Al Gore and Hillary Clinton: Dueling Nutjobs!

Yesterday, from Al Gore, we get the following soundbites:

Former Vice President Al Gore asserted Monday that President Bush “repeatedly and persistently” broke the law...
...“a threat to the very structure of our government” Gore charged...
Gore said that Bush’s actions represented a “direct assault” ...

And now, ladies and gentleman, we get Hillary at the Harlem Church:

"When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation and you know what I'm talking about..."

This is one of the more offensive things I've heard in some time, and I will tell you why...

If there is a plantation, it is owned and operated by the Democratic Party - the party that claims to support women, blacks and minorities only does so if they toe the Democratic party ideological line - otherwise, they have no problems resorting to racist name-calling to bring an uppity inferior back into line.

Where's the praise for Condi Rice, the most powerful black/woman in the world? Where's the kudos for Alberto Gonzales, the first Hispanic Attorney General? Where's the huzzahs for George W. Bush, the man who intergrated his cabinet not with Clinton-esque color-matching, but with qualified minority candidates?

Where's the (liberal) media's adorement of Michael Steele, a black Republican running for Senate in Maryland ? Obama got oodles of adoring press, but of course, he's a black Democrat...Steele just gets racist bile with a wink and a nod from the MSM...from Michelle Malkin:

Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican.
Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an "Uncle Tom" and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log.
Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report -- the only Republican candidate so targeted.
But black Democrats say there is nothing wrong with "pointing out the obvious."

Yea, Hillary, there is a plantation, and you and Al and Nancy are the masters, threating blacks with ridicule and scorn if they dare think outside of your box...Can anyone speak truth to this power in the black community?
Not Hillary - she winds up her speech with one last filthy lie:

Speaking during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, Clinton also offered an apology to a group of Hurricane Katrina survivors "on behalf of a government that left you behind, that turned its back on you." Her remarks were met with thunderous applause by a mostly black audience at the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem.

Nice words - I'm sure MLK would have been so proud of your attempts to divide and conquer, Hillary. Go ahead, you try it in 2008...we'll see you in Gore-land!

Brokeback Mountain: Globes-Yes! Box Office-No!

The money, it never does lie:

Brokeback Mountain

Munich

$33,807,605 Total Box Office

Syriana

Now, in comparison:

So Hollywood's triumverate of liberal morality plays - gay cowboys, sympathetic terrorists, and evil American oil companies - combined still fall short of one fantasy flick (with Christian overtones).

Once these losers finish their back slapping and self-congratulations about "sticking it to the man" with their films, they are going to wake up and realize that no one, outside of their liberal interest groups, went to see them!

And then the blame is gonna fly - "censorship", "closed-mindedness", the "right-wing media" - are all going to take the fall for Hollywood's moral depravity and its tin ear towards Middle American morality. And the media will be there to blow the horn for them...

Boy, it's gonna be a sight to behold.

CNN Bows, Scrapes before Mullahs

CNN stayed inside Iraq all those years by lying to the world about what was really going on there; they appear to be ready to shuck their principles again:

Iran on Tuesday lifted its ban on CNN after the U.S. news network apologized for misquoting President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying Tehran wanted nuclear weapons, a top culture ministry official said
Iran banned CNN journalists from working in the country on Monday after its simultaneous translation of Ahmadinejad's news conference on Saturday included the phrase "the use of nuclear weapons is Iran's right."
In fact, what the Iranian president said was that "Iran has the right to nuclear energy."
CNN later apologized for making a mistake.
"Following a request from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the ban on the activities of CNN's stringer in Iran was lifted," Mohammad Hossein Khoshvaght, director of foreign media at Iran's culture ministry, told Reuters.
Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons, saying it wants atomic technology for generating electricity.
"I want the channel to be allowed to resume its work owing to the apology it made," Ahmadinejad said in a letter sent to the culture ministry, a copy of which was faxed to Reuters...

The ban came as CNN's Iranian-born chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour was in Iran to report on the nuclear issue.

CNN, apologizing to Hitler in a Headress over a translation issue? Sorry, did I miss their apologies to President Bush over their reporting of the forged "National Guard Memos"? Hmm, can't seem to find it...maybe a different search engine?

Such good dhimmis, our media is... click here - http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=18868_NYT_Runs_Fake_Missile_Photo&only - to see how the New York Times ran al-Qaeda propoganda on page one yesterday...

Gore Rants, America Smirks...

..and thinks, 'there but for the grace of God, he may have been our President!". Perhaps the second angriest politician in America (behind Teddy Kennedy, whose viciousness may be simply disguised self-loathing), Gore spent his MLK day bashing the President with hackneyed buzzwords, certain to enrapture him to his loony base while drawing little but yawns from the general populace:

Former Vice President Al Gore asserted Monday that President Bush “repeatedly and persistently” broke the law ...
...“a threat to the very structure of our government” Gore charged...
Gore said that Bush’s actions represented a “direct assault” ...

OK, heard it all before, from Dean, Pelosi, Kennedy...all the usual suspects. Hey Al, maybe if you tried to be even louder and shriller, maybe someone (besides the MSM) would pay you some attention! Like that time you held a global warming conference in NYC on the coldest day of the year, shrieking all along that the cold was due to the heat...wait, bad example....

Anyway, the RNC puts him firmly in his place:

Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, shot back: “Al Gore’s incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day is almost as glaring as his lack of understanding of the threats facing America. While the president works to protect Americans from terrorists, Democrats deliver no solutions of their own, only diatribes laden with inaccuracies and anger.”

There but for the grace of God, indeed...

Iran Warns The West: Roll Over!

The limp-wristed Europeans threaten toothless sanctions against Iran, and even that is too much of an affront to the Middle East's homegrown Hitler...from Little Green Footballs:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the hardline President of Iran, launched an angry tirade against the West yesterday, accusing it of a ‘dark ages’ mentality and threatening retaliation unless it recognised his country’s nuclear ambitions.
In a blistering assault, Ahmadinejad repeated the Islamic regime’s position that it would press ahead with a nuclear programme despite threats by the European Union and United States to refer Iran to the UN Security Council, where it could face possible sanctions.

Addressing a rare press conference in Tehran, he appeared to issue thinly veiled threats against Western countries, implying that they could face serious consequences unless they backed down. ‘You need us more than we need you. All of you today need the Iranian nation,’ Ahmadinejad said. ‘Why are you putting on airs? You don’t have that might.’

