New Jersey Turns Against ObamaCare

What state do I live in again? Blue Jersey, right? At least, that's what we used to call it, especially when guys like Barack Obama win the state by 15.5%...

Because I'm getting confused. A state with a 600K+ Democratic registration advantage voted in a Republican governor by a four-point margin. A state that is attempting to recall Senator Bob Menendez (D-La Raza). A state in which a majority of its residents favor repeal of the onerous ObamaCare:

Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters in New Jersey, a state Barack Obama carried handily in 2008, now favor repeal of the recently-passed national health care bill. That includes 41% who strongly favor repeal.

Forty-two percent (42%) of New Jersey voters think the health care plan will be good for the country, while slightly more (47%) predict that its impact will be bad.

But voters also are closely divided over whether New Jersey should join the other states that are sung the federal government to stop the health care plan, challenging the constitutionality of its requirement that all Americans buy or obtain health insurance. Forty-five percent (45%) favor such a lawsuit, while 43% are opposed. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.

Why has New Jersey gone from "reliably blue" to a reddish-purple? Well, note how, worldwide, the nations that are most opposed to any type of appeasement with totalitarian states are those who have lived under leftist tyranny and domination (Eastern Europe, for example). In New Jersey, we've spend the better part of the previous decade living n a socialist state, complete with humongous deficit spending, outrageous income redistribution, and thousands of petty laws that eroded our freedoms (all of which were blithely ignored by the politicians who created them...remember to fasten your seat belt today, Jon Corzine).

Look at the wreckage that is now New Jersey. But we're trying to pull ourselves out, and not pull the rest of the nation down with us (see California, state of). Having lived under socialist policies for years, we have awoken and are slowly, but surely, throwing off the chains of liberalism and daring to search for a new way.

If Jersey and Massachusetts have turned...are there any safe havens remaining for the defunct policies of the Left?

California, maybe. But let's see how long it remains "afloat"...

Tea-Party Barbie!

How White Is The "Tea Party"?

It seems to be the #1 epitaph thrown against the Tea Party - "it's too white". The New York Times gives it a shot, in the second paragraph of its anthropological study of the bizarre form of life commonly known as the economic conservative, previously unknown to anyone at the Old Grey Whore:

The 18 percent of Americans who identify themselves as Tea Party supporters tend to be Republican, white, male, married and older than 45.

Just like this girl, seen in Boston:

Or talk-show host David Webb, about to lead today's Tea Party rally in New York City:

Truth of the Tea Party movement is that it is just about 50/50 male/ female (the Times poll is the first to show it 59-41 male...trying to fulfill the "angry white man" meme?), and it enjoys a healthy mix of all races and nationalities...hey, one can certainly say the Democratic Party is "majority white" as well, no?

Two interesting confessions the Times makes:

Their responses are like the general public’s in many ways.

Are we all radicals now?

Tea Party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public..

More "well educated", huh? That's always been the coin of the realm at the New York Times; that the views of the well-schooled and well-heeled should take precedence in national decision making. Do they now acquiesce intellectual control to the Tea Party, or will the Times go on an binge of anti-intellectualism? (granted, some may say they have been doing that for a while now...)

The Times tries - lord how they try - to paint the Tea Party as hypocrites and extremists ("And while most Republicans say they are “dissatisfied” with Washington, Tea Party supporters are more likely to classify themselves as “angry.” ) But one can almost feel the air coming out of our intrepid journalists, as the paper's own data lends itself more and more to the truth: This is a Tea Party Nation.

I expect mass suicides on 42nd street any day now...

Obama's Nuclear Summit Gets Immediate Results! OR - What Barack Obama Can Learn From Lisa Simpson

...and from Iran, no less! After hearing Obama talk constantly about America giving up its nukes, and how other countries may be willing to follow suit, Iran was apparently persuaded by Obama's rhetoric to get involved as well:

Iran has succeeded in producing its first significant batch of further enriched uranium, the country's nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi said Wednesday, a move defying U.N. demands to halt the controversial program.

...Washington is accelerating its campaign for a new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran for its refusal to suspend enrichment, as demanded by the United Nations. Salehi's announcement was a further sign of Tehran's determination to push ahead with the program.

