Barack Obama: An Empty Shell?
How can a racist far-left radical who surrounds himself with anti-Semites be an empty shell? Still, that seems to be part of thought behind this bit of analysis, which I enjoyed tremendously:
For someone who has devoted his adult life to public service (as he describes himself), he has had almost no impact on his world. The grants that he doled out on behalf of the Annenberg fund would still have been issued to the same people. The bills that he signed on to in the Illinois state Senate would have passed, or failed to pass, had he never been elected.
The people in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago where he worked as a community organizer remain today as they were in my own South Side youth, relatively poorer and living less well than their neighbors (although much of the South Side outside Woodlawn has been transformed by private investment).
The United States Senate would have enacted or failed to enact the same laws had Senator Obama never been born. The South Side and the public education system of Chicago, the state of Illinois, the condition of the United States all testify to the nullity of Senator Obama’s life thus far.
Senator Obama’s personal charm has made many people listen to him, admire him, even love him - but he can’t produce anyone outside his family, except the stockholders of his book publishers, whose life has been transformed, or even slightly touched, by his presence or absence.
He is a one-man refutation of the premise of Capra’s movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Obama is a man who has done nothing with his life whatsoever - it does not even have the nobility of the mundane - yet feels entitled to the highest post in the land (and I thought Hillary had a sense of entitlement, but boy-oh-boy can them Dems outdo each other in this catagory!)
Many Democrats seem to view him as they do a mirror, simply reflecting back whatever qualities they see in themselves, or wish to see in him. He absorbs it, then reflects it, and simply flashes his beautific smile; enough to make the faithful swoon.
But will the national electorate do the same? The DVD of History contains many chapters starring despots -coming to power with nothing more than a slogan and a riveting style of oration - and none of these tales have a happy ending. We've been immune to the Song of the Shyster for over 200 years ; yet has it come around to our time to hoist a man with a disasterous plan onto our shoulders, to deposit him in the White House to cure all the ills we are told ails us?
Watching history unfold isn't cool. It's freakin' terrifying.

Does Mr. Obama believe this will give him stronger national security credentials?

Can't wait to see the resolution the U.N. passes...
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday called former President Jimmy Carter "a bigot" for meeting with the leader of the militant Hamas movement in Syria.
Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner [do I detect reproachment from the AP?], "went to the region with soiled hands and came back with bloody hands after shaking the hand of Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Hamas," Ambassador Dan Gillerman told a luncheon briefing for reporters...
The ambassador called last weekend's encounter "a very sad episode in American history."
There will be a lot more chapters of our history written like the one above should another "refreshing" candidate of change smile and slick-talk his way into the White House...

Time for England to Man Up
On April 11, French commandos went in with guns blazing and captured a gang of pirates who days earlier had hijacked a luxury cruise ship, the Ponant, and held the crew for ransom. This was the French solution to a crime wave that has threatened international shipping off Somalia; those of us who have been on the business end of a pirate’s gun can only applaud their action.
The British government on the other hand, to the incredulity of many in the maritime industry, has taken a curiously pathetic approach to piracy. While the French were flying six of the captured pirates to Paris to face trial, the British Foreign Office issued a directive to the once vaunted Royal Navy not to detain any pirates, because doing so could violate their human rights.
Wait, it gets stupider:
Somali regional rulers Thursday demanded compensation for civilian deaths they say occurred during a French military operation against suspected pirates last week.
They said three herdsmen were killed during the operation that followed the release for ransom of a 30-strong luxury yacht crew and insisted four of the suspects captured by French troops weren't pirates...
The French, under Sarkozy (and due credit to the French people who elected him by a wide margin; the same people who wisely spit on on the EU "Constitution" in a referendum) are getting tough. Maybe that's what happens when you've had enough of Muslim thugs burning your cities and hijacking your ships.
How much further does England have to go to reach this point? It now has blatant Muslim-enforced "no-go zones" where the nation' s traditonal colors cannot be displayed, its Church leaders have called for the institution of Sharia Law, and their once-fearsome Navy quails before pirates no stonger than the ones defeated by the U.S. Marines at "the shores of Tripoli" back in 1805.
Pathetic, and dangerous. British influence (as well as their "cobbles") will shrink with their continued unwillingness to project their power abroad; can they even hold fast against the rising radical Islamist tide in their own nation, or will they be the first to fall, in a reversal of WW II ?
Of course, this was all presaged in an episode of the Simpsons back in 2003, when Eric Idle observes Bart's fall from schoolyard grace with the following comment:
'Bart’s glory has gone the way of England’s masculinity.'”
Indeed it has....

