The truth terrifies the media, so they lie to you to protect themselves, and their own fragile egos - especially as it pertains to the history of Scott's new seat.  Narrative uber alles, after all, especially at the WaPo:

Scott was first elected to the House in 2010, winning an open seat after defeating the son of longtime Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.), the former segregationist who held the state’s other Senate seat for nearly 50 years until 2003.


The truth - for what it's worth these days:

Thurmond represented South Carolina in the United States Senate from 1954 until 2003, at first as a Democrat and, after 1964, as a Republican....

In opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957, he conducted the longest filibuster ever by a lone senator, at 24 hours and 18 minutes in length, nonstop. In the 1960s, he opposed the civil rights legislation of 1964 and 1965 to end segregation and enforce the voting rights of African-American citizens.


So effectively in 1965, as a voting Republican, 'ol Strom pretty much gave up on segregation, and left that hatred for the Democrats to carry on.

Which, based upon the information leading this post, they've continued to a large extent, save for the figurehead currently on top of their party, who is more of a cipher, a tool of the Reids and Pelosi-ites, than any sort of leader in his own right.

And yet the Republicans get tagged as the party of "racists".  Bizarro World, indeed....

More Than Wealth Is Being "Spread"...

ZeroHedge is one of the gloomiest financial blogs out there.  With good reason, of course.  While the apocalyptic crash has really yet to happen, the slow slide to the very same economic/societal moves inexorably forward.

Misery spread widely, says Tyler Durden.  Spread the pain, says I:

The 'something for nothing' mentality is now firmly in charge in the developed economies. As the G7 economies cascade lower under their past, present and future entitlement & politically connected reward policies, misery is now being spread widely! Misery being spread widely is the product of socialism, as real growth disappears and money printed out of thin air fills in for the lack of real income growth. All of this is paid for by the money you earn and store your wealth in, buying less and less, while your balance in the bank stays the same. The attacks on wealth and job creation are set to accelerate as politicians loot and plunder the private sectors to pay the unpayable promises and support those that don’t produce, by dis-incenting and enslaving those that do. Effectively, penalizing those who lead a prudent and productive lifestyle.

The cynical would argue that the goal is not to spur economic growth and job creation but instead is intended to formant economic collapse, grow government dependence, gather power as the man-made disaster unfolds, take freedoms and redistribute what wealth is left to the special interests in charge. This may very well be true but it could also be a matter of human nature and the generational re-learning of what role a government must be restricted to playing.

The Newtown Massacre: Blame The Media?

Roger Ebert already has. He warned us this day was coming back in 1999, but NBC squashed the story.  Which, in retrospect, is not as surprising as it may have been back then:

The day after Columbine, I was interviewed for the Tom Brokaw news program. The reporter had been assigned a theory and was seeking sound bites to support it. “Wouldn’t you say,” she asked, “that killings like this are influenced by violent movies?” No, I said, I wouldn’t say that. “But what about ‘Basketball Diaries’?” she asked. “Doesn’t that have a scene of a boy walking into a school with a machine gun?” The obscure 1995 Leonardo Di Caprio movie did indeed have a brief fantasy scene of that nature, I said, but the movie failed at the box office (it grossed only $2.5 million), and it’s unlikely the Columbine killers saw it.

The reporter looked disappointed, so I offered her my theory. “Events like this,” I said, “if they are influenced by anything, are influenced by news programs like your own. When an unbalanced kid walks into a school and starts shooting, it becomes a major media event. Cable news drops ordinary programming and goes around the clock with it. The story is assigned a logo and a theme song; these two kids were packaged as the Trench Coat Mafia. The message is clear to other disturbed kids around the country: If I shoot up my school, I can be famous. The TV will talk about nothing else but me. Experts will try to figure out what I was thinking. The kids and teachers at school will see they shouldn’t have messed with me. I’ll go out in a blaze of glory.”

In short, I said, events like Columbine are influenced far less by violent movies than by CNN, the NBC Nightly News and all the other news media, who glorify the killers in the guise of “explaining” them. I commended the policy at the Sun-Times, where our editor said the paper would no longer feature school killings on Page 1. The reporter thanked me and turned off the camera. Of course the interview was never used. They found plenty of talking heads to condemn violent movies, and everybody was happy.


Ebert's defense of violent movies can also be applied to violent video games, which some feel will become the next target (pardon the unfortunate pun) of a media looking to place blame anywhere save the ogre in the mirror..

With the Sunday talk-shows about to be filled by old and new-found advocates of gun control, will anyone dare point out the media's complicity in the Newtown Massacre?

And if they do...will the American people be allowed to see it ?

The Hanukkah Hotties of the IDF: Keeping The World Safe On The 8th Night...

(note: looking back at my 2011 / 2010 8th Night tributes, I didn't want to change a word, just the pictures. So it may sound familiar, but likely will not look (too) familiar - I did re-post a few favorites...)

