Newark Star-Ledger Spreads Wide For Bob Menendez

As More Monmouth Musings puts it:

After hiding out in the bowels of the Capitol and the hills of Afghanistan for most of February, Senator Bob Menendez came out to New Jersey’s press yesterday with school kids as prop.


But - in classic Obama-style - Menendez (D-La Raza) put the muzzle on his lapdogs:

Staff aides for Menendez urged reporters to stay on topic during the call, and to contact them later with any questions, like those about his relationship with the Florida eye doctor, Salomon Melgen — a friend and major campaign contributor whose offices were raided by the FBI in January.

With the ground rules in place, inquiries about round-trip flights to the Dominican Republic on Melgen’s private jet, and Menendez reimbursing the doctor $58,500 for two of them two years later, were not front and center.

Neither were disclosures that the senator came to the aid of Melgen before federal agencies, or accusations that the doctor provided Menendez with prostitutes, some underage, at his vacation home in the Dominican Republic


In which Menendez is right:

Asked whether the senator’s packed schedule was intended to rehabilitate his image at home after a month of harsh news coverage, Menendez bristled and said his appearance with the children was part of "Read Across America Day," which he has participated in for almost 20 years.

"And secondly," he said, "I don’t think I need any rehabilitating."


Not with a see-no-evil, hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil New Jersey media, who would rather lie to the people of New Jersey and obscure the horrific doings of Bob Menendez than risk the chance that New Jersey residents might replace him with a (gasp) Republican senator.

They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray.

And why do I pick on the Newark Star-Ledger in my post title? For the opening of their pre-censored article on Menendez's staged appearance:

Of all the adjectives used to describe Sen. Robert Menendez — wonkish, intense, diligent — the words soft and cuddly have rarely found their way into the discussion.


Actually, there are a lot of other words that find their way into discussions of Bob Menedez ("corrupt" being the most common). They just never seem to make it into Star-Ledger, though....

Republicans Not Quite As Dead As The Media Would Have You Believe...

If only the media were smart enough to play "connect the dots", they would realize that their liberal "victory" in November was pyrrhic (or perhaps pointless), and that in reality, their party is getting smoked.

Consider:

Obama campaigned on raising taxes for families making above $250K.  The best deal he was able to wrangle out of Congress was hikes on incomes over $450K, and in return, had to make the remainder of the  hated "Bush tax cuts" permanent.  Something George W. Bush wasn't able to do, mind you,  with a Republican House and Senate.

Susan Rice was blocked from becoming the next Secretary of State.  Chuck Hagel's nomination has been derailed, and while it is still possible he may become the next Secretary of Defense, he has been exposed as a bumbler and a fool, and his erstwhile boss as a man of little to no judgement.

And Obama's pick for Treasury Secretary - Jack Lew, perhaps the dumbest and most partisan of the bunch - appears to be on the ropes as well.

If Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) gets sent off to the hoosegow - which seems increasingly likely, and has been long deserved - one Christopher Christie will be the man to appoint his replacement.  And if the Big Man even wants to dream about running for president in 2016, he's gotta put forth a Republican.  And so the Democratic Senate majority will dwindle even further.

Of course, there is this lesser mentioned result of the 2012 elections:

50 states. 30 of them have Republicans governors. 25 of them have complete and total Republican control - the governorship, senate, and house.


And that's not to mention the popularity of some of these Republican governors in deep blue states - the aforementioned Chris Christie, who no one dares run against, and Scott Walker in Wisconsin, who, when forced into a recall, won by a larger margin than he did the first time.

And diversity?  We've got Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Tim Scott.  They've got....Bob Menendez.  Which does give the Democrats the corner on statutory rapists.

I've been down in the dumps for a while now, dragging my dick through the dirt, downcast and downbeat.

But maybe it's gonna be all right after all....

As Tax Revenues In Blue States/Blue Cities Decrease, Expect To See A Lot More Of This...

Gangsterism, plain and simple, from the liberal metropolis formerly known as the City of Brotherly Love:

Dick Yuengling may be throwing back a few of his own brews after receiving a civil lawsuit from the city that claims his brewery, D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc., has failed to pay more than $6.6 million in city taxes, interest and penalty fees.

How does a Pottsville-based beer company that doesn't have a brewery or a plant in Philadelphia come to owe millions in business-income and -receipts taxes to the city?

It's not clear, because no one from the city would comment on the suit or explain even the basic foundation of the claims.

The business-income and -receipts tax (BIRT), formerly known as the business-privilege tax (BPT), can be levied on any person or corporation that engages in taxable activity within the city, even if that business is not in the city.

What the city constitutes as a taxable activity "is essentially a factual determination made on a case-by-case basis," according to the regulations listed on the city's website.

The civil suit against Yuengling was filed in Philadelphia last week and claims that America's oldest brewery failed to pay its business tax, though the suit does not detail what activities Yuengling conducted within Philadelphia that the city determined to be taxable.


When the law is determined on a case by case basis, there is no law to be obeyed, only immunity from government malice that can only be purchased in cash from the party in power.  Which are almost always Democrats  because this is how they roll, all the way down from Barack Obama to Senator Bob Menendez.  From Tammany Hall to Mayor Daley.

