Best line from this "commercial" praising the Chevy Volt:
"I've found that the fire has helped me get to my destination faster for fear of my life..."
Chevy Volt - Building a Better Tomorrow from Mister Smith Media on Vimeo.
And if you missed Rich Lowery's piece on the Volt the other day:
The partially government-owned General Motors has suspended production of its government-approved miracle car and temporarily laid off 1,300 workers at a Detroit plant. The halt is the result of a piddling detail lost in the gushers of praise for a big, bad car company supposedly learning the error of its environment-destroying ways — people don’t want to buy the damn thing.
GM hoped to sell 10,000 Volts last year and sold only 7,500. It planned to sell 45,000 this year and is scaling back production to meet the real rather than the imaginary demand.
There's that word again - imaginary. More:
To buy a Volt, you need the money to splurge and the exquisite environmental consciousness to think plugging in your car will help save the planet, even though about half of electricity comes from coal. The Volt is as much affectation as car.
According to GM, the average income of a Volt purchaser is $175,000 a year. These well-heeled buyers get a $7,500 tax credit for selecting a car out of reach of many Americans, a trickle-up redistribution toward the upper, politically correct end of the car market...
Lowery points out the Chevy Cruze gets comparable gas mileage to the Volt at half the price. Consumers note that as well, buying over 200,000 of them last year. Giving Obama the choice of either upping his Volt tax credit to $20K, or banning the internal combustion engine entirely, via executive fiat.
Which one will he chose? If he gets re-elected in 2012, we'll find out...

Obama Speaks To Adoring, Grateful Throngs On 2nd Anniversary Of Health Care Reform
Nah, I'm just kidding. The president is hiding out today, doing nothing to celebrate the signature legislation of his tenure as president. Maybe that's because there are no adoring throngs lined up to chant, "thank you Barack!". This president doesn't do so well unless he is propped up by teleprompters and true believers; and being that Americans are now demanding the repeal of Obamacare by a lopsided 56%-39% margin, one would understand why he is laying low today.
You'll learn to like it.
That's the message from White House advisers and Democratic lawmakers to Americans opposed to the health insurance overhaul signed into law last week.
What is Obama feeling today? Unappreciated? Confused, perhaps, that Americans still do not understand all he has done for us? Enraged, perhaps, at our ingratitude?
I'd bet on the third. Which worries me, as this is man who does not love his nation or its people.
Well, they are celebrating in the People's Republic of California. Although even our favorite sunshine socialists are seeing some storm clouds on the horizon.
Road bumps to reform have included bureaucratic tangles as Medi-Cal patients are moved into managed care plans to hold down costs as the program’s coverage expands. And questions are cropping up over whether there are enough doctors, nurses and technicians to provide care to millions more who will gain coverage under the law.
And Sen. Ed Hernandez, D-West Covina, said he’s held hearings over the issue of having a workforce adequate to care for 6 million people who are likely to be newly insured in 2014.
“We are going to have a huge access problem,” he said, especially in rural and inner-city areas. “We need to make sure that there is going to be a workforce that is going to see these patients.”
Too bad that workforce doesn't exist, and will be hard to coax into existence, as medical work will soon become government work.
Sound familiar? It's because Obama counted on imaginary alternative fuels to power America, and being that they didn't actually, you know, exist, gas has risen to over $4-/gallon, with no ceiling in sight. What do you think is going to happen to health care?
And you wonder why his whereabouts are unknown today?
You'll learn to like it.

Is North Korea's Maternal Health Care Really Better Than Ours?
I find that a bit hard to believe, but it seems to be what MSN is pushing:
North Korea's 415th set of triplets has arrived -- and they have the late Kim Jong-il to thank for their cushy birth. According to Reuters, the deceased dictator set in place an unusual prenatal policy for those expecting three bundles of joy, showering clothes, blankets, milk and regular infusions of "honey tonics" upon pregnant moms. The mother of the latest set of multiples also earned a cushy 100-day stay at a local hospital (jealous much, American women?).
Well, the honey is a nice touch, although being that it is most likely in lieu of other things - such as solid food, medicine, and heat - I don't really see it as that much of a positive trade-off.
But of course, it is that last line, taunting American women, that piqued my interest. Should they be jealous, as this piece implies, of the "cushy" 100-day hospital stay offered the North Korean women about to bring three children into a slave state?
Well, let's do the work that MSN didn't, and show some photos of a North Korean hospital. Let American women decide for themselves if they consider these to be luxurious digs, and if they are really ready to give up the American health care system for a bowl of honey and 100 days in what MSN believes to be paradise:
Still jealous much? Didn't think so...

Joe Biden and Senator Bob Menendez: Both their brains combined still don't equal one idiot
So Joe came to Jersey (Northern New Jersey, that is - wealthy, insulated, and liberal. Don't think he'd go further south than exit 123 of the GSP) to raise money for Senator Bob Menendez's re-election campaign, and somehow got sucked into Menendez's whirlpool of stupidity. Sure, Joe said that the Osama bin Laden raid was the most audacious military plan in 500 years - take that, Dwight Eisenhower! - and that was pretty dumb, but he still can't top his host.
Bob Menendez has, over the past four-plus years:
-Referred to Republicans as "hostage-takers"
-Criticized Democrats for working with Republicans in order to govern
-Forced a $473,000- earmark into the stimulus bill for the La Raza, a liberal, racist, anti-American (but pro-Hispanic!) hate group
-Did a book signing at La Raza's DC headquarters
-Voted to support the dreadful Moveon.org "General Betray-Us" ad
-Was caught in a baldfaced lie about New Jersey spending
-And has written a letter to Santa Claus, citing his concern over global warming, and offering to relocate his toy shop to New Jersey. Yes, really...
You sure don't know shit about military history, Joe...but you've still got a ways to go to sink below the Menendez line of stupidity. Be grateful for that.
What am I grateful for? This:
One week after [Republican Senatorial candidate Joe] Kyrillos used Christie to rake in $600,000, Menendez (D-N.J.) Monday brought in his own big gun: Vice President Joe Biden, who headlined a Morris Township fundraiser Menendez campaign officials expect will net $400,000.
Joe Kyrillos is still a long way behind dumb, dirty Bob in the cash game. But it is interesting to see that Chris Christie can bring out bigger spenders than the current Vice President. It's also interesting to note that Christie beat Jon Corzine in a heavily Democratic state despite being outspent by more than 3-1.
Interesting:
The latest polling shows Menendez up 10-points over Kyrillos, 43% to 33%; more interestingly, Menendez LOSES in the same poll to an unnamed opponent.
Look like Biden's coat-tails may be as short as his memory...

