Kent Conrad: Thanksgiving Turkey
Sucker.
You see, all the above applies as pertains to your surface appearance - skin color, gender, size, potential disability, sexual preference...and none of it applies as to the way you think. Under Democratic rule, there is only one way to think - their way - so follow along, or get the f*ck out of their country.
So sayeth Senator Kent Conrad (D-N.D.):
"We have tried terrorists in our courts and done so very successfully in the past and that is our system. So if people don’t believe in our system, maybe they ought to go somewhere else. I believe in America.”
And apparently, anyone who disagrees with him does not. A man who simply, truly does not get it - "it" being what it means to be an American citizen, and the rights and privileges that follow therein:
Thanksgiving 2009
The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. ~H.U. Westermayer

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. ~Meister Eckhart

Albert Einstein on "Global Warming"
In reference to the so-called "consensus" of scientists that the media (and the Democrats) used to push global warming as a "fact", when recently uncovered evidence has proven that the whole damn thing was a mere hoax, we bring you Dr. Einstein:
In the Nazi period, 100 “Aryan” scientists signed a statement against Einstein — saying that the theory of relativity was a Jewish hoax or whatever.
Asked to comment on this, Einstein said, “If what they are saying were true, one signature would have been enough.”
The lesson:
In science, as in other areas of life, beware the bandwagon.
Wish the good doctor had warned us before we put Mr. HopeandChange into the Oval Office...
All Your Xbox Are Belong To Us!
Watch, as they "voluntarily" move into your Wii, PlayStation, and XBox:
In the event of an emergency, the state of New York may seize control of your Xbox.
Video games will pause and warnings about imminent danger, severe weather or Amber alerts will appear on the screen, under a new notification system for Xbox, Wii and PlayStation set to go live next year.
"Not all people receive information just through radio and TV, so the idea is to reach them through other avenues," said Dennis Michalski, a spokesman for the state Emergency Management.
The video-game alerts will also be voluntary, Michalski said.
But officials are working with technology companies to devise a non-voluntary version of the alerts, which could push messages to every cellphone and video-game system in the event of a life-threatening situation, Michalski said.
Well, that didn't take long to go from "voluntary" to "non-voluntary", did it? A dozen words later, what is being pitched as the helping hand of government becomes the government forcing you to stop your activities and pay attention to them, and to whatever they feel you need to be told.
Not too Orwellian, not too authoritarian...and of course, this latest hack at our freedom to just be left alone is all in the name of "our own good". The government, again, knowing best what that is for each and every individual citizen...
Soft tyranny, right through your gaming system.

The Perfect Woman

Barack Obama does not have Angelina Jolie's seal of approval.
"She hates him," a source close to the U.N. goodwill ambassador, 34, tells the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands now).
"She's into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise," adds the source.
But don't expect to see the Salt actress rally against Democrats on Fox News like her staunch Republican father, Jon Voight.
"Angie isn't Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors," the source says
What's my Angelina fantasy? Watching this crazy sh*t go down:
Angelina’s political views have apparently caused friction between the Salt star and her partner Brad Pitt, with whom she raises six children.

“They get in nasty arguments all the time about it,” says the source. “She doesn’t respect Brad when it comes to politics, but, in the end, this won’t tear them apart.”
Navy SEALS to be Court-Martialed For Capturing a Terrorist?
Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.
The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.
Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.
Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
Remember this?

