Gilad Shalit Shines A Light On The Palestinian Death Cult...
...but only for those who wish to see. Victor Davis Hanson:
The Palestinians have just shown the entire world their collective values — and the result is creepy beyond belief. Every once in a while a single incident crystallizes almost everything....The crude and coerced Egyptian interview of Gilad Shalit says it all. He looked emaciated and short of breath, like the old film clips of those who had just emerged from Dachau; his Egyptian inquisitor, the repulsive Shahira Amin (lately a heartthrob of the Western media, who drew praise in the past from Secretary Clinton), preened like some sort of Lady Haw-Haw reading a script from Goebbels’s Ministry of Propaganda — with a masked Hamas thug in the background, rounding out the cast, perfectly playing the part of a cowardly killer from the SS Einsatzgruppen.
As if a chorus on cue, the released killers immediately boasted that they would murder again. Then, there was the vow to kidnap more soldiers, the anger that the 1,000-to-1 ratio of exchange was not enough, the usual anti-Semitic Hitlerian communiqués boasting of “victory” over the “apes and pigs,”....So all that raises a question in this supposed morally equivalent conflict: Why in the world are we giving one cent in foreign aid to Palestinian groups of any sort?
Some thoughts:
-If Mitt Romney - who feels the pain of the "99%" - gets elected, he will continue to provide foreign aid to the Palestinians, no matter what types of horrors they unleash upon the innocent
-The German foreign ministry called the swap a “prisoner exchange” the other day. Really? If Europeans cannot tell the difference between a democracy and an innocent soldier kidnapped in his own territory from that of a terrorist group whose charter embraces genocide, then Europe is in more of a black hole than Gilad Shalit ever was.
-The Amnesty International crew may be some of the worst people on Earth. At least Hamas boasts of their murders; the Amnesty crew tries to disguise their hatred and anti-semitism as an elite type of higher value. Amnesty’s statement on the Shalit trade, titled “Israel-Hamas prisoner swap casts harsh light on detention practices of all sides", is primarily a blast at Israel, with Shalit barely even getting a mention. Did anyone notice how fat and well fed the released terrorists looked, and how sickly and weak Shalit appeared?
-Speaking of Amnesty, did you know that do not allow pro-Israeli Jews to enter their meetings? Like the Palestinians, we need to stop their funding, even if that means cutting off cash to the NGO's who fund Amnesty.
Finally:
In the final analysis, the painstaking agreement was green-lighted by the only vibrant democratic government in the Middle East, the state of Israel. The effort to win Shalit’s freedom is a tribute to Israel’s democracy and its acute sense of justice. While Syria and Iran’s totalitarian regimes are bludgeoning their populations, Israel’s government seeks to protect its citizens from terror and affirm the core principle of human freedom for its population.
There is no moral equivalence. None. To claim it is to show proof of your own antisemitism, your own twisted morality, and your own peculiar death wish....

This anecdote is supposed to illuminate Energy Sec Steven Chu's lack of political acumen. Instead. it illuminates Barack Obama's lack of intellectual dexterity:
Internally, some have questioned Energy Secretary Steven Chu’s role in overseeing the efforts, noting that the Nobel laureate with the keen grasp of physics at times seems to lack political skills. On one occasion, Chu prepared a dense PowerPoint presentation to brief Obama on the complexities of last summer’s BP oil spill. After Chu narrated six slides, one senior adviser who attended the meeting recalled that Obama simply stood up and said, “Steve, I’m done.”
Or maybe Barack Obama is a man who, to paraphrase Dirty Harry, knows his limitations. And he's aware of his brain-pan's inability to absorb any information or data that conflicts with anything outside of an extremely small ideological box. So why waste his time trying to comprehend facts that will get rejected upon receipt anyway?

"Occupy Wall Street" & "The Hippie Problem"
Well, it's not really our problem - after all, hippies, like the poor, have always been with us, at least if you were born any time after 1960.
It's hippies that have the problem, and may be the ones hardest hit (sorry, "minorities and women!) by the latest economic downturn. Frank Fleming explains:
You might think that high unemployment has no effect on hippies, who were never looking for work, but you’re forgetting how much they depend on the resources of others. With everyone struggling, no one is really in the mood to listen to hippies demand free health care and student-loan forgiveness.
This is really hard on hippies, because that’s not something they can understand. Try to explain how economics works, and they’ll just tilt their heads, furrow their brows and point at what they want, never comprehending why someone can’t just hand it to them.