Reset: Russian Forces Now In Syria
Vladimir Putin knows a pussy(cat) when he sees one..and the man who allegedly bagged a tiger knows when he is dealing with a mere kitten.
Reset? Oh, you betcha!
A Russian military unit has arrived in Syria, according to Russian news reports, a development that a United Nations Security Council source told ABC News was "a bomb" certain to have serious repercussions.
...the Russian Black Sea fleet's Iman tanker has arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus on the Mediterranean Sea with an anti-terror squad from the Russian Marines aboard according to the Interfax news agency. The Assad government has insisted it is fighting a terrorist insurgency.
The Iman replaced another Russian ship "which had been sent to Syria for demonstrating (sic) the Russian presence in the turbulent region
And while Obama purrs, the Bear re-awakens from a long slumber, and begins to prowl:
Putin has announced the creation of a “Eurasian Union” with Kazakhstan and Belarus by 2013 – an idea that has produced nervousness in Washington that he, despite firm denials, intends to create something akin to the Soviet Union in central Asia and eastern Europe.
Last week, Aleksei Pushkov, a senior foreign affairs commentator recently named chairman of the foreign affairs committee in the state Duma, said the reset had been “cancelled” in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper. He said Mr Putin was the “embodiment of the idea of Russia as a global power centre and the centre of the Eurasian Union”....
We need a Cold Warrior again. Instead, we have a president with cold feet. Watch the international action pick up between now and November, as every bad actor uses what may be their last window of opportunity to "reset" the global balance of power in their favor...

In Which Liberal Israeli Women Learn The Truth About Palestinians & Misogynist Liberal Men...
Everything you already knew - and loathed - about liberal do-gooders, the Palestinians, and the Left's attitude towards woman.
Via Ha'aretz:
Israeli leftist activists: We are being sexually harassed in the West Bank
Who's dumber, I wonder: The Israeli and Western women who protest on behalf of the Palestinian death cult despite their limitless appetite for murder and sexual assault, or the Palestinians themselves, so barbaric that they cannot restrain themselves from attempting to rape the few that are willing to stand up for them?
The story speaks of:
...a wider phenomenon of sexual harassment and assault of Israeli and foreign protesters in the West Bank. In the past two years, at least six incidents were recorded in the West Bank and East Jerusalem: two in Sheikh Jarrah, four more in the Mount Hebron area, in Masra, in Kfar a-Dik, and an alleged case of attempted rape in Umm Salmona, near Bethlehem, that was revealed in Haaretz.
But that is only the tip of the iceberg:
One activist, who in the past used to frequent the protests in the West Bank but no longer participates, told Haaretz, “Two years ago we had a meeting of women who took part in the struggle against the occupation. It took place in an apartment in Jerusalem, and disturbing things were brought up. Nearly all the women that attended told of cases of harassment or discrimination.
And what of their fellow male liberals? Are they standing up for their woman, acting with chivalry as in the days of old?
Are you kidding me?
Alongside the struggle against the sexual harassment, the female activists have criticized the responses of their Israeli associates. The ire of many of the activists in the past and in the present is directed at their associates in the left who, according to them, are belittling the significance of the harassments, all in the name of “the opposition to the occupation.”
Sacrificing women on the alter of "the movement". Standard operating procedure for the scumbags of the socialist Left. Just ask the victims of the "Occupy Wall street" rape camps, who were urged not to contact the police, so as not to sully the proud name of #OWS...
And here's where the story ends, unfortunately: With a poor young innocent finding out liberal men are just not all they are cracked up to be:
“I was sexually assaulted last summer by an Israeli leftist activist. The assailant met, and still meets, all the right criteria: post-colonialist, post-Zionist, anti-capitalist, etc. And most relevantly, he considers himself a feminist. Until he assaulted me, we were friends.”
“After the assault it took me three long days to understand what had happened to me, and find a name for it. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it, because I couldn’t understand how someone who spoke with me using the language of opposition to oppression could breach my walls.”
... In all honesty, the left isn’t as good at keeping gender equality as they think they are.”
Lucky you're not in America, darling. The Democratic machine - busy though they may be arranging free contraceptives and abortions for any girl who wants to fuck consequence-free - would certainly take a time-out to demonize you, to belittle you, to twist your story, and to cast aspersions on your character.
Consider yourself lucky. At least in Israel, the ruling party isn't lusting to take a turn on you as well...

