A Tea Party in New Jersey?

While all across America conservatives, moderates, amd libertarians are rising up against Obama's "socialization" of the Unitesd States, here in New Jersey were have seen...quiet acquiescence.

Garden State Patriot, in the comments in the post below, says "I think we need a NJ tea party. What say you?", and is followed shortly after by a anonymous commentator stating "Jersey never rises..."

Well, two things. I think the lack of visible outrage in Jersey is due to the fact that the conservatives in this state actually work, many in Manhattan, most in jobs that require long hours, thus making it difficult for them to organize the much-needed in-state rebellion. At least, that's the problem I face....

But it doesn't mean the rage isn't there. And in fact, Jersey has risen up in the past, and has had a "Tea Party" not dissimilar to the famed Boston Tea Party.

The year was 1774, and the location was Greenwich, New Jersey:

A British ship that was denied entry into Philadelphia tried to sell its cargo of tea in Greenwich. Worried about patriots, the British sought the help of a Tory in town. He agreed to let them store the tea in his cellar. Well, the patriots found out about this secret deal and decided to reenact the events that occurred in Boston. Dressed at Indians, they broke into the basement, stole all the tea, piled it in a nearby field, and burned it.

This part is classic Jersey as well:

The tea burners were sued twice, once by the East India Tea Company, and once by the man who was storing the tea. Little did the Brits realize 2 of the tea burners were brothers of the town sheriff, who just so happened to select the jury, and who just so happened to make his nephew the jury foreman. Nobody was found guilty The second trial was state appointed. Luckily for our band of burners, most of the jury was patriots, so they got off yet again.

Will the state of New Jersey arise again? I can't promise to organize it, but I can promise to take a sick day and show up with some serious signage....

Tea Party Madness Across America !

(bumped, with new content)

There's something brewing in the heartland, folks, something this country hasn't seen in decades. The grass roots are rising up against the redistributionist socialists whom label themselves "Democrats".

Pictures and more from the Chicago Tea Party here. This is awesome:

The Chicago Tea Party was an unqualified success. I’m not an expert at judging crowd sizes, but there could’ve been as many as 500 to 1000 people there. In cold weather, in the middle of February, without paid organizers like the left has. Not bad. Imagine if we were paying people to come like the left does!

Gay Patroit reports from LA...

The Atlanta Tea Party draws close to 300 in a downpour! Video here

Looks like things were rockin' in Nashville as well

Michelle Malkin has pics from DC, including the best sign: "Your mortgage is not MY problem"!!

Lansing, Michigan - organizers get over 250 people out into the street with barely 72 hours notice!

Some pixs from the Tea Parties in Cleveland, Houston, Denver, and San Diego can be found here .

In the bellweather state of Missouri, over 1500 came out for a Tea Party at the Arch. Gateway Pundit has it all...

Change We Can Believe In! has a roundup of pictures from protests nationwide.

And this was not just the big cities, folks - Greenville, SC had a crowd estimated at close to 2000 people:

Jeff Collins said America needs to return to its conservative roots in order to pull out of the economic downturn.
He said he blames people like Sen. Lindsey Graham, who he said is "too liberal," and that he supports Sen. Jim DeMint. "We know both parties are at fault," he said.

Collins stood on the Main Street bridge, looking down at the crowd below. "What we're proposing here is a revolution," he said.

Finally, some encouraging words for the hardy patriots:

What we are seeing now is truly huge POTENTIAL for massive civil unrest against the American government gone lunatic with spending. Realistically, 400-1000 people at a protest, even at a dozen protests across the country, will do nothing to change the minds of our idiot leaders.

However, it creates the POTENTIAL that each protest could have a million. The Orange Revolution in Ukraine did not start out with two million people camping in tents in downtown Kiev. It started with only a few hundred diehard activists.

Conservatives and libertarians have never had a strong activist base, but this appears to be the time to start. They need to capture today’s momentum and hold bigger and bigger protests every week....

You’d be surprised. Within a month you could go from 500 to 50,000.

New Jersey: Going to Pot!

Bob Ingle reports on the latest liberal trend working its way through Trenton:

Interviewed on New York (of course) radio, Corzine said he would sign a medical marijuana bill if it passes the Legislature....There is property relief in this too. People with five contiguous acres can be pot farmers and get their property taxes lowered under the state’s farming laws. They would have to sell $500 worth a year, but that should be a snap.

SInce the state legislature of New jersey is notorious for passing laws that benefit their own financial well-bieng, it should be interesting to see how many of our representatives suddenly become heroic "weed growers". After all, once "tree farmers" became eligible for a huge tax cut, many of those who have enriched themselves at the public trough - primarily in-office politicians - found a great way to reduce taxes on their overextended estates.

However, growing marijuana indoors, using the hydroponic system of nutrients and grow lights to produce a stronger, more effective product, is still a felony.

After all, everyone know a marijuana farm next door is much less of a nuisance than a small indoor lab, right?

Git yer new taxes here! Taxes! Bend over and pay 'em!

Jack Tapper lays it all out for us...If you feel safe because you are lucky enough to be making less than $250K, well, I've higlighted in red all the business taxes that will be passed on to you, thus eliminating your $8/week tax cut, and then some:

President Obama's budget proposes $989 billion in new taxes over the course of the next 10 years, starting fiscal year 2011, most of which are tax increases on individuals.