In a Sunday speech dedicating the new Chinese-designed memorial to Martin Luther King, Jr., Obama signaled his support for progressive groups protesting in New York City and elsewhere.
That afternoon in a remark that reflected the protesters’ chosen language, White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the president will work to ensure the “interests of 99 percent of Americans are well represented” in government.
On Friday, Obama’s chief political adviser said his campaign would leverage the public’s anger at Wall Street to slingshot Obama — and his top Wall Street aides — back into the White House for a second term.
“We intend to make it one of the central elements of the campaign next year,” David Plouffe, Obama’s chief political advisor, said in a Washington Post interview.
Great plan! Too bad it has zero to do with reality. The Hill:
In the minds of likely voters, Washington, not Wall Street, is primarily to blame for the financial crisis and the subsequent recession.
The movement appears to have struck a chord with progressive voters, but it does not seem to represent the feelings of the wider public.
The Hill poll found that only one in three likely voters blames Wall Street for the country’s financial troubles, whereas more than half — 56 percent — blame Washington.
Moreover, when it comes to the political consequences of the protest, voters tend to believe that there are more perils than positives for Obama and the Democrats.
A plurality believe that the Occupy Wall Street movement will hurt Democrats and Obama in the 2012 election....

Her son, Casey, a 24-year-old Army specialist, was killed in a Sadr City ambush last year...even if they send out a squad of Swift Boat Moms for Truth, there will be a countering Falluja Moms for Truth...the moral authority of parents who bury children killed in Iraq is absolute.

There were countless young adults whose baby boomer parents had marched these same streets in protest over three decades ago. All that was missing was the sour tinge of tear gas in the air.
And here we are again, with the media latching on to a ragtag protest group and deeming it with absolute moral authority, declaring its shopworn antics to be the sign of "something big", all the while encouraging them to continue on with their disgusting antics. The first time, it was to discredit a Republican president, this time, it is to discredit a Republican Congress (while desperately attempting to prop up a failing Democratic president).
Cindy Sheehan - a woman who was photographed lying in her son's grave in order to gain publicity - was reviled by mainstream Americans, and never as popular as the MSM made her out to be:
She eventually quit the movement she started, saying:
I have also tried to work within a peace movement that often puts personal egos above peace and human life. This group won’t work with that group; he won’t attend an event if she is going to be there; and why does Cindy Sheehan get all the attention anyway?
Speaking of egos - Sheehan was vile, but even more so was the media, who egged her on even as she became an ever more embarrassing spectacle with each passing day. They will do the same thing now with the "Occupy Wall Street" protesters, encouraging them on to more outrageous acts, even violence, which the media will decry while simultaneously expressing sympathizing and understanding over the outbreak of "justifiable anger". Eventually, once it gets through that these people are hurting the president, not helping him, the media will dump Occupy Wall Street like ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag. Just like they did to Sheehan, when she turned the focus of her ire to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi...

Chevy Volt Barely Matches MPG of Electric Car Built In...1896
GM CEO Dan Akerson on the Chevy Volt:

Really? I beg to differ. How about "an overpriced taxpayer subsidised lesser version of a car built 115 years ago?"
Uh-huh.
Meet the Roberts electric car. Built in 1896, it gets a solid 40 miles to the charge — exactly the mileage Chevrolet advertises for the Volt.
Its present-day owner, who prefers not to be named, told The Daily Caller it still runs like a charm, and has even completed the roughly 60-mile London to Brighton Vintage Car Race.
Imagine how much attention that would attract in the showroom! Congressman/Chevy dealer Mike Kelly (R-PA) no doubt would love to have one:
I’m a Chevrolet dealer… we have a Chevy Volt on the lot, it’s been there now for four weeks. We’ve had one person come in to look at it, just to see what it actually looks like… Here’s a car that costs $45,763. I can stock that car for probably a year and then have to sell it at some ridiculous price.
When you look at this, it makes absolutely no sense. I can stock a Chevy Cruze, which is about a $17,500 car and turns every 30 to 40 days out of inventory… or I can have a Volt, which never turns and creates nothing for me on the lot except interest costs… So a lot of these things that we’re seeing going on have a tremendous economic impact on people who are being asked to stock them and sell them. There is no market for this car.
Ironically, who should agree with this 1 percenter, this greedy corporate businessman, this Republican, but...a group of Berkeley professors:
Even lefty profs at Berkeley could see that the Volt was a horrible investment. Berkeley physicist Leon J. Schipper, for one, was not enamored of the Volt.
Analyzing the Chevy Volt, the new sedan that is supposed to go 40 miles on batteries and then use a gasoline engine, he calculated that because of inefficiencies in electricity generation, its fuel economy was no better than a Toyota Prius hybrid running on gasoline, while its price was roughly double that of the Prius.
"Does the extra $20,000 justify the overall fuel and possible carbon dioxide savings?" he asked.
Or, for even less money, they can buy the all-gasoline Chevy Cruze, which gets 42 MPG...or, if your morality refuses to allow you to feed more cash into bailout recipients, you can opt for the Ford Focus (below) and its range of 40 MPG...
Finally - some truth and irony. First,let's take a look back to September 5th of this year, when the New York Times actually said something that was accidental honest (same Daily Caller link as on top):

Correct! The best vision that can be created with federal dollars: An financially inefficient version of a technology already developed two centuries ago.