Ah, Spring...The Beginning Of Jew-Hunting Season!
Well, not really. It's open season on them all year 'round. But a touch of spring in France always seems to raise the hate along with the temperature:
TOULOUSE, France -- Three children and a teacher were shot dead Monday morning outside a Jewish school in Toulouse, southwestern France, in an attack which bore close similarities to two previous fatal shootings of French soldiers.
The dead included a man and his two children, a police source told France Info, and the principal's daughter, according to witnesses.
Witnesses said the gunman opened fire at a group of people waiting at a pickup point outside the Ozer Hatorah school in the Croix-Daurade neighborhood of Toulouse at around 7:55 a.m. local time.
The gunman then fled on a scooter, witnesses said.
Police believe it may be the same gunman who killed two uniformed French soldiers in a drive-by shooting as they withdrew money from an ATM in the center of nearby Montauban last week, Le Figaro newspaper reported.
Blasting away at two children, a schoolteacher, and a dad. And killing two soldiers while their backs are turned. That's what we call "Muslim courage". I'm sure the state-run French media will identify the perpetrator(s) as "North African immigrants" (should they ever be caught), but you can bet your last Grad rocket that his name is Muhammad al-something...
And speaking of Grads - it's always Jew-hunting season when you live within rocket-range of Palestinians! Via Legal Insurrection, this 1 minute video is the perfect summation of the horror the Israelis have to tolerate - or surrender to, if you would listen to Barack Obama - on a daily basis. Ashdod looks like any other clean, modern city in a tropical climate - except for the shells falling upon it out of a clear blue sky:
What we we do if these blasts were heard weekly in Miami Beach or San Diego? Would we "defend" ourselves in the same manner that we constantly demand of the Israelis - that is, to sit back and do nothing, lest we enrage our would-be murders further?
Or would we engage in a similar defense as...the Israelis? Or would we act with much greater vengeance, fury, and bloodshed?
So maybe, in honor of the opening of Jew-hunting season, we should just...STFU, if just for a moment?

Oprah Winfrey - Like So Many Who Supported Obama - Is Destroyed By Him
Oprah’s brand sure has declined since 2008. Did she do something to alienate her audience back then?
~Glenn Reynolds
A cascade of events leading to a cataclysmic conclusion. For one women, anyway.
May 2007:
Ms. Winfrey, who for years has been a close friend to Mr. Obama, reaffirmed her support for his presidential candidacy during an interview Tuesday evening on CNN’s Larry King Live. It is the first time that Ms. Winfrey has endorsed – not to mention thrown her brand behind – a political candidate.
Shortly afterward:
After endorsing Obama, however, Oprah's ratings fell 7%.
In June 2008, when Obama secured the Democratic nomination, Winfrey told Entertainment Tonight:
“ I'm euphoric, I've been doing the happy dance all day. I'm so proud of Barack and Michelle Obama and what this means for all of us ... the new possibilities for our country. And if he wants me to, I'm ready to go door to door."
September 2008, after refusing to allow Sarah Palin to appear on her show, Oprah's fans begin to revolt:
You campaigned for Obama, you cried your eyelashes off at his nomination speech and you did the happy dance when he sealed the primary's after defeating hillary clinton. For years you have had women on your show speaking about how the have been affected by sexism, abuse, and other realated issues, but you have let your race and your hope for an african american president override your judgement. I'm disappointed in you and in your show.
This women (sarah palin) has endured more in the last week then any women has publicly had to endure...
November 2008, post election:
Oprah Winfrey, who cried during the celebration in Chicago's Grant Park, told the TV show "The Insider": "I was so, so, so excited and then just sort of a calm came over me. It feels like it actually is kind of real, so it feels great."
Quick jump ahead - March 17th, 2012:
Wrapping up a full day of campaign fundraisers, President Obama paid tribute Friday to one of his earliest and most prominent supporters: Oprah Winfrey.
"Just like books and skin cream," Obama said to laughter, "when Oprah decides she likes you, then other people like you, too."
More than three years after his historic election, Obama said that Winfrey is still "somebody who Michelle and I seek out in thinking about not just the day-to-day issues of the day, but trying to keep our focus on the big picture."
Really? Because that's not what they were saying a few years ago around Chi-town...November 2009:
A distraught Oprah Winfrey is telling pals her "thank you" for helping Barack Obama win the presidency has been a knife in the back.
A jealous first lady has frozen the talk queen out of the White House inner circle, say insiders. "Oprah is devastated," revealed a friend.
"She had no idea that Michelle was so jealous about the influence she had on Barack. She hated the way her husband would huddle with Oprah over strategy and jump when she called.
....Michelle has made it clear she is no longer interested in being friends with Oprah and is going to block her from access to the President."