I know this doesn't scare the United States or Israel, but it could send the Europeans scuttling into their surrender holes...wait, they're already there!

France said Friday it was "premature" to speak of sanctions against Iran for resuming sensitive nuclear activities.

"The question of sanctions is premature," foreign ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei said. Instead it was necessary to "proceed step by step" after Thursday's meeting of the French, German and British foreign ministers in Berlin.
Paris would "continue consultations" with Russia, China and its European partners on the issue, the spokesman said...

[link here: http://www.ttc.org/200601131147.k0dblr324328.htm]

And they will continue consultations, until the new Muslim Caliphate is restored to a seat in Paris. But the French have been through this before, and they know the drill - bow down to your new masters, hand over the Jews, and you will be allowed to live...

And let us remind the world whom is actually in the "dark ages"...note the two gentlemen being executed below - do you know what their crime was?

These fellows are being hung for the high crime of being homosexuals in Ahmadinejad's Iran...so where is GLADD, by the way? Probably still bashing Bush's America as "fascist" and hunting down critics whom give poor reviews to "Brokeback Mountain" (here: http://jerseynut.blogspot.com/2006/01/brokeback-mountain-love-it-or-else.html#links ). Pathetic liberals...

The next war is on the horizon and moving fast, like a summer thunderstorm...we'd better get ready, this one is gonna be nasty...

"Kennedyism" - the New McCarthyism

Ted Kennedy's hateful behavior at the Alito confirmation hearings is getting some press (although not from his liberal lapdogs in the mainstream media). First, in today's New York Post, Arthur Herman writes:

...McCarthy's defeat seemed to vindicate their own excesses. Liberals began to label conservatives as closet fascists, embodiments of a primitive and pathological "paranoid style" of politics, while the media applauded.
Over the next decades, while conservatives were reining in the rhetoric, liberals were settling into the habit of attacking every Republican as a crypto-Nazi, a racist, a sexist and a religious bigot — and those who supported them as an ignorant redneck lynch mob...
Democrats came to see themselves as entitled to smear every conservative as a racist and every conservative organization as a looming threat to civil liberties, while the media accepted that rhetorical excess as standard operating procedure.
And — like McCarthy — as the Democrats' political fortunes began to slip, they assumed that the way to reverse course was to ramp up the rhetoric, "to get their message out," instead of turning it down.
Then came Wednesday.
THIS time, the TV camera, trained by chance on Mrs. Alito's face, revealed the human cost of their recklessness — just as it did that June afternoon in 1954.
The media filter's control of the direction of our public perceptions and sympathies has been suddenly reversed. Americans can see which is the party of reason and compassion, and which the party of demagogues.
And Sen. Kennedy's strident demands for a closed session to sniff out Judge Alito's connection to a long-defunct conservative Princeton alumni group sounded precisely like McCarthy's "Point of order, Mr Chairman," during the Army hearings — the exact same kind of "are you now, or have you ever been" guilt-by-association attack that McCarthy made famous.

And Mark Levin takes the media to task for its acceptance of this "standard operating procedure":

The media like to pat themselves on the back for taking down Joseph McCarthy. They award themselves the Edward R. Murrow Award for courage in journalism as Murrow is viewed as the reporter who exposed McCarthy. McCarthy’s name has been turned into a synonym for character assassination. And yet, judicial-confirmation hearing after judicial-confirmation hearing — during the terms of Republican presidents — there sits Ted Kennedy on the Senate Judiciary Committee using every sleazy tactic fed to him by every sleazy left-wing group to destroy the reputation of honorable men and women.
...Kennedy has played the role of McCarthy for 40 years, and always to a fawning press. He’s a greater menace than McCarthy ever was. Indeed, McCarthy’s influence lasted only four years. In 1954, the Senate censured McCarthy for his behavior. Today’s Senate lacks the statesmen to censure Kennedy, and the media lack the integrity to expose him.

We don't have to ask where Mr. Kennedy's sense of decency is...he lost it long ago, along with the body of a female companion, down in the depths of Chappaquidick...
But what of the media? It reminds me now of some once-chaste girl, now fallen, taken by many, used by most, whom demands to know why she is called a whore...

John Murtha Joins Code Pink!

Back a mere week ago, (here http://jerseynut.blogspot.com/2006/01/john-murtha-jew-hater.html ), I stated the following:

Seems like anyone who is embraced by the far-left becomes addicted to their love, and spouts more and more radical bullspit in order to insure that this perverted passion keeps on comin'...

Well, look who's front and center on the Code Pink homepage-

Sweet, innocent female anti-war protesters? Er, hardly...via Frontpage Magazine's Jean Pearce:

Unless you travel in Marxist circles or work for the FBI or CIA, the names of the Code Pink moms may not ring a bell with you, though you’ve probably been reading news reports about their collective exploits for years. In the wake of their war against capitalism and self-determination, they’ve left a trail of anarchy and destruction that has cost property owners, corporations and consumers millions of dollars.

At the center of Code Pink is legendary leftist organizer Medea Benjamin, the 50-year-old mother of two widely credited as a chief organizing force behind the 1999 Seattle riots in which 50,000 protesters did millions of dollars worth of property damage in their effort to shut down meetings of the World Trade Organization

And Murtha, whom has been telling baldfaced lies about the American war effort and American troops for weeks, must have known this when he was smooching these harlots:

Code Pink...sparked a controversy last summer by conducting anti-war picketing outside the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where military members who had served in Iraq were recovering from their wounds. Among the signs that members of Code Pink held within the view of the wounded servicemen was the one reading, "Maimed for a Lie." (http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1372336.html)

They are still at it, as Code Pink's website is pleased to display -

This, right outside of the rooms were injured soldiers are recovering from wounds they suffered in battle. Imagine the parents of these brave young heroes, having to walk through a gauntlet of leftist hate to see their injured children. Imagine trying to recover inside while these foul women are shouting vile slogans, deriding the noble cause you are fighting for.

Imagine that John Murtha is now embracing this group.

Another Democratic "patriot", I guess...

UPDATE: Did Mr. Murtha "mislead" us regarding his "heroic" Vietnam War service? Story at the Mudville Gazette here http://www.mudvillegazette.com/archives/004050.html ; commenter "Joey" on this post makes a point worth remembering -

France, In Decline...