Jimmah's Best Friends Go Jew-Killing !
Via Gateway Pundit:
Hamas claims responsibility for a suicide blast at the Kerem Shalom crossing point. At least one car laden with explosives was detonated at the key crossing point, wounding 13 Israeli soldiers in an attack the militants say may be the trigger for broader campaign to force open the borders of the Gaza Strip.
A point at Volokh's place:
There have been several attacks recently by "militants" on the crossing used to send fuel and food into Gaza. They are playing a "heads we win, tails you lose game." Keep the crossings open, and we'll kill Israelis. Close them, and the wrath of the "international community" will come down on Israel for a "humanitarian disaster" in Gaza.
Seem like something Carter himself may have suggested, no?
Sigh...happy Passover, I guess....

Jimmy Carter's Mideast Trip a Smashing Success...
Hamas official Mushir Masri, in a fiery speech Friday to thousands of Hamas supporters in Gaza, said the meetings with Carter were proof that Hamas was not a terrorist group, but a national liberation movement.
"It confirms the failure of the U.S. and European policies of ignoring Hamas," he told the crowd. "It confirms that all the countries that assume Hamas is a terrorist group should reconsider."
Jimmah employs the same techniques he used in 1979, and gets the same results. Only now the ex-coward-in-chief is gaming the rules, and trying to pretend that these are positive results. It's probably the only way he can ease the cognitive dissonance that rages in his head -convinced he is a peacemaker because he once staged a photo-op handshake (and eventually got a prize for it), yet simultaneously realizing that much of conflict that rages in the Middle East today is a direct result of his tragic policies there as President.
So what could Jimmy do to reconcile his aching head? Why, turn his vice into a virtue, and collect what accolades he may, I suppose. Sad.
And yet...future Messiah/President Barack Obama cannot wait to go down the same foreign policy path as Brother Jimmy. Already endorsed by Hamas, expect BHO to ditch his empty election-year promise to the Jews, and practice some Carteresque fellatio on the murderous icons of the American Left.
It's gonna get ugly.

Obama: The Rich are Virtuous, The Middle Class are Idiots !
The well-heeled San Francisco Democrats Obama addressed on Friday stand to pay much higher taxes if he is elected. Many of them no doubt back Obama because they like his liberal positions on subjects like guns, abortion and same-sex marriage. If you think Obama criticized their priorities, we've got some change you can believe in.
In Barack Obama's America, rich people who vote on cultural issues rather than economic self-interest are principled and self-sacrificing. People of more modest means who do so are credulous and bitter.
What a revolting man. A candidate for President of the United States? He's seems unqualified to even be a Senator...

"Snobama": Arrogant/Elitist/Racist
Having grown up in one of those small Pennsylvania towns Sen. Barack Obama sneers at, I know what really makes people there "bitter." It's slick-talking politicians who look down on their beliefs and values.
Small-town people get doubly "bitter" when those pols have the gall to ask for their votes while demeaning their lives. See, even hicks don't like being played for suckers.....
Through his warped vision, if you own a gun, oppose gay marriage or want our nation's borders sealed, you're just bitter over your lousy job. Amazingly, he even sees the embrace of God as a reaction to the bad economy.
Such a dark view of heartland hearts is not very Christian and suggests Snob-ama really did hear the rants of his pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
His last sentence touches upon the racist aspect I mentioned the other day; one the media is afraid to touch. You don't have to be as smart as Barack Obama to put this puzzle together:
-Obama spends 20 years of Sundays listening to the rants of an anti-Semetic, anti-white, anti-American preacher, one whose message he feels so relaxed with that he labels said preacher as his "spiritual mentor" and feed his sour spirtual milk to his two young daughters,
-dismisses his grandmother - who sacrificed her life's dreams in order to raise him - as nothing more than a "typical white woman",
-derides the residents of small-town Pennsylvania and the American Midwest - a predominately white area - as racists, as bitter folk whom "cling" to irrational ideas such as God and the Second Amendment because they have not yet basked in the enlightenment that is his Messianic self.
Democrat Barack Obama as the ultimate "postracial" candidate? No, Obama as a more pure racist candidate than anything that the "evil" GOP has ever dug up from the dregs.
To bad the smartest man in the room cannot even recognize what is staring back at him from the mirror...