The Fallujah atrocity came to symbolize the brutality of the enemy in Iraq and the degree to which a homegrown insurgency was extending its grip over Iraq.
The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.
Intelligence sources identified Abed as the ringleader, but he had evaded capture until September.
Abed will likely get a cot and three hots in a stateside prison, and an opportunity to harangue the United States in a civilian courtroom as well.
And it is our brave SEALS who will now have to face the music in front of a military tribunal, all for an alleged fat lip.To quote the Wicked Witch of the West, as she lay melting, melting:
"Oh, what a world, what a world...."
Barack Obama: Only Half a Hanukkah This Year!
Officials in the Obama administration have decided that they will be cutting the guest list in half for this year’s Hanukkah party at the White House...
....while the size of the party may not be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, even some of Obama’s supporters may see it in the context of this longer train of politically tone-deaf decisions.
It's not as if Obama is trying to save some money (ha!); he's going all out on his first state dinner, and filling the guest list with those most crucial of all Americans: Hollywood-types!
...this first dinner is primarily a thank you to the Obamas' most important political supporters. ...among the Hollywood contingent asked to attend, are onetime DreamWorks partners David Geffen, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg; Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Michael Lynton; and WME Entertainment Agency co-CEO Ari Emanuel.
And of course, remember Obama threw the first-ever Ramadan feast in the White House, where he showered the Muslim world with unfettered praise. Guess he had to get the money from somewhere....how ironic if it were taken from the "Hanukkah Fund"!
Ironic, but not surprising, given Barack Obama's overt hostility towards Israel and American Jews. It'll take more than a cancelled Hanukkah party (or any of the other slights listed above) to sway the Jewish vote; my people are not unlike an abused wife, who takes the beatings in stride because she is so convinced that her vicious partner - deep down inside - loves her, and is doing it all for a good reason...
Barack Obama: Behold Narcissus !
...yes, "leader of the year", whatever the hell that means. Not sure what the editors were thinking here; were they overcome with their manlove for The One, or did they quite understandably believe they were now living in a third-world banana republic, where survival is based upon one's ability to fawn over the commandant...
(Why not pick Mark Sanchez, for instance?)
Me? I'd find this embarrassing, but then again, I would be embarrassed if the Nobel Committee awarded me the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award after only six months on the job.
Well, that Nobel didn't bother Obama one bit - word is he can't wait to get it on his trophy shelf - and it should be no surprise that this GQ cover didn't bother him either. Behold Narcissus:
Yup, that's The One all right, hopping into a 10 MPG vehicle, clutching tightly onto the new issue of GQ, with his visage staring right back at him.
An echo chamber? Obama prefers a room of mirrors, where all around him is his own sainted image, certified as such by his hand-fed media. How can he be wrong, when everyone says he is so right?
No wonder the guy hates FOX News. They're a crack in the mirror, one that distorts his image in a way that is unrecognizable to his conscious. But rather than examine the image, he chooses to polish the mirrors, and shut out those who would reflect him in a less-than-perfect light.
Unrelenting narcissism? Check. Limitless egotism? Check. An inability to see one's imperfections? Check. A complete lack of desire to absorb criticism? Check.
Is it any surprise he is uninterested in the rising domestic opposition to his policies? After all, how can he be wrong? Jesus, just look at the cover of GQ! He's the leader of the year! Bow, and get out of thy way!
A dangerous type of person to be leading America? Check....

New Jersey: Teachers Gone Wild!
From an annoyed editorial board at the Asbury Park-Press:
Teacher consultant Lorraine Taddei-Graef has appealed the district school board's decision to reduce her salary and ban her from using or making reference to her doctorate degree from Breyer State University, an unaccredited online school that has been labeled a diploma mill.
Taddei-Graef is going to court, claiming that any punishment she got for procuring a phony Ph.D. and using it to secure more money was "arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable."
Is she kidding? The state Commission of Higher Education ruled that four district employees with Breyer State degrees could not use their doctoral titles. Why? Because the degrees were bogus. And if they were bogus, they shouldn't be entitled to the $2,500 salary bump accorded those with legitimate doctorates.
Taddei-Graef's legal appeal not only will cost taxpayers more money, but set another terrible example for students, who should be taught that you earn your grades through hard work and discipline — not short cuts and arrogance.
But what is the point of being in a union, if not to learn the short-cuts and developed a finely-honed sense of entitlement as well as a king-sized shoulder-chip via unabridged arrogance?
Columnist Bob Ingle comes down on the New Jersey schools as well - same paper, same day. Ouch:
Waste comes from bloated bureaucracy. With all the money dumped into the 31 school districts that used to be designated as Abbott, there is precious little to show for it because so little gets to the classroom. It is drained off by needless administrators who have assistants who have assistants and they all have secretaries.
One gets the impression schools in New Jersey aren't about educating kids but a public works project like something out of Roosevelt's Great Depression era, except these people are making six-figure salaries and will get fat pensions with health care for life for them and their families...
And that's the problem with unions in America. It's not about working hard, or even doing what is required or requested - it is about getting as much as one can for the union and oneself while exerting as little effort as possible, perhaps the antithesis of the American ideal. And if your employer's business should fail, or your students should fail - big freakin' deal! Who's gonna fight the union and hold you to account? And, if by some strange set of circumstances you are called out, there is still always that opportunity to cash in via a frivolous lawsuit!
Teacher's unions are often the easiest target for criticism, as they are responsible for educating the nation's children, as well as for preventing the spread of non-union (charter) schools. So when we see them turning the state school system into a giant milking cow for their own use, with our kids suffering for their greed, well - it gets folks pretty worked up, especially in a place like New Jersey, where the school system is used as an excuse for insanely high property tax levies.
One would hope that the state's teachers would be smart enough to realize this and tread carefully and wisely. But based on the story of Lorraine Taddei-Graef, and Ingle's point above, it seems as if it's an every-man-for-himself cash grab, and if a few students get trampled on the way to the line for false PHDs, well...let's just say as long as the money keeps coming in, there's little concern for the state of these pupils.
Only with strict reform can losers like Lorraine be kicked out, and dollars are better allocated so as to give New Jersey's students a fighting chance. Unfortunately, these stories only indicate one thing: When the teachers win, the students lose...