1) On people making more than $250,000
$338 billion -Bush tax cuts expire
$179 billlion - eliminate itemized deduction
$118 billion - capital gains tax hike
Total: $636 billion/10 years

2) Businesses:
$17 billion - Reinstate Superfund taxes

$24 billion - tax carried-interest as income
$5 billion - codify "economic substance doctrine'
$61 billion - repeal LIFO
$210 billion - international enforcement, reform deferral, other tax reform
$4 billion - information reporting for rental payments
$5.3 billion - excise tax on Gulf of Mexico oil and gas
$3.4 billion - repeal expensing of tangible drilling costs
$62 million - repeal deduction for tertiary injectants
$49 million - repeal passive loss exception for working interests in oil and natural gas properties
$13 billion - repeal manufacturing tax deduction for oil and natural gas companies
$1 billion - increase to 7 years geological and geophysical amortization period for independent producers
$882 million - eliminate advanced earned income tax credit

Total: $353 billion/10 years

Overall Total - 989 Billion

Notice the complete destruction of the energy industry as well. Get ready for gas lines and thick blankets, as America reverts back a century.

It's Funny 'cause It's True ! (isn't it?)

From the almighty Onion, without which we would be lost:

Thousands were left stranded at airports nationwide Tuesday, when the Federal Aviation Administration grounded all commercial flights due to the harsh, discordant squawks emitted by a nearby crow. "We apologize to all passengers affected by the cancellations, but he sounds really close," acting FAA administrator Robert Sturgell said at a press conference, adding that the nation's airport security officials have determined that the crow is in either a tree somewhere close by or possibly on a roof. "Flights across the Eastern Seaboard will resume just as soon as we can shoo it away."

In the wake of these recent air traffic delays, President Obama has earmarked $3 billion from the bailout budget to finance the construction of a national scarecrow.

Well, $30 billion is more Barack's style...and how would he pay for it? The Times is glad to tell ya:

The combined effect of the two revenue-raising proposals, on top of Mr. Obama’s existing plan to roll back the Bush-era income tax reductions on households with income exceeding $250,000 a year, would be a pronounced move to redistribute wealth ...

Sean Penn, George Clooney Now in Department of State

This has been confirmed as true:

Last night, just 24 hours before arguably his most important speech, the President of the United States and the Vice President of the United States met in private for a lengthy discussion with radical liberal "actor" George Clooney to discuss---foreign policy!

Your life, you children's life, all the money you have ever earned and saved, your whole future existence - is in the hands of rank amatuers.

No need to worry if you are lazy, perpetually unemployed, or some type of a "victim":

The Obamanoids are singularly indifferent to the productive members of society and are using this economic fiasco as an excuse to grab more power for themselves.

Still feel good about that election?

Is "The Market" Unpatriotic?

Well, how could it not be? After all, The One spoke last night and told us everything was going to be A-OK, that we can spend additional trillions and still cut the deficit and grow the economy! And the media screeched "Amen!"

The market isn't buying it. Down over 150 points and dropping as of this writing...maybe it's becuase they can read between the lines better than the average politician and/or media person:

President Obama equated his initiatives in health care, energy, and education to the creation of the railroad and interstate highway systems and putting a man on the moon. But these temporary transportation and technology initiatives created a platform for tremendous growth in the private sector. What he is proposing now is much different. He wants to create tens of millions of jobs that would have to be funded in perpetuity by tax dollars — taxing the very people who we need to create the next generation of economic growth. Forming millions of taxpayer-funded jobs is a very different vision for America than creating a climate that rewards and encourages private-sector initiative. This will take our economy in a very different direction — toward one in which the government plays the central role. It is no wonder that the stock market has lost half its value in just a few months and continues to plummet today.

Not to mention that Obama still hasn't been specific (hey, it's part of his charm!) about how he would pay for his new government-based economy. Tax hikes on the top 2%, anybody? Or perhaps on the top 50%?

The market reacts logically, to facts. And the market is reflective not just of the current economic situation, but of what the future looks to hold.

And our future under Barack Obama is looking more and more like "Dow 6000". Wait, though, it won't be his fault. It will still be George Bush's, or perhaps those greedy, unpatriotic stock traders who refuse to invest in the future of Barack's America...

While we tighten our belts...

...the Democrat-controlled government loosens theirs, and spends what remains of our money ever-so-lavishly on their victim-based constituency:

With one of their own in the White House, Democrats in Congress are moving to give domestic government agencies 8 percent more money, on average, to spend this year atop the whopping $787 billion in economic stimulus funds.

Just a day before President Barack Obama gives Congress a blueprint for the upcoming 2010 budget year, the House is taking up a massive $410 billion spending bill wrapping together the budgets for a dozen Cabinet departments through next September.

The big increases — including a 21 percent boost for a popular program that feeds infants and poor women and a 10 percent hike for Section 8 housing vouchers for the poor — represent a clear win for Democrats who spent most of the past decade battling with President George W. Bush over money for domestic programs.

Taxpayers for Common Sense, a budget watchdog group, counted 8,570 pet projects totaling $7.7 billion inserted into the bill by lawmakers.

More of this garbage is here.

All this, while Obama speaks so eloquently about cutting the budget. How's he going to do it, by gutting the military?

Don't be suprised.

AP lets truth slip through !

Really, that headline should be in all-caps, since it's so rare to get anything except liberal advocacy from the AP. Still, credit where due:

House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans.

The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls. There was no official total of the bill's earmarks, which accounted for at least $3.8 billion.

Democrats defended the spending increases, saying they were needed to make up for cuts enacted in recent years or proposed a year ago by then-President George W. Bush in health, education, energy and other programs.

So it's George Bush's fault when Congress raises spending in direct defiance of "President" Obama's recent "fiscal responsibilty" summit? Man, someone is full of sh*t here, or is it everybody that's full of sh*t?