Damage report, Mr. Scott! July 2009 (OK, we are skipping around some, but...)
Oprah Winfrey may be the Queen of Daytime TV, but it seems her reign may be slipping.
The ratings for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" during the week ending July 5 were the lowest since the talk show's debut in 1983, averaging only a 3.2 household rating, according to Medialifemagazine.com.
So how did the most popular woman in television have such a change of fortune?
June 2010:
But now, as the media mogul prepares to leave syndication and launch her own network (the appropriately titled OWN -- Oprah Winfrey Network) she finds herself in a new and unusual position: looking up at the competition.
Yes, believe it or not, 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' is actually struggling in the ratings. According to TV By the Numbers, reruns of 'Oprah' crashed to an all-time low last week...
Ah, yes - the OWN Network. April 2011:
The OWN channel, which launched two months ago, is being watched by only 135,000 people at any one time.
The ratings are 10 per cent lower than for the cable channel it replaced which was called Discovery Health.
And only 45,000 of those watching are women aged 25 to 54, the audience the channel is being aimed at.
Which brings us back to today's new of the cancellation of The Rosie O'Donnell Show on the OWN Network. A ideological sister to Ms. Winfrey, the collapse of this expensive project that was supposed to help build audience share has instead focused greater scrutiny on the failure of what media "experts" were calling a can't-miss cable network:
O’Donnell’s daytime talk show on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network got the ax after five low-rated months on the air.
OWN went for broke with the launch of The Rosie Show, whose October premiere, along with that of Oprah’s Lifeclass, were broadcast on five Discovery networks. The struggling and money-losing OWN spent some $10 million to market the two shows, whose debut was touted as an unofficial OWN relaunch. That $10 million went where the previous $250 million+ in investment from Discovery went — down the drain. After an OK start with 500,000 viewers tuning in to the premiere, Rosie quickly lost more than half of that to average under 200,000 viewers for most of its run, while Lifeclass was pretty much DOA
So what has Oprah's loyal support for Barack Obama wrought?
An alienated fan base that deserted her daytime show then refused to rejoin her when she started her OWN (ahem) network. A once-sterling reputation as a can't-miss kingmaker has been reduced to now being perceived as the standard-bearer of money-bleeding vanity projects. She was forced to move out of Chicago (There can be only one Queen of the Windy City, bitch..!) but was turned away in Washington DC when she tried to set up shop in the White House.
Increasingly friendless, star fading, she turns back to the one man she once placed Hope in: Barack Hussein Obama. She helped gather yesterday some 40 people at a fundraiser for the president, at $35K per head. Like a dog begging for a bone, Oprah was hoping for a reward, but Obama simply took the money, paid a few offhand compliments to his "bottom bitch", then immediately jetted off for wealthier climes.
Degraded; from Queen to Whore. That is what her association with Barack Obama has turned Oprah Winfrey into. It's what he's attempting to turn the whole nation into, as he tries to make us dependant on his whims for our daily sustenance.
I'm done hating Oprah. I just pity her. She's hard to look at, now. But she's an abject lesson in what happens to those who put out for a welfare pimp, thinking they can bask in their "goodness" and "generosity" - and maybe get a little piece of the action for themselves.
She's lost to us. But don't let it happen to you.

Who is Bashar al-Assad's mystery woman?
This picture has been described as "sexy" and "provocative", but there is something scary about it to me:
The undated picture shows the woman, clad only in white lingerie, pressing herself against a wall as her clothes lie discarded in a heap at her feet.
It was discovered among thousands of emails from the personal accounts of the Syrian president and his wife after their passwords were smuggled out of Damascus by opposition groups.
The photograph was sent to Mr Assad on December 11 last year by a woman who is not his wife.
More background:
So was the Syrian president whacking off to his Arabian mistress while his soldiers slaughtered civilians by the hundreds?
Me, I didn't find this picture to enticing at all. Knowing the Assads, and their blood-soaked history (Bashar's wife is no better, by the way, apparently urging on the massacre: "If we are strong together, we will overcome this together...I love you..." she seems to have written on December 28), I wondered right off the bat if this woman was a willing participant in this photo shoot. Especially after reports from Syrian soldiers who have defected from the regime:
One soldier said the "cleansing" in Rastan in Homs caused him to defect. "We were told that people were armed there. But when we arrived, we saw that they were ordinary civilians. We were ordered to shoot them," he said.
"When we entered the houses, we opened fire on everyone, the young, the old... Women were raped in front of their husbands and children," he said, predicting that there were some 700 deaths, although this has not been verified.
What's worse: This woman being an unwilling participant in Assad's peep show, or an eager sexual partner to one of the most bloodthirsty tyrants on the planet?
Interesting how the media describes her right off the bat as "sexy". The thought that she may be a victim never crossed their mind. Not hard to believe that liberal MSM simply gets off on bondage and S&M, and it's all the more hotter when it is an actual snuff shot...
Final insult - literally:
Another woman apparently sent the president a computer-graphic image of a comic camel in thigh boots and bondage gear and, on another day, an obese giraffe captioned: "Just got back from America"...

More background:
The woman in the picture stands, back to the camera, face in profile, wearing only skimpy underwear, with her arms raised and hands against the wall of a room. Dark hair piled high, she appears to be in her 20s and bears a similarity to a woman from whose account the message was apparently sent. Data embedded in the photo file indicate the shot was taken five years ago.
On the day it was e-mailed to the head of state, his army was attacking towns that had become strongholds for rebel troops in some of the heaviest fighting that had then been seen.So was the Syrian president whacking off to his Arabian mistress while his soldiers slaughtered civilians by the hundreds?

Rutherford B. Hayes Takes It To Obama, Old-Style!
What's the matter, Baracky? Nobody buying the pathetic Bush-bashing anymore? Had to find another Republican ex-President to slap down? Afraid to use Nixon, perhaps, becuase folks might draw some interesting parallels?
Well, you can spout all the smack you want about Rutherford B. Hayes, but you better know what you're talking about. Better not go around just making shit up about this guy, and thinking he'll take it lying down. Because there's this thing called the internet now, and 'ol Rutherford is gonna use it to fact-check your sorry ass. He's going all Breitbart on you, pal, exposing your sheer and utter ignorance, and he's just getting started tearing you a new one:

