Hey, we're Americans - nothing is over until we say it's over!
And the health care debate hasn't even begun. Sure, Obama and the Democrats had just enough of their minions in line to vote for a socialization of America's medical system, but in doing so, they've raised the American people out of a stupor and into a rage not seen in decades. Sure, the media is completely in the government's pocket, but since nobody really pays much attention to them anymore anyway, what's the difference?
We've gained a lot more than we've lost in the short term. We realize why Democrats and liberals cannot be trusted with the levers of the state, as they will always use it to empower themselves while impoverishing the nation. We've learned (thank you, Bart Stupak!) that there is no such thing as a "pro-life Democrat", or even a "centrist" Democrat - for when the call comes from the left, they will dutifully fall into line. We learned that certain provisions of our governing bodies can be stretched to force unpopular legislation down the throat of an unwilling public, and be manipulated to allow a single party to rule tyrannically.
And we can fix this. We can start in 2010 by taking back the House, where all requests for appropriations must begin. We will deny Obama his funds, we will refuse to take up his causes, we will stop the bloody train of government tyranny in its tracks, before the bodies begin to pile up under its steel wheels. We will rewrite the rules to prevent deem-and-pass, we will reassert state's rights as affirmed in our Constitution.
We will fight back against a government that has us against the wall, and at gunpoint, is taking our money, controlling our health insurance, interfering in our personal life choices, and is bankrupting our nation.
We can win this one if we stay strong, ignore the media, and pay attention to our values. Remember - as the mainstream media celebrated the permanent Democratic majority in the weeks after the 2008 election, did any of you think that in March 2010 we would be talking about the Democratic majority being in danger?
This is not the beginning of the end. It is the end of the beginning.
It's on, bitches. Bring it.

Thank you, Jerseynut. I needed to read this.
Classic.
We are not the only great minds to think a lot.

I see a lot of blogs echoing the 'don't give up' sentiment. And of course, we are right. Right?
You are welcome, Daisy. I needed to write it!
Read your piece today, C-Libertine...good stuff, people forget how many battles this nation had to fight on its heels - from the Revolution, to the stuggles of the Union Army, to WWII..."Do not let your hearts be troubled", indeed!
