...and thank you.
Thank you for stopping by this little roadside stand on a desolate stretch of the unimaginably massive Internet highway whether to read, to comment, or just depart in disgust. 2009 saw a huge spike in readership at Right, Wing Nut!, with each of the last three months (yes, even the dreaded traffic-free month of December...was it the Hanukkah Hotties?) setting a new height in visits. I appreciate it, and I am thankful for each and every one of you.
Some have called 2009 an "Annus horribilis"; I beg to differ. Yes, liberal totalitarianism has taken hold in America, much as many on the right had predicted, with the rise of this nation's first charismatic ideologue. But we need this battle. The arguments against liberalism were lost, defeated by a hateful opposition to George W. Bush and a mainstream media who pounded us every day with leftist propaganda.
What we have gotten, and what we have needed to see firsthand, is how destructive liberalism is in practice. Only with having experienced it, can we be sure of its corrupt and poisonous nature. And thus to save our nation, we must rise up and defeat the Left in a battle that will be virtually unprecedented in American history. We must re-invent the media, we must rise up in anger,we must take to the streets, and we must loosen our tongues against those who profit by and support the regime now in control of the United States.
And we will win this battle. And yes, it will be a costly victory, with decades in economic, scientific, and medical growth lost as we recover from the damage done by the "progressive" agenda. But it is a necessary war - the ideals of the constitution must be re-established, our prominence in international affairs must be re-asserted, and our right-of center national values must be enshrined in every action that is taken in the name of the People of the United States of America.
We live in interesting times. And although that is considered a Chinese curse, it is a blessing as well. We live to join the battle, to fight, to risk, to stand tall for our values against an opposition who would crush us under the banner of socialism. It is an opportunity for us to show what we are made of, to show that our words are more than platitudes, to show we will defend what we have so that the next generation can enjoy the spoils of our victory as well.
Let us relish this battle, and join it with hearts and heads held high. For it is a righteous one, one that will define freedom, democracy, and world peace for the remainder of the 21st century.
May God bless each and every one of you with strength, vigor, and happiness in 2010.
Happy New Year!

$50 Billion in Taxpayer Bailouts, And What Do You Get?
...besides another year older and deeper in debt, you ask?
You get a Chevy Volt video, complete with amateur dancers chanting inane slogans telling us how much we are going to love the new Government Motors ("E" for Electricity, "V" for Chevy Volt and me!") and hand-miming the mileage ("4-0!"). Note the paltry, disinterested crowd:
Pathetic. Even Kim Jung Il does it better than Obama's bitches at GM:

When The Top Ten Are All FOX...
...then Baracky, maybe you ought to admit you made a mistake by taking on the Big Dog, and biting off more than you could chew. Seems like your proto-fascist attempt to silence your critics backfired on you, just a bit, you know?
Take a look at the top-10 rated cable news shows for 2009:
1. The O'Reilly Factor - 3.34M
2. Hannity - 2.51M
3. Glenn Beck - 2.32M
4. Special Report - 2.04M
5. On The Record - 1.97M
6. The Fox Report - 1.88M
7. O'Reilly Factor (11pm Rpt) - 1.51M
8. Your World - 1.48M
9. Americas Newsroom - 1.43M
10. Studio B - 1.21M
See a pattern there? Even the Huffington Post bows:
2009 was a record year for the Fox News Channel.
The News Corp-owned cable news outlet has just finished its best year among total viewers in its 13-plus year history.
Both CNN and MSNBC, meanwhile, are down significantly in all categories.
But its not just the network's conservative opinion commentators that are having their best years ever. The network's signature news programs — "Special Report with Bret Baier," "The Fox Report with Shepard Smith," "Studio B with Shepard Smith," and "Your World with Neil Cavuto" — also had their best years ever among total viewers.
But I thought FOX was just "opinion journalism masquerading as news" and "not a news organization". Guess Obama and his lackys were wrong again, and FOX has survived the attack only to come back more powerful than ever. Defeat the force you cannot, oh weak Axlerod...
Will the Obami ever learn? Or will they stick their heads into the lion's mouth again, overcome by the irresistible desire to prove they they are the ones we have been waiting for, and not Glenn Beck? Those who work on the dark side are often clever, but not always smart...

We'll Never Know What Hit Us....
...when the next terrorist attack arrives. That's because by insisting on treating jihadis as civilian criminals rather than war prisoners, they get to sit back, smirk, and say nothing. The administration, of course, continues to "hold out hope" that airline bomber Abdulmutallab will talk, because, well....they're being really really nice to him and have promised not to rough him up and are extending an open hand and have given him a lawyer and all the rights he never enjoyed anywhere else!
Marc Thiessen over at The Corner both mocks and points out the danger to you and I in the Obama administration's childishly naive approach to terrorism:
Holding out hope? Change his mind? Are they kidding? A terrorist like Abdulmutallab is not a common criminal who should be told he has the “right to remain silent.” He is an enemy combatant, who tried to commit an act of war against the United States of America. He possesses vital intelligence about the terrorist network that deployed him to attack America, and may be planning still more attacks. The Obama administration has a responsibility to make him give up that information. Treating him like a criminal is an abdication of that responsibility, and puts our nation at risk.
Abdulmutallab likely knows a lot more than he's saying, but thanks to Barack Obama, he won't be forced to say a word. We do know already there are dozens more like him planning similar attacks; wouldn't it be nice to know that your country had exerted the, ahem, "maximum effort" in extracting that information before your family gets on a plane?
Let's be even more clear: If they knew Abdulmutallab was getting the screws put to him and was likely singing, these terrorist training camps would already have folded their tents and dispersed, at least temporarily, to escape certain Death from Above in the form of a Predator missile. Instead, the training of Islamic radicals continues without a blip, as they act with the comfort of knowing Barack Obama has imposed the American legal system to protect them...
Remember that, the next time a plane fall from the sky...