America Needs King Canute. Instead, We Are Given...Barack Obama
And some scoff at the idea that we have fallen out of favor with God.
Anyway - there once was a great and wise King....
Long ago, England was ruled by a king named Canute. Like many leaders and men of power, Canute was surrounded by people who were always praising him. Every time he walked into a room, the flattery began.
"You are the greatest man that ever lived," one would say.
"O king, there can never be another as mighty as you," another would insist.
The king was a man of sense, and he grew tired of hearing such foolish speeches.
One day he was walking by the seashore, and his officers and courtiers were with him, praising him as usual. Canute decided to teach them a lesson.
So you say I am the greatest man in the world?" he asked them.
"O king," they cried, "there never has been anyone as mighty as you, and there never be anyone so great, ever again!"
"And you say all things obey me?" Canute asked.
"Absolutely!" they said. "The world bows before you, and gives you honor."
"I see," the king answered. "In that case, bring me my chair, and we will go down to the water."
"At once, your majesty!" They scrambled to carry his royal chair over the sands.
"Bring it closer to the sea," Canute called. "Put it right here, right at the water's edge." He sat down and surveyed the ocean before him. "I notice the tide is coming in. Do you think it will stop if I give the command?"
His officers were puzzled, but they did not dare say no. "Give the order, O great king, and it will obey," one of then assured him.
"Very well. Sea," cried Canute, "I command you to come no further! Waves, stop your rolling!. Surf, stop your pounding! Do not dare touch my feet!"
He waited a moment, quietly, and a tiny wave rushed up the sand and lapped at his feet.
"How dare you!" Canute shouted. "Ocean, turn back now! I have ordered you to retreat before me, and now you must obey! Go back!"
And in answer another wave swept forward and curled around the king's feet. The tide came in, just as it always did. The water rose higher and higher. It came up around the king's chair, and wet not only his feet, but also his robe. His officers stood before him, alarmed, and wondering whether he was not mad.
"Well, my friends," Canute said, "it seems I do not have quite so much power as you would have me believe. Perhaps you have learned something today. Perhaps now you will remember there is only one King who is all-powerful, and it is he who rules the sea, and holds the ocean in the hollow of his hand. I suggest you reserve your praises for him."
The royal officers and courtiers hung their heads and looked foolish. And some say Canute took off his crown soon afterward, and never wore it again....
Mister, we can use a man like King Canute again. Instead, we have a guy who shuts out all save for the most flattering sycophants, bowers, scrapers, and other various lickspittles and toadys.
In other words, we are stuck with the exact opposite. And you would think King Obama's profound narcissism would still afford him room for at least a little ironic reflection, but... no.
June 2008:
...generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.

Chris Christie Doesn't Apologize To You. You Apologize To Chris Christie...
The backstory: At one of Chris Christie's town hall meetings, one William Brown - a 34 year old a law student at Rutgers-Camden (paging Sandra Fluke: we have a boyfriend for you!) - asked the governor a question regarding the potential merging of two different sate law schools. Christie couldn't get a word in edgewise, as Brown kept interrupting him and speaking over him.
Big mistake, says APP columnist Bob Ingle:
Christie, irked, said if Brown were going to be a lawyer he needed to change his behavior or would wind up in jail and punctuated the sentence with “idiot.” Officers escorted him from the room and on the way out Brown informed all he was a former Navy SEAL. I respect and admire those guys — and everyone who serves in uniform — but the people I have known in military special ops usually don’t say it to just anyone, let alone an audience. Conversely, Brown didn’t mention he ran for the Assembly on Jon Corzine’s ticket or for the Mount Laurel council.
Brown and others demanded an apology from Christie.
Let's dig deeper into that:
Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-6), a prospective 2013 challenger to the governor, who demanded that Christie issue a personal apology.
“Unless Governor Christie is using his town hall meetings to audition for a spot on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, he should apologize immediately for his immature and nasty remarks," Greenwald said.... Governor Christie should personally apologize to Mr. Brown immediately.”
Christie's response:
"He acted like an idiot, he’s an idiot,” Christie told reporters. “I have no regret I allowed him to talk for two, two and a half minutes, and every time I tried to answer he interrupted.
“I lay the rules out in the beginning,” the governor said. “If you give it you’re going to get it back. I’m going to give it right back to you. The fact that he’s a Navy SEAL doesn’t give him the right to be a jerk. I honor his service. …But that does not give you a right to be an idiot."
“Don’t forget, this guy was a Democratic candidate for the Assembly in the 8th district,” he said.
"You want to punch me, I’m going to punch you back," Christie added. "He can cry his crocodile tears, but he came in there to accomplish something."
Seems like a no-brainer, right? Evil Republican Chris Christie versus a war veteran and the sainted Democratic establishment of New Jersey?
It was a no-brainer, and apologies were issued. But not by the governor. Politco thought it had a big story, but alas:
The ex-Navy SEAL that Gov. Chris Christie called an “idiot” last week has apologized for his behavior at the town hall meeting, saying he didn’t mean any disrespect to the New Jersey governor.
“I’m not too thrilled about being known as an idiot, or being known as a jerk. That’s not what I want to be known for. I don’t want to be known as that guy,” 34-year-old William Brown told a local New York Fox affiliate. “I apologize if I came across disrespectful to the governor
Here is the video, with the incident and the apology. Note Mr. Brown's new haircut:
Final thoughts on the media's treatment of this incident, again from Bob Ingle:
Reading and watching the coverage of the original exchange was an exercise in how much bad media judgment exists. Fox did it right, but one cable network ran video that obviously was heavily edited to be anti-Christie and omitted the fact that Brown is a politician who ran for the Legislature as a Democrat, leading viewers to believe he was just another citizen in the audience.
It announced the video was edited by a viewer as if that disclaimer relieved the broadcasters in charge of the responsibility for what is aired. That’s like my saying this column was edited by readers — and therefore I am not responsible for misrepresentations or omissions or factually incorrect material.
What Mr. Ingle doesn't realize is that he is old-school, a throwback, a man with no specific political axes to grind save the desire to hold all of New Jersey's public servants to account for their actions. In other words, he's a journalist. Unlike the other 99% of his compatriots in the media...
One last note: Why do New Jersey voters, and Republicans nationwide, like the pugnacious governor?
“If you give it you’re going to get it back. I’m going to give it right back to you..."You want to punch me, I’m going to punch you back"
You want to beat the Obama machine in 2012? You better be able to do just that...