Obama: Done
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Wow. Guess the idea of a person holding moral values, that, you know - they may actually believe in - is so alien to the mindset of Barack Obama that he needs to invent a whole psychodrama to explain it away.
Apparently, if these folks (who have been unemployed for 25 years?) had jobs - you know, the ones that Barack Hussein Messiah Obama will create with a beneficial wave of his hand once elected - they wouldn't need all that silly "God" stuff, they'd allow the Second Amendment to be eradicated, finally throw the borders open wide, and be through with all that "bitterness"!
I don't know what's more appalling - his own underlying hostiltity to those who do not share his far-left ideology, his elitist slap at small town America, or the underlying racist tone of this comment.
After all, what kind of people are always pictured living in these "small towns in Pennsylvania and...in the Midwest"? Not exactly urban enclaves, are they? From the mind of Jeremiah Wright to the mouth of Barack Obama...
The media honeymoon is well over,as the AP has a pretty stiff leade:
Obama says some voters are angry, bitter
In the midst of an assault from his rivals, a defensive Barack Obama said Friday that many working-class Americans are angry and bitter over economic inequalities and have lost faith in Washington — and, as a result, vote on the basis of other issues such as gun protections or gay marriage
The Illinois senator's analysis of what motivates working-class voters came after chief rival Hillary Rodham Clinton accused him of looking down on such voters....
The article has another Obamian explanation for why the rubes - ah, sorry, unemployed white Midwesterners - vote the way they do:
"People don't vote on economic issues because they don't expect anybody is going to help them," Obama told a crowd at a Terre Haute, Ind., high school Friday evening. "So people end up voting on issues like guns and are they going to have the right to bear arms. They vote on issues like gay marriage...
Obama simply cannot believe anyone could hold a different value system than he himself does; cannot grasp that someone may look at the same set of facts and come to a different conclusion, and act on it. So he invents bitterness - the way a 9/11 conspiracy theorist invents "preplaced explosive charges" - to explain the inexplicable.
Incidentally, would a man who obviously does not understand the meaning or preciousness of a moral principle ever send men to fight or die for one ? Yeah, no wonder al-Qaeda sees Obama and waits, drooling with anticipation of the fun they'll have...
How any thinking voter (except the small three-grouping I mentioned on top) could vote for this man, thinking that he may somehow represent them, is beyond me.
Not that I am worried, really.
Obama: Done.

Thar' They Blow (again...) !!
A noted hurricane researcher predicted Wednesday that rising water temperatures in the Atlantic will bring a "well above average" storm season this year, including four major storms.
The updated forecast by William Gray's team at Colorado State University calls for 15 named storms in the Atlantic in 2008 and says there's a better than average chance that at least one major hurricane will hit the United States,
An average of 5.9 hurricanes form in the Atlantic each year....
Let's hit the wayback machine and visit the dire days of 2006:
May 29, 2006 - Al Gore's new movie on global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," opens with scenes from Hurricane Katrina slamming into New Orleans. The former vice president says unequivocally that because of global warming, it is all but certain that future hurricanes will be more violent and destructive than those in the past.
With the official start of hurricane season days away, meteorologists are unanimous that the 2006 tropical storm season, which runs from June 1 through November, is likely to be a doozy...
And the results of season of '06? The envelope, please!
9: The number of named storms this year
17: The number of named storms predicted May 31 by a team at Colorado State University led by Professor William Gray
Hey! Now where did I hear that name before? Oh, yeah....
Gray's 2007 predictions were as follows:
Named storms (17)
Hurricanes (9)
Major hurricanes (5)
Did Gray improve in 2007? Hmmm....:
...2007 [wil]l rank as a historically inactive TC year for the Northern Hemisphere as a whole. During the past 30 years, only 1977, 1981, and 1983 have had less activity to date...
And how does this media-darling meteorologist defend his wildly off-the-mark prognostications?
"We don't worry about it," he said. "We've moved ahead."
To the next batch of bad science, no doubt.
Eventually, the truth comes out:
Gray's team says precise predictions are impossible, and the warnings raise awareness of hurricanes.
"Raise awareness"? By scare tactics and exaggerated threats? Seems like by constantly crying "Wolf!", these rogue weathermen are actually raising the possibility that a true warning will be ignored...
Call me naive, but I miss the good old days when science actually relied on, you know, what were they called again?
Oh yeah - facts !
UN hits bottom, digs, sinks to new low, blah, blah, balh
Well, if there is going to be formalized hate, the BBC should be the ones to report it, propogandize it, and glorify in it:
The next UN investigator into Israeli conduct in the occupied territories has stood by comments comparing Israeli actions in Gaza to those of the Nazis.
Speaking to the BBC, Professor Richard Falk said he believed that up to now Israel had been successful in avoiding the criticism that it was due.
Professor Falk is scheduled to take up his post for the UN Human Rights Council later in the year....
I don't know what to say. Really, do I need to even say anything?
I will huck a loogie at the BBC, who call Gaza "occupied" although Israel withdrew and handed it over to the peace-loving Palestinians almost five years ago. And for good measure, Biased BBC reports that the network broadcast today introducing the story of Richard Falk began by declaring the UN the "highest moral authority" .
Well then. Like pigs rolling in sh*t, indeed.
Israel will make a token gesture of defiance before the emasculated Olmert gives in:
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said Tuesday it won't allow the U.N. official appointed to investigate Israeli-Palestinian human rights to enter the country, after he stood by comments comparing Israelis to Nazis.
Richard Falk is scheduled to take up his post with the U.N. Human Rights Council in May, but Israel's Foreign Ministry said it will deny Falk a visa to enter Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, at least until a September meeting of the council.
At that meeting, Israel intends to ask the council to expand the envoy's mission to include investigating Palestinian human rights abuses against Israelis. The mandate currently allows him to monitor only human rights violations by Israel in the Palestinian territories.
Good luck with that. Can't wait to see the balanced report that Falk issues.
Anyway - here's an appropriate coda:
Falk, a professor emeritus at Princeton University....