Seven Crises, Seven Golf Outings
Only a stupid conservative would be unable to grasp that Barack Obama's penchant for playing golf at a moment when leadership is usually called for is actually a genius strategy being employed by The One to calm the nation down, so that they don't get all "wee-we'ed" up about whatever little thing may be sticking in our craw....
E-Nough! provides us with the examples of Obama's leadership and cunning:
In the spring Mr. Obama picked up his clubs to avert a public health scare about swine flu.
Mr. Obama also teed off to calm us after NoKo successfully detonated a nuclear device. And having becalmed the electorate, Mr. Obama squeezed in a minute Memorial Day remembrance before resuming his swing.
And while the economy tanked this summer, there was Mr. Obama on the fairway, not for the love of the game, but to advance the "proper collective response" to his failed stimulus.
This fall Dick Cheney spooked us, accusing Team Barry of dithering on Afghanistan. Mr. Obama immediately reassured Americans, taking up his clubs to do his dithering in the tee-box. (And to further reassure us, he also headlined a series of party fundraisers.)
There. Don't you feel better now? You see, when Barack Obama gave us a perfunctory statement (read some three days after the fact) on the terror attack on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 , promising he will not rest until he "found those involved and held them accountable" then left immediately afterwards to shoot a quick 18, he was doing it for us, not for him.
Apparently, when he is relaxed, we should be relaxed. When he feels there is a sense of urgency - on health care reform, on climate change, on an economic stimulus - then boy, you'd better get all wee-we'ed up about it as well.
Silly me. And I thought he was just a lazy, thoughtless, cowardly incompetent who would not let even the worst crisis interfere with a potential par-4...

Michelle Obama: Our Own Imelda Marcos!
Sure, the First Lady of the Philippines collected some 5,400 shoes while her nation struggled in wretched poverty, but she ain't no thing compared to our Michelle Obama! Baracky's gal is amassing a collection of high-priced designer footwear while simultaneously driving her nation into wretched poverty! Green with envy, is Ms. Marcos...
We wrote back in May about Michelle's $540- sneakers that she wore to a charity benefit ("Let them eat Keds!", she sneered) and earlier this month we saw the Divine Miss Michelle custom-ordering Robert Clergerie boots to her exact size/style specifications at a cost of over $1,000 each.
And who doesn't need new shoes for going on an extended Hawaiian vacation, right? Especially when you are staying at an $8.9 million estate for an estimated $4,000- per night.
Kristinn over at Free Republic reports that First Lady Michelle was photographed last night wearing a $635 per pair designer shoes by Maison Martin Margiela. How much is that to you and I?
A woman lucky enough to have a job in this economy and working for the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour would have to work 88 hours (without taxes taken out) to make enough to pay for Michelle Obama's shoes.
Obama has lectured Americans about how they can not expect to live their lives as indulgently as they have in the past. He has lectured businesses about their travel and pay. Yet Obama and his wife live like kings and queens.
And we eat cake, if we can afford the mix. The ultimate limousine liberal married to the ultimate Welfare Queen?
Back to Imelda Marcos, although you may feel free to substitute the name Michelle in there liberally:
Why accumulate so much--2,700 pairs of shoes, 3,000 women--if there is no use for all of them? How much gold is enough? Only a sane person would think to ask....
...were the Marcos shoes... merely grotesque? The Russian word poshlost suggests the transcendent vulgarity at work in the Marcos spectacle. Poshlost is something preposterously overdone but without self-knowledge or irony. It is comic and sad and awful....
The Marcos plundering seems ultimately a cheerless affair, covert though sometimes ostentatious, avaricious though often prodigal...Such venality is not a matter of either Freud or metaphysics. It is just a brutal habit....
Next up: Barack Obama sports ruby rings and a gold-tipped cane with white diamond gloves at next press conference, while telling us we need to turn our thermostats down to 68 degrees this frigid winter....

Barack Obama: Well, It Worked For OJ Simpson!
O.J. Simpson, on the day of his acquittal on murder charges in 1995:
"When things have settled down a bit I will pursue as my primary goal in life the killer or killers who slaughtered Nicole and Mr. Goldman."
President Barack Obama, reading from a statement three days after an attempted terrorist bombing of a US airliner, as reported by Politico:
Obama vowed to track down those who were behind the terrorism plot, and said: "We will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable."
According to reports, Obama took no questions...after all, there is golf to be played....
I believe Obama is sincere. Well, at least as sincere as OJ was when he made the same statement all those years ago...
UPDATE: Wasn't joking about the golf thing:
A half-hour after President Obama vowed to catch the terrorists behind a plot to blow up a plane on Christmas, he arrived at 10:40 a.m. at the Luana Hills Country Club, where a golf course winds through a rain forest, the pool reports. The club is below inland cliffs and the towering Mt. Olomana.

John Murtha, 12/22/09: "Al-Qaeda Not a Threat"
With the nation enthralled by Janet Napolitano's "the system worked" assclownery (heckuva job, Napi!), we are missing a classic foot-in-mouth blunder by King Pork himself, John Murtha, who just days ago, said the following:
MURTHA QUESTIONS AL-QAIDA’S CLOUT
JOHNSTOWN December 22, 2009 (dailyamerican.com) - U.S. Rep. John Murtha told reporters Tuesday that he isn’t convinced al-Qaida is still a threat to national security.
Mr. Murtha: I don’t agree there is a threat to national security.
72 hours later, Murtha was proven the fool as only a poor detonator and a heroic passenger saved a Northwest jet from being vaporized by an al-Qaeda operative. No threat to national security, huh?
ABC News reports:
American officials have cause to worry there may be more al Qaeda-trained young men in Yemen planning to bring down American jets. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab told FBI agents there are more just like him in Yemen. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were more just like him in Yemen who would strike soon.
But they're not a threat, right, Mr. Murtha?
And one wonders if Jan-Nap was aware of the information above when she made the statement below:
Janet Napolitano, the Homeland Security secretary, said on Sunday that there was so far no evidence of a wider terrorist plot in what federal authorities said was an attempt by a 23-year-old Nigerian man to blow up a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight on Christmas Day.
Was she lying to us, or just clueless? Either one is unforgivable from the head of DHS....
And the President of the United States? He's to busy to worry about average Joes being blown to bits by foreign terrorists, don't you know....he's got golfing to do! Shhh....he's concentrating really hard....