Barack Obama Gets a New Jersey Salute
..and I'm not talking about a fist-pump. I'm talking about the kind you oft get on the New Jersey Turnpike
President Obama’s job-approval rating has dropped to 43 percent in New Jersey -- the lowest of his tenure, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released yesterday....
From the poll:
New Jersey voters disapprove 52 - 43 percent of the job President Barack Obama is doing, his lowest score ever in the Garden State. Disapproval is 88 - 10 percent among Republicans and 60 - 34 percent among independent voters. Democrats approve 77 - 19 percent. There is a large gender gap as women approve 50 - 45 percent while men disapprove 60 - 36 percent.
Voters split 47 - 48 percent on whether President Obama deserves reelection.
Meanwhile, another politician in New Jersey is seeing his numbers trending opposite those of Obama's:
Governor Chris Christie is enjoying his highest approval ratings to date in New Jersey, according to a Monmouth University/NJ Press Media Poll released this morning.
55% of registered voters approve of the Governor compared to 37% who disapprove. Among women there was a 15 point swing in favor of the governor. 53% of women approve while 40% disapprove. In an August Monmouth poll, 45% of women approved of Christie and 48% disapproved.
Among Independents, 58% approve of Christie and 34% disapprove.
This is interesting:
Despite his increased popularity, New Jersey is not optimistic that Christie will be able to forward his agenda through the Democratic legislature. 54% of New Jerseyans say that the Democratic leaders in the legislature are not working well with Christie compared to 32% who say they have been working well together. Among Independents, 59% say the Democrats and Christie are not working so well together.
Today’s Monmouth poll is consistent with the FDU poll released on September 27. In the FDU poll, while 54% of New Jersey voters approved of Christie, 47% said that the state is on the wrong track.
Seems like I'm hearing that the Democrats better get behind Christie...or else.
Taken to a national level, when the Democrats in Washington complain about gridlock in the hope that voters will blame the Republicans for blocking their agenda, well....maybe the electorate will go to one-party rule in November. Just not the one party that that the Democrats - and the media - are assuming they will.

The White House has released the menu for tonight's state dinner for South Korean President Lee Myung Bak, and the main course comes from Japanese cattle bred in Texas.
The Texas Wagyu Beef will be served with orange-ginger fondue, sauteed kale, and roasted kabocha squash, according to the White House....

Riots on Wall Street: Just Like The Tea Party!
Remember that time when the Tea Party rioted, destroyed property, and assaulted police?

Hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters -- emboldened by officials backing down this morning from evicting them from their Zuccotti Park campsite for a 7 a.m. cleaning -- stormed Wall Street, leaping over barriers and getting into a fracas with cops.
The throng of protesters streamed on to Broadway, blocking traffic, setting up a confrontation with police who are waiting for them on the street.
Things turned predictably violent as cops tackled protesters and chased them up the street -- forcing everyone to the sidewalks -- in what turned into a melee.
Police arrested at least eight people on Beaver Street, as a throng of protesters flipped over a police scooter on Broadway.
Thoughts:
- See what appeasement of the Left begets?
- Will the media encourage this behavior, or ignore it, as they do with the sporadic outbursts of "Occupy Wall Street" anti-semitism?
-maybe if these loser liberals would get out there and do a little, you know, work - it wouldn't take "a throng" of them to flip over a freaking scooter...