What a shock! While we disarm, our enemies arm? Who would have thought it? Well, Lisa Simpson, for one, in a "Treehouse of Horror" episode entitled The Fright to Creep and Scare Harms:

Bart and Lisa are at the Springfield Cemetery, mourning the loss of their pet goldfish, Goldie, who had always been there for them between August and October. Lisa inadvertently discovers the grave of William Bonney, a man who was killed at a young age by gun violence. According to his epitaph, he dreamed of a world without guns.

In his memory, Lisa starts a gun control crusade, which makes Springfield 100% gun free - even the police no longer possess guns. The town is now defenseless, causing the corpses of William "Billy the Kid" Bonney and his cohorts, 'The Hole in the Ground' gang (Frank James, Jesse James, the Sundance Kid- without Butch Cassidy, as they're 'not joined at the hip'- and Kaiser Wilhelm II) to rise from the dead. The gang starts wreaking havoc on the town, until Professor Frink invents a time machine, which Homer uses to go back in time to stop the gun ban and destroy the zombies.

Homer tells the citizens of Springfield to shoot at the zombies' graves, causing them to rise up and flee. Lisa feels guilty about banning guns, because sometimes they are the answer.

Somebody tell the president of the United States...please.

Tea Party Democrat Challenges Frank Pallone (D-NJ)

The loathesome Frank Pallone (D, NJ-6) is getting a Democratic primary challenger...from the right. From a self-described Tea Partier, no less! Oh, Lordy!

Tea Party activist and Middletown resident Mark Falzon, 56, filed petitions with approximately 240 signatures today to secure a ballot position in the Democratic primary against incumbent Congressman Frank Pallone.

Falzon, who is currently unemployed, is an IT professional. He most recently worked for AT&T for seven years as a network implementation specialists. He has been married for 31 years, has five children and 2 grandchildren.

He said that he is challenging Pallone because, "the Democratic Party has been taken over by radical leftists. Would John Kennedy fit in to today's Democratic Party? No way! I'm so upset my head is about to explode."

He is running under the slogan, "Democrat Tea Party Approved." "The Tea Party movement is not just about Republicans anymore," declared Falzone.

Well, it never really was. it was primarily disaffected Republicans and independents duped by The One. But if Democratic partisans join the movement..what will the media do next? Kill its own spiritual children to save itself? Or frantically re-work the narrative?

In Falzon’s words, “we are a true grassroots movement impacting both parties, tens of millions of us rising to save this beloved nation.”

He's right. But we already knew that. I doubt he'll defeat the heavily-funded Pallone (and should he, a vote for Falzon would still become a vote for Nancy Pelosi, so I'd have to go with Republican challenger Diane Gooch).

But the Democratic coalition that was supposed to give them a generation of power is crumbling before their eyes, and appears beyond resurrection. And if Democratic regulars pick up the Tea Party rhetoric, their entire liberal program will not last past November 2010.

Conversion and salvation before resurrection, I suppose...

Did Barack Obama Destroy Oprah Winfrey?

That question keeps popping up, especially when I read things like this:

In the back and forth battle between Oprah and Judge Judy for daytime supremacy, Judge Judy won for the second week in a row. Prior to Ms. Winfrey’s recent winning streak of three weeks, Judge Judy had a 10 week run of winning.

Why is Oprah the "undisputed Queen of daytime TV" when she can't even beat out a caustic judge? We may never know, as the media continues to pump her rapidly fading prowess while simultaneously shunning Kitty Kelly and anything regarding her new tell-all book on Chicago's richest and most famous woman (really, since when can the media resist a story about a celebrity with with such juice as "As a teen, Winfrey was a wild child, promiscuous to the point of prostitution."?)

Does the media protect her because she is "one of them", or because she is actively politically "one of them"? After all, Oprah for the first time stumped for a political candidate back in 2008. So what was the result of her choosing color over gender, and embracing hardcore liberalism?

Getting beaten day in and day out by hardcore conservative Judge Judy, that's what.

And it's no surprise....from Oprah's message boards, the revolt of her fans when she choose Obama over Hillary, and refused to interview Sarah Palin:

You campaigned for Obama, you cried your eyelashes off at his nomination speech and you did the happy dance when he sealed the primary's after defeating hillary clinton. For years you have had women on your show speaking about how the have been affected by sexism, abuse, and other related issues, but you have let your race and your hope for an african american president override your judgement. I'm disappointed in you and in your show.