Via No Parasan!, we visit the site of Joel Shepherd, a sci-fi author who gives his take on the current mood in France:

France has been going down the tubes for years. Finding out why is easy -- the French Statist, centralised system simply doesn’t work in the modern, globalised world..
My French teacher at the language school on Boulevard de Grenelle is well aware of the malaise...Her favourite topic for discussion in class? ‘France en reinseignement’... or France in decline, broadly speaking. The politicians are crooked, the unions are always striking, the schools are no good, unemployment is terrible and the government doesn’t give people any freedom. Clearly she loves her country, she’s just annoyed that it doesn’t always function as advertised.
A lot of young French people appear to feel the same. Whatever the traditional French disdain for private enterprise, commerce and business degrees are amongst the most popular university courses. Many graduates then leave the country for better opportunities elsewhere, the kind of brain drain usually found in poor developing nations. Everyone seems to want to learn English...

Now, however, that youthful disillusionment is driving a new force in France, a force that has been largely dormant since the Revolution. That force is liberty....

Quick break to show the face of one of France's new Libertarians, Miss
Sabine Herold :

Nice - but how does libertarianism become almost revolutionary in a free society? Shepherd explains:

The French Revolution didn’t just lop off the king’s head, it enshrined the State in his place as the new sovereign... In France, someone is always in charge. Today, the bureaucracy is bloated and all-powerful. Bureaucrats rule their petty fiefdoms like little Napoleons, and the state regulates everything it can see. Welfare rules the lives of millions, and entrepreneurialism as understood in Australia or America is almost non-existent. People don’t just go out and do things, people wait to be told what to do...

People wait to be told what to do. This is what holds France, and most of Europe, back. This is why I have said before that if Europeans were flying on 9/11's Flight 93, there would never had been a heroic rebellion, only a few thousand more dead Americans.

Can the lady Herold and her fellow libertarians turn things around in France, and prevent its eventual submission to the radical Muslim multitudes? Or will the French quietly nod their way into decline and oblivian?

Think that France isn't at this crossroads yet? Take a look at the New Year's Eve postcard E-nough! sends from Paris:

The Self-Destruction of Teddy Kennedy

I found Kennedy's performance at the Alito hearings to have a disturbing undertone, of almost childlike malice and hatred. Roger Simon helps put it into perspective for me:

The big loser of the confirmation hearings so far is Teddy Kennedy. In his hectoring and tasteless attack on Samuel Alito he has succeeded in nothing but reminding us of his (Teddy's) past. While Alito may have been associated with a creepy Princeton alumni publication of twenty years ago, Kennedy was associated was something much worse than that - and we all know it. Those of us of a certain age remember well his dazed expression when questioned about the events on Chappaquiddick, the answers that never added up, the story that never computed (still doesn't) and the moral, emotional and intellectual contortions we (supporters like me) went through to try to believe him.

Kennedy himself worked for years to rebuild his reputation, achieved that to a great extent by working hard on issues like health care...

But then anger started to build. It seemed to come simultaneously from within and without. In recent years, a man who was famous for being able to "work across the aisle" began to manifest rage against his opponents out of proportion to reality. For some reason, he had morphed into a hatchet man (was this rage against the self?). Then, most recently, at these confirmation hearings, it seemed as if he had come adrift of his moorings. There was something weirdly self-destructive in his questioning of Alito, the bizarre insinuation that the judge could be a racist when everyone in the room knew Alito wasn't, the obviously staff-driven nonsense about what newspaper articles Alito may have read twenty years ago, the intimations of sexism on the judge's part that quite clearly didn't exist. Where did this all come from? Was Teddy just preaching to the choir for his next campaign war chest? He needs that like a hole in the head. No, this anger was coming from a deeper, sadder place.

When Mrs. Alito walked out of the room, I thought of Mary Jo Kopechne.

The Republicans should make this man the face of the Democratic party in 2006; for his psychosis is shared by many on his side of the aisle...

Media Lies, Americans Die ?

If millions of Americans must die in order to smear President Bush, well, that's a sacrifice the liberal media is ready to make. To wit:

The mainstream U.S. media outlets have failed to report a major terrorist plot against the U.S. - because it would tend to support President Bush's use of NSA domestic surveillance, according to media watchdog groups.

News of a planned attack masterminded by three Algerians operating out of Italy was widely reported outside the U.S., but went virtually unreported in the American media.
Italian authorities recently announced that they had used wiretaps to uncover the conspiracy to conduct a series of major attacks inside the U.S.
Italian Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said the planned attacks would have targeted stadiums, ships and railway stations, and the terrorists' goal, he said, was to exceed the devastation caused by 9/11.
Italian authorities stepped up their internal surveillance programs after July's terrorist bombings in London. Their domestic wiretaps picked up phone conversations by Algerian Yamine Bouhrama that discussed terrorist attacks in Italy and abroad.

The arrests were a major coup for Italian anti-terror forces, and the story was carried in most major newspapers from Europe to China.
"U.S. terror attacks foiled," read the headline in England's Sunday Times. In France, a headline from Agence France Presse proclaimed, "Three Algerians arrested in Italy over plot targeting U.S."
Curiously, what was deemed worthy of a worldwide media blitz abroad was virtually ignored by the U.S. media, and conservative media watchdog groups are saying that is no accident.
"My impression is that the major media want to use the NSA story to try and impeach the president," says Cliff Kincaid, editor of the Accuracy in Media Report published by the grassroots Accuracy in Media organization.
"If you remind people that terrorists actually are planning to kill us, that tends to support the case made by President Bush. They will ignore any issue that shows that this kind of [wiretapping] tactic can work in the war on terror."

And they wonder why there is no public outcry when they come with subpoenas for the likes of Judith Miller and the New York Times....

Democratic Family Values !

Alito Turns Aside Democrats' Criticism

Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito turned aside Democratic attacks on his judicial record and credibility at contentious confirmation hearings Wednesday that left his wife in tears.
Alito, 55, was unflappable for hours on end in marathon questioning before the Senate Judiciary Committee. But his wife, Martha-Ann Bomgardner, grew emotional near the end of the day and left the hearing room weeping.
"Judge Alito, I'm sorry that you've had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this," said Sen. Lindsey Graham

Great strategy, Kennedy/Schumer/Durbin/Pelosi !!! I'm sure by being identified as the party that makes women cry, you'll endear yourselves to all those stupid Americans who insist on voting Republican!