$6.6 million based on some tax they kinda just made up and decided Yuengling needs to pay while refusing to divulge even the smallest bit of detail as to why? Shady-ass city being shady.

It’s a wonder who the Yuengling guys pissed off to make this sorta thing happen. Did Dick Yuengling leave a bloody hooker in Mayor Nutter’s beach house? Are the Yuengling trucks involved in the heroin trade and the company failed to pay the city their cut? So many possibilities.

Whatever it is doesn’t matter unless the price of Black & Tan goes up. Then we have a problem.


I like the way B-Sports takes the gangsterism as a given.  And they inadvertently make the point, in their final sentence, that it's OK to beat up on the "rich", as long as nothing happens to the middle class.

Someone out to remind Philadelphia residents which brewery handed out some 10,000 free beers to city drinkers last September to thank them for their support.  I kind of have the feeling Mr. Yuengling is gonna think twice before bestowing any favors on the people who elect his extortioners...

Bob Menendez in Hot Water; Time To Think About A Christie Appointee?

I can't necessarily blame the average American for dismissing the story, as the only places that reported on New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez's (D-La Raza) penchant for literally and figuratively screwing teenage hookers were the Daily Caller, Breitbart, and a few wacky right-wing blogs.  Like this one.

But now that the FBI is raiding Menendez's buddies....the mainstream media may actually have to report on it (something they have assiduously refused to do).  The Daily Caller:

FBI agents have raided the West Palm Beach, Fla. eye clinic owned by Dr. Salomon Melgen, the wealthy donor to New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez who allegedly procured prostitutes for him — some of them as young as 16 — during trips to the Dominican Republic.

The Miami Herald reported that federal agents lined up vans outside the Melgen Eye Center late Tuesday night to haul away evidence in the case.

Melgen, 58, is believed to have flown Menendez in his private jet to the Dominican Republic on several occasions for alcohol-fueled sex parties featuring prostitutes.

The women appeared in videotaped interviews with the help of a translator. Each said she was promised $500 to sleep with the New Jersey lawmaker, but was ultimately paid only $100.

Additional confirmation came from a Dominican government official who told TheDC that Menendez frequents “sex, hookers and drinking” parties in the Caribbean nation.


Not only did Senator Menendez have sex with teenage girls, he refused to pay them what he promised.

What a scumbag.

I don't believe that a Democratic Senator has ever given up their position of power due to a morally shameful act, but with the FBI also investigating Menendez's campaign finances, he may not have any choice.

Which leads me to wonder who New Jersey's next Senator will be.  Chris Christie can appoint one until the next scheduled election, and if he wants a prayer of winning the Republican nomination, it has got to be an "R".

You heard it here first:  The next Senator from New Jersey will be State Senator Joe Kyrillos, who ran against Menendez in vain last year.  He's an an honest man and a solid conservative, who also happened to be a big part of Christie's 2009 campaign for governor. He wouldn't have a lot of time to make a name for himself, but a tax-cutting Senator from a taxed-to-death blue state certainly is capable of making some waves...

That is, unless Obama squashes the FBI investigation.  He is first and foremost..a Chicago politician, after all....

One Of Senator Menendez's Prostitutes Reveals Herself!

And it turns out to be...ABC’s Martha Raddatz.

Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) is under investigation by the FBI for illegal campaign contributions and having sex with teenage hookers while in the Dominican Republic. A story that came out only because aforementioned prostitutes complained bitterly that, once "finished", Dirty Bob refused to pay them the amount he promised.

Menendez spent an inordinate amount of time on the set of "This Week" yesterday, as Ms. Raddatz asked Senator Pervert his thoughts on immigration reform, Benghazi, Chuck Hagel’s nomination as Secretary of Defense and the future of Frank Lautenberg's Senate seat, possibly up for grabs in 2014.

And no - she did not ask him once about shortchanging underage prostitutes, or about the FBI investigation into his illicit campaign cash.

Ms. Raddatz shoud not have assumed a position across the table from Menenedez - she should have taken one underneath the table, on her knees, as befitting to her profession, and the job she did yesterday on truth, honesty, and the ethos of journalism.

Senator Menendez Loves Him Some Teenage Whores...

It was bad enough, when we first reported on this story, to find out that Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) was cheating Dominican prostitutes out of money:

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year.

In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.

One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful” before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.

“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”


But is seems as if - to quote the Beastie Boys - that  the girlies he likes are underage, which got the FBI interested as well:

Documents published online for the first time Thursday indicate that the FBI opened an inquiry into New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez on August 1, 2012, focusing on repeated trips he took to the Dominican Republic with longtime campaign contributor and Miami eye doctor Salomon Melgen. TheDC reported in November that Menendez purchased the service of prostitutes in that Caribbean nation at a series of alcohol-fueled sex parties.

Information made available to (ABC News senior investigative producer) Rhonda Schwartz and Carrie Levine (research director at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) at that time included allegations that some of Menendez’s prostitutes were as young as 16. The source also alleged that Sen. Menendez was taking “non-authorized trips” to the Dominican Republic, suggesting that he may have been evading Senate Ethics committee rules covering disclosures when third parties pay for a senator’s travel.