.......I do not support sarah palins politics but the treatment of her over the last week has spurred an anger in me that I didn't even know existed. Oprah you ought to be ashamed and embarrassed.

And how has she been repaid by the Obamas, who she risked her career to pimp to the nation? The same gratitude any whore shows to a pimp:

A distraught Oprah Winfrey is telling pals her "thank you" for helping Barack Obama win the presidency has been a knife in the back. A jealous first lady has frozen the talk queen out of the White House inner circle, say insiders. "Oprah is devastated," revealed a friend."

....Michelle has made it clear she is no longer interested in being friends with Oprah and is going to block her from access to the President."

And of course, Oprah is soon to leave Chicago for LA. Michelle Obama is the true Queen of the Windy City, bitch, and don't you forget it...

Would Oprah have been on the decline had she stayed out of the 2008 election entirely? Maybe, a case could be made that even the "best" shows get tired. But how interesting it is that her fortunes, as expressed by the ratings, seem to mirror Barack Obama's, as expressed by the polls.

Should have kept out of, Oprah. You finally decided to pick a horse, and boy, was it a loser...

NPR Hatemonger Wins Pulitzer Prize

...because what is more insightful and enlightening than depicting conservatives, libertarians, and ordinary Americans as knuckle-dragging troglodytes?

The story starts with an animated cartoon on the National Public Radio website, entitled "Learn to Speak Tea Bag." Yes, it is an ugly as it sounds. I'll let Byron York carry you the rest of the way:

The cartoon, by satirist Mark Fiore, was a mock instructional video in which viewers were told that if they were "distracted by the confusing words of other languages" -- for example, by the calm and rational discussion of health care reform -- they could instead learn to speak "Tea Bag." At that point, a figure began to yell, "Socialist! Socialist!"

"If you're having trouble understanding the words of others or being understood yourself, use Tea Bag's stronger, more descriptive words," the cartoon narrator said. The figure then yelled, "Nazi! Nazi! Nazi!" The video took brief shots at Republican Reps. John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Michele Bachmann before envisioning a "paranoid future" in which people speak Tea Bag and walk around screaming "Nazi! -- Socialist! -- Baby killer!"

"Tea Bag," the video concluded. "Because other languages are just too hard."

Written with all the intelligence and depth of knowledge one would expect from an angry college freshman, or perhaps a writer for MSNBC. Even NPR execs got skittish, and went so far as to label the piece as "Opinion", in case any of their superintelligent readers got a bit confused on that whole fact/fiction thing. Even NPR's ombudsman, one Alicia Shepard, admitted some discomfort with the item in question:

"Chief among them is it doesn't fit with NPR values, one of which is a belief in civility and civil discourse," Shepard wrote. "Fiore is talented, but this cartoon is just a mean-spirited attack on people who think differently than he does and doesn't broaden the debate. It engages in the same kind of name-calling the cartoon supposedly mocks."

Which apparently delights the Pulitzer committee to no end, as they just presented Fiore with the Pulitzer Prize for cartooning:

For a distinguished cartoon or portfolio of cartoons characterized by originality, editorial effectiveness, quality of drawing and pictorial effect, in print or online or both....

Awarded to Mark Fiore, self syndicated, for his animated cartoons appearing on SFGate.com, the San Francisco Chronicle Web site, where his biting wit, extensive research and ability to distill complex issues set a high standard for an emerging form of commentary.

Is reducing the 58% of Americans opposed to ObamaCare to an idiot mob shrieking "Baby-killers! Socialists!" "biting wit"? Is it an example of "extensive research"? And while I will agree that this is a "complex issue", how does characterizing opposition to radical legislation as merely the caterwauling of buffoons "distill" this issue, or bring any clarity to it? And this is a "high standard"? As opposed to what? Der Stürmer?

It doesn't, of course. The Pulitzer Prize committee simply agrees with Fiore's take on independents and conservatives, and is rewarding him for making the most vulgar version of their view of others appear to be respectable by publishing in under the NPR banner.

The Pulitzer goes the way of the Nobel Prize. Awards for self-loathing Americans and hardcore lefties only.

Me, I'd rather have a People's Choice Award....

Update: Liberal douchebag Fiore keeps the hate up via his Twitter account:

Death By Political Correctness

In the old days, Western Civilization used to burn witches at the stake. We're way beyond that now, and after all, government that deems itself as "compassionate" cannot be seen as having too much blood on their hands. So today, we threaten the modern-day victims of our "witch hunts" with the 21st- century equivalent of the public stockade, and they tend to do the right thing all by themselves. From the Isle of Britain:

A medical technician killed himself after being suspended from work after someone complained that he made a politically-incorrect joke about a black friend.