Max Baucus: Drunk on the Senate floor
If you've spent enough time in bars, especially what is sometimes termed as "old man bars" - small, smokey, dingy, dark, charmless holes-in-the-ground off some godforsaken highway - you'll know exactly what Senator Max Baucus was doing before he hit the Senate floor in this bizarre video:
All that's missing is Senator Baucus tossing the empty bottle of Old Grand-Dad at the head of Senator Wicker, and we would have drunken perfection....
Politico seems to feel this is just a "conservative" firestorm, and is awaiting comment from Baucus's office on the video. Expect to hear about flu medications and long nights saving health care for the American people as an excuse for the drunken buffoonery of Baucus. If that doesn't work, we'll hear claims of "right-wing video alteration", or something equally stupid that will fool no one except the few remaining True Believers...
But I guess a lot of things make sense now, especially that clusterf*ck of a health care reform bill, which smelled of cheap whiskey from day one...

New Jersey Democrat: "Jersey Shore" Is a Hate Crime!
Well, while they're busy with this nonsense at least they won't be raising my taxes:
Irked about MTV's glorification of the moronic behavior of a certain batch of brains-challenged beachgoers, the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus led by state Sen. Joseph F. Vitale is demanding the cable net cancel the show....
"The intentional and encouraged use of ethnically derogatory terms to promote a television program with an Italian American cast is unconscionable," writes Vitale.
"Pejorative words including 'guido' and 'guidette' should have been discouraged by network management. In fact, their very use is a breach of Viacom's Global Business Practices Statement requiring a harassment-free workplace environment, standards every Viacom employee is expected to meet."
Ah, leave it to a New Jersey Democrat to declare that a MTV reality show is a hate crime. Or then again, isn't anybody these days who's opposed to a Democratic initiative, whether on a local or national level, a "teabagger", a "racist", or an "extremist"?
The Asbury Park-Press mocks Vitale, and rightfully so:
Good luck with that, senator. High dudgeon may play well for some people, but this kind of attack only fuels voyeuristic rubberneckers to check out the latest MTV equivalent of a car wreck.
...This too shall pass. The shelf life for pop-culture bozos is exceedingly short. By the time you organize a boycott and rally the offended, these dopes will have used up their 15 minutes of marginal fame.
One of the only things worse than televising puerile, reality-show rubbish is using the full force of government to try and censor it.
Someone ought to clip that last part, and send it to Barack Obama....

A Reward In Itself
In light of Jasper Schuringa's heroism on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas day, I thought this story was somehow relevant...
Yesterday's Asbury Park Press talks about how much reward money offered is actually collected when a "civilian" bags a bad guy:
Crime doesn't pay, and in New Jersey, tipsters often don't collect.
Officials say many of the good Samaritans who turn in thieves, rapists and killers often turned down the reward money.
In Union County, many tipsters didn't accept the money when tips on unsolved crimes paid out between $100-$500. But Union County Crimestopper chairman Ronald Posyton says that when the reward was raised to $1,000, nearly everyone took the money.
Now $1K is nice money, and Union is a fairly lower-middle class to poor city, so that $1K means a lot. So go ahead, take it. But it's not necessarily the norm:
In Morris County, where rewards are up to $1,000, nine of 10 times they go unclaimed.
Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura says although rewards there are up to $5,000 for a murder and $10,000 for tips on the killing of a police officer, less than 20 percent of callers take the cash.
Fontoura says tipsters are usually just interested in doing the right thing.
But Americans always are; perhaps never embodied better than the heroes of United Flight #93. But there are plenty of day-to-day heroes as well, that help keep their neighborhoods safe and hunt down criminals in their own way, while never thinking about taking any money for doing what is simply right.
It's a little thing that bothers liberals, incidentally. How can they say we need to be protected from our countrymen and cared for by the state from cradle to grave, when all of the available evidence proves we are more than capable of taking care of ourselves?
The same liberals are the ones who always tell us to leave things to "the proper authorities", or to do nothing, and call the police (whatever you do, don't arm yourself - it's dangerous, you may hurt someone!).
In other words...leave it to them. 'Cause they hate being shown up by the likes of Jasper Schuringa (a Dutchman, incidentally), and the average citizen like you and me. Because if the elites are really not that elite after all, why...that whole liberal belief system can come crashing right down....