Gateway Pundit has some of the pork for you to nosh on:

$200,000 for “Tattoo Removal Violence Prevention Outreach Program,”
Maine lobster earmark in the omnibus,
$5.8 million earmark for the “Ted Kennedy Institute for the Senate
National Council of La Raza, $473,000 earmark from Sens. Bingaman and Menendez

Ah, Menendez! When it comes to slime, Jersey always represents, boy!

But wait! There's more! Buy now (or vote without reading) and you can also get the following:

$14.5 million for National Animal Identification
$178 million for climate change research
$317 million to reduce abortions, to counter increased monies for abortions in a previous bill
$240.2 million for light rail
$7 billion for welfare housing (not including the elderly and disabled, who get a little over a $billion between them)
$120 million for "Hope" to revitalize deteriorating mixed-income neighborhoods
$5.5 billion for overseas AIDS prevention and treatment
$1.5 billion for UN Peacekeeping
$82 million for "international family planning", i.e. abortions
$2 billion for climate change research, in addition to and under a different section of the bill from that listed above

Love the monies that are being spent on abortions - let's spend to encourage and discourage!

This is how liberals spend your tax dollars....and it's only going to get worse...and worse....

Update: Meanwhile, the New York Times runs its crooked polls and shills for the hard line:

President Obama is benefiting from remarkably high levels of optimism and confidence among Americans about his leadership...Most said Mr. Obama should pursue the priorities he campaigned on, the poll found, rather than seek middle ground with Republicans...

Who'd they poll, the guys in the newsroom?

Another Billion Dollars, Down the Sewer...

While Obama gives us the song-and-dance about cutting back the huge deficit that he created, he is planning on dropping another billion dollars into a perennial cash sinkhole: the Palestinians:

The United States plans to offer more than $900 million to help rebuild Gaza after Israel's invasion and to strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, U.S. officials said on Monday.

It makes sense, in a sick Obama kind of way. In the same way that mortgage holders who borrowed more than they could ever afford to pay are now being rescued from there bad decisons by the honest American taxpayer, Palestinians - who elected the 21st century equivalent of Nazis - are being rescued from their horrible lifestyle choice (Jew-killing) by the honest, peaceful American taxpayer.

This will help Hamas, of course. Even if the aid "is not going to go to Hamas", they will claim to the people that their strong political pull got their homes and facilities rebuilt again. Who would dare argue? And what if a mere 10% of that cash - $90 million or so - gets siphoned off into weapon procurement? How many innocent Israelis will be killed due to Obama's divine benevolance?

What a twisted, sick morality the President of the United States possesses.

Character does count...

A little from column A, a little from column B...

Dan Riehl on the surreal machinations of the White House, and the Democrats, since seizing total national power just over a month ago:

It's impossible to watch Obama maneuver since taking the WH without characterizing his behavior as divisive and dishonest. Unfortunately, taking it all in, it's clear that one of two things must be true.

The Obama administration along with key Democrat players in Congress are either incompetent, or willing to risk a genuine Depression for political gain.

Sorry Dan, it's actually both. The leadership of the Democratic Party - Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid - are ideologues, and ideologues never let reality get in the way of the implementation of their ideology, no matter how many people must suffer for them to reach that end.

And it wouldn't be so damn obvious if they were even a bit more competent, you know?

Leader, or Loser?

Well, what else do you call a guy who's always pointing a finger of blame at somebody else? Wait, give the Democrats some time, they'll redefine it as "patriotism".

Barack Obama - loser:

In his brief remarks, Obama returned several times to criticism of past budget practices that clearly was aimed at President George W. Bush’s administration, suggesting the former president and his team weren’t candid with the American people about the scope of the budget difficulties.

At one point, Obama criticized “the casual dishonesty of hiding irresponsible spending with clever accounting tricks, the costly overruns, the fraud and abuse, the endless excuses. This is exactly what the American people rejected when they went to the polls...

Well, Baracky, what do you call a trillion dollar stimulus bill filled to the brim with pork? Isn't that what the American people rejected as well when they went to the polls?

You're killing us, dude - every time you open your accursed mouth, the stock market falls further into the abyss (currently down another 200+ points, and decending into the 6000 range rapidly). And instead of leading us out of the hole, you continue digging, by employing empty campaign slogans and fighting a battle that ended over three months ago. The markets see you've got nothing in your tank, or up your sleeve, and react by devaluing businesses even further.

Did you ever hear TR's famous line about speaking softly and carrying a big stick? No? Well, maybe you should just shut the f*ck up, loser, and stop blaming George Bush for problems that started on his watch but have been incredibly exacerbated by your inane economic policies and igonorant proclamations (see above).

This "Blame Bush" strategy has a shelf life of about another 15 minutes or so, Baracky...so you'd better think quick.

Obama Allows Durbin Bus To Roll Over The Jews...

Yup, the US just finished its preliminary involvement with the Durbin II conference - you know, the sequel to the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel hatefest that George Bush and Colin Powell walked out of the first time.

Well, we now have men of lesser character in charge now, who believe it it more improtant to kiss the filthy butts of the jihadis than protect the innocent from their continual advance. Anne Bayefsky at Forbes reports on the sell-out of the Jewish homeland by the Obamanites:

The Obama team was not only silent on the new "Israel is racist" language, it also said nothing when faced with Holocaust denial....

European Union delegates confirmed that their silence on the Palestinian proposal [ to criminalize Israel] was deliberate, commenting off-camera that the references to Israeli racism had already been made in the Durban I Declaration, and the purpose of Durban II is to implement Durban I.