The Newtown Massacre: Time For Gun Control?

No.

I suppose I could end this post with the obvious, but I'll document with the thoughts of my betters.

Jeffery Goldberg (no conservative he):

People should have the ability to defend themselves. Mass shootings take many lives in part because no one is firing back at the shooters. The shooters in recent massacres have had many minutes to complete their evil work, while their victims cower under desks or in closets. One response to the tragic reality that we are a gun-saturated country is to understand that law-abiding, well-trained, non-criminal, wholly sane citizens who are screened by the government have a role to play in their own self-defense, and in the defense of others (read The Atlantic article to see how one armed school administrator stopped a mass shooting in Pearl Mississippi). I don't know anything more than anyone else about the shooting in Connecticut at the moment, but it seems fairly obvious that there was no one at or near the school who could have tried to fight back.


Here's the story Goldberg refers to above:

When he entered the school, he fatally shot Lydia Kaye Dew and Christina Menefee, his former girlfriend. Pearl High School assistant band director, Jeff Cannon, was standing five feet away from Dew when she was fatally shot. Woodham went on to wound seven others before leaving, intending to drive off campus and conduct another shooting at the nearby Pearl Junior High School. However, assistant principal Joel Myrick had retrieved a .45 pistol from the glove compartment of his truck and subdued Woodham inside his mother's car. Then Myrick demanded "Why did you shoot my kids?" to which Woodham replied, "Life has wronged me, sir."


Roger Kimball goes back to the Virginia Tech Massacre:

Jim Sollo, representing Virginians Against Handgun Violence, told reporters that “We live in a society where guns are pretty well accepted. There are 200 million guns in this society and obviously some in the wrong hands.” Well, yes. And that means? That we should concentrate all instruments of violence in the hands of an increasingly bureaucratic and meddlesome state, thus rendering ordinary citizens even more defenseless? I don’t think so...


How's gun control working out in Great Britain?  Whoops - *Pesky Inconvenient Facts Alert*:

The latest Government figures show that the total number of firearm offences in England and Wales has increased from 5,209 in 1998/99 to 9,865 last year - a rise of 89 per cent.  In some parts of the country, the number of offences has increased more than five-fold. In eighteen police areas, gun crime at least doubled...

He's armed in defiance of the law; you are unarmed in obedience to it.  He wins, you lose...everything.

Liberals talk about banning guns as if it's the same as banning murder and banning evil. That's why they are so dogmatic and emotional on the point: How can you be in favor of murder? How can you oppose banning evil?


It's the simplicity of liberals, Ace.  I note that the Left crowed when they passed new regulations forcing all car-makers to push their average fleet MPG to 55 MPG.  As if all they have to do is demand it, and it will happen.  So simple.  No doubt they will be holding on to their SUVs for dear life while the rest of us are driving plastic deathtraps stripped down to the bare bones in order to meet federal standards....while costing twice the price.  But their intentions were good, Ace.  Just like the British politicians.

Remind me again...what was the road to Hell paved with?  Oh, right...

Finally, for some black humor (literally and figuratively) - Chris Rock talks about how he is scared to death by "young white males".  Funny, but there's a point in there that should be explored:  Most of the senseless mass-murders over the past few years have been done by that "subgroup" (think Columbine, Tuscon, Aurora, last week's mall shoot-up, and yesterday's horror in Newtown).

The Newtown Massacre....

From John  Podhoretz...these are not words of comfort to the grieving (for those hearts will ever be torn, never to heal, and I weep for them, and for the children that entered Heaven today before their time).

These are words of warning:

One cannot conceive of anything more monstrous than a person or persons who could look small children in the eye and systematically shoot them dead. Which is why this crime, among the worst crimes in American history, is not just an assault on the children, or their families, or the town of Newtown—though it is all those things.

What the killer(s) did today was nothing less than a contemporary sacrifice to Moloch, in whatever form Moloch manifests himself today—the appeasement of a voice in the head, most likely. Evil, even if it is loosed due to mental illness, is an effort to destroy the common good by making good appear powerless, ineffectual, weak. Today saw a horrifically effective effort to give evil a victory. It has opened a portal and brought Hell to earth.

Chuck Hagel: The Secretary Of Defense Jews Deserve

Sure, he's an anti-Semite, trafficking in the most base of libels:

..Senator Hagel often appears before Arab-American groups to air his views regarding the Middle East....Says Hagel: "The political reality is that... the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here."

Jews supported Barack Obama by a 69%-31% margin.  This, after four years of in-your-face disgust for Israel and for the Jewish people in general.

As I have said many times in the past, American Jews are not as smart as they are made out to be.  Or perhaps they are simply over-educated, and with their noses buried in books and journals, have forgotten that their survival is in peril every minute, something all the free health care and tax hikes in the world won't change.