Roy Amor, 61, who was devastated at the prospect of losing his job making prosthetics, shot himself in the head outside his house.
He was facing a disciplinary investigation after suggesting to the black colleague that he ‘better hide’ when they noticed immigration officers outside their clinic.

It is understood that the man was a close friend of Mr Amor and was not offended. However, it was overheard by someone else who lodged a formal complaint.

Five days after his suspension, Mr Amor received an email about the incident from his employers, Opcare, a private company that provides prosthetic and orthotic services to the NHS.
A few hours later police found his body in the road outside his home near Bolton, Lancashire, after being alerted by a neighbour.

Sources told The Mail on Sunday that he left three notes, all of which mention Opcare, including one written outside his workplace at 5pm on the day before he died in which he describes his despair.
The black man, who is believed to have attended Mr Amor’s funeral and had known him for many years, is said to be ‘shattered’.

Last night, Mrs Amor, who was not at home at the time of her husband’s death, was too upset to comment. Friends said Mr Amor was a highly regarded and experienced prosthetics technician.

Well, who cares how good he was at his job, helping to make the lives of amputees more enjoyable? Who cares that he made a joke in private to a friend? This is a thoughtcrime, a hate-crime, of the highest order! One is pleased that he put a bullet in his own head; for at the end he was finally thinking of the government first, and saving them the time, money, and embarrassment of "executing" him themselves. See how our system works in the end? That's why no one even feels guilty about it:

Opcare chief executive Michael O’Byrne admitted that Mr Amor had been suspended over the joke.
He added: ‘It’s an enormous tragedy and we are all in mourning. I knew Roy personally and he was an excellent technician.’

Asked if he had any regrets about suspending him, he replied: ‘I don’t want to comment further.’

He doesn't need to. All this, coming to a nation near you....

Obama's Nuclear Summit Strictly a "B-List" Affair

Really, the nations that are not showing up are a virtual "Who's Who" of once-important allies, friends, and strategic partners:

As remarkable as it is, the fact that neither British Prime Minister Gordon Brown nor Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are attending President Obama’s nuclear security summit in Washington Monday and Tuesday is not altogether surprising.

Relations with both countries — Israel in particular — have grown strained under Obama. Combined with Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s recent defiance of the administration, questions are growing about the president’s ability to maintain important relationships.

The president’s critics, many of them from the Bush administration, say the summit absences — heads of state from Australia and Saudi Arabia also are not attending — are the most glaring examples of a floundering foreign policy that treats rivals and enemies better than friends.

The Brits and Aussies, friends of America for over a century. The Israelis, our spiritual partners and soul-mates. And the Saudis, who while ideologically may be on the opposite end of the spectrum of American democracy, still supported most of our strategic goals in the Middle East and elsewhere. All of them so turned off by Barack Obama that they refused to attend the American president's signature summit. More:

Even major European leaders got meetings with Obama this week only at the last minute. German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s one-on-one meeting with Obama was scheduled for Tuesday late on Sunday, only after meetings with the leaders of India, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Pakistan, Nigeria, China, Jordan, Malaysia, Ukraine, Armenia and Turkey.

Tell A-listers they need to get behind D-listers and wait at the velvet rope, and suddenly you are left with has-beens and never-will-be's while the crowd and the influence follows the ones you left behind. I'm not sure how much an agreement with the Ukraine will shake the foundations of the powerful, although our media will try its best to make it seem so. More likely our power to change the course of History will decline, and the mantle of leadership will pass to others. Hopefully, others with good intentions, although that has not always been the case.

There is no doubt Barack Obama sees this as a good thing; his ideology - held since he was a college boy, unchanged by any life experience - brought to fruition. For the rest of the world, who has been screaming about US imperialism since, well, forever - they too may see the dream of a diminished America realized.

Let's see if wanting is indeed a better thing that having...

Soldiers Surprising Their Loved Ones...

...via Barking Moonbat, who truthfully informs us that if this video fails to bring a tear to your eye, you are either an alien, or... a liberal:

Racial Arsonists Clam Up

If somebody reported a fire, then refused to answer any further questions about what they saw, when they saw it, and about obvious contradictions in their story...wouldn't you become a bit suspicious about the man who cried "fire" ?