The U.S. administration attended four full days of negotiation. During that time they witnessed the following: the failure to adopt a proposal to act against Holocaust denial, a new proposal to single out Israel, which will now be included in the draft without brackets...vigorous refusal by many states to back down on references to "Islamophobia" (the general allegation of a racist Western plot to discriminate against all Muslims), and numerous attacks on free speech.

So that's Obama's New World Order. Curry favor with the Muslims by giving Israel the "Czechoslovakia at Munich" treatment, ban all criticism of Islam as "hate speech", and give the UN legal power to implement these Orwellian codes throughout the world.

And why? Well, let's not forget a certain Obama influence who was quite unhappy about the 2001 Durbin boycott:

Powell's [walkout] was applauded by most Americans, with a few exceptions, like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who said in a sermon a year later that Washington had left Durban because "somebody dared to point out the racism" prevalent "both here and in Israel."

Note to liberals: Maybe now you should start feeling some of that "shame" for your country that you're always crying about...

The GOP, Facebook, and the Grassroots

With much congratulatory back-slapping we see that that the GOP is now has an idea-soliciting site called RNC Grassroots, as well as a Facebook group called GOP TechSummit - Grassroots, that asks for grassroot idea submissions that can be reviewed by the general party organization.

Great. While you guys collect submissions for "a Republican user-generated report that we'll present to Chairman Steele and his team for their review and implementation as they see fit", the grassroots are already out on the streets in cities across the nation, protesting scattershot against the stampede of socialism The One has unleashed upon us.

Maybe, if you are looking for some ready-made Republican recruits and willing activists, you should get away from your reports and maybe give these folks some support? Instapundit has a list of what these protests need to "push them over the edge" and into the forefront of popular consciousness, and most of them - talking points, theme, message stability, media preperation - should be able to be fulfilled cheaply and easily by the local and/or national party.

Look guys - no offense, I know you mean well and are trying to catch up with the Dems, tech-wise. But there's a moment going on right now, and with a bit more party participation it can become the GOP's moment. Obama's agenda needs a brusing body blow to halt its party-driven momentum, and at this point it's obvious people need very little coaxing to get out onto the street. Blow it now, you lose potential recruits, put the brakes on your momentum, and miss a moment that can be an early game changer.

Can the party walk the walk? The time to prove it is now...

Cometh The Insurrection !

Economic genuis and liberal messiah Barack Obama has a plan to resolve the multi-trillion dollar deficit he just burdened his nation with, and it is right out of the Socialist handbook:

President Obama is putting the finishing touches on an ambitious first budget that seeks to cut the federal deficit in half over the next four years, primarily by raising taxes on business and the wealthy and by slashing spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, administration officials said.

But don't say he doesn't support the troops, OK? Just because he's diverting wartime spending to ACORN doesn't make him any less of a patriot!

The larger questions is, of course, will his plan of taxing the consumption class (the rich) and taxing the job providers (businesses) really help lift the country out of its deepening recession?

It defies logic on the face, of course, and Barack Obama and the Democrats will tell you that you're just not nuanced enough to understand the inner working of the plan. But there's a reason socialism always fails in practice, and it will force Obama and the Democrats into a very interesting choice:

History tells us, however, that economic redistribution plans fail because the producers of society would rather not produce, than have the fruits of their production taken away and given to others. Obama can raise the tax rates on income, but he cannot force people to generate income to be taxed. People may just say "no." This resistance will not come from evading taxes, but from evading taxable income. In the end, as must all economic redistributors, Obama either will have to resort to repressive measures, or he will have to abandon his redistributive plans.

...Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress, who are so anxious to raise income taxes on the "rich," will be in for a rude surprise. There is nothing Obama can do about people who would rather not work than have the fruits of their labors confiscated, or who structure their lives to avoid taxation.

The Insurrection is lapping at our shores, with taxpayer protests - "tea parties" - sprouting up in even the bluest of blue strongholds...hey Baracky, when they're rising up in Seattle, you know you got a problem:

To paraphrase Twain, it appears as if the reports of the death of the American spirit has been greatly exaggerated....

Eminent Domain, New Jersey Style !!

I'll give you the headline and the lede, then a quick synopsis:

2-town eminent domain dispute takes new twist

An eminent domain dispute that drew attention when one town attempted to use the controversial law to condemn and acquire property in a neighboring town has taken a new turn, with both towns now apparently joining forces.

That is perplexing news for Bridget Tapkas, who along with her siblings owns a warehouse behind Beyer Brothers, a truck sales and repair business the family has run for decades in Fairview.

Here's the storyline/timeline:

-Bridget Tapkas purchases warehouse in 2007 for $1.3 million. Puts in "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in repair/upkeep.
-Warehouse is leased to the town of Cliffside Park to store and maintain its public works vehicles.
-Cliffside Park gets tired of paying said lease, exercises eminent domain to obtain property and warehouse for itself. Offers $1.33 million for property as reimbursement.
-Township of Fairview objects, pointing out warehouse is actually in its boundaries.
-Cliffside Park pulls Fairview over for a little chat. Says if it joins it in the eminent domain fight, it will split the warehouse with them and thus cut Fairview's own leasing costs.
-Fairview joins with Cliffside Park in eminent domain claim against Ms. Tapkas's warehouse.
-Cliffside Park pushes offer to $1.7 million
-Based on Cliffside Park's current lease, the property would be worth more than $2 million

Used to be a time when the government's primary function used to be to protect individual property rights. Now one might say that relationship has...changed quite a bit over recent years, to wit, it has inverted itself.

