Al Gore Blames Global Warming For Today's Winter Storms

...gotta give the man credit; his faith is unshakable. Either that, or he's a desperate man terrified that his scam is unraveling. Yesterday he replied to Bill O'Reilly's question about this season's dramatically increased snowfall:

As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:

“In fact, scientists have been warning for at least two decades that global warming could make snowstorms more severe. Snow has two simple ingredients: cold and moisture. Warmer air collects moisture like a sponge until it hits a patch of cold air. When temperatures dip below freezing, a lot of moisture creates a lot of snow.”

Interesting. Easy to understand, almost simplistic. But we have been having a sh*t-ton of snow, which means there has either been more moisture in the air than usual (which would prove Gore's point), or that the air has been much colder, leading what moisture there is to turn to snow (disproving Gore's point).

Simply put, the data makes Gore's assertion laughable. See
this basic chart from NOAA, showing rainfall totals across America for the first eight months of 2010 to be...100% normal.

Here's another by state, showing the below normal/normal states to outweigh those with increased rainfall:

So there is no more moisture in the air than there has been.

The air is just colder.

Not warmer.

Sorry, Al.

But don't worry - Al adds in a caveat, to cover just about any happenstance under the heavens:

“A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species.”

At what point do even the climate change faithful shake their heads, and finally walk (or trudge through hip-deep snow) away?
UPDATE: This multiple-satellite image, taken yesterday, is what they told me - when I was a kid - the world would look like when the predicted new ice age arrived:

Map shows most of Northern Hemisphere is covered in snow and ice

The guy is a con artist. I feel fortunate that he did not become U.S. President. On the other hand, we got Bush Jr. who invaded Iraq and knocked out Iran's arch-enemy, and did not even get a thank-you note from the Ayatollah. Come on, Iran. At least show some verbal gratitude!