Bruce Springsteen: Tax-Dodging 1%-er Calls For Murder Of New Jersey's Middle Class
Regular readers of this blog are no doubt well aware of my disdain, disregard, and disgust for Springsteen, all exacerbated by his inflated claim to be the musical voice of the great state of New Jersey. I've already noted his moral clumsiness while doing the interview circuit to pimp his new album, but I've never listened to it. PJ Media does the dirty work, and discovers a disc dripping in hate, filled with #OWS rhetoric, with calls for class warfare and outright murder
On the second track, which is called “Easy Money,” Springsteen sings:
There’s nothing to it mister, you won’t hear a sound
When your whole world comes tumbling down
And all them fat cats they just think it’s funny
I’m going on the town now looking for easy money
Whoa!
I got a Smith & Wesson .38
I got a hellfire burning and I got me a taste…
Growing more explicit, on “Jack of All Trades,” which is narrated by a laborer, perhaps an illegal immigrant, Springsteen sings:
The banker man grows fatter, the working man grows thin...
Now sometimes tomorrow comes soaked in treasure and blood…
So you use what you’ve got, and you learn to make do
You take the old, you make it new
If I had me a gun, I’d find the bastards and shoot ‘em on sight.
There is more in this vein, including songs that echo with gunshots...
One of the many, many ironies and idiocies here is the idea of man who ties himself so tightly to New Jersey is actually advocating the murder of a large amounts of residents of the state. Nearly a quarter of the people killed on 9/11 were New Jersey residents, a number that should give you an indication of what percentage we make up of the "Wall Street crowd". But many of these people aren't "fat cats" - I see them every day at the bus stop, and they are moms and dads making a living, leaving their ten-year old Hondas in the parking lot and a brown bag lunch behind for their kids as they go off to feed their family for another day.
Now Springsteen would likely say this $60-$160K crowd (that's middle-class in the nation's highest-taxed state) aren't the folks he's targeting, but tell that to the shooter who Bruce may inspire to spray their bus -which simply says "Wall Street", and doesn't list their incomes - with automatic weapon fire. Hey, "shoot 'em on sight", right Bruce?
And of course, don't bother asking Bruce who will pay for the myriad of New Jersey's social programs - the ones he so ardently supports - if he has all of the taxpayers in the highest bracket murdered.
But we do know one thing: Bruce Springsteen won't be paying for them. He's a tax-dodger, Jersey-style:
Through a trust, Bruce Springsteen owns more than 200 acres in Colts Neck. the taxes for his house and three acres are more than $138,000. But because of the farm tax break, the tax bill on a little more than 200 additional acres is less than $5,000. Town officials say he has horses and an organic farmer working some of the land. A lawyer for the trust had no comment.
A multi-millionaire rock star, living on his mansion in Rumson off the Navasink River (the site of many a Democratic fund-raiser) avoids paying his fair share of taxes by claiming he's a farmer. Can you say "1%", you liberal douchebag?
And he's a real family man, too...well, other people's families, that is. And other men's wives:
Ann Kelly, 45, was a housewife living with her mortgage-broker husband and two children in a $600,000 home in a leafy New Jersey suburb.
But when the married Springsteen entered her life in 2005 -- showering her with concert tickets, serenading her during rehearsals and confessing she was on his mind while he toured -- the Jersey girl got lost in a "Tunnel of Love," court records alleged.
The relationship between Kelly and the "Born to Run" singer began with chitchats on the treadmills at a high-priced Red Bank, NJ, gym, but the pace quickened with lunch dates and eventually a full-on affair.
Accusations of an illicit tryst came to light after Ann's husband of 17 years, Arthur Kelly, 46, filed for divorce on March 27, 2009.
During the yearlong divorce proceeding, Arthur filed court papers alleging that Ann enjoyed a rendezvous with Springsteen while the husband was laid up in a hospital with heart trouble.
Workouts spilled into lunches at a nearby cafe, with Ann's two daughters sometimes tagging along. The children got to know Springsteen so well that they called him "Bruce," according to court records.
...in 2007 and 2008, unsigned Valentine's Day cards without stamps or postmarks showed up in the Kellys' mailbox in West Long Branch...
When Chris Christie was elected governor in 2009, Bruce Springsteen refused to play at his inauguration. Christie, not missing a beat, hired a cover band to take his place. Nobody missed him then. And they won't in the future, when New Jersey turns away from the man who sung wistful songs about seeing the state's working people covered in their own blood...
(linked by Legal Insurrection. Huzzah!)

Polling Madness: With A 51% Democratic Sample, Obama Can Only Get...50%??
Give Reuters credit for trying, in light of polls put out by the New York Times and the Washington Post - hardly conservative bastions - that showed Obama's approval rating at a sliver over 40%. Hey, someone's got to allow their reputation to take (another) hit for the team, right?
For the first time since early July, more Americans approve of the job President Barack Obama is doing than disapprove, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that shows his approval rating now at 50 percent.
The poll, taken March 8-11 on the heels of reports that 227,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in February, indicates that Obama’s rating has risen by 2 percentage points during the past month.
Just what Democrats had expected, what with the Republicans waging a war on women, shredding themselves with partisan infighting, and just being on the wrong side of every issue that's important to the American people.
And then you get to the part when you see the sample skew...
The Reuters/Ipsos telephone poll of 1,084 adults included 554 respondents who identified themselves as Democrats, 421 as Republicans, and 109 as independents. The total respondents included 937 registered voters.
So that's 51% Democrats, 38% Republican, after an election where the two parties were split 35%/35% in terms of voter turnout. And the best Obama could pull down was...a measly 50% approval? In a poll that included unregistered voters (over 10% of the total), who tend to respond overly Democratic in these types of surveys?
So he can barely hold his own party together, and is not picking up a single Republican or Independent voter. In a poll tilted wildly in his favor. Which means that the Times and WaPo surveys - which have the president as low as 41% and no higher than 46%, respectively - are closer to reality, albiet also likely leaning left.
And this is the guy the media tell us is inevitable in 2012.
Pollsters and politicians think we are, well -
“The first lesson you learn as a pollster is that people are stupid,” said Tom Jensen of Public Policy Polling, a Democratic polling firm...
- but based on the polling date above - even the crooked ones - looks like the problem they have with us is that we are nut stupid enough.
We'll see.