It's more about subjects and rulers now, and the ruled are beginning to learn they truly own nothing. Both the money they earn and the land upon which they live are theirs only by temporary fiat, and imnmediately revokable at any time upon their ruler's whim...

Yeah, Fat Chance

Victor Davis Hanson imagines an impossible scenario:

...please don’t tell me that the 93% of us that played by our grandfathers’ rules are obligated to come to the rescue of the 7%, who did the exact opposite. At one of your town meetings, just one, instead of pandering to those who defaulted, ask one of us to stand up for paying our debts and then say to the crowd, “Give a hand to Mrs. Battered American. S he pays her mortgage, so the rest of us don’t have to!” Try that just once.”

Sorry, VDH. The "victims" (of their own stupidity) now hold the moral high ground over those who simply work hard and play by the rules. And if you dare speak up in opposition to The New Morality, a thin-skinned, victimized White House will be there to smack you down.

Ayn Rand tried to warn us of the coming of The New Morality, and we didn't notice it (or perhaps we did, and simply turned our heads away) because it was wrapped up in fancy rhetoric and a new skin color and it had the media's seal of approval:

"It only stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there’s service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of service and sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.”

So on your knees, America. To the hopeless, to the worthless, to the victims, to the idiots, to the Democrats, to Barack Obama. They are your moral betters now...

Barack Obama, and Economic Cluelessness

How's the market responding to the stimulus plan put together by Barack Obama and his cohorts in the Democratic intellectual junta? Not so good, since the bill was finalized:

The problem with Barack Obama - long obvious to anyone except the mainstream media - is that despite his soaring oratory about the economy, he actually had no experience in wealth creation. His whole life has been an exercise in distributing other people's wealth; he has no idea at all what it takes to create the monies that he so freely gives away.

Look at his work history:

Other-funded organizing - Developing Communities Project and Alinsky's Gamaliel Foundation

Teacher at Harvard, Chicago University - organizations that survive on endowments

Author - recieving huge upfront checks, allowed him to write in the serenity of Bali

Served on Woods Fund of Chicago, the Joyce Foundation, and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge -three organizations whose purpose, again, was to distribute other people's money.

Government work - state senator, senator, President - all taxpayer funded jobs in which his primary responsibilty was the distribution of taxpayer dollars to those who could not earn it themselves.

So is it any suprise that within less than 30 days, he has steered the private sector into a freakin' brick wall? Is it any suprise that he would be in favor of a bill that has handouts to every interest group and whiny victim group imaginable, yet only provide the average taxpayer with $13/week of relief for approximately six months? Is it any suprise that he would introduce - on top of the trillion-dollar Pork Bomb - another quarter-trillion dollar plan to rescue homeowners that acted recklesly and irresponsibly, one that will be paid for on the back sof mortgage holders who saved and sacrificed so that they would not go into default?

No suprise to anyone who paid attention.

Just wait until this guy start in with the carbon-reduction scams, the gas taxes, and all the climate-change hooey. The American economy will be dead and buried by Christmas...

Give This Soldier A Field Promotion!

The video is titled "Lazy Iraqi Police get motivational speech", but, ah, that doesn't quite do it justice.

This soldier tells this Iraqi unit how it is, who they are, and how it's gonna be, with a maximum amount of four-letter words:

Dirty Harry, step aside....

Rage On The Trading Floor !

They're getting ready for a "Boston Tea Party on the Great Lake" in Chicago, as a cross-section of capitalists rage about the immorality of the stimulus bill, Obama's proposed quarter-trillion dollar mortgage bailout plan, and the overall damage the Democrats are doing to our nation...

Check out the video here.

Man, this is taking a lot less time than I thought....

Three Cheers for News Corp !

You want to know why liberals hate News Corp, and their progenies such as the Wall Street Journal , the New York Post, and FOX? Because the company is willing to take principled stands on matters of moral importance - stands that expose the cowardice of those who shirk from the same responsibilty, despite earnest claims to the contrary.

Let's move to Dubai for the rest of the story:

The Wall Street Journal Europe revoked its sponsorship of a Dubai women's tennis tournament after the United Arab Emirates declined to issue an entry visa to an Israeli player.

At a news conference in Dubai, one of the emirates, tournament organizers said they were concerned that the presence of the player, Shahar Peer, might spur protests or security problems because of Israel's incursion into Gaza.
The Journal Europe said in a statement that "The Wall Street Journal's editorial philosophy is free markets and free people, and this action runs counter to the Journal's editorial direction."

The Journal Europe also plans to pull a special tennis-themed advertising section scheduled for Monday and is withdrawing its sponsorship of a related men's tennis tournament beginning next week in Dubai.

And who is our embarrassed and no doubt enraged liberal counterpart here?

One other media outlet apparently remains a sponsor of the Emirates' restricted tourney. The Journal reports that "Newsweek declined to comment."

No suprise. The newsweeklies have become hotbeds of anti-semitism and anti-Israel bias since deciding to cater to whom they see as the "intellectual elite"; no doubt they see no incongruence between their actions and their editorial stance, at least when it comes to Jews.

Meanwhile, this is expected to continue:

A prominent group of Jewish-American leaders urged the Women's Tennis Association yesterday to punish the United Arab Emirates for barring Israeli player Shahar Peer from entering the country for a tournament this week.
The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations also called on international tennis authorities to cancel a men's tournament in Dubai next week unless the UAE allows Andy Ram, an Israeli, to participate.

We'll see. Given the mainstreaming of anti-Semitism these days, it's pretty easy to overlook this little bit of overt racism. Like 1939 all over again, even with the foreknowledge of where this ugly path takes us...