The ombudsman of the Washington Post was following up on the paper's quick-trigger accusation of Tea Partiers in the alleged racial incidents at the Capitol on "Health Care Socialization Day", and finds himself rather...stonewalled:

Cleaver was hit with spit, but whether it was deliberate is very much in question. The video suggests he was unintentionally sprayed by the screaming protester. The distinction is significant because it fundamentally changes widespread media characterizations of what occurred...Cleaver's office did not return repeated calls seeking comment for this column.

Through spokesman Justin Ohlemiller, Carson stands by his assertion. The spokeswoman for Lewis, Brenda Jones, insists he and his chief of staff heard repeated uses of the N-word. They are declining interviews, she said, because they don't want to "fan the flames of destructive language."

Maybe that's the truth. Or maybe the racial fire lit by Reps. André Carson of Indiana and John Lewis of Georgia have already served their purpose. They have smeared the Tea Party with a baseless, hate-filled allegation that the media picked up without question, and the narrative was shifted away from the massive protests against ObamaCare that were gaining momentum across the nation, and to the question of just how racist the Tea Party actually is.

Now that the smoke has cleared, we see that there is precious little fire behind these claims. And now that a few (too few) intrepid reporters want to find out the truth behind this story, the accusers have clammed up, sending out spokesman to block all inquiries.

If this was an actual fire, the police would have subpoenaed these people under suspicion of starting the very blaze they called in. But because they are politicians, and people of color, they are allowed to hide behind race and privilege, and escape justice for their unconscionable deeds: smearing a huge group of honest, hardworking, innocent citizens with baseless lies in order to gain further power for themselves.

The should be held to account for what they have done. And if the media doesn't, the voters should.

What Makes A Liberal Tick?

...it's a good question, asked by blogger Bad Rachel:

What is it about liberals and the longing for what Neal Kozodoy once so brilliantly called “the ratifying kick in the teeth?” Why do they despise their familiars and love The Stranger who hates them—and hates them all the more for their craven pursuit of him?

The defining question of our age. I've always thought that in order to be an viewed as an authentic liberal, one who cares so deeply about all of mankind, the liberal feels he must show endless love towards those who hate him - and wish him dead - in order to prove he can still hold on to "progressive values", even if that sentiment is not returned.

After all, of what use to your progressive bona fides is the respect and love of a friend, of an ally? That is a mutually beneficial relationship; a common one that even a conservative would partake in! How does that help prove your elite nature? No, it is to love without reward or return -even more than that, it is to love when the returns are actually negative - that proves you truly are a person who holds the needs of others over the needs of oneself. How moral, hos socialist, how utterly...progressive.

Maybe that is why Obama scorns Israel (and England, and France, and Germany, and Canada) and chases after Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hugo Chavez, and their ilk. Praising a Western ally is worthless, while worshipping at the feet of a different culture shows true multi-cultural gravitas. And if they kick you in the face? All the better, as it gives you a chance to go crawling back, and once again prove that you are progressive enough to surrender everything in the hope of recognition from what Rachel calls The Stranger.

It is a win-win within the liberal mind: Kick me, and I show how progressive I am by returning again and again for more; but accept me, and my values are validated (along with my belief in my personal greatness and superiority).

Alas, when this left-wing psych-drama plays out in the real world, the results can be deadly. Obama's groveling before Iran has not stopped their nuclear program, and his bashing of Israel has neither reformed the Palestinians or brought the region any closer to peace. Old allies are estranged, old enemies are empowered, and The Stranger plays the liberal like a pro - taking more and more for them before delivering the kick to the teeth that brings them back to surrender once again.

Can someone please get the Obama administration some psychological help, before their quest for liberal perfection and self-validation kills us all?

Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ): A Living Timewaster

With all of the issues currently afflicting our nation at this point, only a New Jersey Democrat - in this case, Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) - is dumb enough to believe that this is a valuable use of taxpayer's time and money:

A Democratic member of Congress next week is holding a hearing into baseball players' use of chewing tobacco.
Chewing tobacco has long been used by players both in the dugout and on the field, but there have been recent calls to tamp it down because of the health risks posed by the product, such as oral cancer.
Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), who helms the Energy and Commerce health subcommittee, said that the practice provides a poor example to young people who are baseball fans.