On Sept. 11, 2012, the documents indicate, the same source who provided information to Levine and Schwartz also sent an FBI Special Agent in Miami what he described as “the testimony of one of the girls.”

“I have in my possession the original written in her own hand,” the source wrote. “She’s 19 now, but took part in private parties with Senator Menendez being only 16.”

In Which I Agree With Bob Menendez (D-La Raza)

So it turns out that New Jersey's junior Senator (well, the entire Senate is junior to Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey's other sterling choice for the select chamber) had been employing a teenage illegal immigrant sex offender as a staffer.  Furthermore, it appears as if Homeland Security told federal agents not to arrest him until after Election Day, so that Menendez could have no bumps on the road to -re-election.

Well, let's hope Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavalet didn't rape any women or molest any children while the Feds were biding their time.   I know, I know, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that the Demcorats retained control of the Senate, and if women and children need to be sexually violated for that to happen, well...there are always sacrifices at the alter of the liberal cause.  Just ask Mary Jo Kopechne.  Rather, ask her parents...

On MSNBC to defend himself, Senator Menendez had an odd comment in response to this latest scandal:

Menendez said Sanchez’s arrest “does speak volumes about why we need comprehensive immigration reform, because we can’t know who is here to pursue the American dream versus who is here to do it damage.”


The second part of his sentence is what conservatives have been screaming about for years, only to be called racist for it.  It is the major reason we need immigration reform, comprehensive or not.

So see that?  I actually agree with you, Senator Menendez.  Here's a few thoughts on how it might be accomplished:

-tighter border security
-allowing police to raid homes suspecting of harboring illegals
-allowing police to question the immigration status of suspected illegals during traffic stops
-a speeded-up deportation system
-more funds for ICE
-no state or federal benefits for anyone of questionable immigration status
-make "sanctuary cities" illegal, punish such localities with cutoff of federal funding


Do you think Senator Menendez would go along with any of this?  Let's check his record:

Menendez forced a $473K earmark into the "stimulus" bill to support anti-American Hispanic hate group La Raza ("The Race") while simultaneously voting to raise our taxes to pay for it...

Sen. Menendez (D-N.J.) has put a "hold" on legislation to reauthorize the E-Verify workplace verification program....

...Sen. Menendez just held a recent book signing at...the National Council of La Raza...

And here he is in 2010, after Democrats lost control of the House, asking for lame-duck members to pass amnesty:

I think the time to get it done is in November, right after the elections. I'm being very pragmatic. I think there are a bunch of people who are retiring who would cast votes (because) their heart and their intellect tell them it is the right thing, but their politics might have told them no. They are free to cast votes that we might not normally get. I think it's a propitious time to get something done if we have presidential leadership. That's what I said to the president two weeks ago when I was at the White House with him...


So let us be clear.  Bob Menedez (D-Illegal Immigrants) is full of shit when he ties "comprehensive immigration reform" to "dangerous" illegals.  His version of immigration reform is a nation swamped with "legal illegals", who will line up for benefits, which will be provided for by raising taxes, and will thus create a constituency that will vote Democratic for generations.

And while I can't prove it, I have little doubt that Menendez  knew that Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavalet  was an illegal, but put him on staff anyway, as a personal "f*ck you" to both conservatives and the rule of law.  Either that, or  - under the rules he wants us all to live by - he refused to ask Zavalet for any proof of identity whatsoever (to do so would be raaaacist!), and thus unwittingly harbored a deranged sex offender.

Thus our future under Democrats:  Asking questions gets you labeled and perhaps fined by the government, refusing to ask gets your sister raped.

Not a whole lot of this in the local New Jersey papers, by the way.  Just like Dirty Bob's dalliance with foreign hookers (whom he allegedly underpaid  - hey, do as I say, not as I do!) seemed to vanish in less than a day.

But I heard that somewhere, a Republican farted, and the New Jersey media are all over it, and about to file a stunning report on its allegedly racist odor...

-And has written a letter to Santa Claus, citing his concern over global warming, and offering to relocate his toy shop to New Jersey. Yes, really...

His Republican opponent in this year's election, Joe Kyrillos, is a hardworking, decent and honest man, who  - as my state senator - has worked diligently to keep spending down, taxes low, and to serve the needs of his constituents. And, even in the dirty cesspool that is Jersey politics, he has managed to keep his nose clean.

Which, if you believe the polls, is - in New Jersey - a bug, not a feature...

Ted Cruz Has Got Some Good Advice For Mitt Romney...

...on attracting the Hispanic vote.  Cruz explains why this vote should be naturally more Republican:

I think the Hispanic community, the values that resonate in our community, are fundamentally conservative. They are faith, family, patriotism… I think what Gov. Romney needs to do and I think what he is doing is defending those values and making the case that the Obama agenda has been incredibly destructive to the Hispanic community.