Recession: New Jersey
And what I saw - and didn't see - was more than a bit disturbing.
Starting in my own bucolic middle-class neighborhood, I saw the usual amount of "for-sale" signs swinging in the breeze - albiet ones that had been posted for a while. But for the first time, I saw houses that were literally priceless two years back now sitting empty, abandoned, with big realtor's locks securing the front doors. Forced out by foreclosure? Or just moved away, with no buyers for their homes? The crisis has broken through the gates, and like the plague, is picking off my neighbors one by one.
Driving south, I passed a mini-mall under contruction, that just one month ago bragged "Only one retail space left!", now sporting a sign advising there were three different sized units still available. A second mall, further west, containing perhaps ten units, had only one operating business. The remaining nine stood empty.
And what didn't I see? Any new housing under construction - this in a state that was tearing down trees and putting up homes in every available space just over a year ago. I spotted some new home sites, but the lack of earthmovers and the weeds growing around the foundations lead me to believe they had been sitting unworked for quite some time. Nor did I see any new business sites coming up, again in a state that had been clearing out farmland by the thousand-acre for office and retail space.
And not once did I spot a new vehicle in over 100 miles of travel - new in the sense of carrying that paper "license plate" in the rear window that suffices for legality for the first few weeks of ownership. Lots of older cars, though. In a middle-class state like Jersey, where most folks flip their vehicles after a three-year lease, the absence of shiny new street metal was striking.
Perhaps it was just the route I had chosen, and the dark overcast sky that never broke during my trip, that set the mood. I drove over pothole-ridden streets, long in disrepair, and twice had to swerve to avoid wandering chickens. At a lonely red light, I looked into the trees, only to see a pair of turkey vultures - large, black, and greasy - staring ominously back at me. I rode past older homes with a single light buring thru old curtains, and past residences boarded up and left to crumble within their setbacks, wild weeds overcoming their driveways. Empty service stations - littered with clunkers - abounded; $3.00+ gas and no takers....
But it is not atmosphere. Having seen a number of my old friends over the past few evenings - most self-employed within the state - I heard many variations on a similar story: clients dropping like flies, budget cutbacks, new business opportunites canceled before start. They too spoke of delaying projects and investments for a while; I thought to myself of the ripple effect that would have upon people counting on their business. One of my good friends was just laid off a job he held for over ten years; another is counting the days she has left, knowing they are numbered.
I sat down for brunch in a half-empty restaurant ; when I asked the owner how business was, he looked down and shook his head. Smaller crowd every week, the waitress whispered in my ear.
I drove home, and as I turned back into my neighborhood a cold rain began to fall, and windswept leaves gathered on the lawns of darkened houses with no occupants....
I think we have a problem here. Maybe this is the bottom; but maybe it is not, and the fall has just begun. But I think the pundits and politicians on both sides are a little bit removed - Larry Kudlow tells us that recessions are therapeutic, while the folks at Powerline try historical perspective:
...the unemployment rate in November 1996, when Clinton rode a soaring economy to victory, was 5.4%. That's right--three tenths of a percent higher than the "grim picture" of a "pink slip nation" painted by this month's unemployment report.
But how many people does the 5.1 % of today represent, as opposed to the 5.4% of a dozen years past? For that, we get no answer.
But while the right may be equivilating and insensitive, the left is worse - Hillary demands a "poverty czar" (to keep people in?), while Obama uses the recession to make political hay - now that's audacity ! Nevertheless, his recipe of tax hikes and protectionism is abominable, and will surely be the death of us all.
Perhaps it is best for the goverment to just wait it out, as one might argue that federal interference can likely hurt way more than it can help. Still, it is little solace to those chasing chickens down godforsaken routes on wooded lanes.
I realize that due to the corrupt and corrosive policies of the Democrats, New Jersey may be in a bit of a worse "state" than others. But if my little driving tour was any indication, things in my little piece of the Union are worse then I have ever seen them in my lifetime. And I have zero faith in billionaire Jon Corzine or his flunkys to do anything to improve the situation. Although perhaps their cluelessness is a hidden blessing....
I am generally an optimistic person (as befits a conservative?). But right now, I sit worried, greatly concerned that we may be heading into quite a bit of a downspin, with no local or national leadership to help guide us through.
God has always looked over America, and has provided us with the right people at the right time. Let us hope we still find favor in His eyes...

