Mitt Romney was right, of course, and while he didn't back down from the secret-camera videotape, he certainly seemed to back away from it. Word of advice, Mr. Romney: People will vote for a man who has the courage of their convictions, even if they don't necessarily agree with them. To be perceived as having neither courage nor convictions...well, that's fatal, dude.
Mitt should have stuck firmer. Recall his quotes about the London Olympics, and the assault on the Libyan embassy - both were originally construed as "gaffes", and yet in retrospect his comments were perceptive, ahead-of-the-curve, and ultimately correct analysis of fluid situations.
Much like the infamous "47%". Meet one of them - perhaps the prototypical one - who gives her reasons for voting Obama:
Don't shy away from uncomfortable truths. Own them, Mitt, and you will own the vote...
