"Mister, We Can Use A Man Like Rudy Giulani Again..."

If he had run for president this year, he may have wound up being the "conservative alternative" to Mitt Romney.  Which is not saying much, I suppose...but moreso than anyone on the trail now, Rudy Giuliani is dealing out straight talk on the current state of the nation under Obama.  This time, he gives voice to what we all feel about the "Occupiers":

As the American people look at Occupy Wall Street, what I believe that most of the American people say about Occupy Wall Street and all of its versions all over the country is: how about trying something different to help our economy instead of occupying Wall Street, and occupying Boston and occupying Oakland? How about you occupy a job. How about working? Working. Woohoo, working. I know that's tough. Woodstock is more fun, right? Woodstock is a lot more fun than working eight hours a day.

The Gothamist tries a hail-Mary swipe at Rudy, but misses badly:

Previously, Giuliani was asked by Sean Hannity how he would have dealt with the Occupy Wall Street protests if he were still mayor, and responded that nobody touches Daddy's precious sidewalks: “Well I had a rule and I enforced it as best I could and pretty effectively. The rule was: You’re not allowed to sleep on the streets...Sleeping on the streets is a dysfunctional act. It harms the person, it harms society, it leads to unsanitary conditions that affect public health.”

He added that "if you want to stay over in New York City overnight, you got to rent a room, and if you’re homeless we got plenty of shelters for you." So by shelters, we assume he is talking about jail, since one of the cornerstones of Giuliani's administration was forcing homeless out of shelters and then arresting those left sleeping on the streets.

Oh, those wacky liberals...still can't get over the fact that Rudy led the greatest crackdown on crime in the city's (any city's) history, after liberals said that it could never be done, that the problems were inherit in society (and especially within minorities), and could only be contained (never stopped) by huge influxes of taxpayer money.

I am not sure the city is a better place right now under Nanny Bloomberg, with the homeless sleeping on the E-train, wielding an overpowering stench and forcing tax-paying fare-payers to crowd into the furthest corner of an already packer car. But to the Gothamist, this - along with a third-world crime rate and an endless "occupation" - is preferable to Rudy Guilini's successes.

How do we win in 2012?  Buy not hiding behind professional political platitudes, and telling it how it is.  All the American people need right now is to know that there's a candidate who sees the world as it as right now exactly as they do.

It's ain't Obama.  But is it really Romney?

Rudy, you should have waited a few years...