Democrats Take On The Catholic Church

Via sisu:
Pope Benedict met artists from around the world in the Sistine Chapel on Saturday and urged them to inject spirituality into their work, saying contemporary beauty was often 'illusory and deceitful," reports Reuters. Compare Papa Ratzi's open invitation to engage in an expansive search for truth with President Obama's secretive, craven attempts to use the art community as a tool of the state to propagandize his own not-so-hidden statist agenda.
Apt analogy. But one notices that the Democrats (now that they have finally obtained absolute power) have not only dropped all pretensions of piety (what church do the Obamas go to, anyway?), but they are launching full-scale broadsides against the Catholic Church and its bishops as they wrangle over taxpayer-funded abortions in the Senate health care bill.
And how ironic that a Kennedy would be on the front lines, fighting against everything that is good and decent in this world. Baby Patrick started the battle, but it looks like the Church might win the war:
Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin has banned Rep. Patrick Kennedy from receiving Communion, the central sacrament of the church, in Rhode Island because of the congressman's support for abortion rights, Kennedy said in a newspaper interview published Sunday.
The dispute between the two men began in October when Kennedy in an interview on CNSNews.com criticized the nation's Catholic bishops for threatening to oppose a massive expansion of the nation's health care system unless it included tighter restrictions on federally funded abortion.
Kennedy's allies in Congress are fighting back against the powers of good, as Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) talks about denying the Church its 1st Amendment rights:
She also said that religiously-affiliated groups like the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which had pushed for the Stupak provision, should be shut out of the process.
"Last I heard, we had separation of church and state in this country," she said. "I've got to say that I think the Catholic bishops and all of the other groups shouldn't have input."
Note the contrast to the Sistine Chapel statement. The Pope asks artists to inject spirituality into their work, the Obami ask themselves to take spirituality out of their work. The Church looks to open its arms to all in the search for truth and beauty, while Congress has turned to strict partisanship in order to exert control and limit input and opposition.
It is no surprise that these two institutions find themselves at odds. Truthfully, of course, Congress is completely within its rights to ignore the Church's wishes, and the Church is completely within its rights to deny communion to rabid Congressman.
But will the American people take a side in this fight? Has the hubris (and Constitutional disregard) of the Democratic party reached the point where it feels it can control the state and the people's primary religious organization? Are they operating under the belief that they can take down the church and destroy the religious right in one fell swoop, thus increasing the odds of their dreams of a permanent majority?
Well, over-reaching has been their specialty these past eleven months. Will they take on American Catholicism, and pit God's law against their own?
That's the road they seem to be travelling on...let's just hope they don't drag the rest of the nation down into hell with them...
Did Michelle Obama Drive Oprah Out of Chicago?
The National Inquirer reports on how the First "Lady" has usurped and exiled the Doyenne of Daytime:
A distraught Oprah Winfrey is telling pals her "thank you" for helping Barack Obama win the presidency has been a knife in the back.
A jealous first lady has frozen the talk queen out of the White House inner circle, say insiders. "Oprah is devastated," revealed a friend.
"She had no idea that Michelle was so jealous about the influence she had on Barack. She hated the way her husband would huddle with Oprah over strategy and jump when she called.
....Michelle has made it clear she is no longer interested in being friends with Oprah and is going to block her from access to the President."
Looks like Michelle has her own version of the Obama "bus" -maybe a minivan with 18-inch deep-tread tires - that she uses to roll over those who have outlived their usefulness...or are cutting into her influence with her husband....
Welcome to the club, Oprah. Hey - we were promised Hope and Change, and all we got was slapstick socialism. Why should you make out any better? Your support for Barack Obama cost you viewers and your aura, and your star has declined with his. You exchanged your invaluable personal currency for what you thought would be a girlfriend in the White House and a president's ear, but instead got hustled, defrauded, and shown the door.
And as you wind down your show (the way many a middle-class businessman are winding down their shops under the Rule of the One), and while you might be exiled from Chicago - Michelle cannot let a perceived rival, especially a fellow "Queen", continue to rule such an important strategic outpost - you at least have a mansion on the West Coast and $2.7 billion to tide you over from the madness you have brought upon us.
We who have less knew better, but alas, we don't all have talk shows.
And where the hell is this issue of Newsweek, by the way? I've been looking and looking and looking all over...

