Mirror, Mirror, on the wall...

...who's the stupidest Democrat of them all?

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States...

...Earlier this month, Time magazine proposed a $5,000 baby bond program

So Hillary takes her talking points from the mainstream media? No wonder the editorial boards kvell over him...

And in this Corner, we present John Edwards:

Democratic candidate John Edwards offered an apocalyptic prediction for young black males:

“We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

Hyperbole much? Despite popular misperception and those who find it a convenient talking point to illustrate inescapable racism, there are more young African-American men in college than in prison.

I don't know how often we will see Nancy Pelosi asked to help out on the campaign trail:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called a plan to build fencing along parts of the Mexico border a "terrible idea" that overlooks local communities.

"I have been against the fence, I thought it's a bad idea even when it was just a matter of discussion," said Pelosi, D-Calif....
...Pelosi also touted legislation known as the DREAM Act that would make it easier for some illegal immigrants to receive higher education benefits.

And finally, even I cannot argue that Obama Barak is truly a man with big dreams...or are they hallucinations?

Barack Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe released a memo last weekend making the case that Obama's lag in national polls is due to the exclusion of a "hidden vote" - namely, the ever-elusive youth vote.

The Chicago Sun-Times' Lynne Sweet called these voters “hidden souls in the Obama Army,” and wondered whether "the campaign team for Obama can deliver them."

So Obama takes his talking points from the mainstream media? Gee, no wonder editorial boards kvell over him. Methinks Barak should ask Kerry how easy it is to pry those college kids from the bong on a off-Tuesday....

Finally, Bill Richardson's military spending plan sounds like something he worked out with al-Qaeda:

The plan lists more than a dozen specific programs that can be cut, reduced, or delayed, which he claims “will give the United States $57.14 billion per year to reinvest in urgent domestic priorities.”

Among other things, the list includes:

$8 billion from scaling back the National Missile Defense program.
$3 billion from eliminating the Pentagon's ‘Space-Based Offensive Weapons'.
$5 billion from eliminating the Reliable Replacement Warhead and Complex 2030 programs to develop new nuclear weapons.
$8 billion from reducing the U.S. nuclear posture to 600 deployed warheads, with 400 in reserve and eliminating all "tactical" nuclear weapons.
$540 million from canceling the Airborne Laser Program.

Gee, Bob, which one do I choose? They're all so damn stupid...

Seton Hall Goose-Steps with Columbia !

Seton Hall may not have an ivy-league pedigree, but it certainly knows how to steal a bad idea from their intellectual betters. Without much fanfare, they have accomplished a feat to match Columbia University's low point: Silencing of fellow Americans that don't share in their groupthink while providing an open forum for unabashed liberals and Iranian terrorists.

Red Jersey reports:

Seton Hall University has denied the College Republicans program proposal to bring author and former Congressman Tom Delay to campus citing their catholic mission as the sole reason for denial.”

Seton Hall used the indictments of Congressman Delay to say that as a Catholic Institution they could not allow the school’s name to be associated with such an event.

“First of all, what happened to the very Catholic and the judicially sound principle of presumption of innocence,”
[College Republicans Chairman Christopher] Stark wonders, “it is obvious that this University only applies its Catholic Mission when it suits a liberal agenda.”

“Congressman Delay was simply pursued by an overzealous Democratic prosecutor, while President Khatami of Iran, Wesley Clark, Mikhail Gorbachev, Kofi Annan, and numerous other liberals invited to Seton Hall each violated the Catholic Mission of the university in their rhetoric and action.”

To show clearly the bias of this university, take a look at how Monsignor Sheeran, the Seton Hall University President, characterized Iran to the school newspaper.

“We are delighted that President Mohammad Khatami of Iran will be visiting Seton Hall on Friday,” Sheeran said. “He is the president of a great nation, proud in faith, strong in its traditions, with a remarkable history and, with God’s help, a future blessed by much peace and prosperity.”

Does this mean that Khatami (and by extension, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) are more expressive of the values of higher education than a conservative congressman (er, Monsignor? That whole "innocent until proven guilty", thing - remember?) would be? Are terrorists, anti-Semitic UN leaders, and failed military men more representative of Catholicism than Tom Delay?

Interesting to note Sheeran's boast that President Khatami made his appearance at Seton Hall just one day after 9/11. But perhaps he wasn't the most ignorant or offensive person in the room on that day; an ex-archbishop of Newark displays his Jersey smarts:

His eminence Theodore McCarrick, cardinal of Washington D.C. and former archbishop of Newark, spoke at the event. McCarrick also stressed the necessity for a discussion, and quoted from the Quran to echo Khatami’s call for setting aside cultural differences.“Today, we remind all people of good will that the enemy of America is not Islam or Afghanistan, but intolerance, injustice and despair,” McCarrick said.