So does a Congress that ignores the will of the people, and spends the nation into crippling debt, but I don't see Pallone holding any hearings on those "poor examples"...

Pallone is considered to hold a "safe" seat; he represents a gerrymandered district that encompasses most of what one might call the "northern portion of the Jersey Shore", a older and slightly poorer area. He's also got a pretty nice war chest all ready for 2010.

BUT - Pallone's 6th District went for Chris Christie last year 51% - 43%, a pretty big margin of victory for a Republican in a D+8 district. And Christie, it is said, is licking his chops at the opportunity to exact vengeance on Pallone, who was an outspoken (and often rude) detractor of the Republican during the 2008 governor's campaign. Furthermore, the lovely and quite wealthy Diane Gooch appears a lock to get the Republican nomination for CD-6, and has already let loose some early salvos....

Pallone took a lot of heat at recent town hall meetings, the district is moving towards the right, the most powerful man in New Jersey wants to bring him down, and his opponent this fall cannot be outspent. So what to do?

Get in front of the cameras and trash Major League Baseball. Makes him a big man, I suppose.

Not quite sure if the irritated, overtaxed, and under-appreciated voters of NJ-6 are going to agree with that...

Used To Be, Israel Knew It Was Safe With America In The Room...

...that was, of course, before the coming of The One. Now, Netanyahu won't even go to a meeting in Washington D.C. with Obama and other Middle Eastern powers; for all he knows, Barack will hold him down while the Muslims take turns on him:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has withdrawn from President Barack Obama's nuclear security summit in Washington next week, fearing Muslim powers would use it to demand Israel give up its presumed nuclear arsenal.

And why not? If America is unilaterally surrendering their arms before their enemies, Obama will insist that Israel follow his lead. Or based on his barely disguised hatred of Israel, who knows what he may do? Certainly, the last thing Obama will allow is to hold on to a privilege - nuclear arms - that he himself is forfeiting.

Seems like Netanyahu knows what is coming:

...the Foreign Ministry in Ankara said Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who has stepped up criticism of Israel since last year's Gaza war, would demand while in Washington that it disarm as part of a nuclear-free Middle East.

"Israel is the principle threat to peace in the region today," the French newspaper Le Monde quoted Erdogan as saying in Paris this week.

Used to be a time, when Israel knew America would stand up for its interests, even if they were the only nation in the room to do so. Used to be a time when American presidents understood the destruction of Israel would only be a precursor to the eventual destruction of America.

That seems like ages ago. Now Israel goes into the room, and in America sees only another Muslim face, another aggrieved nation, another leader with disdain for the Jews.

Welcome to Change.

Bart Stupak To Quit? YES HE CAN!

(updated below)

According to The Campaign Spot, Congressman Bart Stupak, essentially the deciding factor in allowing Obama's socialization of medicine to take place, is expected to announce his retirement today.

Too late to undo the damage he did to this great nation, and the American people. He sold out his principles for an executive order, which is not worth the paper it is written on, and perhaps even less when Barack Obama's signature is on the dotted line.

Did he have second thoughts about his actions when he heard the pro-abortion crowd crow about how the executive order changed nothing? Or was it when Hillary Clinton went abroad, and demanded that other nations include abortion in their "prenatal care packages", just like America now does?

Stupak is likely first now realizing what he's done, and how much of a sucker he was. But leaving the scene of a crime doesn't make you any less culpable. It allows the culprit, though, to escape the public eye, and thus avoid the barbs and scorn that comes their way.

But he still has to live with his own shame at what he's allowed to happen. He won't be able to leave that behind when he exits Congress. From your own conscience, Bart, there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide...

UPDATE: Stupak makes it official. Just before the Tea Party Express was about to roll into town and highlight his sins. How convenient. Still want to mock the Tea Party movement, Baracky? Seems like they have more influence over your party than you do....

ObamaSpeak: Every Day, A New Way To Say TAX!

Amazing, how stupid the Democratic party believes the American people to be. Yesterday, we learned that the raised Medicare tax rate (a result of health care reform) will be called an "increased Medicare donation", even as the dollars are used for anything but Medicare. Today, with cap and trade looming on the horizon (what, you thought that increased "donation" was going to cover it?) the Democrats frantically scramble for a yet another euphemism for "tax hike". Ken "Scumbag" Salazar comes up with one:

Proponents of the legislation in the Senate are reworking the proposed emissions rules and have jettisoned the term "cap and trade." The system for reducing emissions now is being called "reduction and refund". Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told CNBC last week "the term cap and trade is not in the lexicon anymore."