Just because the media has made Hispanics into a single-issue constituencey - their "desire" for amnesty for illegal immigrants - is no reason for Romney to do the same.  If anything, it is rationale for him to do the opposite.  I've written about this in the past:

Obama and his cadres, whose primary interaction with Hispanics is with lobbyists for ethnic identity groups, fails to see the concern within the Hispanic communities over illegal immigration.

I work with many Hispanics, we talk about it all the time. Illegals flock to their communities as to blend in; parents fear for their children as the two-bedroom apartment next door becomes host to a dozen illegals or more - are they hard workers or career criminals? Nobody knows, and with a president advocating a "don't ask, don't tell" policy towards illegals, it is the American Hispanic population that is becoming scared, victimized, and terrorized, while being politically patronized...


Hispanic Americans want what every American wants - the opportunity to get a good job, rise up in the world, and be able to walk the streets safely at night.  Obama's policies towards the Hispanic community has deprived them of all three.  Time to make sure that they know that.

And to point out that the only two active Hispanic governors today are Republicans (Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Susana Martinez of New Mexico, America's first "Latina" to hold the office).  And once Cruz takes his seat in the Senate, as he assuredly will, Republicans will boast a 2-1 advantage in Hispanic Senators (maybe 2-0, if the despicable Bob Menendez [D-La Raza] gets the boot in New Jersey).

Groups like the Republican Jewish Coalition are making sure the message about Obama's anti-Israel policies are getting out there to the community, past the mainstream media filter.  Romney will have to pole-vault over the MSM as well to get the news to Hispanics that Obama is screwing them.  And if he needs help to do so, he'd better go get it.  Could be a game-changer...

(Ted) Cruz Control, "300", And Why Barack Obama Is Sh*tting Bricks

Stunning. Spectacular. In your face.

No other way to describe Ted Cruz's 13 point win over Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst for the Republican Senate nomination in the great state of Texas.  If you take into account Cruz's second-place finish to Dewhurst in the "first round" of the primaries, it's a 24-point turn-around for the Tea Party candidate.

Most of the early polling showed Dewhurst with about a 6-8 point lead over Cruz.  As June wore into July, it was Cruz picking up a 4-6 point lead (a lead Dewhurst claimed as his own, based on his internal polls), and it wasn't until the final pre-election poll, which showed Cruz opening up a 10 point lead, that we saw the makings of a rout.  And yet, Cruz's victory margin topped even that figure, thought to be an outlier at the time.

Dewhurst spent almost $25 million of his own money on the race.  Cruz raised closer to $7 million, although the Club for Growth kicked in another $5.5M of their own on his behalf.

Outspent almost 2-1, Cruz still eviscerated his opponent.  Over 1 million Texans came out to vote on this sweltering summer day, roasting in 100+ degree heat, to make their voices heard.

Related to the point I am about to make:

Ted Cruz wasn’t the only Tea Party victory yesterday. The entire political establishment of Georgia (including the Republican governor and legislative leadership, plus the Democratic mayor of Atlanta and his machine), just got its collective ass royally kicked by the Tea Party. “TSPLOST,” a sales tax hike that would have funded a multi-billion dollar slush fund for transit boondoggles and taxpayer-funded development bootstrapping was supported by $10 million in relentless advertising. Tea Party groups spent all of $15,000 in paid opposition.

Result: 69-31, against. And that was in the Atlanta metro region.


What does Barack Obama see, when he looks over this landscape?

He sees polls with virtually no reliability, seemingly missing out on a key voting bloc that turns out en masse on election day.  A bloc that seems to be growing, not shrinking, no matter how much his state-controlled media derides and mocks them.  A bloc that is impervious to the bombardment of slick, time-tested political advertising, that cannot be moved by negative attacks or even outright lies.

And he sees that more and more Americans are voting with this group, even if they claim no affiliation.  In places like Atlanta, Wisconsin, and Brooklyn, NY.  He sees the Jews leaving him, one by one, and looks at the likelihood of Republicans having two high-profile Hispanic Senators (Cruz & Rubio), versus only one for the Democrats, the lowly and laughable Bob Menendez (D-La Raza).

And while his oracles - the mainstream media - keep telling him he is infallible, a god, it seems as if even Obama knows that their books are cooked.  And perhaps our president feels like another god-king, who saw his best-laid plans laid to waste by those who could not be bribed or bought

Into the Hot Gates we march. Into that narrow corridor we march. Xerxes numbers count for nothing...

....nor does Obama's money.  Or his polling.  Barack Obama is heading into his own Hot Gates on November 7th, his armies of insane liberals neither as large or strong as he once believed.  And it may in fact be beginning to dawn on him, for the first time, that his doom is at hand.

Maybe he'll "dicispline" his generals...?

Hmmm....Menendez Seat Now Only "Leans" Democratic?

And that's from the New York Times, no less. Via MMM, we see that Nate Silver now classifies Bob Menendez's (D-La Raza) Senate seat as one of two races nationally that have shifted in favor of Republicans:

In New Jersey, Robert Menendez, a Democrat, has middling approval ratings and is below 50 percent in the polls against the most likely Republican nominee, State Senator Joseph Kyrillos. Mr. Kyrillos would need to catch some breaks to win the race — his fund-raising has lagged Mr. Menendez’s so far, and he might need Mr. Romney to be more competitive in New Jersey than Republican presidential candidates have been in recent years. Still, there is a plausible path to an upset, and so we now classify the race as Likely Democrat rather than Safe Democrat.

