Is This What Bart Stupak Signed Up For?

As Barack Obama knows, there's a sucker born every minute. In November of 2008, he fleeced 66 million suckers, also known as the American people, and got himself elected president. Back on March 20th, he conned Congressman Bart Stupak into believing an executive order was all that was needed to prevent ObamaCare from allowing the government to fund abortions. Stupak signed on, the government seizure of the medical establishment was complete, and Obama and the pro-abortion crowd could barely restrain their giggling.

Wonder what Stupak thinks of the president's word today, now that Hillary Clinton was overheard in Canada lecturing their government on providing taxpayer-funded abortion as part of their "health care" plan?

Canadian and U.S. pro-life leaders are denouncing U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she weighed in Tuesday on the debate over the Canadian government's G8 maternal and child health initiative, insisting plainly that abortion is necessary for maternal health

"You cannot have maternal health without reproductive health. And reproductive health includes contraception and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion," she told reporters when asked about Canada's G8 initiative

Followed up by typical Clinton double-speak:

"I do not think governments should be involved in making these decisions. It is perfectly legitimate for people to hold their own personal views based on conscience, religion or any other basis," she said. "But I've always believed the government should not intervene in decisions of such intimacy."

Colin Mason of the U.S.-based Population Research Institute called Clinton's comments “disengenuous.” “She says that she doesn't think that governments should intervene in 'intimate decisions' like abortion, and yet she insists that the same should make a hard commitment to 'legal, safe abortion.' This is because she knows that any government that commits to providing abortion as part of healthcare, is affirming abortion as a legitimate clinical service.”

Feel like a fool yet, Stupak? This is what you - with your yea vote - has unleashed upon the world. Not only taxpayer-funded abortion in America, but an administration that, at its highest levels, feels it now has the moral standing to lecture other nations on providing government-funded abortion in the perverse name of "maternal health".

Think waving around Obama's signed executive order is going to make a difference? Bart, you were an important man in an important moment of history , and instead of standing on principle, you sold your soul - a priceless artifact - to a couple of carnival hucksters for a worthless piece of paper.