And where's our post-racial, bi-partisan president when all this is going down? Why, helping to arrange Durbin II, a repeat of the Jew-bashing hatefest that originated in the days just prior to 9/11.

Well, if the president's Attorney General is right, and we are a nation of cowards, then the yellow streak starts on top with Mr. Obama himself...

"We Are A Nation Of Cowards"

Now who said that? The madman of Iran? Osama bin Ladin? The last surviving member of Hamas?

No, no, and no. It's our new Attorney General, Eric Holder ! And why are we cowards? Because we aren't fighting hard enough against terrorism, against Muslim extremism, against resurgent worldwide anti-Semitism?

No, silly goose. It's beacuse you and I and every other gentle reader of this blog has not spent enough of their life discussing race:

"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards," said Holder, the nation's first black attorney general.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, Holder said, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."

Gee, I'm so sorry, Eric! What's the matter - Whitey hasn't come groveling before you enough, begging for forgiveness for...what, exactly? Not enough folks lining up to hear you pontificate about what it means to be black? Not enough people for your liking coming up to you and saying, "Hey, we have different color skin. Let's talk about that!" ?

What a self-absorbed little man. Dude, the nation has moved past race, and most of the younger generation doesn't even notice differences in appearances anymore. What the hell is there to talk about? That you like rap, and I like metal? That's called a cultural difference, pinhead, and part of being a melting pot is to respect eveyone's culture - as long as it is confined within the overall arch of American values - even if you do not choose to take part of it.

That's not cowardice, that's respect. Sorry if you're feeling a lack of it these days - maybe's it's because of who you are, what you've done, and who you work for? Remember - those who always cry out for respect are usually the last to earn it, ususally because they are least deserving.

So keep your accusations of "cowardice" to yourself, until the next time you face yourself in the mirror. Then ask yourself why you must cast aspersions upon all Americans for your own peculiar lack of self-worth....

Reverend Wright, Still Guiding Obama

We spoke the other day about how Obama is preparing to allow the United States to participate in the UN's Durban II "anti-racism" conference, an Orwellian named event whose real goal is to put the UN seal of approval on anti-Semitism and forward the aim of the eventual destruction of the Jewish state.

If you recall, the United States, led by Colin Powell, pulled out of the last conference (back in early 2001), disgusted by the anti-semitic hatefest it had become. This year, Canada has already declared its intention not to participate, and other European nations - such as Britain, France, and Italy - have indicated they'll stay away unless the conference's crude agenda changes significantly.

So why is that unilateralist cowboy, Barack Hussein Obama, bucking our allies and preparing to sit down at the table with some of the most hateful regimes in the world? Maybe because his mentor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, is in favor of it.

From Benny Avini's article in today's New York Post:

Powell's [walkout] was applauded by most Americans, with a few exceptions, like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who said in a sermon a year later that Washington had left Durban because "somebody dared to point out the racism" prevalent "both here and in Israel."

Interesting to see whose voice guides Obama's actions - not the American people of good will, not the Jews who overwhelmingly supported him in November, but the voice of his angry, hateful, racist minister.

That's the voice that's directing Obama to Durbin. That's the voice that will not allow him to lift a hand against Iran as they develop nuclear weapons. That's the voice that will laugh heartily from the pulpit, and screech with glee that "the chickens have come home to roost!" when the Jewish nation (and its peoples) are wiped out a by state-sanctioned, UN approved genocide.

But hey - you get what you vote for.

The Market Reacts...

...to Barack Obama's imminent signing of the stimulus bill by absolutely tanking, with both the Dow and NASDAQ down over 3% at this writing.

That's a drop of over 2000 points since he's become President, and a new low not only for the year, but for the last decade. Any chance that Obama might rethink some of his positions, seeing the way his ivory-tower rhetoric, when transcribed into policy, is absolutely disasterous?

Nah. Ideologues never care about practical results. Reality is secondary to ideology, and if it doesn't work, just pour more of the ideology on. Notice how many Lefties are saying the stimulus package isn't big enough? Wait for another two years; should the economy remain stagnant, well...let's just say you ain't seen nothing yet.

Any way we can get a re-do on the results of November 4th? Talk about a day that will live in infamy...

Feelin' "Stimulated" Yet?

Barack Obama signs the pork filled beast today, and the effects are already trickling down into the economy!

...Both consumer and investor confidence are now just a single point above their all-time lows.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures consumer confidence on a daily basis, current stands at 56.8. That's down a point from a week ago, down five points from a month ago and down sixteen points since the financial industry meltdown began in mid-September. During that time, confidence in the nation’s banking system has plummeted.

And everyone know that at a time when consumers are not confident, they'll spend that extra $13- a week you're planning to give them with wild abandon, right, Baracky?Hey - they get it, pal:

Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters nationwide believe the $787-billion stimulus plan passed by Congress will help the economy. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 29% believe the plan will hurt and 24% believe it will have little impact.
Middle-income Americans are more likely to believe the bill will hurt rather than help.

That's a lot of confidence the people have in you and your party, Mr. President, a whopping 27 days into your reign. But there is one group of Amercians that is totally psyched about the stimulus, with good reason:

By a 49% to 24% margin, government employees believe the stimulus plan will help the economy.

With over 50% of the plan to be new government spending, a lot of new workers and overtime will be needed. Theyse guys know it, and they're jumping for joy. Meanwhile, the private sector, which provides the cash for Obama and the Democrat's wild spend-a-thon, gets beaten and raped by this bill, left dazed and hurt and yet still knowing that their personal predators can come back for more, and that there is nobody willing to stop them...

Next Under Obama's Bus: The Jews!