Saturday Night Liberal Nudity !

And although it does not quite fit the infamous "rule 5" format, this story does give us a chance to dig up a semi-nude shot of one Alexandra Kerry, who got herself in some hot soup in Hollywood:
LOS ANGELES – The daughter of Sen. John Kerry was arrested Thursday in Hollywood for allegedly driving drunk.
Alexandra Kerry, 36, was stopped by officers at about 12:40 a.m. and booked at the Hollywood police station for investigation of driving under the influence, Officer April Harding said.
She was held for about five hours and released at about 5:30 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail, Harding said....
Question: What are Mammograms and Pap Smears?
My mammogram piece is here; and it asks two rhetorical questions: Why is the government fighting to cut back crucial cancer testing that can save lives, while fighting to pay for abortions, which only ends lives?
The second question, well, I ask that this piece from the New York Times on why we can oh-so-easily cut back on pap smears with no serious loss of life....
New guidelines for cervical cancer screening say women should delay their first Pap test until age 21, and be screened less often than recommended in the past.
The advice, from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, is meant to decrease unnecessary testing and potentially harmful treatment, particularly in teenagers and young women. The group’s previous guidelines had recommended yearly testing for young women, starting within three years of their first sexual intercourse, but no later than age 21.
Arriving on the heels of hotly disputed guidelines calling for less use of mammography, the new recommendations might seem like part of a larger plan to slash cancer screening for women. But the timing was coincidental, said Dr. Cheryl B. Iglesia....
Sure it was. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are a bit skeptical:
Senator Tom Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma who is also a physician, said in an interview that he would continue to offer Pap smears to sexually active young women. Democratic proposals to involve the government more deeply in the nation’s health care system, he said, would lead the new mammography, Pap smear and other guidelines to be adopted without regard to patient differences, hurting many people.
“These are going to be set in stone,” Mr. Coburn said.
Senator Arlen Specter, a Pennsylvania Democrat and longtime advocate for cancer screening, said in an interview: “And this Pap smear guideline is yet another cut back in screening? That is curious.”
So here's my second question: Why do so many women vote Democratic, when they are vocally and actively fighting to cut back on services that help keep them alive? Why do so many women vote Democratic, when the party (and its handmaidens in the media) perform nothing less than psychological rape on them when they dare to wander off the liberal philosophical plantation?
Ann Althouse gets it, and leads us to more disparaging of women in the medical/political community (again touted in the NYT); now we learn that females in pain are just sissies that can easily - and cheaply - be forced to "man up":
We'll save even more money if we just get these women who are bitching about pain to hold their boyfriend's hand or look at a picture of their kid.
She adds:
And one thing in this emerging rationality is clear: Although women tend to love the notion of government control more than men do, it is women who will be told they'll have to cut back. On treatments. And years. You know we've been taking more than our share.
Nothing like protecting the more vulnerable members of society, right? Liberalism is virtue at a discounted price, where saving money is worth the death of two teenage girls out of every million...
Nobody has been screwed as badly by the Obama administration than women and Jews. Both of whom voted strongly for this leadership. Well, they got what they voted for. One hopes that both groups are learning their lessons - albeit the hard way - and will be sadder but wiser when they next hit the voting booths...
MSNBC Beats Up Little Girl, Sneers About it Later
The young lady recounts the entire experience on her blog; it's worth reading. A excerpt:
In one day I met a role model, and met the liberal media and their crafty schemes. I fell prey to liberal bias, but I’d like to think I did an okay job. We always want do-overs, and I can assure you if I had a do-over with Miss O’Donnell you’d see a much more prepared (well rested) and ready to go at it side of this 17 year old. But unlike Norah I didnt have my note cards with me. I was forced to think on the spot and answer a gotcha question. Her goal was clear, make this teenager look like an uneducated Palin supporting buffoon. To liberals, and the 5 people who watch MSNBC she succeeded. To conservatives, she was the only buffoon during that interview.
And for the umpteenth time...I am having more and more trouble understanding why any women, regardless of race or economic class, would vote Democratic. When they are not trying to eliminate your ability to get crucial medical testing, they are emotionally gang-raping you should you dare stray off the liberal reservation.
Don't believe me? Look at a remark on Whore-a O'Donnell's Twitter feed -directed at our teenage friend - once she realized the spit had hit the fan:
hey didn't u go to fetch me some coffee? RT @mariamenounos @NorahODonnell so many haters...so little time.haha
We can all only hope that Whore-a soon will have plenty of time to sit around and dispense hate at teenage girls via Twitter, and nowhere else. Lady, if you had any shame, you'd be feeling it now...