A Violation of Geneva !
I mean, really now! With President Hope & Change running the ship, we're obeying the letter of the Geneva Conventions to the "T"! We're outlawed "torture" and are contemplating prosecuting our own soldiers who are accused of it, we are emptying Guantanamo detainees into an Illinois prison, we are giving the loathsome KSM a civilian trial in the city he tried to destroy, and we are even retuning some terrorist prisoners straight to Yemen, where they can pick up guns and start killing Americans with no further delay!
And the result of all this terrorist ass-kissing was supposed to be a softening up of their position, a willingness to abide by Geneva, and eventually peace on earth, all shepherded in by The One! So what is this?
The Taliban released a video Friday showing a U.S. soldier who was captured more than five months ago in eastern Afghanistan.
"This is a horrible act which exploits a young soldier, who was clearly compelled to read a prepared statement," said a statement from U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Gregory Smith, spokesman for the NATO-led international force in Afghanistan that confirmed the man in the video is Bergdahl. "To release this video on Christmas Day is an affront to the deeply concerned family and friends of Bowe Bergdahl, demonstrating contempt for religious traditions and the teachings of Islam."
Here it comes....
The Geneva Conventions, which regulate the conduct of war between regular armies, bar the use of detainees for propaganda purposes and prohibit signatories from putting captured military personnel on display. As an insurgent organization, the Taliban are not party to the treaty.
And yet we insist on abiding by it while our enemies use this weakness against us, and continue to press the attack inside our borders:
A Northwest Airlines passenger from Nigeria who said he was acting on al-Qaeda's instructions set off an explosive device Friday in a failed terrorist attack on the plane as it was preparing to land in Detroit, federal officials said.
Over at Skating on Stilts, a legitimate question is asked:
One passenger is said to have helped thwart the attack by climbing over several less active passengers to grapple with the terrorist, apparently suffering burns to his hands in the process. How long will it take Secretary Napolitano (at least) or President Obama (my preference) to visit this guy in the hospital if these facts turn out to be true?
My question: How long will it take for Obama to apologize to the Nigerian terrorist, and for Holder to prosecute the passenger? And will Obama reconsider his foreign policy tenets based on their myriad failures (Iran, the "peace process", Europe, Copenhagen, etc...)?
Unlikely, as we are dealing not with the pragmatic realist were were promised, but a committed anti-American ideologue instead. Expect more conciliatory moves and self-abasement, accompanied by a growing threat to our national security that will be waved off by the Obami as insignificant or the fault of George W. Bush.
Remember, we really have only one thing to fear: Failure to obey the Geneva Conventions....

A Hearty "Merry Christmas!", From Your Resident Jew
{this is a reprint of my Christmas Day post from last year; I still like it, it's still relevant, and I can't think of anything better to say. I did add a twist ending, though, just to change things up a bit. So enjoy!}
I like Christmas. A lot.
I grew up in an Italian-Catholic neighborhood, and celebrated Christmas with the families of my friends since I was a little kid. Not "celebrated" in the sense of going to church - it's not my place - but I was always invited over to a friends house to eat, drink, and occasionally exchange a gift. I think Christmas trees are beautiful, I like Christmas specials on TV, and I enjoy getting into the spirit of the season.
So it annoys the hell out of me when I hear people getting offended when they are wished a "Merry Christmas" by someone who good-naturedly assumes they celebrate. The intent of the greeting is good wishes on a special day; even if you do not worship the deity involved, the wish of a "merry" is a positive one; what the hell does it cost to smile, say "Thank you", and return the greeting?
Sometimes people will start to wish me a Merry Christmas, then stutter and stammer a bit when they remember I'm Jewish. It usually goes like this:
"Hey, Jerseynut - Merry...oh, wait, I forgot..how do you pronounce it again....?"
Me: "it's OK - you can wish me a Merry Christmas!
"But you don't celebrate it - I'm sorry, happy...is it still...Hanukkah?"
Me: "Yes, but it's OK. A Merry Christmas to you too ! "
"Can you say that?"
I'll speak for myself: I'll take any good wishes I can get, whether I celebrate them or not. I understand this is predominately a Christian nation, and as a Jew, I thank God that I live here, perhaps the most hospitable nation for a Jew since our beginnings. After thousands of years of being persecuted, tormented, executed...is this the best we can do? Complain about Christmas greetings and Christmas trees on public property? To my people I say - get a grip. Thank God for your good luck. And of course, Merry Christmas!
I'll end with an excerpt (that checked out OK on Snopes) from a viral email that I received with a holiday message from fellow tribe member Ben Stein:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat....
UPDATE 12/25/09 11:05 AM:
So I go out this morning to the local Qwiki-Mart, which I knew would be open today. I walk into the store, only to see my friend Amit, our Hindu owner and proprietor, working solo. "Oh, Merry Christmas, good sir!" he bellows out to me as I cross the threshold. "And a Merry Christmas to you, my humble shopkeeper!" I cry back to him. We both look at each other, and burst out laughing. We get the joke, while others would accuse us of a hate crime...

The Yule Log !
As a kid, having not a fireplace, I would turn on the Yule Log on WPIX in New York, just to hear the fire crackling, listen to the carols, and feel as if I was in a real "holiday household".
Well, I'm kind of a grown-up now, and where ever I have moved, I have insisted on having a fireplace, wood preferably, gas if necessary (and although it doesn't come close to the feel of a genuine poppin' fire, but sometimes you just have to make do with what ya got). But for those of you who don't have the luxury, the JerseyNut presents...the Yule Log! No carols on this clip, just the roar of the fire, but maybe that's best - back it up with your own mix, or something streaming:
Merry Christmas...!