Independents back Menendez 39 - 33 percent...
Menendez gets a 44 - 30 percent job approval rating... 
New Jersey voters have a 37 - 26 percent favorable opinion of Menendez, while 36 percent don't know enough about him to form an opinion. For Kyrillos, 75 percent don't know enough to form an opinion.


Points to ponder:

-A 44% job approval is well "below 50%"...and this in a state with a 600K+ Democratic registration advantage, no less

-only  37% of New Jersey residents have a "favorable opinion" of Menendez?  Sweet Zombie Jesus, even Newt Gingrich laughs at those numbers!

-after two terms, 36% of those polled don't know enough about Menendez to form an opinion?  Talk about a lack of marketplace penetration, one that can be easily exploited by a canny opponent...

-75%o of the locals have no idea who Joe Kyrillos is.  Which means he can, given enough time and money, shape that opinion, assuming he moves faster than Menendez

-Chris Christie is a powerhouse political figure in New Jersey.  He will stump for Kyrillos, and help raise money for him ($600K so far).  Another guy who knows a bit about money is helping out Kyrillos. Goes by the name of Mitt Romney....


And we haven't even gotten into the stench of cronyism and corruption that surrounds Menendez like dirt follows Pig-pen...(much more here)

Joe Biden and Senator Bob Menendez: Both their brains combined still don't equal one idiot

So Joe came to Jersey (Northern New Jersey, that is - wealthy, insulated, and liberal. Don't think he'd go further south than exit 123 of the GSP) to raise money for Senator Bob Menendez's re-election campaign, and somehow got sucked into Menendez's whirlpool of stupidity.  Sure, Joe said that the Osama bin Laden raid was the most audacious military plan in 500 years - take that, Dwight Eisenhower! - and that was pretty dumb, but he still can't top his host.

Bob Menendez has, over the past four-plus years:
-Referred to Republicans as "hostage-takers"
-Criticized Democrats for working with Republicans in order to govern
-Forced a $473,000- earmark into the stimulus bill for the La Raza, a liberal, racist, anti-American (but pro-Hispanic!) hate group
-Did a book signing at  La Raza's DC headquarters
-Voted to support the dreadful Moveon.org "General Betray-Us" ad
-Was caught in a baldfaced lie about New Jersey spending
-And has written a letter to Santa Claus, citing his concern over global warming, and offering to relocate his toy shop to New Jersey.  Yes, really...

You sure don't know shit about military history, Joe...but you've still got a ways to go to sink below the Menendez line of stupidity.  Be grateful for that.

What am I grateful for?  This:

One week after [Republican Senatorial candidate Joe] Kyrillos used Christie to rake in $600,000, Menendez (D-N.J.) Monday brought in his own big gun: Vice President Joe Biden, who headlined a Morris Township fundraiser Menendez campaign officials expect will net $400,000.

Joe Kyrillos is still a long way behind dumb, dirty Bob in the cash game.  But it is interesting to see that Chris Christie can bring out bigger spenders than the current Vice President.  It's also interesting to note that Christie beat Jon Corzine in a heavily Democratic state despite being outspent by more than 3-1.

Interesting:

The latest polling shows Menendez up 10-points over Kyrillos, 43% to 33%; more interestingly, Menendez LOSES in the same poll to an unnamed opponent.

Look like Biden's coat-tails may be as short as his memory...

New Jersey Just Lovin' Their Chris Christie As Poll Numbers Skyrocket

Who would have thought a fat loud-mouthed Republican would become the darling of "Blue Jersey"?

Republican Governor Chris Christie, entering the second half of his first term, remains at record- high approval ratings among New Jersey voters as he presses lawmakers for a 10 percent income-tax cut, a survey shows.

The governor has the state “headed in the right direction,” say 51 percent in a survey released today, a 10- year high, according to Peter Woolley, the Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind poll director. Christie’s job performance won approval from 54 percent of the registered voters questioned, up from 53 percent in January and matching a record in September

“He probably should hold up a champagne glass and make a toast -- these are really good numbers,” Woolley said by telephone. “It’s really amazing when you consider that these sustained approval ratings have been through dramatic budget times, cuts at all levels and in a state where Republicans hold a distinct minority.”

Note that he's running on a tax cut for everybody - including the "notorious 1%" - and voters in this so-called solidly Democratic state still have his back. Maybe President Class Warfare could take some notes? Nah. He's the smartest guy in the room. He's got nothing to learn from anybody, especially Chris Christie. Valerie Jarrett told him so...

Well, Obama will still most likely take Jersey in November.  Voters will seek to assuage their consciousnesses for voting Christie.  But one wonders if Christie has coat-tails, or is simply respected by state voters for the unique persona/politician he is.