The New York Times Will Not Suffer Heretics !
The documents will undoubtedly raise questions about the quality of research on some specific questions and the actions of some scientists. But the evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so broad and deep that the hacked material is unlikely to erode the overall argument.
Sounds like wishful thinking from the Times, especially at a time when more people believe in ghosts than global warming. The evidence is neither broad or deep (not that the Times article uses any facts or citations to buttress their argument); and the empty boast made by Times writer Andrew Revkin here is more self-reinforcement than reporting supported by facts.
Still, some of the comments might lend themselves to sinister interpretations...
...says the NYT, then goes on to do a contortionist's act in order to explain away the obvious, including ridiculous explanations by the scientists in question. Explanations that, of course, naturally go unquestioned.
This may not be the" Berlin Wall moment" when the climate change game comes tumbling down, instead, it is a severe crack, one that runs to the foundation of climate science itself. But the whole idea of "global warming" has now been severely weakened, making it vulnerable to collapse with just a few more blows.
And they will come, and most likely climate change will be destroyed by its own hand. Con men fall when they can't quit the game or when they go too far; it seems as if this bizarre left-wing branch of science is tottering on a precipice right now. Too full of pride to turn back, the fall is thus preordained, and is only a matter of time...
GLOBAL WARMING REVEALED AS MASSIVE HOAX !
An example:
Dear Ray, Mike and Malcolm,
Once Tim’s got a diagram here we’ll send that either later today or first thing tomorrow.
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999 for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998. Thanks for the comments, Ray.

Hi all
Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming ? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record low, well below the previous record low.
This is January weather (see the Rockies baseball playoff game was canceled on saturday and then played last night in below freezing weather).

The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.***

We probably need to say more about this. Land warming since 1980 has been twice the ocean warming — and skeptics might claim that this proves that urban warming is real and important.
See attached note.