Nuts To You, Jimmy!
So after years of railing against Israel, "Zionists", and Jews (both American and international), Jimmy Dhimmi Carter has decided, well, maybe he was a little too rough on those Jew bastards:
Carter Apologizes for ‘Stigmatizing Israel’
WASHINGTON — Former US President Jimmy Carter on Monday asked for the Jewish community’s forgiveness for any negative stigma he may have caused Israel over the years.
Carter....enraged the American Jewish community’s in the past with various statements made in his book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.” In the book, Carter blamed Israel for impeding the Middle East peace process via settlement construction, further claiming such a policy will lead to apartheid. The former president also accused Israel of interfering with US efforts to broker peace in the region.
“We must recognize Israel’s achievements under difficult circumstances, even as we strive in a positive way to help Israel continue to improve its relations with its Arab populations, but we must not permit criticisms for improvement to stigmatize Israel."
A honest change of heart from an old man looking to repent before Christmas, looking not to die with a large portion of his nation having branded him as an anti-Semite?
Or an opportunist, looking out to help his grandson succeed in the world of politics? A-ha!
Jimmy Carter is asking the Jewish community for forgiveness -- and insists it’s not simply because his grandson has decided to launch a political career with a run for the Georgia state Senate.
Jason Carter, 34, an Atlanta-area lawyer, is considering a run to fill a seat covering suburban DeKalb County should the incumbent, David Adelman, win confirmation as President Obama's designated ambassador to Singapore.
The seat, which is university heavy -- Emory, among others, is situated there -- also has a substantial Jewish community.
Carter response to the accusation he is cruelly manipulating the Jewish people in order to erase any stigma of anti-semitism from his brethren? An interesting one:
Carter insisted that ethnic electoral considerations were not reason enough to reach out to the Jewish community, although he did not outright deny that it was a factor.
"Jason has a district, the number of Jewish voters in it is only 2 percent," he said, chuckling.
Coincidentally, of course - and with a "chuckle"- Carter knew exactly what the percentage of Jews is in his grandson's potential district.
Who's dumb enough to believe this is a sincere change of heart, and not connected to the political fortunes of the Carter clan? Why, Abe Foxman, director of the Anti-Defamation League !
"When a former president reaches out to the Jewish community and asks for forgiveness, it's incumbent of us to accept it," he said in a telephone interview from Jerusalem.
Well, Abe, you can sell it in the schmatta market. It is not incumbent of me to accept an apology from a man who has used his position as one of the most powerful people in the world to degenerate Israel and American Jews, and who has put both of them at risk by claiming the nation was a threat to peace, and the people were a threat to America. His words were taken by haters across the world and used as ammunition against the Jews and Israel - in universities, in the media, by hostile governments, and in the street. And now it is incumbent of me as a Jew to immediately fall prostrate before this hateful old man and gratefully accept his apology? I don't think so, Abe. You may be a sucker, and I may have been born at night, but not last night, pal.
A half-hearted apology on the eve of a grandson's House race is meaningless. Let's see some actual acts of contrition first to see if there is any heart and effort behind the words.
In the meantime, Dhimmi Jimmi - nuts to you and your apology. Sell it at the suk to the Arabs...

EU to force UK to allow jailed felons to vote
As Barack Obama is slowly easing the United States Constitution to a subservient place underneath international organizations hostile to us, it is useful to see what is happening to other Western nations who hand over their sovereignty to various multinational committees, tribunals, intergovernmental bodies, etc.
Let's start with the UK, where the decay of Western values and civilization is proceeding at a more rapid pace then believed possible (the Nazis should have been this lucky). With elections coming up, the EU has stepped in and imposed its own guidelines upon the Brits...via Gates of Vienna:
EU 'threat' to election
The EU could rule next year's General Election ILLEGAL if prisoners are denied the right to vote.
Britain has dithered since the European Court of Human Rights said in 2005 that its 63,000 jailbirds must get postal votes.
Now the European Council of Ministers wants Britain to comply. "The whole election could be declared illegal,"warned ex-chief prisons inspector Lord Ramsbotham.
Legal challenges from prisoners could also see the poll declared void.
Betcha Baracky and the Dems would love to see this type of oversight/ruling take place in the People's Republic of America. They'd be no chance of voter fraud within the prison population, right? And if you need a few thousand extra votes to win a seat/state, why, just toss a bagful of pardons into the air and you're all set!
First the ICC, next the ECHR...how many masters will we be serving once 2012 rolls around?

Senator Gilli-brand: A Fish In A Barrel
Even the blind can see...that New York is going to get screwed royally by Obama's health care reform, as both governor David Paterson and New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg are howling that it will effectively bankrupt the state:
Gov. Paterson Monday declared that New York is being "punished" by the national health care bill expected to be voted on by Christmas.
New York stands to lose between $1.1 billion to $1.25 billion a year if the bill is adopted unchanged, Paterson told Buffalo's WBEN-AM radio.
So where is Paterson's hand-picked successor to Hillary Clinton, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand? Hiding from the media, and the people she is supposed to represent. The New York Post rips her a well-deserved new one:
But when The Post's Charles Hurt asked Gillibrand to reconcile her enthusiasm for the plan with their deep concerns, she ducked.
First, she promised to explain personally, in an interview.
Then, hours later, a press aide spoke for her: "The Senate health-care bill is good for New York [because it would] provide health insurance to 2.7 million residents who do not currently have it."
...from Day One, she's been taking all her cues from New York's senior senator, Chuck Schumer -- and he's in the tank for ObamaCare, too.
New York is on its own.
And when her Republican opponent shows up for the 2010 election, all he/she will have to do is remind the voters - over and over - how she forced state taxes to rise and services to diminish, all in the name of ruining their health care.
Yeah, I know this is Blue York. But see Corzine, Jon and Blue Jersey....
Poor Gilli...she's going to run out of places to hide, sooner rather than later, and when that election comes up...it'll be like shooting fish in a barrel....