They are about to be reminded.

The Jews have given Obama his flexibility, instead of taking away Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. And as we can see with the fiscal cliff "negotiations", boy-oh-boy is he going to use it.

Via The Lid, here are some of Hagel's greatest "hits" on Israel:

-In August 2006, Hagel was one of only 12 Senators who refused to write the EU asking them to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

-In October 2000, Hagel was one of only 4 Senators who refused to sign a Senate letter in support of Israel.

-In November 2001, Hagel was one of only 11 Senators who refsued to sign a letter urging President Bush not to meet with the late Yassir Arafat until his forces ended the violence against Israel.

-In December 2005, Hagel was one of only 27 who refused to sign a letter to President Bush to pressure the Palestinian Authority to ban terrorist groups from participating in Palestinian legislative elections.

-In June 2004, Hagel refused to sign a letter urging President Bush to highlight Iran's nuclear program at the G-8 summit


To be fair, some did support Hagel's positions during his short-lived presidential campaign in 2008:

“Potential presidential candidates for 2008, like Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Joe Biden and Newt Gingrich, were falling all over themselves to express their support for Israel. The only exception to that rule was Senator Chuck Hagel …” [Council on American-Islamic Relations, 8/28/06]

Hot Air reports that key Jewish Democratic pressure groups & donors were huddling at the White House Hanukkah party and expressing their concern over a Hagel nomination.  I literally laughed out loud reading it.  These guys put party loyalty over their won flesh and blood, and now they are actually surprised that the anti-Semite they voted for actually means what he says?

They have forgotten Mein Kampf.  Also written by a man who meant everything he said.

I hope Hagel gets the nomination.  He's a shoo-in if he is, as the old-boy network in the Senate would never prevent a fellow alum from moving up the ladder, hateful policies or not.  And American Jews will have gotten the Secretary of Defense they voted for.

Literally.

And you'll see me at synagogue, with a mile-wide smirk, as my fellow congregants (most of whom  - well, at least those who know my political stance - can't stand the sight of me) speak in worried whispers about what is going on around them, and what is happening to Israel.  And given the chance, I will say:

On joining the army Ginzburg said: "Military service is part of the things I personally believe in."

Ouch.

Do your research and you'll find that she's far from being a patriotic Israeli, dodged the draft and is regarded by a lot of Israelis as a moonbat airhead.


Fair enough.  In a fight, I'd take the patriotic Miss Ginzburg any day.  But please remember, Miss Refaeli:  Nothing personal.  Please.  Really.

In Which I Agree With Bob Menendez (D-La Raza)

So it turns out that New Jersey's junior Senator (well, the entire Senate is junior to Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey's other sterling choice for the select chamber) had been employing a teenage illegal immigrant sex offender as a staffer.  Furthermore, it appears as if Homeland Security told federal agents not to arrest him until after Election Day, so that Menendez could have no bumps on the road to -re-election.

Well, let's hope Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavalet didn't rape any women or molest any children while the Feds were biding their time.   I know, I know, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that the Demcorats retained control of the Senate, and if women and children need to be sexually violated for that to happen, well...there are always sacrifices at the alter of the liberal cause.  Just ask Mary Jo Kopechne.  Rather, ask her parents...

On MSNBC to defend himself, Senator Menendez had an odd comment in response to this latest scandal:

Menendez said Sanchez’s arrest “does speak volumes about why we need comprehensive immigration reform, because we can’t know who is here to pursue the American dream versus who is here to do it damage.”


The second part of his sentence is what conservatives have been screaming about for years, only to be called racist for it.  It is the major reason we need immigration reform, comprehensive or not.

So see that?  I actually agree with you, Senator Menendez.  Here's a few thoughts on how it might be accomplished:

-tighter border security
-allowing police to raid homes suspecting of harboring illegals
-allowing police to question the immigration status of suspected illegals during traffic stops
-a speeded-up deportation system
-more funds for ICE
-no state or federal benefits for anyone of questionable immigration status
-make "sanctuary cities" illegal, punish such localities with cutoff of federal funding


Do you think Senator Menendez would go along with any of this?  Let's check his record:

Menendez forced a $473K earmark into the "stimulus" bill to support anti-American Hispanic hate group La Raza ("The Race") while simultaneously voting to raise our taxes to pay for it...

Sen. Menendez (D-N.J.) has put a "hold" on legislation to reauthorize the E-Verify workplace verification program....

...Sen. Menendez just held a recent book signing at...the National Council of La Raza...

And here he is in 2010, after Democrats lost control of the House, asking for lame-duck members to pass amnesty:

I think the time to get it done is in November, right after the elections. I'm being very pragmatic. I think there are a bunch of people who are retiring who would cast votes (because) their heart and their intellect tell them it is the right thing, but their politics might have told them no. They are free to cast votes that we might not normally get. I think it's a propitious time to get something done if we have presidential leadership. That's what I said to the president two weeks ago when I was at the White House with him...