Biden, Hoyer Talk Of Solidarity w/"Occupy Wall Street" Before Sumptuous Lunch With Bankers
Politics - and politicians - as usual. The Weekly Standard notes the recent defenses made of the "Occupy" crowd by the Vice President:
“What is the core of that protest, and why is it increasing in terms of the people it’s attracting?” Vice President Joe Biden recently said. “The core is the bargain has been breached with the American people. The American people do not think the system is fair or on the level
And by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer:
"This is a democracy and one of the good aspects of democracy is people get the opportunity to express their concerns and hope that action will be taken to address those grievances....One of the problems that we have in this country is that a minority controls the United States Senate and that the majority of the representatives of the United States Senate are precluded, too often, from considering the merits of proposals which have a majority support but not 60 votes support,” he said. “I think that’s unfortunate.”
So who and where and with whom did our two "men of the people" have lunch today?
Today, at a State Department luncheon featuring the South Korean president, Biden and Hoyer are sharing a table with Lewis B. Kaden, the vice chairman of Citigroup bank, Michael K. Wirth, Chevron Corporation's executive vice president for Downstream & Chemicals, and banker James B. Flaws, vice chairman and chief financial officer of Corning Incorporated.
The State Department's menu does sound pretty tasty:
Appetizer: ROASTED TOMATO, AVOCADO, QUINOA TOWER with pistachio mint pesto, fennel, caper dressing
Entrée: LEMONGRASS SESAME CHICKEN with ginger-tamarind sauce, carrot-ginger puree, broccolini, pearl onions
Dessert: WARM CHOCOLATE TART with milk chocolate mousse and malted milk ice cream
And the design pretty snazzy:
The luncheon will feature a mix of Sky Blue, Cerulean Blue, and Apple Green linens inspired by the beauty, color and tranquility of the South Korean mountain range. The floral arrangements will be comprised of a mix of Pink Lotus flowers and bamboo branches.
...Jennifer Epstein of Politico, adds: "A harpist welcomed more than 200 guests to the eighth floor of the State Department, leading them to drinks in an anteroom and, from there, into the Benjamin Franklin State Dining Room, a high-ceilinged space with eight chandeliers that State’s website says are Adam-style cut-glass."
Franklin's sense of humor and irony would be well-served here...

Remember when Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher produced that creepy, neo-fascist video, "A Presidential Pledge", which had all matter of celebrity meat swearing their fealty to Barack Obama? "I pledge to be a servant to my President"...no wonder Obama is so dazed and confused, wondering how it could have all gone so wrong so quickly...
But I though of that video when I saw that Kutcher had broken up his marriage by having wild sex with a 22 year old girl out in San Diego. I guess his marriage vow - perhaps the most sacred a man can take - meant so little to him that he felt they were disposable to his need to have meaningless sex with a local hottie. Especially one who refused to worship and serve at the feet of his personal Jesus:

That last sentence is telling, "He laughed at pretty much everything I said". Did he think her conservative politics were a joke? Surely. Did he think so little of this girl's intellect that he found everything she said to be humorous, the wittering of a child, and indulged her until he was ready to f*ck her again? Probably. Is this "liberal superiority": the misogynistic using of women for your own satisfaction that you believe are inferior?

But there's a lesson here: the only true fealty a liberal has is to his or her personal hedonism, and they'll break every pledge they have ever made in order to indulge it....