Obama Signs Away American Sovereignty to INTERPOL
Barack Obama is much, much more radical and much more dangerous to this nation than this blogger ever imagined. Under the cover of the health-care "debate" in which his leftist party loots the national treasury in perpetuity, he's ceding American sovereignty to INTERPOL, and doing it with glee as he undoes the work of Ronald Reagan:
For Immediate Release December 17, 2009
Executive Order -- Amending Executive Order 12425
EXECUTIVE ORDER- - - - - - -AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER 12425 DESIGNATING INTERPOL AS A PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION ENTITLED TO ENJOY CERTAIN PRIVILEGES, EXEMPTIONS, AND IMMUNITIES
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (22 U.S.C. 288), and in order to extend the appropriate privileges, exemptions, and immunities to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), it is hereby ordered that Executive Order 12425 of June 16, 1983, as amended, is further amended by deleting from the first sentence the words "except those provided by Section 2©, Section 3, Section 4, Section 5, and Section 6 of that Act" and the semicolon that immediately precedes them.
-BARACK OBAMA
What does all of this mean?
Section 2c of the United States International Organizations Immunities Act is the crucial piece:
"Property and assets of international organizations, wherever located and by whomsoever held, shall be immune from search, unless such immunity be expressly waived, and from confiscation. The archives of international organizations shall be inviolable."
Inviolable archives means INTERPOL records are beyond US citizens' Freedom of Information Act requests and from American legal or investigative discovery ("unless such immunity be expressly waived.")
Property and assets being immune from search and confiscation means precisely that. Wherever they may be in the United States. This could conceivably include human assets - Americans arrested on our soil by INTERPOL officers.
With INTERPOL providing a significant enforcement function for the ICC, this seems like an obvious precursor to American subservience to the International Criminal Court, something the people of this nation are strongly opposed to. Furthermore, would this not be a great way for Obama to satisfy the Left, by having key political enemies, past and present (can we say Dick Cheney? Donald Rumsfeld? CIA agents?) taken away by INTERPOL, unhindered now under law as signed by Barack Obama, to be tried overseas by the ICC
It is reasons like these that President Bush refused to go along with the anti-American ICC. And it is for reason just like these that President Obama is eagerly agreeing (under cover of darkness) to go along with the ICC.
We are being undone, and with the media firmly in the president's hip pocket and refusing to squeak, there seems to be little anyone can do to stop it...

One Seat Closer To Home
The first of what will likely be multiple defections to the Republican party occurred today, as former Democrat Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman from Alabama, announces he will switch parties.
While cynics may point to it as a job-saving move (his own), in fact Griffith's district has elected a Democrat for the last...well, forever. And there's one more little uncomfortable fact for the Dems in there:
Griffith, who captured the seat in a close 2008 open seat contest, will become the first Republican to hold the historically Democratic, Huntsville-based district. A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.
Having a doctor desert your party while on the cusp of health-care "reform" will reverberate with the voters far more than any speechifying from Nancy or Harry, or even Baracky, who Americans seem to have tuned out completely.
And while many will compare his Griffith's switch with that of Senator Arlen Specter, one can honestly say that Griffith's seems to come from a more ideological basis (as a doctor in a Democratic district) than Specter (a politician who thought he needed to change parties, and turn America into a one-party system, in order to survive what he saw as a "blue rush" in Pennsylvania. Looks like he was wrong - about how deep blue Penn would go, and about his own survival).
And although the media will downplay this Republican pickup as much as they overplayed Specter's defection and Hoffman's loss ("no room for moderates, blah,blah,blah...") and as much as they underplayed the Republican showing in Blue Jersey and Purple Virginia ("all politics are local, blah,blah,blah.."), it is actually very, very meaningful.
Because it's the first of many. Because it's a step back to sanity. Because it's one less seat the Republicans will need to win in order to retake the House.
All things that the media does not what you to know, or believe. But believe this: It is just the beginning...

Is Fascism the New Socialism?
At this, the end of the year, as people take stock of what is and what will be. And they don't seem to like either; and maybe it's the calender getting ready to roll and/or maybe it's the absolutely insane abortion of a health care bill, but some serious anger is bubbling over. And while Sarah Palin was mocked for calling Obama a socialist a little over a year ago, that's now common knowledge; the question is, just how socialist is he?
Michael Goodwin at the NY Post doesn't use the "S" word or the "F" word, but his phrases make clear where he feels we stand:
Dreading our future
I am afraid -- actually, certain -- we are losing the heart and soul that made America unique in human history. Yes, we have enemies, but the greatest danger comes from within.
Watching the freak show in Copenhagen last week, I was alternately furious and filled with dread. The world has gone absolutely bonkers and lunatics are in charge.
Even more frightening, our own leaders joined the circus. Marching to the beat of international drummers, they uncoupled themselves from the will of the people they were elected to serve.
President Obama, for whom I voted because I believed he was the best choice available, is a profound disappointment. I now regard his campaign as a sly bait-and-switch operation, promising one thing and delivering another. Shame on me.
Equally surprising, he has become an insufferable bore. The grace notes and charm have vanished, with peevishness and petty spite his default emotions. His rhetorical gifts now serve his loathsome habit of fear-mongering.
"Time is running out," he says, over and again. He said it on health care, on the stimulus, in Copenhagen, on Iran.
Instead of provoking thought and inspiring ideas, the man hailed for his Ivy League nuance insists we stop thinking and do what he says. Now.
His assertion we will go bankrupt unless Congress immediately adopts the health monstrosity marks a new low. At least it did until he barged into a meeting in Copenhagen to insult the Chinese with the same do-it-now arrogance on carbon emissions.
Over at Protein Wisdom, Darleen Click has a few words for Mr. Goodwin:
Thank you to the 52(%) of Nov. 2008. You voted for a “good man”, you got a taller, thinner Hugo Chavez.
Darleen says straight what Goodwin tries hard to avoid - that we are under a one-party system that is acting no different than any other fascist state, right up to a laughingstock of a chief executive who governs with threats and lies.
Goodwin is MSM, and likely does not wish to be mocked by using the "fascist" phraseology. But sometimes you need to call a thing what it is; Sarah Palin did, and she was right, and she is certainly more respected than the media who mocked her (or Al Gore, who the media adores).
As Aristotle said, and as Ayn Rand made famous: A is A:
In Aristotle’s words, "A is A". It means that a thing is itself and no other thing. It means that a thing has a specific nature and no other nature. It means simply that there are no contradictions in reality.
Barack Obama and the Democrats, with the help of the media, are trying to turn this on its head: A trillion dollars in spending cuts the deficit, cold winters are proof of global warming, we abhor government control, except when we take over banks, GM, and the medical profession, and finally - America is still a Democracy.
Don't believe it. A is A. Fascism is Fascism, Socialism is Socialism, and we are living under it.
So say it.