Why do I even worry about the Democratic party anymore? They're intellectual toast...

The Brokeback Stats !

Here's where everyone's favorite gay cowboy flick sits to date:

TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic: $23,051,000 99.0%
+ Overseas: $228,000 1.0%
= Worldwide:
$23,279,000

DOMESTIC SUMMARY
Release Dates:
December 9, 2005 (limited);
January 13, 2006 (wide)
Opening Weekend: (limited, 5 theaters)
$547,425 ($109,485 avg)
Widest Release: 483 theaters
In Release: 32 days / 4.6 weeks

So January 13th is the big day for Brokeback Mountain; if it holds that per-screen average when they add another 1000 theatres, every studio in Hollywood will be reading scripts for the next big gay buddy flick. Prediction here: Good opening weekend; followed by significant drop off. May still do $100 million; but those are hardly blockbuster numbers anymore.

Is the positive press on this movie already a win for the left in their culture war against America? Even if the movie produces only mediocre box-office from here on out, will the various accolades and Oscars convince every studio to put out its own non-traditional love story?

Honestly - I am rooting against this movie, NOT AGAINST GAYS, because I believe it is another attempt by the left coast to mainstream ideals that are not in sync with the large majority of Americans. But all it will take is a few more idiots - like our man in Utah who "banned" Brokeback { http://jerseynut.blogspot.com/2006/01/banning-brokeback-mountain.html} - to make Ang Lee and his lavender cowpokes into American heroes.

Let's see, this is gonna be interesting...

Stats above at Box Office Mojo here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=brokebackmountain.htm

Democrats + Yalies - Perfect together!

The Democrats are going to ride the Alito nomination off a cliff...pandering to the far left while acting as a representative of the people, New York's Chuckie Schumer gives us his take, before the hearings truly got underway:

New York Sen. Charles Schumer said Monday he was worried Judge Samuel Alito would be an agent for right-wing extremists if confirmed for a U.S. Supreme Court seat.
"You seem to have been picked to placate the extreme right wing after the hasty withdrawal of Harriet Miers," Schumer said, speaking bluntly to Alito in his opening statement at Senate confirmation hearings.
Miers, the White House counsel, was blocked by a "cadre of conservative critics" who doubted her conservative credentials, the New York Democrat said.

Schumer's comments set the stage for tough Democratic questioning of Alito this week before the Senate Judiciary Committee...
Schumer said Alito's record of opinions and statements on a number of critical constitutional questions "seems quite extreme."
"Although I have not made up my mind, I have serious concerns about that record," he said

[link: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060110/NEWS01/601100315/1006/NEWS]

OK, if anyone thinks Schmuckie Schumer has "not made up his mind", then this Jersey guy has a bridge over the East River to sell you...the public is tired of these nomination hearings turning into ideological witch hunts; Gateway Pundit tells us more about it:

Several Democrats Monday, including the reliable Sen. Edward Kennedy, seemed on the verge of making an even worse tactical error. They suggested that Alito's respect for executive branch prerogatives would make him too ready to approve wiretapping and other surveillance of terrorists.
That shows a deep misreading of U.S. opinion. Not only do most polls show that a small plurality of Americans favors wiretapping as a tool against terrorism, but even those against do not consider it a wildly extreme position. When the Democrats campaign against Alito on those grounds, they reinforce the public view of themselves as weak on national security. Unfortunately for the Democrats, they cannot restrain their own partisanship...

If Alito is confirmed, the Democrats will finally lose their majority on the Supreme Court that for 50 years has allowed liberals to legislate from the bench on everything from racial preferences to the detention of terrorists. Their desperation makes them imprudent. Instead of rooting their arguments in what the public believes, they base them on their own passionate political commitments. They consistently misread public opinion as a result...
[link: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2006/01/after-1-month-of-attack-ads-alito-grew.html]

This is going to get ugly, and fast. But maybe those good 'ol Yalies can help out...from a Yale Law press release:

New Haven, CT -- Over the last several weeks, an informal group of Yale Law School students and faculty calling themselves "The Alito Project," reviewed all 415 judicial opinions that Judge Samuel Alito wrote while serving as a Circuit Judge. The report was delivered to all one hundred Senators on Monday, just as many of them are preparing for Judge Alito's nomination hearings scheduled to start on January 9, 2006. " Our goal was to help Senators and citizens make an informed decision about this nominee," said Professor Owen Fiss, one of the project's participants.
[link: http://www.law.yale.edu/outside/html/Public_Affairs/685/yls_article.htm]

Uh huh. Mr. Owen Fiss is a classic liberal, one who knows better than all of us plebes. Just take a look at this review of Fiss' seminal work, The Law As It Could Be:

Politics, it has been said, is the authoritative allocation of values. For Owen Fiss, those “public values” are embedded in the law, and it is the job of the judge to discover and apply them, undeterred by the controversy and difficulties that might ensue...
[link: http://www.bsos.umd.edu/gvpt/lpbr/subpages/reviews/fiss305.htm]

Classic definition of judicial activism - no surprise this is whom the Democrats are taking their marching orders from. And the outcome of the Alito Project report?

Their report can be categorized as generally critical of Alito's positions on key legal issues.
"A number of Judge Alito's decisions are difficult to reconcile with the general direction of American law," said project participant Brian Deese in a release issued by the project, "except when viewed in light of the broad philosophical views Judge Alito expressed in his job application of November 1985."
The release also quotes the report as blasting Alito's record on employment and discrimination.

[link: http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Alito_Project_at_Yale_releases_final_1220.html ]

Deese is another genius, look here http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=132896 to see his report on how poorly the American economy (4.9% unemployment, Dow at 11,000, productivity rising...) is performing. OK, little liberal, whatever you say...

And there sits Schumer, with this report in hand, blasting away at Alito. Who will they blame for the fiasco that awaits them in 2006? The Jersey Devil?

Patroits and Traitors: A Primer

From Ralph Peters:

ACCORDING to the Democratic Party's leaders, we all have been betrayed by the Bush administration's Big Brother intelligence tactics as evil government operatives invaded the privacy of innocent Americans.
Stop lying. Show us the victims.
Name one honest citizen who has been targeted by our intelligence system
. Name one innocent man or woman whose life has been destroyed. Come on, Nancy. Give it up, Howard. Name just one....