Israeli Children Huddle In Bomb Shelters While Palestinian Kids Skip To School
What the media won't tell you, because narrative maintenance is more important than truth:
Even as every school in southern Israel was closed for four days, keeping tens of thousands of students home, children in the Gaza Strip continued going to school as usual.
The preferred narrative, of course, is that Israel uses “indiscriminate and excessive force” against Palestinian civilians. But it turns out real live Palestinians know better: They know Israel actually makes great efforts to avoid hitting civilian targets, and therefore, it’s perfectly safe to send their children to school. In contrast, Israelis can’t safely send their children to school, because Palestinian terrorists really do use indiscriminate force, making a school full of children an invitation to a mass-casualty incident. Indeed, a rocket hit an (empty) school in Beersheba on Sunday, and rockets have also struck (empty) schools during previous rounds.
The beloved Palestinians bombs school, actually hoping and praying to kill innocent children. The Israelis, on the other hand, will allow the guilty to go free rather than risk shedding the blood of the blameless. And yet the Israelis are painted as the bad guys. Does the international community want a world full of Gazas?
Asked why Palestinians support the rocket fire despite knowing Israel will retaliate, a Palestinian “friend” told Haaretz reporter Amira Hass: “The mission of the rockets is not to liberate Palestine or win the battle, but to hurt, to cause the Israelis suffering.”.
The price for finishing off the Jews may be high, if this is the type of behavior that is rewarded. But it is, from the UN to Barack Hussein Obama to a world-wide media that won't publicize and inconvenient truth, lest it dampen the the globe's insatiable appetite for Jewish blood...

Not exactly a "bottle rocket": This is what that Palestinians are shooting at Jewish schools...Grads:
Each 2.87-metre (9 ft 5 in) rocket is..armed with high explosive/fragmentation, incendiary, or chemical warheads can be fired 20 kilometres (12 mi). Newer high explosive and cargo (used to deliver anti-personnel or antitank mines) rockets have a range of 30 kilometres (19 mi) and more. Warheads weigh around 20 kilograms (44 lb), depending on the type.

New Jersey Just Lovin' Their Chris Christie As Poll Numbers Skyrocket
Who would have thought a fat loud-mouthed Republican would become the darling of "Blue Jersey"?
Republican Governor Chris Christie, entering the second half of his first term, remains at record- high approval ratings among New Jersey voters as he presses lawmakers for a 10 percent income-tax cut, a survey shows.
The governor has the state “headed in the right direction,” say 51 percent in a survey released today, a 10- year high, according to Peter Woolley, the Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind poll director. Christie’s job performance won approval from 54 percent of the registered voters questioned, up from 53 percent in January and matching a record in September
“He probably should hold up a champagne glass and make a toast -- these are really good numbers,” Woolley said by telephone. “It’s really amazing when you consider that these sustained approval ratings have been through dramatic budget times, cuts at all levels and in a state where Republicans hold a distinct minority.”
Note that he's running on a tax cut for everybody - including the "notorious 1%" - and voters in this so-called solidly Democratic state still have his back. Maybe President Class Warfare could take some notes? Nah. He's the smartest guy in the room. He's got nothing to learn from anybody, especially Chris Christie. Valerie Jarrett told him so...
Well, Obama will still most likely take Jersey in November. Voters will seek to assuage their consciousnesses for voting Christie. But one wonders if Christie has coat-tails, or is simply respected by state voters for the unique persona/politician he is.
We'll find out. State Senator Joe Kyrillos is running against incumbent Democrat Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza) in November as well. Kyrillos is an excellent representative (mine) and a solid, common-sense economic conservative. Christie's already campaigning for him, raising $600K for Joe just the other day (putting him close to $7M behind the paid-for, embarrassing, and totally reprehensible Menendez). Christie was outspent 3-1 by Corzine and still won, but Menendez is going to run a campaign based on division by color, by nationality, and by gender.
Let's hope our governor - the former undefeated federal prosecutor - can win his case before the people of New Jersey on this important battle as well.

Think Obama's Poll Numbers Suck Now? Just Wait Until Memorial Day...
...that's assuming, of course, that much of the president's recent slide in the polls is actually due to concern about higher gasoline prices, and his concurrent desire to do little more than tilt at windmills. Literally. Of course, it could be because he's on the wrong side of the contraceptive issue, as well as the Iran issue, or that people are getting a bit tired of his hypocrisy and divide and conquer ethos...but let's humor the MSM, and stick to gas prices.
Jim Geraghty write a column - complete with charts! - that should make Mr. President soil his panties:
Adjusted for Inflation, Gas Prices Look Even Worse
While the peak [gas prices] in the summer of 2008 was $4.27, the March 12 average of $3.83 surpasses everything else before it – from the beginning of the chart in 1920 (when only a small fraction of Americans owned cars!) and through the Great Depression and through the 1973 oil crisis and through the late 1970s and 1980s, the Persian Gulf War, and after 9/11. Note that every other spike in prices tends to coincide with economic hard times.
In other words, adjusted for inflation, today’s gas prices – in March! — are worse than during every preceding gas price spike, except the peak of summer in 2008. So what will the peak price be this summer?
In March 2008, the national average was $3.20 per gallon. By June it was $4.08
What will it be this June? I say 38.
Oh, sorry. I was talking about Obama's approval rating. The price of gas will be stratospheric, crippling the economy just as we head into convention season. And I will bet my last dollar that private citizen Obama, whoring it up on the $500K speaking circuit, will brag about raising gas prices to record levels, and tout it as one of the finest accomplishments of his term in office.
Bet on it. And remember where you heard it first...