He took more than 70% of their vote, now he's gonna sell 'em down the river (or into the boxcars) so that he can bask in the momentary idolation of Islamic despots. How's he gonna do that? By doing what, under Bush, was unthinkable:

In a major foreign-policy decision taken over the weekend, President Obama has decided to legitimize the United Nations’s “anti-racism” forum known as Durban II. State Department officials announced in a press release buried on Saturday, that starting today the United States will attend for the first time the preparatory meetings of this controversial U.N. conference. The “Durban Review Conference,” scheduled for April in Geneva, is the progenitor of the anti-semitic hatefest that took place in South Africa in early September 2001.

The searing images of the demonization of America and Jews on the U.N.’s global stage, and the terrorism in New York 72 hours later, should have made joining this revived forum for U.N.-driven hate inconceivable.

....the Durban Declaration asserts that Palestinians are victims of Israeli racism. This is also the only country-specific accusation in a document purporting to address international racism and xenophobia. Regardless of the quantity of new vitriol in Durban II's final product, therefore, participation legitimizes the mantra of Israeli racism. What is new is that the new president of the United States doesn’t care about the U.N.’s reincarnation of ‘Zionism is racism’.

With a sneer to my fellow Jews: You get what you voted for. George Bush protected you from this institutionalized hatred and anti-Semitism, and you responded by doing everything you could do weaken him, and his party. Your efforts and money has now put into power a man who will gladly sacrifice your lives for a moment's glory for himself.

Look! Over there! It's Hitler, rising from the grave! And he's...he's....wearing an armband with the Obama/Pepsi logo on it! Go, hurry up, run, quickly! Maybe he needs financial support for his upcoming run for political office! After all, how can we Jews not support him? He's a Democrat, after all...

Where Did That Million Jobs Go?

It was just a few days ago that President Armageddon himself told us that his vaunted stimulus bill would "save" or create at least 3.5 million jobs. And that it needed to be passed now, today, without delay, or the Four Horseman of the Economic Apocalypse would come riding down main street to destroy what little the Bush Administration had left us.

Well, that was when he needed to lie about its effectiveness. Now that it heads to his desk for a signature, well, the truth is coming out:

White House dampens stimulus expectations

President Barack Obama's aides warned Americans on Sunday not to expect instant miracles from the $787 billion economic stimulus bill he will sign this week, but said it would help eventually.

White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs:

"I don't think there's any doubt that we've seen this economy has gotten worse just in the last few months. The acceleration in job loss probably means that this economy is going to get worse before it gets better," he said.

Eventually. Over a trillion dollars of debt, a generational rape, for something that may help eventually. Eventually, the economy would have cleaned itself out and gotten better by itself, without a massive, crippling debt around its shoulders. Certainly, it could have gotten worse before its got better without "Porkulus" being unleashed upon America.

And about that 3.5 million jobs? Well, Obama's plan is going to miss the mark by a cool million or so:

The White House hopes the package will save or create 3.5 million jobs. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Economy.com, said on "Fox News Sunday" that was likely too optimistic.

"By my estimate, it will add 2 to 2.5 million jobs, more than would be the case without stimulus, by the end of 2010. That translates into a lower unemployment rate of about a point to a point and a half," he said.

So we'll be left with an additional trillion dollar debt and an unemployment rate of around 6% or higher. Hey Baracky - George W. Bush is sneering at you, he did better than that over the bulk of his term by half. Next to W., you're a pretty lightweight intellectual, pretty boy. A mere piker.

So why this madness? It has little to do with stimulus or tax cuts as Obama promised. Instead, it's a down payment on the Euro-style welfare state that Obama and the Democrats are hell-bent on creating, with government control into every aspect of your lives - from employment to medical to the car you drive - complete with so many niggling rules and regulations that society is force to stand still, unable to do anything without beggging government permissions.

This is the kind of world the Democrats want. More power for them, less control for you. And it's on the way, in the guise of "stimulus".

I'll end on a happy note, OK?

Obama himself said last week that if he failed to heal the economy, he would be out of a job by 2012, when he faces re-election.

From his mouth to God's ears...

Is this Hillary Clinton? Or Obama in Drag?

What she really finds so funny is that Barack Obama, itinerant President and full-time campaigner, is holding a "Fiscal Responsibilty Summit" next week. Yes, led by the man that just pushed through a package of pork whose bill will run into the trillions, retarding the growth of America's next generation. But hey - he won, right?

Sayeth Becky:

Three days later (in order to give the impression he took into consideration what the invitees had to say at this summit) the President will unveil a"budget blueprint crafted to put pressure on politicians to address the country's surging long-term debt crisis.”

But first - another trillion-plus for the banks! Then let's talk about nationalizing private 401(k) plans and raising taxes on the middle class to address the "surging long-term debt crisis"!

The aforementioned blog is a pretty interesting read - not easy for a SWM to get a grip on, but is seems quite fiscally conservative while being, ah, quite...socially liberal?

Yeah, we did kinda tell you so...

... Nicholas Guariglia says, with no gloating - just wistfulness:

...critics of Barack Obama contended he was too inexperienced, too leftist, and in a sense, too good to be true. He was, we observed, just another politician — in fact, one uniquely entrenched with Chicago corruption and archaic tax-and-spend philosophies. In other words, a less noble Jimmy Carter.

Less than a month into his presidency, this view of President Obama has been vindicated — until he proves otherwise. Hang on to your hats (and wallets); it might be a long four years.