Jon Corzine: An Obama Girl ?
New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D), who has already endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton, said in a CNBC interview this morning that he may cast his vote at the Democratic convention for Sen. Barack Obama if Clinton doesn't win the popular vote.
While Corzine emphasized he still thinks Clinton will win the popular vote, he did open the door to a possible switch.
Just how egrarious of a betrayal would this be to his fellow blue Jerseyians? Well, take a look at the county-by-county map below:
Yup, that's "Clinton red" (I guess next to Obama, she is a neo-con) in 17 out of 21 New Jersey counties, with a 53% to 43% popular vote advantage, winning the state with a margin of well over 100,00 ballots. Obama's vote, interestingly, comes from counties that are either heavily black, or heavily wealthy. (An amazing dissertation on the wealth/class/Obama correllation issue can be found here)
So is that why Corzine is willing to swing his endorsement of Hillary over to Obama - so that he may sit more comfortably in the parlors of his contemporaries, New Jersey's high-income elite?
Ah, now we are getting somewhere. His governership has never been about serving the people of New Jersey; it has been about imposing the far-left values and liberal ideals held dear by Corzine - and his rich, clueless compatriots - upon the state's hapless middle class. It's about Corzine drinking champagne in the drawing rooms of the extremely wealthy, basking in the praise of the self-appointed elites as he puts their theories into practice (results be damned).
If they say Obama, so sayeth Corzine, despite the wishes of hundreds of thousands of his state's fellow Democrats.
But hey - you guys elected this lying, cheating, duplicitous clown. And you never thought he would turn on you? Don't act suprised, just bow your heads, bend over, and take it like the unwashed masses that your leaders have ordained you as...

Whoremongers!
First "The Spitz", now Thomas Athans, the husband of Michigan's Democrat Senator (and Hillary Clinton Superdelegate) Debbie Stabenow.
Wait! Just becuase he's married to a Dirtycrat doesn't make him a liberal idoit, you say? Well, let's see what Mr. Athans was previously known for:
Tom Athans is a notable member of the Democratic Party from the state of Michigan. He is a co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio, an organization that produced and supported liberal talk radio shows....
On November 4, 2005, Athans stepped down as CEO of Democracy Radio, ending the organization....After stepping down from Democracy Radio, Athans became the Executive Vice-President of Air America, a much larger but similar organization.
So he ran one "progressive" radio network into the dirt, which apparently by liberal credentials makes him thus qualified to lead another one, Air America. Haven't heard much from them lately, right? Well, maybe if Athans spent more time working and less time chasing hookers...but I guess that goes against the liberal credo.
Anyway, the dirty details:
The husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow told police he used the Internet to make a date with a prostitute and paid her $150 for sex at a hotel, according to a police report.
Thomas Athans, 46, co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network, was stopped by police who were investigating Internet-based prostitution at the hotel, the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News reported Wednesday in stories on their Web sites.
And who was his pay-per-view paramour?
Police arrested Alycia Martin, 20, of Westland in the hotel room on a charge of prostitution and confiscated a cell phone, laptop and $431.
A girl - not yet a woman - just out of her teens. And this is considered fair trade by the head of the nation's liberal radio network.
And they wonder why there is a "values gap..."
More at Gateway Pundit...
Stabenow is revolting, incidentally. When questioned about her husband's physical and moral infidelity, she used the opportunity to work on her stump speech:
"I think it's important to continue to do my job and to focus on people in Michigan who are hurting every day and expect that I'm going to fight for them every day"
Uh huh.