Hillary Clinton's Sick Moral Equivalence Is No "Fluke"...
...and no, for a change, it's not about equating Palestinian terrorists with the Israeli schoolchildren they murder. This time it's a bit more laughable, but equally insulting to the intelligence:
Hillary Clinton: US 'extremists' targeting women
At the Women in the World Summit held in New York City on Saturday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton denounced "extremists" for purposely trying to "control women," specifically in the United States...
"Yes, it is hard to believe that even here at home, we have to stand up for women’s rights and reject efforts to marginalize any one of us, because America needs to set an example for the entire world."
Clinton specifically mentioned Georgetown contraception activist Sandra Fluke while praising women "who are assuming the risks that come with sticking your neck out, whether you are a democracy activist in Burma or a Georgetown law student in the United States."
Nothing like marginalizing and dehumanizing your opposition to promote civil discourse. Thanks to permissions received from feminist Gloria Steinem, I can now point out that Hillary Clinton is using the same tactics on conservatives that Josef Goebbels used on Jews. Hate much, Hillary?
But besides the obvious ham-fisted attempt to toss liberal red meat to the lioness (and the men who exploit them) at the Summit, Madame Secretary offers up another offense. If you didn't catch it, Mark Steyn did:
I wonder if Mrs. Clinton gave a moment’s thought to how revoltingly insulting that comparison is to “democracy activists in Burma.” On the one hand, Zin Mar Aung, who spent eleven years in jail for writing a letter. On the other, one of the eternal children of American entitlement, attending an elite law school whose graduates proceed smoothly to jobs with a starting salary of $160,000 yet demanding the government pick up the tab for her birth control — which, even if one accepts her absurd figure of $3,000, amounts to less than the first week’s salary of that first job...
The fact that Hillary can equates these two women speaks volumes about her moral calculus. As well as that of the half-wits, dim-wits, nit-wits, and horny guys looking for a free "ride" that applauded her perverse equivalence.
But thankfully, it's a small group. Anyone else notice that on what was supposed to be a "horrible week for Republicans". Obama's poll numbers have dipped to new lows? The media wails that poor Baracky can't help it, he doesn't control gas prices (only Republican presidents do), but gas prices have been high for a while now. What else happened last week that was rather newsworthy? Oh, that. No longer newsworthy, apparently. Interesting.
You know, I have heard a lot of commentators suggest - nay, urge - Barack Obama to dump Joe Biden this fall and enlist Hillary Clinton as his new running mate. She's a woman, she's "moderate", she will unite the party...
You know - as a Republican - I think that's a good idea. Much like Sandra Fluke, I don't think the American people will find Hillary as appealing as the media believes they will.
Bring it.

The Houston Astros Get To Wear Their Gun...
This is when you know you have lost the argument:
After initially being told by MLB they had to holster the pistols, the Houston Astros announced on Friday that their Colt .45 throwbacks will include an image of the namesake firearm. New Astros owner Jim Crane credits fans for loudly voicing their opposition to the senseless showing of political correctness. Indeed, it was that outcry that forced the league to let the team make its own decision...
Their logo and name from 1962-64, before the Houston franchise renamed themselves after their indoor stadium:
Shit...bring back the Washington Bullets!
And keep your hands off of the Rockford Young Guns! (douchebag columnist alert)

Is Barack Obama Really....Nedward Flanders Sr.? (The "Freaky Beatnik")
Barack Hussein Obama speaking on the ever-rising price of gasoline:
After 39 straight days of increases, prices fell nearly a penny from Tuesday to Thursday and held steady on Friday at $3.758 per gallon for the national average. The lull won’t last long, and gas is still nearly 50 cents higher than it was at the beginning of the year...
“I’m going to keep doing everything I can to help you save money on gas, both right now and in the future,” Obama said...
Really?
The news wires are reporting that President Obama actively lobbied Senate Democrats to defeat the Keystone pipeline yesterday. The effect of blocking the Keystone XL Pipeline is to defer 700,000 barrels of oil per day....the president’s policy of choking off oil production under federal leases will prevent another 1 million barrels of oil per day this year, and even more next year.
Obama will soon be personally responsible for preventing some 2 million barrels per day of possible North American crude oil production from reaching the American economy...
Which brings us to Hurricane Neddy, a Simpsons episode where we see how Ned Flanders became...Ned Flanders. Apparently, his bizarre behavior is primarily a result of radical left-wing parents - parents who knew they had a wild, uncontrollable son, but whose ideology forbid them to do anything about it:
Dr. Foster: Would you please tell your son to stop?
Ned’s Dad: We can’t do it, man! That’s discipline! That’s like tellin’ Gene Krupa not to go banging “boom boom bam bam bam, boom boom bam bam bam, boom boom boom bam ba ba ba ba, da boo boo tss!”
Ned’s Dad: We don’t believe in rules, like, we gave them up when we started livin’ like freaky beatniks!
Dr. Foster: You don’t believe in rules, yet you want to control Ned’s anger?
Ned’s Mom: Yeah. You gotta help us, Doc. We’ve tried nothin’ and we’re all out of ideas.
So is Barack....
And so it goes when you elect a freaky beatnik to be president of the United States...