Yeah. OK. And I got a bridge right out my window that I can sell you on the cheap....

This reminds me of two things - first, an episode of The Simpsons entitled "Bart to the Future", where President Lisa Simpson is flummoxed over how to handle a massive budget deficit:

Lisa: If I'm going to bail the country out, I'll have to raise taxes, but in my speech I'd like to avoid calling it a, "painful emergency tax."

Milhouse: What about, "colossal salary-grab."

Lisa: See, that has the same problem. We need to soften the blow.

Milhouse: Well, if you just want to out-and-out lie ... [Lisa doesn't object] Okay, we could call it a, "temporary refund adjustment."

Lisa: I love it !!

The second, of course, is Atlas Shrugs:

In the words of Eugene Lawson, the resident idealist:

We must not let vulgar difficulties obstruct our feeling that it's a noble plan motivated solely by the public welfare. It's for the good of the people. The people need it. Need comes first, so we don't have to consider anything else.

Mr. Thompson, the Head of the State, seconds Lawson's message but wants prettier packaging: "That's the line, Wesley. Tone it down and dress it up and get your press boys to chant it – and you won't have to worry."

And that's what Obama and Salazar are counting on. For the press to follow their lead, call climate legislation "reduction and refund", paint the Republicans as haters, and confuse enough Americans to get another "colossal salary grab" passed.

Problem is, we're smarter than the Left assumes us to be. And we won't get fooled again.

But if it didn't stop them from passing health care reform, and believing the bullsh*t that they peddled, what would stop them now, especially as they need the money to pay for the aforementioned reform.

"Temporary refund adjustment", here we come....!

Would You Want Nancy Pelosi to Fix YOUR Refrigerator?

From the mouth of idiots - ah, from the mouth of the Speak of the House of Representatives - comes this gem:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in San Francisco on Tuesday, celebrating the passage of healthcare reform.

She received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Mark Hopkins Hotel...

The Speaker compared it to the enactment of social security, medicare and the civil rights act.
And while she said it may not be perfect, it’s a bold step in the right direction.

”It’s like the back of the refrigerator. You see all these wires and the rest,” said Pelosi. “All you need to know is, you open the door. The light goes on. You open this door, you go through a whole different path, in terms of access to quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans.”

Nancy assumes that, because she uses a refrigerator without understanding it, we should accept her health care reform, without understanding it.

Hmmm....but if your refrigerator broke, you would call an expert repairman to fix it, one who understood where all the wires went and what they did. Is Nancy Pelosi claiming that she is such an expert on health care that she should be entrusted to reconfigure and manage the whole system? Based on what? The fact that once put a band-aid on her grandkids? Would she trust me to fix her refrigerator, based on the fact I know how to change a light bulb?

Nice to see the condescending attitude she has towards average Americans. You're too stupid to understand how a refrigerator works, how can you comprehend the entirety of health care? Leave it to me, and just be grateful that you can get a doctor's appointment at all....

But even the layman can see when they've hired someone who is simply fiddling with the wires, changing the screws, and making it up as they go along, with no real clue of what makes the massive machine run. So it is with Pelosi and the national health care system.

What do you do with such a "repairman"? Fire them, and show them the door. Are you smart enough to get that analogy, Nancy P.?

Our Taxes Are Now Called "Contributions"?

There, doesn't that make you feel better now? Your taxes have not been raised, you only "contribute" more to the federal government, under penalty of imprisonment!

I sh*t you not:

The name of the new 3.8 percent “Medicare Tax” on investment income (imposed on people in the upper two tax brackets) was changed the day before the House vote. Its official name in the law signed by President Obama last week is not the “Medicare Tax” (the name in the text released 72 hours before the vote) but rather the “Medicare Contribution.”

For the moment, a tax is defined as:

An involuntary fee paid by individuals or businesses to a government.

While a contribution is:

To give or supply in common with others; give to a common fund or for a common purpose.

So the government now is pretending you are "giving" additional money to them, voluntarily and without duress, as opposed to the legally enforceable nature of a tax. And if you choose not to play along, and to withhold your "contribution"? I think some men in dark suits would quickly appear to tell you that when they say "contribute", they really mean "put all your money in this brown paper bag"...

