, This Will Make For a Fair Debate....
Drudge reveals that the moderator for Thursday's Vice-Presidential debate between Sarah Palin and Joe "Gaffe-O-Matic" Biden is - suprise! - an Obama partisan:
The moderator of Thursday's vice-presidential debate is writing a book to come out about the time the next president takes the oath of office that aims to "shed new light" on Democratic candidate Barack Obama and other "emerging young African American politicians" who are "forging a bold new path to political power."
.... she has faced criticism previously for not treating candidates of both major parties the same.

During a vice-presidential candidate debate she moderated in 2004 – when Democrat John Edwards attacked Republican Dick Cheney's former employer, Halliburton – the vice president said, "I can respond, Gwen, but it's going to take more than 30 seconds."
"Well, that's all you've got," she told Cheney.
Ifill told the Associated Press Democrats were delighted with her answer, because they "thought I was being snippy to Cheney."

Will we see the same look when Sarah Palin answers a question or scores a debate point based upon the conservative ideology that Ifill so obviosuly disdains?
