If you recall, the smart, compassionate, and oh-so-much-smarter-than thou liberals that run Scotland decided to release Lockerbie bomber, Abdel Baset Ali al-Megrahi, this past August and allowed him to return to Libya. On the condition, of course, that he checks in with a member of the local Scottish town council with twice-monthly phone calls. The terms of his release also called for him to remain at his home address or at the hospital where he is being treated, both in Tripoli.
Surprise, surprise:
Libyan officials could say nothing about the whereabouts of Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, and his Scottish monitors could not contact him by telephone....Richard Baker, Labour’s justice spokesman in the Scottish Parliament, said the whole affair was turning into a shambles and putting Scotland’s reputation at risk.
Maybe you should have thought about that before you allowed the scorpion to ride on your back to freedom? Apparently, this has been going on since the moment of his release, which appears to have been obtained under false pretenses as well:
Megrahi has been less than cooperative with Scottish government officials since his release – [ Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny] McAskill suggested at the time that the terrorist had just three months to live because of the advanced stage of his cancer. As far as the rest of the world knows, however, he's still alive four months later.
Alive, and gleefully giving the finger to the West, having gotten away with mass murder by playing on the sympathies of liberal simpletons.
Speaking of which, maybe Barack Obama can take a hint here in his dealings with Iran? Oh, that's not necessary, I'm sure, because he's smart, compassionate, and oh-so-much-smarter-than us....