And wait until we learn what "volunteering" is about to mean in the Age of The One....

Ironically, of course, the raised amount of your "Medicare Contribution" has nothing to do with Medicare, or with contribution as the word is currently defined:

....it is part of legislation that substantially reduces Medicare by cutting Medicare Advantage; and the “contribution” is in a new Internal Revenue Code section whose operative language refers to it as a “tax.” Only the name of the tax was changed — to eliminate the word “Tax.”

So while the government claims you have merely increased your contribution to Medicare, the truth is they raised your Medicare taxes, with the intention of gutting Medicare, and using the money elsewhere.

Somewhere, George Orwell and Ayn Rand are sipping tea together, exchanging knowing glances and sighing deeply....

Obama Trips and Falls; Media Hides His Shame

Of course, if it were George Bush that fell, the media would have made the clumsy oaf of a neocon president the lead story, and it would be replayed in slo-mo for days on every late-nite gabfest for the amusement of talentless hacks. Instead, the media buries the story, fearing to show that Dear Leader has any human frailties whatsoever.

Maybe if Obama wasn't always playing to the camera, he wouldn't be tripping over his own feet:

Death Panels, Carbon Tax, and a VAT - The Cost of "Reform"

Oh, how they mocked Sarah Palin when she warned us the death panels were coming. And oh, how right she was. All you need to know is written in the pages of the New York Times, followed by Democrats the way a good Christian will follow the bible. We had Paul Krugman the other day crowing about how much money could be saved by denying care (his blog is called The Conscious of a Liberal, by the way, and how accurate a title that is), and now we have David Leonhardt bragging about The Power of No:

From an economic perspective, health reform will fail if we can’t sometimes push back against the try-anything instinct. The new agencies will be hounded by accusations of rationing, and Medicare’s long-term budget deficit will grow.

So figuring out how we can say no may be the single toughest and most important task facing the people who will be in charge of carrying out reform. “Being able to say no,” Dr. Alan Garber of Stanford says, “is the heart of the issue.”

It’s easy to come up with arguments for why we need to do so. Above all, we don’t have a choice. Giving hospitals and drug makers a blank check will bankrupt Medicare. Slowing the cost growth, on the other hand, will free up resources for other uses, like education.

Well, now that all of America has been turned into Medicare clients, Leonhardt dreams of denying people that one last treatment that can save their lives so that the money can be spent on additional liberal programs. Gee, I though that was why we were decimating the military strength of our nation, to pay for health care reform. Now we have to start dying at 65 to pay for it too?

No, a weakened military and a shorter lifespan is still not enough to pay for Obama's follies. To add to the misery that will be life in Barack's America, we are going to need to pay a VAT - a value added tax - on everything we buy. From one of Obama's chief economic advisers:

Acknowledging it would be a highly unpopular move, White House economic adviser Paul Volcker said yesterday the United States should consider imposing a "value added tax" similar to those charged in Europe to help get the deficit under control.

A VAT is a national sales tax that, like state and city sales taxes, would be collected by retailers.
Volcker, at the
New-York Historical Society, told a panel on the global financial crisis that Congress might also have to consider new taxes on carbon and energy.

So wait - dying early won't be enough for Barack, a weakened national security structure won't be enough for Barack, even a value-added tax won't be enough for Barack - he's going to need a "carbon tax" as well? No wonder Obama has refused to revisit his thinking about "climate change", despite it falling into disrepute all across the globe. He needs the money from selling carbon credits to pay for his social welfare programs! Wait for it to be sold to you in the guise of a "moral responsibility", and wait for the Times columnists to call you an equal to "Holocaust deniers" should you oppose. Man, if the Democrats thought people were pissed about health care reform....

Gee, why didn't some one try to warn us that health care reform would force us to pay more taxes on every single thing we touch, would reduce the quality of our health care, and force us to cull our military? Oh, wait, some people did, and Obama, the Democrats, and the media called them fear-mongers and liars who were trying to scare the American people...

Remember this: When the Democrats claim someone is "spreading fear", that usually means they are telling the truth about a liberal program. When the Democrats accuse foes of their agenda of misleading the public, it is usually because these foes are leading the public towards the truth of the liberal agenda.

A new dictionary for a new world. When you buy it, prepare to pay a VAT on it...