Phil,
Here are some speculations on correcting SSTs to partly explain the 1940s warming blip. If you look at the attached plot you will see that theland also shows the 1940s blip (as I’m sure you know).
So, if we could reduce the ocean blip by, say, 0.15 degC, then this would be significant for the global mean – but we’d still have to explain the land blip. I’ve chosen 0.15 here deliberately. This still leaves an ocean blip, and i think one needs to have some form of ocean blip to explain the land blip (via either some common forcing, or ocean forcing land, or vice versa, or all of these). When you look at other blips, the land blips are 1.5 to 2 times (roughly) the ocean blips—higher sensitivity plus thermal inertia effects. My 0.15 adjustment leaves things consistent with this, so you can see where I am coming from.
Removing ENSO does not affect this.
It would be good to remove at least part of the 1940s blip, but we are still left with “why the blip”.
Let me go further. If you look at NH vs SH and the aerosol effect (qualitatively or with MAGICC) then with a reduced ocean blip we get continuous warming in the SH, and a cooling in the NH—just as one would expect with mainly NH aerosols.
The other interesting thing is (as Foukal et al. note – from MAGICC) that the 1910-40 warming cannot be solar. The Sun can get at most 10% of this with Wang et al solar, less with Foukal solar. So this may well be NADW, as Sarah and I noted in 1987 (and also Schlesinger later). A reduced SST blip in the 1940s makes the 1910-40 warming larger than the SH (which it currently is not)—but not really enough.
So ... why was the SH so cold around 1910? Another SST problem? (SH/NH data also attached.)
This stuff is in a report I am writing for EPRI, so I’d appreciate any comments you (and Ben) might have.
Tom.
Click on the links; there is more, so much more. This might be the biggest scientific scandal in modern times; I cannot recollect an instance where scientists reported false results, manipulated information, and possibly "fixed" peer review of their data.
What was the poison here? Government money. Money that only showed up if you provided the "data" that fit into a premeditated result; one that was part and parcel of the ruling class. The liberal ruling class, mind you, the same ones who have always accused the right of "politicizing science".
Well, far from politicizing it, they've corrupted it, perverted it, and have created a crisis in confidence in the scientific method that can harm the entire future development of mankind.
Well, I'm sure that doesn't bother them too much. Liberals only care about intentions, not results, and if millions die because of their policies, it's not their fault, because their intentions were good!
After all, we only wanted to save the planet..so we lied to the world, wasted billions of dollars, and altered economies in a disastrous fashion. You can't blame us! We meant well!
And somewhere, why do I think Barack Obama - if he's as smart as everyone claims - is currently breathing a huge sigh of relief?
Climate Change Whores
The effects of climate change have driven women in communities in coastal areas in poor countries like the Philippines into dangerous work, and sometimes even the flesh trade, a United Nations official said.
Suneeta Mukherjee, country representative of the United Nations Food Population Fund (UNFPA), said women in the Philippines are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change in the country.
“Climate change could reduce income from farming and fishing, possibly driving some women into sex work and thereby increase HIV infection," Mukherjee said during the Wednesday launch of the UNFPA annual State of World Population Report in Pasay City.
Well, some might consider this less than a bad thing - after all, adding more working girls to the prostitution pool should lower prices, allowing for more frequent purchases or more use of high-end retailers....
I kid. But the UN takes itself seriously, and that's always been a scary thing. Bottom line is, if you have to stretch it this far - climate change will turn the women of the world into trick-turning AIDS carriers! - then all I can tell you, pal, is that you've lost the argument.
It seems as if even the UN knows this, though, and is just blowing smoke to get member nations to up the contribution ante by giving us the old "women and minorities take it on the chin" narrative. Note their recommendations to alleviate the oncoming hooker hoedown:
•Prioritize research and date collection to improve the understanding of gender and population dynamics in climate change mitigation and adaptation;
•Integrate gender considerations into global efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Seems like the only folks who are turning into climate change whores are at the United Nations. Or maybe D.C., where the hot air blows hard and heavy. With no further comment:
Washington, D.C., beat all 50 states to post the highest rates in the nation for the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) Chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis, according to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
UPDATE: In a serendipitous coincidence, it appears as if the Britain's pre-eminent climate change pseudo-scientific propaganda outlet - the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit - has had its computers hacked. And what has been discovered?:
...what appears to be genuine documents and emails exposing the shabby treatment of science by these so-called climatologists is appalling. Emails expressing joy that a scientist who disagreed with their research has died. Documents describing how they are covering up the scientific facts they don't like because it proves them wrong.