So let us be clear.  Bob Menedez (D-Illegal Immigrants) is full of shit when he ties "comprehensive immigration reform" to "dangerous" illegals.  His version of immigration reform is a nation swamped with "legal illegals", who will line up for benefits, which will be provided for by raising taxes, and will thus create a constituency that will vote Democratic for generations.

And while I can't prove it, I have little doubt that Menendez  knew that Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavalet  was an illegal, but put him on staff anyway, as a personal "f*ck you" to both conservatives and the rule of law.  Either that, or  - under the rules he wants us all to live by - he refused to ask Zavalet for any proof of identity whatsoever (to do so would be raaaacist!), and thus unwittingly harbored a deranged sex offender.

Thus our future under Democrats:  Asking questions gets you labeled and perhaps fined by the government, refusing to ask gets your sister raped.

Not a whole lot of this in the local New Jersey papers, by the way.  Just like Dirty Bob's dalliance with foreign hookers (whom he allegedly underpaid  - hey, do as I say, not as I do!) seemed to vanish in less than a day.

But I heard that somewhere, a Republican farted, and the New Jersey media are all over it, and about to file a stunning report on its allegedly racist odor...

Briefcase 18, Being Held By...Hanukkah Hottie #5 ?

The Day America Irrevocably Changed For The Worse...

Well, at least the date will be easy to remember: 12-12-12.

Yesterday's physical attacks on conservatives daring to show their faces in Michigan, as the "Right to Work" bill was signed into law, was an blatent display of political violence very rarely seen before in modern-day America.  Out in the open, witnessed by thousands, conservatives were assaulted and their tents torn down and mutilated (with more innocent people still inside).

But unless you saw it...the attacks never happened.  Because the mainstream media, despite having witnessed brownshirt tactics before their very eyes, refused to report it.  Newsbusters chronicles the many media outlets who reported on the union protests, but failed to mention the union assaults on conservative onlookers.

We have reached a turning point (and that is a phrase I use rarely, as it is oft proven wrong).  The American media is now openly in cahoots with the hard Left, sanitizing their violent takeover of government by simply airbrushing it out of existence.  Worse - they are working deliberately to deliver the entire nation into the hands of the same goons who punched Steven Crowder in the kisser yesterday.

The MSM single-handedly pushed Barack Obama over the finish line, and -  seeing nobody chasing them -  decided to push the envelope further, first by claiming that Obama's 2.5 million vote win (out of 122 million cast) accounts to a mandate for a complete national capitulation to the president's agenda, and now by hiding the anti-democratic hatred and violence of those who brought him to power and have kept him there (while simultaneously insisting we capitulate to their demands as well).


We can play the double-standards game all day - imagine if a group of homosexuals had been beaten at a conservative rally! - but any attempt to hold the media to any sort of standards is now a waste of time.  Like demanding courtesy from the burglar, chivalry from the rapist, mercy from the cold-blooded killer...


But currently I have no solution to offer.  The blogosphere has failed as an alternative mass communication source, as people now simply access the information what they want to hear, or turn to the insanely  biased home pages of vile news providers like Yahoo!

Are we left with no choice save...gurullia warfare?

I used to laugh at the cheesiness this scene (just past the 9:00 mark) from The Running Man, in which "the underground" overthrows a depraved, lawless, TV-based dystopian society by hijacking the airwaves and broadcasting "the truth" ("Killian is lying to you!").  But then again...





As the duplicity of those in power is revealed:

Richard Dawson/Killian:  "...we're experiencing techincal difficulties..."
Old Lady:   "Bullshit!"

Which still gives them civil rights limited to their membership. Might be even a bigger selling point than wages & benefits, especially for jobs that don't even really exist anymore.

Silence is assent, of course. Which is why the media is playing deaf, dumb, & blind, as is the president (playing? hmmm...). Where common sense fails, liberals are now hoping that fear prevails.

Why not? It worked for them in the 2012 election.

Hanukkah Honey #4: Miss Israel!

Meet Moran Atias - Miss Israel 1998.  OK, she was a teenager back then (having been born in 1981) but she has certainly ripened with age (if you can even call 31 "age").

Famous in her home nation and throughout Europe, she's a model, actress, TV hostess, and has an album under her belt as well.

She's dated soccer stars, F-1 racers, and other members of Europe's celebrity hoi polloi...

She is a goodwill ambassador for IsraAid, and was named by City of Milan to be the official spokeswoman leading the campaigns against graffiti and animal cruelty. Yay, good deeds!

She also starred in the US television series Crash, and has been seen on CSI: New York / Miami, Rules of Engagement, and White Collar.

And did I mention that she is crazy-hot?  Shoot...the fourth candle is just burning....