We'll find out.  State Senator Joe Kyrillos is running against incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) in November as well.  Kyrillos is an excellent representative (mine) and a solid, common-sense economic conservative.  Christie's already campaigning for him, raising $600K for Joe just the other day  (putting him close to $7M behind the paid-for, embarrassing, and  totally reprehensible Menendez).  Christie was outspent 3-1 by Corzine and still won, but Menendez is going to run a campaign based on division by color, by nationality, and by gender.

Let's hope our governor - the former undefeated federal prosecutor - can win his case before the people of New Jersey on this important battle as well.

Bob Menendez Blocks Obama Judicial Appointee? What's The Catch?

Why would a good little liberal like Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) block a nice Jewish Jersey girl's chance to be appointed to United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit? Especially when U.S. Magistrate Patty Shwartz was nominated by lefty godhead Barack Hussein Obama?

Bob Menendez has on occasion done the right thing for the wrong reasons. But Menendez (D-Illegal Immigrants) has only one motivation to block this innocuous appointment.

Vengeance.

Menendez doesn’t have the guts to say why he is using a federal form of senatorial courtesy. But, here’s a clue: She worked in the U.S. Attorney’s office from 1989 through 2003 — including two stints as chief of the criminal division. Her former boss, Chris Christie, endorsed her. She was close to assistant U.S. Attorney James Nobile who oversaw an investigation of a local charity with ties to Menendez.

[Sidebar:  Menendez was cleared of all wrongdoing, after Christie left the Attorney's office, by his replacement, one Paul Fishman. Menendez supported Fishman for the job, by the way. In private practice Fishman represented Jon Corzine’s gal pal/union queenpin Carla Katz, as well as developer Encap Golf Holdings, both of whom also were investigated by Christie's office. Upon taking the U.S. Attorney's job, Fishman declared there was no "culture of corruption in New Jersey, and that it was "demoralizing" to even say such a thing. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, including Chris Christie's 200-0 record convicting public figures of misdeeds while he was New Jersey's US Attorney...]

Normally this would again be a case of Menedez doing the right thing - blocking an Obama appointee - for the wrong reasons.  But Shwartz checks out OK, maybe the best you can hope for from the current administration. And one would think that having a local girl, and a Rutgers alum, moving up the judicial ranks could only be a good thing for New Jersey.

Well, it might be. But Senator Menendez has his own personal pique to look out for, first and foremost. Vengeance must be served on Chris Christie, even if it is via an innocent woman. Then he'll move on the serving the people of New Jersey, eventually...depending on their skin color and ethnic heritage, of course.

And as a secondary benefit to Menendez, it puts all current employees of Justice on notice:  If you want a career path, don't you dare delve into the corruption of liberal Democrats.  Just look the other way, and sue big corporations for hefty settlements that can be disbursed to my friends and allies...


UPDATE:  Even the New York Times is a bit stunned by the audacity here:

...the connection has led lawyers and judges in the state to speculate that Mr. Menendez is acting out of resentment, rather than any concern about Judge Shwartz’s qualifications.

“Every lawyer in the world will tell you that she’s extraordinarily qualified, a decent person and an excellent judge, and would be an asset to the circuit,” said Tom Curtin, the chairman of the lawyers’ advisory committee for the United States District Court for New Jersey. “This was going to be words and music for her, then something happened.”

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez: Caught Lying While Pushing The Obama Agenda

...and caught red-handed.  Senator Menendez (D-La Raza) is selling Obama's "Teachers and First Responders  Act", and tells a tremendous falsehood during the pitch.  Here's the video, the money quote begins at the 3:29 mark:



New Jersey alone, my home state, is facing a ten-and-a-half billion dollar shortfall in its 2012 fiscal budget," Menendez said. "This means more cuts in state and local spending for education, which means our kids are hurt."

Turns out Menendez (D-Illegal Immigrants) was just kidding. Or lying. Via Politics Patrol:

PolitiFact New Jersey put that to the test and found for the fiscal year 2012 budget adopted in June is, as required by state law, a balanced spending plan with no shortfall. “As for education spending, the budget actually increases state aid for public schools over the previous fiscal year.” When confronted with that,Tricia Enright, a spokeswoman for Menendez, acknowledged the senator was wrong to suggest there is a current budget shortfall. The verdict from PolitiFact New Jersey: “Since Menendez is wrong about there being a budget shortfall and education funding cuts, we rate this statement False.”

The whole video comes across as a bad late-night infomercial pitch.  Telling tales of his childhood and the teachers of yore, quoting baseless CNN polls ( "three out of four folks agree that my plan is the way to go!"), and rolling out cost figures with no connection to reality is what I expect from a 2AM pitch targeted at brain-dead insomniacs, not from a Senator.

"Hey, I'm making stuff up here!  Right out of thin air!"

Guess Senator Hate Speech thought nobody would notice.  It's a bit harder to get away with lying these days, Senator, no matter how much the local media protects you.  if you can't defend your proposals with the truth, perhaps that signals an issue with your...proposals?  And your character....Menendez's blatant lying either shows an appalling lack of knowledge about basic monetary issues, or shocking disrespect for the intelligence of his constituents.

And based on recent polling, the folks in Jersey don't like being lied to, either.  Better be careful there, Bobby, or you might wind up on the same unemployment line your policies have put so many other of your fellow Americans...

