Let us pray for her.
If this assassination attempt should be found to have been politically motivated, be either side, the perpetrator - apparently already in custody - should be hung from the neck until they are dead, dead, dead.
(I say "either side" as Gifford's voting record, though a Democrat, seems to be somewhere between Blue Dog and RHINO).
In America, you win the ideological battle by winning the war of ideas, NOT BY MURDER. Never.
Who would have thought, just shy of two years into Barack Obama's term, the greatest political force in the nation would be...constitutional conservatism? All ideas, even bad ones, need to get out into the public arena and discussed, debated, and even (in some cases unfortunately) implemented, so that we may see their merit - or lack of same - and decide as a nation to move forward.
Assassination is an abomination upon this nation, its ideals, and our moral values.
I will pray for Gabrielle Gifford to recover fully and continue to represent her district of Arizona.
I will also pray for justice to be served swiftly, and firmly, upon her would-be assassin....

@pinkelephantpun
Tabitha Hale
DailyKos scrubs "Gifford's now DEAD to me" post: http://is.gd/knZNE Also typical of the Left.
UPDATE II: The AP is already blaming "the Right" and Sarah Palin:
Despite the animosity she has generated from the right, Giffords describes herself as a former Republican and current Blue Dog Democrat.
Glenn Reynolds: Remember Bloomberg making a fool of himself by blaming the Times Square bombing on the Tea Party? How about waiting until we actually know something, this time? That’s likely to be soon enough...
UPDATE III: Suspect Jared Laughner's YouTube account lists his favorite books (note his use of the past tense):
Books: I had favorite books: Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Wizard Of OZ, Aesop Fables, The Odyssey, Alice Adventures Into Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, Peter Pan, To Kill A Mockingbird, We The Living, Phantom Toll Booth, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Pulp,Through The Looking Glass, The Communist Manifesto, Siddhartha, The Old Man And The Sea, Gulliver's Travels, Mein Kampf, The Republic, and Meno.
Not exactly a "teabagger"...wonder when the AP will redact and revise the above story?