The truth is that you are being endangered. By politicians so desperate to gain power that they willingly pave the way for terrorist attacks.
The Dean-Pelosi chapter of the Osama bin Laden Fan Club has provided aid and comfort to our enemies. Reasoned dissent is patriotic, but serving as propaganda agents for mass murderers is something else. Now the Dem extremists are welcoming the compromise of clandestine programs to prevent terrorist attacks.
They, not Bush, are flouting our laws. By encouraging the compromise of classified material. And you will pay...

Clear on the concept yet?

Peters is a genius; read it all here: http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/61214.htm

Liberal Activists in Israel!

Israel shares much with the United States, including insanity from its left wing! From Haaretz today:

The Yesha Council of settlements reiterated its contention that in at least some of the cases where olive trees have been cut down, the perpetrators are Arabs and left-wing activists. Left-wing organizations were taking advantage of planned pruning of trees to slander the settlers, the Yesha Council also said yesterday.
Yesha Council chairman Bentzi Lieberman demanded a few weeks ago that the Israel Defense Forces and the police thoroughly investigate the uprooting of trees in the village of Salem, in order to "identify the real perpetrators."

In America, the left wing tries to force America to surrender by revealing secrets, deriding the troops, and blocking key legislation. In Israel, these peace-loving liberals try to force an Israeli surrender by purposely committing vile acts, then blaming their government for them. It would be as if Ted Kennedy (and Andrew Sullivan?) were running a torture chamber underneath the capitol...

I'm not a fan, but I am beginning to believe Michael Savage is right: Liberalism is a mental disease.

Dare To Dream?

For what seems to be the 463rd time, we pose the question, is Osama dead? Little Green Footballs has the following, via Michael Ledeen:

According to Iranians I trust, Osama bin Laden finally departed this world in mid-December. The al-Qaeda leader died of kidney failure and was buried in Iran, where he had spent most of his time since the destruction of al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The Iranians who reported this note that this year’s message in conjunction with the Muslim Haj came from his number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, for the first time.

Well, he has been awful quiet lately; with no statements released since December 27th, 2004, when he appointed Abu Musab al Zarqawi as al Qaeda's man in Iraq. Peter Brookes also reports today:

OSAMA bin Laden hasn't made a single peep publicly in over a year — his longest absence since 9/11. The ghoul's eerie silence is both disturbing — and odd — for the leader of a global terrorist organization hellbent on changing world order.
So what is Public Enemy No. 1 up to? Osama's glaring absence from the world stage means one of three things: a) We've been closing in on him and he's gone deeper underground; b) He's lulling us into complacency while planning another big terrorist strike, or c) He's dead.

It's very possible that Osama, a fugitive on the run and under continuing pressure by U.S. forces, has gone incommunicado along the rugged Afghan-Pakistan border. He may have also fled into safe haven in neighboring Iran — or even left the region completely.
By lowering his profile, Osama may also be trying to lull us into complacency four-plus years after 9/11, while he plans the next big attack. "Out of sight, out of mind" could lead to America dropping its guard; complacency is as big a threat to our security as Osama and al Qaeda.
It's also possible that Osama has gone "belly up." Although there is disagreement about whether Osama has kidney problems, few consider him a picture of health. Hanging out in caves for four years probably hasn't improved his condition —physical or mental.

Maybe I've seen too many slasher flicks, but I won't believe this monster is dead until they roll his worm-rotted corpse out onto al-Jazeera. I agree with Brookes; four years of spelunking in the frigid Afghani-Paki badlands is tough on the strongest man's constitution; and Osama was an oft-infirm older man.

Still...dare we hope; dare we dream?

Banning Brokeback Mountain?

Apparently, in Utah, a little bit of censorship may be going on - via RenPatel http://renpatel.com/2006/01/08/utah-theater-cancels-brokeback-mountain/:

A movie theater owned by Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller abruptly changed its screening plans and decided not to show the film “Brokeback Mountain.” The film, an R-rated Western gay romance story, was supposed to open Friday at the Megaplex at Jordan Commons in Sandy, a suburb of Salt Lake City. Instead it was pulled from the schedule.

Don't like it, not at all...while I am tired of Hollywood pushing its twisted morals down our throats, I would rather see these movies fail on their own as opposed to being pulled from screens. It allows the liberals to claim censorship, and adds another martyr to the Hollywood black-tie "A" list. Some inside-Utah details at Hollywood Blogslap:

As locals know, Jordan Commons is owned by Larry Miller, a car-dealership tycoon who also owns the Utah Jazz. A devoted Mormon, hehas also financed production of some LDS-themed films such as "The Work and the Glory" and "States of Grace."
Well, "Brokeback Mountain" was scheduled to open at Jordan Commons this past Friday. It was already playing to record-setting crowds
[here we go - ed.] at the Broadway Centre in downtown Salt Lake City (Sandy is a suburb 20 minutes south), and was set to open in two other area theaters on Friday, too.
On Thursday, Miller was being interviewed by KCPW-FM reporter Jonathan Brown, who brought up the imminent showing of "Brokeback Mountain." I haven't heard the interview, which aired on the NPR affiliate Friday, but I gather from Miller's quoted response that Brown was expressing surprise that Jordan Commons, which has occasionally shied away fromcontroversial movies, was showing it.
Miller said, "It's something that I have to let the market speak to some degree.... I don't think I'm qualified to be the community censor."
But here's the thing: Turns out Miller didn't actually know what "Brokeback Mountain" was about until Brown told him.
Two hours after the interview was conducted, Jordan Commons told the local papers to pull "Brokeback Mountain" from its Friday ads, becausethey weren't going to show it after all.

Now, if Jordan Commons doesn't want to show "Brokeback Mountain,"that's fine. Theaters are entitled to show or not show whatever films they want, and they're not beholden to anyone to explain or justify their actions. Whatever your reasons --political, social, moral, financial -- if you own the theater, you can drop a film.
Of course, you should probably do the dropping sometime BEFORE it's too late, not after. In Miller's case, it was too late to change the ads in Friday's paper, and patrons showed up at Jordan Commons on Friday expecting to see the movie.