Will Barack Obama drag down Robert Menendez?

Well, one can only hope...

This has been the big news out of New Jersey this morning:

President Barack Obama is headed in the wrong direction as New Jersey voters disapprove 52 - 44 percent of the job he is doing...the president's lowest score ever in the Garden State.

Hey - in the land of the shady boardwalk, the locals know when they've been had by the shifty carny. Still:

New Jersey voters say 49 - 45 percent that Obama does not deserve to be reelected, but say 45 - 37 percent that they would vote for Obama over an unnamed Republican challenger in the 2012 presidential race.

So let's name one, and then see what happens.

But here's something I find even more interesting:

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez has a slightly negative 39 - 42 percent approval rating...Voters split 41 - 43 percent on whether Menendez deserves reelection in 2012, but back him 45 - 39 percent over an unnamed Republican challenger.

So let's name one.....

Menendez (D-La Raza) is a horrific Senator who has done little to nothing to advance the state's interests, while voting consistently to raise taxes on his constituents, take away their health-care choices, and flood their streets will illegal immigrants. New Jersey is a fairly liberal state, to be sure, but middle-class liberalism ends on the front lawn, and when they can't afford to mow it anymore, and find illegals napping in it, well....they'll fume silently (so as not to appear racist) and vote for the guy in the black hat.

In 2009 that hat was worn by Christie, who won despite being outspent 3-1 in a state where Democrats hold a huge registration advantage. Menendez's seat may be easy pickings for the Republicans in 2012, and it doesn't appear as if Barack Obama will have long enough coat-tails to carry his wife's fat ass, not to mention any far-left Senators in a fade-to-purple state.

Especially if Chris Christie - who was the only fellow to show a net gain an positive approval in the Quinnipiac poll at 47%-46% - is beating his ample chest about how much damage Menendez has done to New Jersey, and how much relief our as-yet unnamed Republican nominee can bring...

Bob Menendez Critical of Bi-Partisan Democrats

Is it because when Democrats talk about "bi-partisanship", what they really mean is "stop arguing with me and just do what I want?"

New Jersey's Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza), a mediocrity if there ever was one, is now sticking his nose into local state politics, and demanding that New Jersey legislators stop coming to agreements with Governor Chris Christie:

New Jersey's leading Democrat is fed up with top party members' cozying up to Republican Gov. Chris Christie -- and he's imploring them to remember that Christie isn't their friend.

"You have to think about what you're doing," Sen. Bob Menendez told The Post, explaining his pitch to party leaders. "There is a difference between what one must do to govern and what one does politically."

Sure, there are times when Democrats and Republicans need to work together, Menendez said, but the already reeling Democratic Party in New Jersey has to right itself.

"Look, I've worked with the governor," Menendez said. "There's a difference between working with the governor on government and engaging with the governor on politics."

Is seems as if he's saying that Democrats should come to agreements with Chris Christie behind close doors on how best to govern the state, then blast him for it afterwards, rather than appear on stage to take partial credit for a bi-partisan agreement.

I guess that's how it works in Washington - after all, every time Obama makes some sort of deal with House Republicans (remember the extension of the Bush tax cuts?), he immediately makes a speech denouncing the very deal he just made, as well as the people he made it with.

Menendez (D-Illegal Immigrants) supports demagoguery over good government, I suppose. (here's an example of how he thinks it ought to be done) Well, that's his prerogative, but I'm not sure how much stock New Jersey Democrats should put in his opinion. Recent polls have shown some bizarre numbers for Menendez:

A quick glance shows 28 percent of those polled had a favorable opinion of Menendez, which would be cause for alarm until you see that 19 percent viewed him unfavorably.

What might be considered troubling is that 52 percent had no opinion of the Democrat or they have not heard of him. Let's hope that there are not many New Jersey voters who have not heard of one of the two elected U.S. senators that represents them.

Well, maybe if he actually represented New Jersey voters, instead of illegal immigrants and La Raza, folks would pay him more mind. Which would not be a good thing for Bob Menendez. While Jersey has traditionally been a blue state, it has been drifting towards the center as residents are getting crushed by some of the nation's highest taxes and are sick of seeing their hard-earned dollars wasted on union payouts and non-productive schools.

Menendez, meanwhile, is a big union fan, a huge supporter of the public education status quo, and has voted to raise taxes on a national level every chance he can. Which is not likely to go over with the voters well, once they get a chance to know him better for the 2012 election.

Smart New Jersey Democrats - as in the ones who want to keep their day job - are well advised to keep their distance...

Update: Seems as if Menendez is taking direction from Paul Krugman. Good luck with that...

Bob Menendez Is Right: Qaddafi IS a Terrorist!

We do our fair share - and then some - of Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) bashing, but we'll give him credit for being right for a change.

