Powell Endorses Obama...

....media has orgasm, electorate yawns.

Powell's talking points are unlikely to convince any swing voters (although I am sure the media will find, or create, one or two):

...he said McCain’s choices in the last few weeks — especially his selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his vice presidential running mate — had raised questions in his mind about McCain’s judgment.
I don’t believe [Palin] is ready to be president of the United States,” Powell said flatly. By contrast, Obama’s running mate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, “is ready to be president on day one.”

Really? The Gaffe-O-Matic Senator is more qualified than the Alaskan governor? Can you explain why, Mr. Powell? Oh ! Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your repetition of the Democratic Party's talking points! Continue with your "endoresment", please:

Powell also said he was “troubled” by Republican personal attacks on Obama, especially false intimations that Obama was Muslim and Republicans’ recent focus on Obama’s alleged connections to William Ayers, the founder of the radical ’60 Weather Underground.

Stressing that Obama was a lifelong Christian, Powell denounced Republican tactics that he said were insulting not only to to Obama but also to Muslims.

Actually, it is the Democrats who are injecting race into to the campaign on a daily basis, Colin, not the Republicans (see here - you cannot say "welfare" any longer, it is a racist slur! True!). Regardless, I never saw a General before who claims that being called names is worse than being hit by sticks and stones...maybe that's why he was such an "effective" Secretary of State?

And it seems as if he still is infected with the State Department's see-no-evil philosophy as well:

Powell said a major part of his decision to turn his back on his own party was his conclusion that Obama was the better option to repair frayed U.S. relations with allies overseas.
“This is the time for outreach,” Powell said, saying the next president would have to “reach out and show the world there is a new administration that is willing to reach out.”

In particular, he said, he welcomed Obama’s president to “talk to people we haven’t talked to,” a reference to Obama’s controversial pledge to hold talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

You're entitled to your opinion, Mr. Powell, even if it sounds as if it is written and delivered as any other inside-the-Beltway line-item party endorsement. Maybe if you had made it six months ago, there would have been some courage involved, but now you just look like another bandwagon-jumping hack.

How the mighty have fallen - and when this nation buckles under to terrorrists, pirates, or any of the variety of international thuggery that's out there during the Obama Administration, we'll remember your fine words about hurt feelings being the most important thing...

Please vote for Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party's candidate for president.

Only Bob Barr opposed the bailout and the use of US government money to invest in banks, which is Socialism.

Both McCain and Obama were in favor of the bailout and the use of US government funds to buy equity in large banks.

And Bob Barr opposes Fannie and Freddie even more than McCain. Bob Barr wants to shut down Fannie and Freddie.

With the election probably lost by Republicans, it is a good time to vote on principle. Send a message to both parties that we oppose the bailout and oppose Fannie and Freddie!

Please vote for Bob Barr for President on Election Day.
