SOTU: Damning Obama With Faint Praise

Bob Schieffer from CBS:

“I mean, the president’s inaugural address had sort of a partisan lecture tone about it,” Schieffer said after Obama wrapped. “This was a political speech, but it was well-written, it had a beginning, a middle and an end.”

Well...OK, then. That's a pretty low bar, but if Barack Obama is to achieve any sort of intellectual success whatsoever, that's where it's going to have to be set.

Shieffer, perhaps realizing he works for the same network that gave us Steve Kroft and his 60 Minutes propaganda special, scrambles to get back on message:

“He coined a few phrases in there, talked about the unfinished task before us, sort of reminiscent of what Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address, but all in all I thought this was a much better speech than we heard on his inauguration,” Schieffer said.

Whew! Close one. Shieffer keeps his Fawn status with his positive, albeit ludicrous, comparison of Barack Obama and the Great Emancipator.   The rest of us, of course, are lessened.....and so is Lincoln, by the wy.

All contained within a story with the least surprising headline of the year:

State of the Union reaction: Media gives Obama thumbs up
