Mark Steyn talks about why nationalizing health care is so vital to the future plans of Barack Obama:
....health care is the fastest way to a permanent left-of-center political culture. That’s its attraction for an ambitious president: It redefines the relationship between the citizen and the state in a way that hands all the advantages to statists — to those who believe government has a legitimate right to regulate human affairs in every particular.
And you know Obama and the nanny-statists believe this with all their hearts. They've already decreed the type of cars we must drive, and how much energy we can and can't use; next up is how much we weigh, and what medications we get from the doctor (if they feel we need to see one at all; perhaps someone behind you on line is "disadvantaged"). Not to mention the constant demand that more and more of our monies must be relinquished to them, as they knwo best how our earnings must be spent.
Ayn Rand saw this coming, and spoke out about it years ago:
We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.
From free men to subjects, under the benign totalitarianism of Obama and the Democrats. Ayn sees nationalized medicine as the Trojan Horse that it truly is; the question is, will the rest of America be able to figure out what the flim-flam man has up his sleeve before it's too late?
No wonder Democratic legislators laugh when asked if they've read the trillion-dollar health care bill. It's not the bill that's important, it's what the bill's passage will allow them to do next that matters...