Mix Climate Change and Eco-Travel...
...and you get clusterf*cks like this one:
LONDON (AP) - The only passenger rail link between Britain and the rest of Europe has been shut down indefinitely, Eurostar said Sunday, promising more travel misery for thousands of stranded passengers just before Christmas.
Services have been suspended since late Friday, when a series of glitches stranded five trains inside the Channel Tunnel and trapped more than 2,000 passengers for hours in stuffy and claustrophobic conditions.
Some panicked passengers stayed underground for more than 15 hours without food or water, or any clear idea of what was going on - prompting outrage from travelers and a promise from Eurostar that no passenger train would enter the tunnel until the issue had been identified and fixed.
Eurostar runs services between England, France and Belgium. The company said Sunday it had traced the problem to "acute weather conditions in northern France," which has seen its worst winter weather in years.
So a little snap of cold weather forced a collapse of Europe's vaunted transcontinental, eco-friendly rail link?
Interesting - if all the climate change clowns are wrong, we may be wasting billions of dollars creating infrastructure that is prone to critical breakdowns if the Earth just acts...like herself.
Remember - a four wheel drive vehicle will get you almost anywhere you need to go, in any weather. Of course, most of them are not too "green", but beats freezing to death when your Prius gets stuck in a snowbank....
Someone tell the Europeans. And the environmentalists. And the media. And the Democrats...

Union Rules vs. Life, and Death...
....the rules win, and people die. Two here, if you count the baby:
... two EMTs were buying bagels in the Au Bon Pain at the Metrotech Center in Downtown Brooklyn on Dec. 9 when [pregnant mom Eutisha Revee]Rennix collapsed there -- and they allegedly ignored her.
It's disgusting," Cynthia Rennix said.
"We've heard nothing from the city. No one has called to apologize or explain. Her [3-year-old] son, Jahleel, senses what is going on . . . He keeps asking, 'Where's Mommy?' "
Witnesses have said the two EMTs -- trained medics working as dispatchers at FDNY headquarters at Metrotech -- were more interested in getting to their breakfast than helping the dying woman amid the panicked screams of her fellow workers.
Their cold advice: "Call 911," the witnesses said.
They then allegedly left the cafe before help arrived.
...She was rushed to LICH and declared dead at 10:17 a.m. Her baby girl was delivered and died 2 hours and 10 minutes later.
Point? One of the things the Democrats love about socializing medicine is the opportunity to force all medical facilities and operations that take government money (which will be all of them, under Obamacare) to only hire unionized employees. It'll raise costs and dilute service, but improving health care has never been what this bill has been about. It's about power and control; and with more unions within the medical professions, the Democrats will have more ability to exercise their will, and have the votes to support it.
Of course, many more of us will suffer and die needlessly like poor Miss Rennix and her baby girl, who enjoyed only two hours on earth before passing back to the great beyond. But hey - it's a small price to pay so that the Democrats can stay in power and the union EMTs don't have to subvert work rules, right?
Just ask Baby Rennix, at her grave site...

Well, Coups Are "Historic", I Guess...
The AP screeches, like a blown propaganda megaphone perched on a telephone pole, circa fascist Europe of the '30's:
The White House and its Senate allies defended a final push for historic health care legislation Sunday as outflanked Republicans pledged a fight to the end. A dead-of-night vote neared in a frenzy one GOP lawmaker said lacked "legislative sanity."
...The next [vote] is set for 1 a.m. Monday...as the Senate bill moved toward passage on Christmas Eve.
So a bill is in place that allows Congress to take control of 1/6th of the economy, with key votes to be taken at "transparent time periods" such as weekdays post-midnight, and Christmas Eve, the holiest night of the year for American Christians.
A bill, that in the most recent poll taken by CNN, showed 61% of Americans were opposed to.
What will it take, I wonder, for the AP to describe a current event these days as "controversial"? After all, almost everything George Bush did was tagged with that label; even when "his" wars had 70% approval, with votes taken in broad daylight, they were considered "controversial".
But an unprecedented midnight/Christmas Eve power grab of a huge segment of the private sector, as well as control over people's lives, is "historic".
Interesting. Well, I promise to use that very same phrase when the inevitable day comes that the AP, and its dead-tree brethren, are thankfully driven out of business...

