Used To Be, Israel Knew It Was Safe With America In The Room...

...that was, of course, before the coming of The One. Now, Netanyahu won't even go to a meeting in Washington D.C. with Obama and other Middle Eastern powers; for all he knows, Barack will hold him down while the Muslims take turns on him:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has withdrawn from President Barack Obama's nuclear security summit in Washington next week, fearing Muslim powers would use it to demand Israel give up its presumed nuclear arsenal.

And why not? If America is unilaterally surrendering their arms before their enemies, Obama will insist that Israel follow his lead. Or based on his barely disguised hatred of Israel, who knows what he may do? Certainly, the last thing Obama will allow is to hold on to a privilege - nuclear arms - that he himself is forfeiting.

Seems like Netanyahu knows what is coming:

...the Foreign Ministry in Ankara said Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who has stepped up criticism of Israel since last year's Gaza war, would demand while in Washington that it disarm as part of a nuclear-free Middle East.

"Israel is the principle threat to peace in the region today," the French newspaper Le Monde quoted Erdogan as saying in Paris this week.

Used to be a time, when Israel knew America would stand up for its interests, even if they were the only nation in the room to do so. Used to be a time when American presidents understood the destruction of Israel would only be a precursor to the eventual destruction of America.

That seems like ages ago. Now Israel goes into the room, and in America sees only another Muslim face, another aggrieved nation, another leader with disdain for the Jews.

Welcome to Change.
