Banning Bullets: The EPA Plays Russian Roulette With America

Seems as if Barack Obama, frustrated by the limitations imposed by a constitutional democracy on his plutocratic ambitions, has found a short-cut that will allow him to bring America to heel: The Environmental Protection Agency.

By allowing them to classify carbon dioxide (yes, that's what we breathe out of our mouths every three seconds) as a "greenhouse gas", the Obama has put the EPA in complete command and control of the entirety of the American economy, and intends to use that power as a bludgeon to force a cap and trade agreement through a skittish Congress.

A Congress too skittish for Obama's ideological and tyrannical aims. He knows the dangers an armed citizenry presents to his dream of permanent one-party rule, so he needs to dis-arm them. Congress won't go there (see 1994), but Lisa Jackson and the EPA can. So:

Several environmentalist groups led by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) are petitioning the EPA to ban lead bullets and shot (as well as lead sinkers for fishing) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Although EPA is barred by statute from controlling ammunition, CBD is seeking to work farther back along the manufacturing chain and have EPA ban the use of lead in bullets and shot because non-lead alternatives are available.

But here's the catch: the alternatives to lead bullets are more expensive. A ban on the sale of lead ammunition would force hunters and sport shooters to buy non-lead ammunition that is often double the cost of traditional lead ammunition. A box of deer hunting bullets in a popular caliber could be upwards of $55.

Although the EPA could have dismissed the request due to a lack of jurisdiction, it is obliging CBD....

My understanding is that many of these non-lead bullets can be classified as "armor-piercing" and thus illegal in many jurisdictions. There's the trick: Don't ban guns, just make ammo unavailable!

And speaking of tricks, let's talk about New Jersey's former DEP head Lisa Jackson, a first-class f*ckup of the highest order. I wrote some of her follies in an oft-read post entitled
The EPA's Lisa Jackson: EnvironmentalSlut.

Check it out, there's some good stuff about how Lisa was essentially Jon Corzine's bitch (used up, he passed her on to his pal Baracky), changing environmental rules on the fly to satisfy whoever her political pimp was at the moment. But by far this is the best, and most unusual, story about the head of the EPA, and what her past says about our future:

...what is one of the first things the EPA did with Lisa Jackson at the helm? Why, she was forced to criticize the job done by...Lisa Jackson, when she ran the New Jersey DEP!

Confused? Maybe this will help:

Federal officials are criticizing how New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection operates, a report in the Record said.

An Environmental Protection Agency audit found "significant shortcomings," especially in the DEP's division that handles contaminated site cleanups. The EPA said the site remediation program lacks oversight, and the DEP takes contractors hired by polluters at their word without checking.

The report also found the agency has failed to take corrective action to fix problems uncovered in a 2005 audit.

The DEP remedies were outlined in a plan issued by Lisa Jackson, who now heads the federal agency. Jackson was DEP commissioner from 2006 to 2008.

Wow. That's a new one. Just how bad of a job did Lisa do in New Jersey?

Bill Wolfe, a former DEP analyst who now is director of the New Jersey chapter of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, says “This audit is an indictment of DEP management for failing fundamental tests of competence.”

What was that again? Lisa Jackson's department, accused of "failing fundamental tests of competence”??

A perfect fit for the Obama Administration. And a perfect storm for us, as this useful idiot attempts to bang the final nail in America's coffin so that she may use our lifeless bodies as steps to climb the political ladder...