Bad idea all around. Now the liberal media will be able to claim "overflow/sellout" crowds at the few theatres that are showing "Brokeback" (like the "overflow" anti-war crowds, usually numbering in the hundreds, that show up at tiny venues); and if it does draw (my) expected less-than-steller box office, impuned-upon movie types will claim "suppression!", thus adding the hallowed glow of sainthood to this liberal fantasy flick.

Just let it play, let the market decide, let every American who wants to see gay cowboys the freedom to do so, and pray for a return to movies reflecting the cultural choices of the majority of Americans, not just those of the Left Coast. Or is that the only kind of multiculturalism that Hollywood doesn't believe in?

Cindy Sheehan Tells Me How It's Gonna Be...

Mother Sheehan, supporter of, well, whomever is currently killing U.S. troops, gives us our marching orders...via Little Green Footballs:

You have to wash the blood off your hands and get off your apathetic butts and do something,” she told several hundred people crowding a union hall to overflowing. “These people, they’re not going to change unless they see us out in the streets.”

Blood on my hands? What about the funeral pyre that burned for weeks in Manhattan after 9/11 ...who's hands are stained with their blood, Cindy? And do you think you can change my mind if a couple more of your moonbat minions do anti-war twirly dances in the lurid streets of San Francisco?

Sheehan, who recently moved from Vacaville to Berkeley, became known as the “Peace Mom” after she attracted hundreds of anti-war protesters to a makeshift camp near Bush’s ranch

Again, hundreds seems to be being portrayed as a significant amount in a country of over 270 million...is that the best you guys can do?

"Anybody could do what we did in Crawford, Texas. We just went down and sat down,” Sheehan said. “ We have to get so freakin’ fed up with what’s going on that we all go and sit down"

Note to Left Wing-Nuts: When you start essentially saying "Where's the outrage?", you've already lost the cause, because the general population doesn't feel it is "outrageous". Just ask Bob Dole, whom muttered it while shaking his head all thru the 1996 campaign...

Brokeback Mountain - Love It, Or Else!

That's the message that GLADD is putting out there! With almost every film critic swooning over this tale of homosexual cowpokes; GLADD is going after the few that don't toe the PC line:

For the most part, the critics agree that Brokeback Mountain is one of the year's most commendable films.
Then there's Gene Shalit's point of view.
The veteran Today show critic has been taken to task by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation over his negative review of the gay cowboy western, in which he referred to
Jake Gyllenhaal' s character, Jack, as a "sexual predator" who "tracks Ennis down and coaxes him into sporadic trysts."
The group claimed that Shalit's statements, delivered during his "Critic's Choice" segment on Thursday's Today show, promoted "defamatory anti-gay prejudice to a national audience," and criticized NBC News for providing the eccentric critic with a platform from which to air his views.
"Shalit's bizarre characterization of Jack as a 'predator' and Ennis as a victim reflects a fundamental lack of understanding about the central relationship in the film and about gay relationships in general," GLAAD said in a statement. ..

GLAAD demanded an apology from both Shalit and NBC News and urged supporters to contact the network and complain.
In addition to offering his searing analysis of the romantic relationship between the lead characters, Shalit commended Ledger's performance in Brokeback and allowed that the film had a "few dramatic peaks." He concluded that Ang Lee' much-nominated oeuvre was "wildly overpraised, but not by me." "wildly overpraised, but not by me."
The group reported on its Website that GLAAD representatives had spoken with a Today show producer, who promised to bring their concerns to Shalit's attention.

Now, I have yet to see the movie, so I cannot comment on how "out of school" Shalit's remarks were. But when 99% of the world's critics are ga-ga over gay cowboys, why does GLADD have to ostracize the few that have the temerity to disagree? And looking back to my previous post, with radical Islam sworn to destroy gays, why is GLADD focusing on the relatively harmless remarks of one movie critic ("eccentric", is how he is described in the above article - that's your label when you dare to stray politically), when the radical Imans of Islam publically declare their intent to destroy you?

Sigh..the Gay Mafia silencing dissenting thought with the approval of the liberal media...who would have dreamed it would come to this?

Gays, Apologizing To Their Executioners...

Apparently, homosexuals in Britain are so brainwashed by the cult of PC that they feel the need to bow and scrape to their future Muslim masters, who of course vow to kill them all. Beautiful Atrocities writes a little love letter to his fellow gays across the pond:

Dear Stupid British Homos,
I see you're having the PC vapors after
the renegade Gay & Lesbian Humanist Assn said - are you ready? - Islam is homophobic. No. Shit. Sherlock. As a fellow homo, this seems gratuitous, but in PC England it's so over the top that GLHA execs resigned in disgrace & issued groveling apologies, gay luminaries voiced concern, & something sinister called London-wide Race Hate Crime Forum is pursuing prosecution.
Here's an excerpt of GLHA's vile filth, which actually suggested that medieval Muslim immigrants who don't send their daughters to school &
think Jews perpetrated the WTC attacks don't share Western values:

"What is wrong with being fearful of Islam? (There is a lot to fear) ... What does a moderate Muslim do, other than excuse the real nutters by adhering to this barmy doctrine?"

Holy crap. An outraged gay Muslim group [sic] called the article outrageous. Excuse me, but what kind of stupid sh*t-eating gays apologize for a 7th Century religion whose 21st Century practice includes killing them? In this case, hatred is an appropriate response, & should be encouraged.
While you queens have been frauleining about gay marriage, homos under barmy Islam have been
crushed, hung, stoned, & beheaded. I notice that 60% of British Muslims want Shariah law. Have you seen their birthrate compared to non-Muslim Brits? Maybe GLHA should start running more timely articles like Scaffold-Proof Styling Mousse & Fabulous Accessories from Neck to Toe!
George Bernard Shaw, that pacifist flaneur, said if the Nazis landed, he'd
welcome them as tourists. New flash, sisters: the tourists are already in the house. ... you'll be clicking your Giorgio Brutini heels together for asylum in Kansas, but we have enough problems without a bunch of grievance queens & speech monitors. Besides, you'd really hate our First Amendment; it doesn't go well with yellow.
Your friend,

Jeff

Well said, Jeff...someone should ask my fellow Jews and your fellow gays why we support the party that keeps telling us we should understand them, we should apologize to them for centuries-old grievences, and we should surrender to them. Both Jews and gays throw their support massively behind the Democrats, whom welcome our eventual murderers, while the Republicans, fighting on our behalf, are left begging for our votes.
We need to wake up and rethink our old paradigms; or perish...