Senate Health Care Bill: Fan-TAX-Tic!
1. 40% excise tax on health coverage in excess of $8,500 (individuals) / $23,000 (families). Amounts are indexed for inflation by CPI-U + 1% – begins in 2013 – $149 B tax increase
2. Additional 0.5% Medicare (Hospital Insurance) tax on wages in excess of $200,000 ($250,000 for joint filers) – begins in 2013 – $54 B tax increase
3. Impose annual fee on manufacturers and importers of branded drugs – begins in 2010 – $22 B tax increases
4. Impose annual fee on manufacturers and importers of certain medical devices – begins in 2010 – $19 B tax increase
5. Cut in half (to $500K) the amount of an executive’s compensation that a health plan can deduct from its corporate income taxes – begins in 2013 – $600 million tax increase
6. Impose 5% excise tax on cosmetic surgery and similar procedures – begins for surgery in 2010 – $6 B tax increase!
In total the bill would raise taxes by $370 B over ten years
This, too, is telling:
Reid has decided to raise the Medicare payroll tax on individuals making more than $106,800...
What does that do? Depresses hiring. For every penny you see taken out of your paycheck under the payroll tax, your employer pays an equal amount. How can we get companies hiring again when the government is now charging them - in the middle of a crippling recession - more than ever to add jobs?
What will be the result of this bill? Everyone who has worked their whole lives to get good work-related health benefits will see a tremendous hike in their premiums to pay for those who do not work. Innovation in both breakthrough drugs and diagnostic equipment will falter, as their cost becomes prohibitive. Lines at doctor's offices and emergency rules will become massive as 40 million patients are given insurance privileges without one single medical professional being added.
Once-vital tests will be now deemed "unnecessary" (oh, sorry, that's already happening in anticipation of the passage of health care reform - and why do women vote Democratic, anyway?), killing some Americans due to late diagnosis; others will die as they sit on waiting lists to get desperately needed surgery.
And the whole American standard of living will collapse under the weight of a system that cannot even support itself without three extra years of taxation with no service in the first decade. Reid's tax on folks making over $106K is not accidental; it essentially eliminates the middle to upper-middle class entirely, leaving us with a split economic strata: The extremely wealthy, and everyone else, smushed down in a low, lower-middle class, where taxation rates and lack of upward economic mobility in a permanently depressed economy finally eliminates hope - and the American dream, so loathed by beneficiaries like the Obamas - forever.
Why, we'll be just like Cuba. Or Venezuela. Or Europe (check out England, where $35K is now "middle class").
What a surprise.
It's not a slippery slope, it's a rocket ship to the bottom, and the pilots can't wait to get there...

Taxes Are For Suckers!
Maybe Obama should go after his chums and associates before squeezing more ducats out of what remains of the middle class...
(1) twelve late payments of real estate and personal property taxes, and late payment of unemployment taxes; (2) failure to timely file employment eligibility verification forms for her household help; and (3) failure to substantiate home office deductions

Obama's Stupidity To Set Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Free?
Apparently not. Not even when his entire presidency hangs in the balance:
President Barack Obama predicted that professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will be convicted, as Attorney General Eric Holder defended putting him through the U.S. civilian legal system.
In one of a series of TV interviews during his trip to Asia, Obama said those offended by the legal privileges given to Muhammed by virtue of getting a civilian trial rather than a military tribunal won't find it "offensive at all when he's convicted and when the death penalty is applied to him."
Obama quickly added that he did not mean to suggest he was prejudging the outcome of Mohammed's trial. "I'm not going to be in that courtroom," he said. "That's the job of the prosecutors, the judge and the jury."
"Quickly added" only after it was pointed out to him — by NBC's Chuck Todd — that the first statement would be taken as the president's interfering in the trial process.
Great. So now KSM already has a built-in appeal, the "tainted jury". Don't think for a moment that his defense lawyers won't be all over this. Obama's narcissism and sheer stupidity might have just set the worst person in the world (no, Keith, not Sarah Palin) free to commit mass murder on American soil one more time.
Silver lining: Maybe a judge, upon hearing the appeal, will agree with KSM and set a new trial...overseas, at a US military institution, where he should have been tried to begin with....