US Senator Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee - released the following statement urging President Obama in his remarks to the country tonight to remind Americans about Muammar Qaddafi’s role in ordering the bombing of Pan Am 103 in 1988. "

Qaddafi is a terrorist – the moral equivalent of Osama bin Laden – a man who ordered the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which killed 270, including 34 New Jerseyans, and who in 2009 swapped a lucrative oil deal in exchange for the release of the convicted Pan Am bomber. A man President Ronald Reagan referred to as ‘this mad dog of the Middle East’ because of his relentless instigation of and support for terrorism. A man who has trained terrorists in North Africa and has proven that his reign of terror extends well beyond his own national and regional borders. A man who referred to the 1985 slaughter of innocent travelers, including an eleven-year-old American child, by terrorists at the Rome and Vienna airports as a ‘noble act.’ There is no question that, if given the chance, Qaddafi will continue to support terrorism and, therefore, continue to threaten Americans at home and abroad. That is why a Libyan no fly zone is not only in the interest of the international community, but is also in the national security interest of the United States.”

Ironically, if Obama had used some of this language last night (or earlier, had he been so inclined to talk to us plebes), he might find support for his Libyan war to be more robust. But Obama, the king of moral equivalence, no doubt sees gobs of it between Libya's historical atrocities and those "committed" by The Great Satan. He can no more raise Menendez's point than he can cut taxes, it goes so against his grain that even with the Teleprompter's urging, it is unlikely he can get the words out.

More's the pity. As Obama and the Democrats are about to find out, 2012 is going to be about moral clarity, on multiple issues. The days of fudging with fine oratory has passed. Will likely leave this particular president as a fish out of water, as details, facts, logic, and honesty are a wee bit out of his reach. And if Obama can get outflanked by the likes of a Ronald Reagan-quoting liberal like Bob Menendez on the issues of war and moral clarity, well, he's in way, way worse shape than I ever imagined...

Frank Lautenberg Soils Himself, Again...

....and all of New Jersey cringes in shame. Trust me, in the new political climate that has taken hold in the Garden State, there is little to no chance either of our Senatorial buffoons, Mr, Lautenberg or Bob Menendez (D-La Raza), will get re-elected.

Well, Lautenberg is 87 years old, so it is unlikely he'll go for it again in 2014. Based on his insane ramblings at some sort of pro-abortion rally the other day, perhaps it is best if he simply retires to the day room and stares quietly out the window for the remainder of his term. Via Hot Air:

Sounds like Old Man Lautenberg is talking about Obamacare, actually. But perhaps, like the crazy geezer who I see in the Port Authority every day, it is best just to walk right by him and ignore his incoherent monologues. it is kinder to treat him thus, rather than take him seriously and force him to face his oncoming dementia...

FYI, that is what most of us are doing in Jersey these days, even many Democrats - just turning our heads and feeling a slight onrush of shame that he does "represent us" in the U.S. Senate. Of course, he does nothing of the sort, he merely represents the furthest-left interests of the Democratic party, despite the detrimental effect it has on the people he is paid to represent.

But this too will change. Menendez's (D-Illegal Immigrants) turn will come first...

Chris Christie v. Chuck Schumer, Round II

...Schmuckie Schumer is f*cking with the wrong guy here, and he's looking stupider every day (if such a thing is possible). Yesterday, he blasted Chris Christie’s decision to cancel the insanely expensive ARC tunnel as “one of the most shortsighted in New York’s history" as he demanded that Chris Christie restart the project.

Of course, Christie works for the people of New Jersey, and not New York, and Schumer's fury is largely based on the fact that Jersey was going to get stuck with anywhere between $5-$8 billion in cost overruns, while New York would simply get additional tourists and investment-free tax revenue. A con man hates it when the target gets wise and busts the scam, hence Schumer's impotent rage.

Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak:

"Where was the senior senator from New York with funding alternatives to a project that was predicted to run billions over projections - all of which were to be borne by New Jersey and its taxpayers? This was a 'bi-state' project for which Senator Schumer's state and the federal government were set to pay zero, zilch, nothing for the cost overruns. We can live with the criticism while protecting taxpayers from this boondoggle, which was simply a bad deal for New Jersey."

Drewniak went further in questioning Senator's Schumer's timing and motivation in slamming Governor Christie's decision on ARC, which was made in October.

"I'll also give Senator Schumer the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't brush up on the topic before he spoke. Unless, of course, his remarks are merely political, which is always a possibility," Drewniak said.

And from Chris Christie himself:

"I'll say what I said about other senators. Their job is easy. They get to sit in front of microphones and bloviate. I've got to balance budgets...If Senator Schumer would like to tell me where he was going to get the additional $5 billion? I f he's got it - since he's such an important guy in the U.S. Senate maybe he's got it himself. If he wants to offer me $5 billion, then maybe we can have a conversation. Until that time, he should mind his manners on the other side of the Hudson River."

It will be interesting to see what kind of damage Schumer tries to inflict on New Jersey from his perch in the Senate. Ironic that, whatever damage he intends to do, he will likely get help from New Jersey Senators Lautenberg (D-Living Dead) and Menendez (D-La Raza), who would rather line the union's pocketbooks than protect the citizens of the state they claim to represent from a project will surely bankrupt New Jersey...

But a note to Schumer: Trying to intimidate Chris Christie is a waste of time. Just ask Ray Lahood...