John Murtha, Jew Hater?

Well, if you are the company you keep...

In an emotional two-hour public forum in Arlington last night on the Iraq war, one of the Bush administration's chief critics, Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.), renewed his call for an immediate pullout, saying, "We've become the enemy."
Murtha appeared at the forum at the invitation of its sponsor, Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.), whose own Iraq views have caused him trouble in the past.
Moran, who attributed the high turnout to growing public concern about the war, has long been vocal in his opposition to the war. At a forum in 2003, Moran's comments about the Jewish community's support for the war were widely criticized and brought accusations of anti-Semitism from some Jewish leaders. Moran apologized and has long insisted that his views were taken out of context.
Local Republicans derided Moran's decision to bring such a high-profile guest to what would normally be a listening meeting with constituents.
"This is not an opportunity for Jim Moran to hear from his constituents; this is an opportunity for them to pat themselves on the back and reinforce their misguided ideas," said Mike Lane, former chairman of the 8th District Republican Congressional Committee.

A few notes:
- Seems like anyone who is embraced by the far-left becomes addicted to their love, and spouts more and more radical bullspit in order to insure that this perverted passion keeps on comin'... "We've become the enemy"? Go ask anyone in the Iraqi street who the enemy is; and I guarentee you 8 out of 10 will not name America. Now whom do you think that aligns our Democratic Congressman with?
- Again the far-left shows its anti-Semetic colors - Moran's words were not taken out of context; they are simply Jew-baiting 101, and he and everyone on the left knows it (that's why they love him). Murtha's embrace of this anti-Semite gets him more liberal love...when will he start french-kissing Cindy Sheehan? Incidentally, will anyone point out to Murtha's constituants that he hangs out with old-fashioned racists?
-the "high turnout" referred to in this article was estimated at 600 people, and this was with mega-publicity from Free Republic. This is typical media spin towards their favored cause; 600 people barely fills a high school gym...

John Murtha: Liar. Traitor. Anti-Semite. And a proud member of the Democratic Party.

Who's "Broken" Now, John Murtha ?

Usually, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff steers clear of politics. However, General Peter Pace took a reporter's question as an opportunity to show traitorous spitbag John Murtha how damaging he has been to the country he claims to love, and the troops he claims to support:

A Democratic congressman's remarks about the military are damaging to troop morale and to the Army's efforts to rebound from a recruiting slump, the nation's top general said Thursday.
Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was asked at a Pentagon news conference to comment on remarks by Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa...Pace was asked specifically about an ABC News interview this week in which Murtha, 73, said if he were eligible to join the military today he would not, nor would he expect others to join.

[How vile...urging young Americans not to defend their country...has any congressman in recent years ever sunk lower?]

"That's damaging to recruiting," Pace said. "It's damaging to morale of the troops who are deployed, and it's damaging to the morale of their families who believe in what they are doing to serve this country."
Pace called the news conference to discuss his weeklong trip to Iraq and elsewhere in the Persian Gulf region. He said he found good troop morale and a "quiet confidence" that U.S. efforts in Iraq were on the right track. He added that Murtha's comments were among the first things he heard about upon returning Tuesday.
Military officers usually are reluctant to get drawn into political debates, but Pace said Murtha's remarks about recruiting are relevant to his responsibilities as Joint Chiefs chairman.

Pace praised the congressman's record but criticized his remarks:
"When a respected individual like that says what he said, and 18- and 19-year-olds look to their leadership to determine how they are expected to act, they can get the wrong message," Pace said.
Aides at Murtha's Johnstown, Pa., office did not immediately return a call for comment.

What a disgrace; I hope the Republicans pounce on Murtha's remarks and play them over and over during the '06 campaign season, while reminding folks that Nancy Pelosi stood shoulder to shoulder with this guy as he demanded the immediate surrender of American troops in Iraq.

Gateway Pundit show us how Murtha is directly supporting Saddam Hussein; the old tyrant is now taking his talking points straight from Murtha:

The Iraqi people are patriotic; they cannot accept foreign rule.
-Saddam Hussein January 4, 2006
Iraqis are strongly opposed to the presence of coalition troops... We need to turn Iraq over to the Iraqis.
-Representative John Murtha November 17, 2005

Now the US will think a thousand times before daring to attack another country.
-Saddam HusseinJanuary 4, 2006
I admit I made a mistake when I voted for war.
-Representative John MurthaDecember 1, 2005

Clink the link (here: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2006/01/saddam-hussein-borrows-rep-john.html) for more of how Murtha's poison is directly affecting the war effort...another Democratic "patriot", indeed...

A Hero, Falling Into Shadow?

Ariel Sharon has suffered a massive stroke:

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive, life-threatening stroke Wednesday and underwent lengthy surgery to drain blood from his brain after falling ill at his ranch. Powers were transferred to his deputy, Ehud Olmert.
Doctors placed Sharon on a respirator and were trying to save his life only hours before the hard-charging, overweight, 77-year-old Israeli leader had been scheduled to undergo a procedure to seal a hole in his heart that contributed to a mild stroke on Dec. 18.

Pan-Arab satellite television broadcasters beamed out largely straightforward, nonstop live coverage from outside the hospital where Sharon — a particularly despised figure among many Arabs — struggled for his life.
But a Palestinian commentator on the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya network offered Sharon unexpected praise as "the first Israeli leader who stopped claiming Israel had a right to all of the Palestinians' land," a reference to Israeli's recent withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. "A live Sharon is better for the Palestinians now, despite all the crimes he has committed against us," said Ghazi al-Saadi

No comment on the "crimes" nonsense here; I think deep in their hearts many Arabs knew that Sharon was going to give the Palestinians the best chance they were going to get for some sort of a homeland, and for eventual peace.
Israelis, after the disaster of Oslo, are unlikely to trust a leftist government again to lead them into a peace process; Sharon is the only figure with the "street cred" to actually give up some land without making it seem like a surrender, and while he he remained at the helm, the Israeli citizens knew that attacks upon them would no gunpunisheded.