And remember, we are only in week three, and this is what we have so far:

Iran has launched its own satellite into orbit and is mocking Obama as a weak leader for wanting to have a dialogue with them. North Korea has withdrawn from its non-aggression treaty and is preparing another missile test. Somalia is in tatters. Yemen has released 170 al-Qaeda terrorists. Pakistan has released mad nuclear scientist A.Q. Khan from house arrest. Russia is blocking supply lines into Afghanistan.

All this, before the hounds of "Porkulus" are released...

Don't Be Shy, Fellas!

The AP lists a few of Obama's accomplishments to date...in the Porkulus Project, we get:

...the expansion of computerized information technology in the health care industry and billions to create so-called green jobs the administration says will begin reducing the country's dependence on foreign oil.

"So-called". Well put.

Since taking office on Jan. 20, the president has signed legislation extending government-financed health care to millions of lower-income children who lack it, a bill that President George W. Bush twice vetoed.

....because it is the first steps on the march to socialized medicine....left that part out, guys....

He also has placed his signature on a measure making it easier for workers to sue their employers for alleged job discrimination, effectively overturning a ruling by the Supreme Court's conservative majority.

If Bush made such a law overturning a "liberal" majority, would it be an "accomplishment"? Again, most of the cases that turnn up are "alleged", anyway, hurting businesses more than sue-happy plaintiffs. But hey- what has business ever done for the economy, anyway?

But why not include the return of the Welfare Whore as an accomplishment? Or the Porkulus bill provisions that allow for the taxpayer funding of ACORN? Or the billions that will be spent buying every federal employee a hybrid?

C'mon, don't be shy...tell it all!

Big, Greasy Pork You Can Believe In !

This AP article makes note of it in paragraphs 17 and 18 of an 18 paragraph story. But Michelle Malkin, bless her heart, puts in front and center:

General Motors will receive a special tax break worth an estimated $7 billion to cover liabilities incurred when it accepted its $13.4 billion bailout from the Bush administration.
The failing automaker has lined up for an addition $4 billion in bailout funds - at which time it will no doubt ask for another mega-tax-liability waiver. The moochers' cycle never ends.

Then there's Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's Railway to Sin City. Appointing yourself a Senate conferee has its perks. Roughly $8 billion in perks.

...there's $2 billion for impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's pet FutureGen, near-zero-emissions power-plant project, $300 million for souped-up "green" golf carts for government workers, $30 million for "smart appliances" and $65 million for digital-TV coupons.

According to Hill Republicans, money for basic highways and bridges was cut by $1 billion from the House-passed level....but:
* $9 billion for school construction was added back in (originally cut by the Nelson-Collins "compromise").
* $5 billion was added to the state fiscal-stabilization fund (originally cut by Nelson-Collins), making it a grand total of $53.6 billion.
* $1 billion was added back for Prevention & Wellness Programs, including STD education.
* $2 billion was added for neighborhood-stabilization programs.

As I've reported previously, that "neighborhood-stabilization" slush fund money will end up in the pockets of left-wing shakedown artists such as ACORN and the Massachusetts-based Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, led by self-proclaimed "bank terrorist" Bruce Marks.

All told - and safely assuming the major spending provisions become permanently enshrined - the final price tag of this government hogzilla of all hogzillas over the next 10 years will be a whopping $3.27 trillion

So much for the lauded bipartisan "compromise"....and Michelle doesn't even mention the re-introduction of the Welfare Whore at $3 billion.

And what are we supposed to do? According to Barack Obama, just bend over and take it...

The Return of Big Welfare !

Well, we tired to tell you there was nothing new about this Obama guy, just another big-city liberal with a capital "L", but no - you had to go elect him president. Before he starts destroying the future - Terminator style! - he's going to undo some of the good things done in the past - done with true bipartisan suport, to boot:

...slipped into the stimulus bill is a provision establishing a new $3 billion emergency fund to help states pay for added welfare recipients, with the federal government footing 80 percent of the cost for the new "clients."

Plus, the bill would reward states for increasing caseloads, even if the growth came because the state had loosened its requirements for recipients to work.

This is radical change. States that succeed in getting people off welfare would lose the opportunity for increased federal funding. And states that make it easier to stay on welfare (by, say, raising the time limit from two years to five) would get rewarded with more taxpayer cash. The bill would even let states with rising welfare rolls still collect their "case-load reduction" bonuses.

The return of the Welfare Queen, proudly introduced as she enters stage left on Barack Obama's arm! This is Change We Can Believe In!

Fighting Terrorists Strengthens Terrorists! Oh, Wait...

That's just another line of bullsh*t peddled by the mainstream media, who can't let the truth get in the way of a convenient storyline, or hardcore liberals, who would rather die on their knees than fight - for anything.

Turns out the truth in Gaza is anything but:

A new poll by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion found that 51% of Palestinians and 56% of those living in the Gaza Strip now believe that Hamas is leading Gaza in the "wrong" direction. Only 28% of Gaza Palestinians say they support Hamas, down from 52% in a survey conducted in November, before the recent conflict.

These survey results may well actually overstate the degree of popular support enjoyed by Hamas in Gaza. We know from previous experience that polls conducted in repressive societies are often unreliable because respondents are afraid to express views critical of the government, for fear of arrest or other punishment.

The fall in Hamas' popular support does not by itself justify Israel's recent policies. But it does provide an important data point in the longstanding debate over the impact of military action on public support for terrorists. It turns out that you can cause that support to drop - if you win.

WIll the media and the Democrats revisit this long-discredited saw? Unlikely:

But clear military defeat is such an obvious setback that all but the most committed ideologues find it difficult to ignore or explain away.

And are there any better examples on the scene today of "committed ideologues" than the Democrats and our national media ?