Why Collections Go Down When Taxes Go Up
...or, were I in a less kind mood, "Liberal Tax Hypocrisy 101"....
This is the free portion of a WSJ online article, which I can't fully access because I don't subscribe. But the first few paragraphs tell you all you need to know about Obama's base, and where he is taking the country. And did I mention this piece was written by David Mamet?
Liberal Tax Dodgers and the Disrespected Sushi Chef
There I was with a friend, and she was shopping for T-shirts for her daughter's Sweet Sixteen party.
We went to a store in Brooklyn, which did silk-screening. The owner had examples of his artwork on various articles of clothing in the window. These featured beautiful portraits of President Obama, and other compelling images.
My friend explained her needs, and the owner quoted her a price for the lot: shirts, artwork, silk-screening. "But," he said, "I could do better if you pay in cash."
Così fan tutti, which, as I understand it, means "So do they all."
Wonder if our entrepreneurial artist is currently "Occupying Wall Street" right now, demanding that the rich pay more in taxes so he can continue to get government services without having to pay his legally-mandated contribution towards them?
Kind of like...Greece, where everyone deals in cash, then riot in the streets when the government, starved of tax receipts, threatens to cut back on benefits. Sound familiar?
Sounds like "The Occupy Wall Street" crowd to me. Looks like where Barack Obama and the Democrats are taking us...
And I'm waiting for a massive, government-sponsored, burning of the works of Mr. Mamet. Heresy is the one unforgivable sin. Just ask the Islamists...
This is the free portion of a WSJ online article, which I can't fully access because I don't subscribe. But the first few paragraphs tell you all you need to know about Obama's base, and where he is taking the country. And did I mention this piece was written by David Mamet?
Liberal Tax Dodgers and the Disrespected Sushi Chef
There I was with a friend, and she was shopping for T-shirts for her daughter's Sweet Sixteen party.
We went to a store in Brooklyn, which did silk-screening. The owner had examples of his artwork on various articles of clothing in the window. These featured beautiful portraits of President Obama, and other compelling images.
My friend explained her needs, and the owner quoted her a price for the lot: shirts, artwork, silk-screening. "But," he said, "I could do better if you pay in cash."
Così fan tutti, which, as I understand it, means "So do they all."
Wonder if our entrepreneurial artist is currently "Occupying Wall Street" right now, demanding that the rich pay more in taxes so he can continue to get government services without having to pay his legally-mandated contribution towards them?
Kind of like...Greece, where everyone deals in cash, then riot in the streets when the government, starved of tax receipts, threatens to cut back on benefits. Sound familiar?
Sounds like "The Occupy Wall Street" crowd to me. Looks like where Barack Obama and the Democrats are taking us...
And I'm waiting for a massive, government-sponsored, burning of the works of Mr. Mamet. Heresy is the one unforgivable sin. Just ask the Islamists...
One Billionaire Who HAS Sold Us Out....
...is Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City. Just a few days ago, he was condemning the "Occupy Wall Street" protests that were filthifying Zuccotti Park and, as he himself claimed, costing the city jobs and millions of dollars. Monday, he changed his mind:
“The bottom line is, people want to express themselves, and as long as they obey the laws, we’ll allow them to,” the mayor told reporters at the start of the city’s 67th annual Columbus Day parade. “If they break the laws, then we’re going to do what we’re supposed to do — enforce the laws.”
"Obey the laws"? Has he seen what goes on down there? No doubt he has, because very little in escapes Mayor Nanny's prying eyes. Seems like he made a conscious decision to let this ugliness go on indefinitely, and turn his back on the city he is sworn to protect. What would cause Michael Bloomberg to abdicate his responsibilities to the city of New York? Michael Goodwin has two possible rationales:
A favorite choice is that his political team, always on the lookout for a sign of life in his presidential fantasy, decided he should stay neutral just in case.
From this view, the protesters are a free-floating national constituency that could be for sale and the mayor is always a willing buyer. Voting, after all, is just a transaction and he was ready to spend $1 billion in 2008.
There are hints he may be calculating again. Suddenly, numerous reports credit the mayor with being a supporter of First Amendment rights who backed a mosque in the shadow of Ground Zero. Bloomberg’s pollster is also floating talk that 2012 could be ripe for a third-party candidate as Ralph Nader urges the mayor to run.
So the first theory is Michael Bloomberg sold out New York to help his own job prospects. Bad enough. But this one is somehow worse:
But we must be open to another mayoral motive in coddling the protesters. He invited them to stay about the time they hatched their plans for yesterday’s march on the homes of millionaires and billionaires.
The mayor, one of the richest people in New York and certainly the most powerful, was spared yesterday but could still be a target. Maybe, just maybe, he’s hoping his embrace of the protesters will win him an exemption, especially since he’s willing to let the hooligans camp outside other people’s houses.
His Upper East Side townhouse alone is worth the GDP of a small country. Recently described as befitting a 19th-century robber baron, it contains tables worth as much as $90,000 each, a collection of old master paintings and a Chippendale couch valued at $1 million.
It’s on East 79th, a lovely block that’s perfect for a tent city. Campers could even name their liberated spot in his honor: Bloomville.
He so richly deserves it.
I think it's a little from column A, a little from column B. But Bloomberg - like Obama and Democrats who support this ragtag bunch of college students and perpetual protesters - seem to forget history, and how many folks who thought they controlled the mob wound up being among the first to feel the sting of the guillotine...
I hate to sound like an anti-capitalist thug, but protesting in front of Bloomberg's house is something I can get down with. Try to sell my life out to the mob so you can eat Doritos on a million-dollar couch? Think again, pal....

The Jew-hatred among protesters and sympathizers is diverse and unapologetic. It is, in fact, atmospheric. Tune in randomly to live television coverage of the spectacle and you’ll see—as I did—placards scapegoating Israel, Zionism, or “Hitler’s bankers.” Check out the continuous flurry of protest-supporting tweets and blog posts, and you’ll get more of the same.

The article questioned why the political implications of this Jewish influence on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East were not a subject of debate.
In October 2010, Shopper's Drug Mart pulled Adbusters off of its shelves after a photo montage comparing the Gaza Strip to the Warsaw ghetto was featured in an article critiquing Israel's embargo of Gaza.

Cantor’s starring role for Democrats is born of necessity. Without a presidential nominee for several more months, Republicans do not have a natural leader for Democratic strategists to focus their energy on...

So Occupy Wall Street is made up of vapid, perpetual college students, aggrieved that the world hasn't paid them just rewards for a lifetime spent studying...sociology. You know, I am just not that sure if this is a movement that has legs, no matter what Mr. Torrence might be wearing....