If Sharon should pass, at this critical time, by default the so-called "peace process" will grind to a halt for months (at least) as Israel searches, leaderless, to find their way. Will this gap be filled with patience from the Palestinians, or will opportunists see a way to gain power through spectacular terrorist attacks? And should that happen, what type of mandate will the new Israeli leader gain office with?

If the Palestinian people have any true desire to possess statehood, they must now show forbearance. Alternate courses of action could set their prospects for peace (as well as that of the greater Middle East) reeling backwards, to an end filled with yet years more of tears, and despair.

(French) Food for Thought...

...But first, a report from E-Nough! on the current state of affairs in Europe's liberal paradise:

Southern France train attacked and robbed

A Nice-Lyon train, with about 600 people aboard, has been attacked on January 1, 2006 (Happy New Year to you too) by 2 gangs of 15 "youths" that robbed some passengers and sexually attacked a 20-year-old woman. Two of them, born in Morocco according to the article, have been arrested. One of them would be an illegal alien...

UPDATE: Apparently, not only did the passengers hardly try to defend themselves, they also refused to lodge a complaint for fear of retaliation. The French, state-owned, railway company did as well as two or three passengers. Attackers had screamed death threats to those who had called the police on their cell phones.

Now my question:
If, on 9/11, United Airlines Flight 93 had been manned by Frenchmen (or Europeans, for argument's sake), would their have been a passenger revolt that, while costing them their own lives, likely saved the lives of uncounted thousands of others?

My answer:
Never. The European citizen is so docile, so bereft of independent thought, so reliant on pushing the responsibilities of existence onto bureaucratic "others", that nary a soul would have thought to move that day, with God knows what unimaginable consequences. That is the difference between the American spirit, and the conscience of a European.

Doubt it? Re-read E-nough! again, here: http://www.e-nough.hmdnsgroup.com/archives/001181.html ; and don't fret! We'll discuss another day how France is reverting back to America's Wild West days of the mid- 1800's...now that's liberal progress for you!

Dhimmitude in Hollywood: A Money-Loser!

Let's see how well our bowing and scraping Hollywood liberals are doing at the box-office with their America-hating/terrorist-loving flicks:

Syriana - 5+ weeks $33.6 million
Brokeback Mountain - 3 weeks $10.2 million
Munich - 1 week $9.6 million

Some comparisons:
Walk The Line - 6 weeks $89.1 million
Fun with Dick and Jane - 9 days $43.6 million
Cheaper by The Dozen - 1 week $35.8 million

While Brokeback Mountain (Hollywood's example of a holiday love story - homosexual cowboys...) and Munich are playing on only about 1/3 of the screens as Syriana; they are playing in large cities that should be the biggest audience for these type of flicks. When they roll out nationwide (and "Brokeback" simply will not get the same amount of screens as "Dick..."; with small-town theatre operators chosing to run what they believe will fill the most seats), neither film will come close to commanding the dollars necessary to make these liberal lovefests anywhere near profitable.

Note the type of films used here for comparison - Walk The Line, a no-punches-held yet heartful telling of American legend Johnny Cash; Fun With Dick and Jane, a humorous, contemporary tale of a couple wiped out in a stock scandel whom go all "Bonnie and Clyde" to get it back; and Cheaper by The Dozen -simple, traditional family fare.

Now look who's making money, and look who's not. How long can Hollywood sustain itself making liberal-themed blockbusters that flop at the box-office?
Based upon the intellectually bereft thinking that supposes Brokeback Mountain is a movie "all of America" would fall in love with; or that pseudo-docs like Farenheit 911 would turn an election, I cannot believe that Hollywood will see the error of its ways anytime soon. When they finally do wake up, there may be a few less movie studios in business...

Can I reference my post from yesterday? http://jerseynut.blogspot.com/2006/01/in-new-year-optimism.html :

From Hollywood's latest anti-American rant to the decaying New York Times, the stars of the America's Most Arrogant Show have had to learn yet again that we don't take orders from trust-fund snots, campus cowards or actors...

I believe we can now add movie critics to the list...?

Dollar figures above kindly provided by Box Office Mojo here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2005-12-29&p=.htm

UPDATE: Roger Simon has his own review of Munich worth reading here http://www.rogerlsimon.com/mt-archives/2006/01/munchen.php ; this would be my banner excerpt:

He [Speilberg] is not in any sense, however, a sophisticated thinker and "Munich" is an ultimately banal film, completely out of his range... It's almost laughable at times and the end of the movie crosses the line into a virtually incoherent grand guignol of sex and mayhem that approaches opera bouffe.

In a New Year, Optimism...

Today's column by Ralph Peters, entitled "The Truth About Iraq" , gives a dozen reasons why we should be optimistic about Iraq, and with it the future of the Middle East and American national security as well. Link to the piece here -http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/59703.htm; I would just like to excerpt his opening, which speaks to the case the conservative blogosphere has been making tirelessly, and will be challenged to continue to make in 2006:

IRAQ made impressive progress in 2005. You wouldn't have known it from the daily news coverage or the surrender-now demands of left-wing extremists, but the long-suffering nation marched forward.
Here and abroad, the enemies of freedom insisted that failure was inevitable. Terrorists, insurgents, journalists with agendas, global America-haters and the Democratic Party's national leadership all tried to force our troops out of Iraq, no matter the consequences for the 26 million human beings who'd be left behind.
But the Iraqis refused to fail. Our troops refused to fail. And the Bush administration refused to fail.
Thank God.
Over the last 12 months, the pessimists called every major development wrong. But that won't stop them from doing everything they can again this year to devalue freedom, discredit democracy, drive Iraq toward civil war, encourage the terrorists and, above all, embarrass the Bush administration.

And this nugget, which warms the cackles of my neo-con heart:

WE should be encouraged by the progress in Iraq and heartened by the American people's distrust of elitist propaganda. From Hollywood's latest anti-American rant to the decaying New York Times, the stars of the America's Most Arrogant Show have had to learn yet again that we don't take orders from trust-fund snots, campus cowards or actors (when Alfred Hitchcock said, "Actors are cattle," he was being far too kind).
We, the people, support our troops. And we don't like it when cynical activists and political hacks try to exploit those in uniform. Americans will always trust G.I. Joe (and Jane) over the latte lizards at moveon.org.

Read the whole thinng with your morning coffee (or hangover remedy of choice); it will put a bounce to your step in the first hours of the New Year...