Summing Up Copenhagen
A few different takes:
Copenhagen never was about global warming. Global warming isn't even about global warming. They both are all about control and money. Your money. Their control
-Mark Landsbaum, OC Register
I don't know about you, but this is about the best news I could have heard out of Copenhagen:
Kate Horner, Friends of the Earth: "This toothless declaration, being spun by the US as an historic success, reflects contempt for the multilateral process and we expect more from our Nobel prize winning president."
Heckuva job there, Baracky. And gee, is that Nobel Prize you were so eager to accept already a millstone around your neck? What a surprise...
Blue Crab Boulevard talks about losing our freedom of movement (the old Soviets must be turning in their grave; they built a wall for nothing!):
Obama got his piece of paper to wave. The American press will fawn appropriately. Or rather, inappropriately for actual journalists. Which they by and large ceased being some time ago.
Anyone with half a brain could see the naked greed and politics of envy on full display in Copenhagen. From the globe-trotting jet-setters to the useful idiots lobbying to become serfs in the new world medieval order. For only a few clown prices will be able to enjoy the AGW true believer lifestyle. The rest will be bound to their place of birth by carbon chains.
Some will still travel in the New Order, however:
The Prince of Wales, a man who has never drawn his own curtains, ramps up a carbon footprint of 2,601 tons while telling us that western capitalist excess is destroying the planet. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the railroad engineer who heads the International Panel on Climate Change and has demanded that "hefty aviation taxes should be introduced to deter people from flying," flew 443,226 miles on "IPCC business" in the year and a half before the Copenhagen summit. And Al Gore is a carbon billionaire: He makes more money buying offsets from himself than his dad did from investing in Occidental Petroleum....
But it won't just be the princes who will get rich off of your money...the dark side gets paid in full as well, in what the Toronto Sun calls "Mass insanity in Copenhagen":
This is a farcical way to deal with what these leaders claim is an existential threat to mankind. Whatever they've agreed to has nothing to do with cooling our planet.
It has everything to do with some of the world's most corrupt dictators and regimes extorting billions upon billions of dollars from the developed world -- us -- which they will then spend not on reducing their own greenhouse gas emissions , but in any way they please.
Never mind that the European cap-and-trade market in carbon dioxide emissions spawned by the Kyoto accord and financed by carbon credits, is riddled with profiteering, fraud, corruption and has been infiltrated by organized crime, which has already stolen billions of dollars.
Never mind that cap-and-trade -- soon to go global -- has done nothing for the environment, while driving up the cost of energy for consumers and funneling billions in undeserved profits to hedge funds, speculators and energy companies...
And here come those billions, as well as our own cap and trade legislation:
Washington backed a plan to raise $100 billion in aid for poor nations from 2020.
The deal sets an end-January 2010 deadline for all nations to submit plans for curbs on emissions to the United Nations...
Can Congress push this through after the abomination that is health care reform? Maybe, if they can find a place to hide from the pitchforks, torches, tar and feathers...

The 8th Night of Hanukkah, Brought To You By The Girls of the IDF
They'll kill you with a smile, or just...kill you. But a society where every young girl spends two years serving their country with a huge automatic weapon is a society that will never go down without a fight, no matter how much Barack Obama pleads with them to do so.
No Israeli supermodels, or actresses, or entertainers on the last night of Hanukkah.....Instead, I present your everyday Israeli female, beautifully attired in standard military fatigues, and all of them armed to the motherlovin' teeth:
.
May God bless you, and keep you.
Happy Hanukkah.

.
No darling, we salute you, for the work you have done in keeping the only true democracy in the godforsaken Middle East safe, and for allowing Jews worldwide to have a place, should they ever have the need, to call home. The 8th night of Hanukkah is all about you. We honor and thank you for your service in the name of freedom, and we admire you for still looking stunningly, achingly beautiful while doing it.
May God bless you, and keep you.
Happy Hanukkah.
Thank God They Don't Have Nuclear Weapons!
Because imagine the mischief they would cause if they did...
Iranian forces took control of a southern Iraqi oil well on a disputed section of the border on Friday, US and Iraqi officials told AFP.
"There has been no violence related to this incident and we trust this will be resolved through peaceful diplomacy between the governments of Iraq and Iran," a US military spokesman told AFP at Contingency Operating Base Adder, just outside the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah.
"The oil field is in disputed territory in between Iranian and Iraqi border forts," he said, adding that such incidents occur quite frequently.
Nice Obamaesque response there, Mr. Spokesman. Did you leave your balls on the plane, or is that just the president speaking through you?
An official of the state-owned South Oil Co in the southeastern city of Amara, and west of the field, said: "An Iranian force arrived at the field early this morning (Friday).
"It took control of Well 4 and raised the Iranian flag even though the well lies in Iraqi territory," the official added.
....the Iraqis are "very concerned about the Iranians pulling oil out of fields underneath Iraq."
Iran has prevented Iraqi oil officials from reaching the well in the past, an industry source said.
The Iraqis have accused Iran of firing on their people, something Tehran has denied.
While Obama is in Copenhagen, fighting phantoms, a real enemy moves on us, testing our mettle, probing our response, all the while building a weapon darker and more evil than anything unleashed in half a century.
We will suffer, and history will judge...

Barack Obama: Suicide Bomber
...as he commits to the economic destruction of America based on his warped worship of the theology of "global warming". You can question God, but you can't question Barack Obama or the tenets of the Church of Climate Change...from his remarks at Copenhagen:
We come together here in Copenhagen because climate change poses a grave and growing danger to our people. You would not be here unless you – like me – were convinced that this danger is real. This is not fiction, this is science. Unchecked, climate change will pose unacceptable risks to our security, our economies, and our planet. That much we know.
As the world’s largest economy and the world’s second largest emitter, America bears our share of responsibility in addressing climate change, and we intend to meet that responsibility.
We are convinced that changing the way that we produce and use energy is essential to America’s economic future – that it will create millions of new jobs, power new industry, keep us competitive, and spark new innovation.
So America is going to continue on this course of action no matter what happens in Copenhagen. But we will all be stronger and safer and more secure if we act together. That is why it is in our mutual interest to achieve a global accord in which we agree to take certain steps, and to hold each other accountable for our commitments.
....we must have financing that helps developing countries adapt, particularly the least-developed and most vulnerable to climate change. America will be a part of fast-start funding that will ramp up to $10 billion in 2012.
There is no time to waste. America has made our choice. We have charted our course, we have made our commitments, and we will do what we say. Now, I believe that it’s time for the nations and people of the world to come together behind a common purpose.
We thought we elected a moderate, postmodern, bipartisan president. The cloak has been thrown off; we are in fact ruled by a far-left "Green", who spouts every liberal trope in the book, and who demands the world come together (behind him!) and march under his banner; to prove his worth he will commit the ultimate act of liberal self-loathing: He will sacrifice the very people who made him king.
Noble. But insane. (and repetitive).
We're f*cked....