Eliminating Mammograms to Pay For Abortion?
Breast exam guidelines now call for less testing
Women in their 40s should stop routinely having annual mammograms and older women should cut back to one scheduled exam every other year, an influential federal task force has concluded, challenging the use of one of the most common medical tests.
"We're not saying women shouldn't get screened. Screening does saves lives," said Diana B. Petitti, vice chairman of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which released the recommendations Monday in a paper being published in Tuesday's Annals of Internal Medicine. "But we are recommending against routine screening. There are important and serious negatives or harms that need to be considered carefully."
How coincidental, that just as the government is about to take over the medical profession - while under heavy criticism for the cost - it is declaring certain tests to be less necessary!
Two thoughts jump to mind:
-I guess it's a lot easier to demand that women take/be provided with certain annual medical tests when someone else is paying the bill. Funny here too is how government can simultaneously impose the cost of regulation upon everyone else, but when it hits them, well...just change the science/change the regulation to make it more government-friendly! Too bad every other industry can't do that.
-Amazing how poorly served women are by the Democratic party. The Dems demand that health care reform include abortion on demand; and to pay for it, they'll cut back on mammograms. They will eliminate the opportunity for middle-class families to even bring their kids to the doctor as the politicians add 40 million people to the insurance rolls without adding one doctor. And already, their incompetence has made it impossible for kids with swine flu to even get the proper medication (see here for how pharmacists are mixing their own liquid Tamiflu), when more kids are dying from H1N1 than any other flu in recent history.
(Not to mention that the Obama administration is strictly a boy's club, who has completely marginalized their most high-profile female (Hillary); and when not giving her the finger get busy gang-raping Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean).
A third thought:
"Tens of thousands of lives are being saved by mammography screening, and these idiots want to do away with it," said Daniel B. Kopans, a radiology professor at Harvard Medical School. "It's crazy -- unethical, really."
It's government health care -- really. Get used to it.
Newsweek Soils Itself, Again...
Perhaps it was to be expected; Newsweek was once a highly-respected opinion-forming glossy; their fall would be reckoned as one of the hardest. But like a man condemned to be consumed by a Black Death, there is no dignity in their final hours; there is only the leering decadence of a a soul that will finally fulfill all of their dark fantasies, knowing it will never face a mortal judgement day.
I bring you...Newsweek:
...A few weeks after acknowledging half its letters were critical of Joe Biden (but publishing none of them), they proclaimed their Al Gore cover was unpopular. Forty-six percent of their letter writers wrote on the subject of Gore, and 74 percent of them were critical. Still, Newsweek ran only positive letters.
Like this one, urging genocide (by man or nature):

As a six-continent bicycle traveler for the past 35 years, I admire Al Gore addressing climate change. However, he fails to highlight the basic factor accelerating it: human overpopulation. Either we address it, or Mother Nature will do it for us. – Frosty Wooldridge, Golden, Colo.
Or this one, from a Lee Bidgood of Gainesville, Florida, who compared "global-warming deniers" to Holocaust Deniers:
Propaganda by global-warming skeptics and deniers reminds me of 1944, when as an Army officer I saw living skeletons in striped pajamas. Horror stories about Nazi concentration camps suddenly rang true. I wondered how intelligent people could commit such atrocities. History records the effectiveness of Joseph Goebbels's propaganda. I hope Al Gore and others can prevail over today's anti--science propaganda.

Barack Obama: Mocked In Japan !
"Obama's handshake/forward lurch was so jarring and inappropriate it recalls Bush's back-rub of Merkel.
"Kyodo News is running his appropriate and reciprocated nod and shake with the Empress, certainly to show the president as dignified, and not in the form of a first year English teacher trying to impress with Karate Kid-level knowledge of Japanese customs.
"The bow as he performed did not just display weakness in Red State terms, but evoked weakness in Japanese terms....The last thing the Japanese want or need is a weak looking American president and, again, in all ways, he unintentionally played that part"
How dare the Japanese interpret his bow thusly? Have they ever lived "overseas" the way Barack Obama has? Are they African-America, did they overcome the hardships he has in order to become The One?
Such impoliteness....
Personally, I think Obama was hoping for a bow in return. All this fainting in college auditoriums is nice, but it's not the same as having a world leader lower himself before you....
