Obama on Iran, Iran on Iran, Palestinians on Obama

And out of all of this, the American president comes out looking the most clueless of all.

Barack Obama, being asked about Iran yesterday while being interviewed on Arabic network Al-Arabiya (via Gateway Pundit):

I do think that it is important for us to be willing to talk to Iran, to express very clearly where our differences are, but where there are potential avenues for progress. And we will over the next several months be laying out our general framework and approach.

And here is Iran talking to us, and to the world, and telling us exactly where they stand:

Iran's government spokesman on Tuesday branded the Holocaust a "big lie" created to place the Islamic republic's arch-foe Israel in the Middle East, the state IRNA news agency reported.

"The Holocaust is a concept coming from a big lie in order to settle a rootless regime in the heart of the Islamic world," Gholam Hossein Elham told a conference on Gaza in central Iran's religious city of Qom.

Iran does not recognise Israel, and since his election in 2005 President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has attracted international condemnation by repeatedly predicting that the Jewish state is doomed to disappear.
In late 2005 Ahmadinejad branded the Holocaust a "myth." His comment was followed by a conference in Tehran in 2006 that brought together Holocaust deniers and revisionists.

So Barack - is this "where are differences are", to use your phrase ? Or can we just agree to disagree whether there even was a Holocaust, and whether or not Ahmadinejad will precipitate a second (or first, depending on your outlook)?

The cynics in Gaza get it, better than the American media and their liberal supplicants:

"I can't be optimistic until I see something tangible," said Hatem al-Kurdi, 35, a Gaza City engineer who saw parts of the interview. "Anyone can say nice words, but you have to follow with actions."

"He seems very interested in the Middle East issue but he didn't say exactly what he's going to do about it," Kurdi added.

Sorry to disappoint you, Hatem, but Americans have decided to elect a leader who knows nothing except words, having taken very little action on anything for the whole of his life. But at least you understand the difference betwen the two.

Barack Obama, unfortunately, does not. And it will be to our peril, and Hatem's as well....