Yet I wonder - who is it that creates most of the "intolerance, injustice and despair" that exists in the world these days, Mr. McCarrick ? Care to answer that one ?

Of course he can't. Because he, like the misguided Monsignor (who uses the cloak of "Catholic values" to silence those with whom he disagrees), would have to look into the mirror - or even worse, their souls - and face up to the true meaning of the worldview they are pimping for.

One would think these men of the cloth would know what the Road to Hell is paved with...

Will the Intellectual Elite be the Death of Us All?

It is quite a thing; the more blatently stupid a position held by the intellectual elite is, the more they hold it up as a sign of their...eliteness. Michael Graham sums it up - If you want something done that’s really, really stupid, you need to find someone who is really, really smart. Or thinks they are, anyway:

If you’re Adolf Hitler’s agent and you’re trying to book a speaking gig, who do you call: Columbia University or the Carolina School of Straight Chiropractic?
If you’re looking for a student to slap on a circuit board and Silly Putty and head for the airport, do you ask a drunk coed from the community college or dial MIT?

How dumb do you have to be to wear your “Play-Doh and battery pack” art in a high-security area? Or should I ask “how smart?” Because there isn’t an illiterate redneck in West Virginia who would try the stunt pulled by MIT’s super-Star....
The SEC, the ACC - why, there isn’t a barber college or school of over-the-road trucking that would let a Jew-hating nut like President Whack-I-Job rant away on their campus. Your typical American university might offer credit in basket weaving and Science of Star Wars, but they do have their limits.

Not Columbia. “If Adolf Hitler were willing to engage in a debate and a discussion, to be challenged by Columbia students and faculty, we would certainly invite him,” bragged John Coatsworth, dean of the School of International and Public Affairs.

Adolf Hitler. Now there’s a commencement speaker the graduates will remember.

Seriously, is there any organization other than the Ivy League where you could hear the phrase “Let’s invite Hitler!” without immediately hearing “Dude, what have you been smoking?”

For a 22 1/2 minute exposition on the tragic character flaw of the psuedo-intellectual, I highly recommend a viewing of this Simpsons classic....

Global Cooling Alert !

Wait; I mean Global Warming Alert !

Wait! I mean...whatever is politically expediant and will generate the most attention at the current moment Alert !

Did NASA scientist James Hansen, the global warming alarmist in chief, once believe we were headed for... an ice age? An old Washington Post story indicates he did.

On July 9, 1971, the Post published a story headlined "U.S. Scientist Sees New Ice Age Coming." It told of a prediction by NASA and Columbia University scientist S.I. Rasool. The culprit: man's use of fossil fuels.

The Post reported that Rasool, writing in Science, argued that in "the next 50 years" fine dust that humans discharge into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuel will screen out so much of the sun's rays that the Earth's average temperature could fall by six degrees.

Sustained emissions over five to 10 years, Rasool claimed, "could be sufficient to trigger an ice age."
Aiding Rasool's research, the Post reported, was a "computer program developed by Dr. James Hansen," who was, according to his resume, a Columbia University research associate at the time.

....Hansen has some explaining to do. The public deserves to know how he was converted from an apparent believer in a coming ice age who had no worries about greenhouse gas emissions to a global warming fear monger.

This is a man....who has called those skeptical of his global warming theory "court jesters." We wonder: What choice words did he have for those who were skeptical of the ice age theory in 1971?

All we have heard from the left for the past eight years was that the Republicans were "politicizing science". Wouldn't it be ironic if it turns out that the ones bending scientific data for short-term fame and publicity were actually...scientists themselves?

We have always held up "men of science" as those whose actions were dictated by the purest of motivations - facts. How sad (and dangerous) to find out they are nothing more than a bunch of nerdy lab-coat wearing Britney Spears wanna-be's....

You know what? Like journalism, the sciences are another profession that had better get its house in order rapidamente, or else they will suffer the same accusations, and loss of prestige, as their ink-stained bretheran. And like the loss of media objectivity, a tainted scientific community will be a tremendous blow to the nation at large, and can endanger its very existence...

An Ugly Thought?

Well, it is just about time for The Atonement, so this is as good a moment as any to express this thought, which has been bouncing around in my head a while now...should it be for ill, hopefully I will be forgiven, but anyway...

I was first thinking about Adolf Hitler, and all the discussions, books, and movies(?) built around this question:
If you could go back in time to early Nazi Germany, and kill Hitler before he got the Second World War or the Holocaust under way, would you/could you do it ?

And so I followed this line of thought a little bit, and it brought me to the madman of Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. You know, the apocalyptical Islamist with nuclear ambitions who denies the Holocaust while winking and saying "You want to see a real Holocaust? Boy, I'm gonna show you a Holocaust!"

And so here he is, about to arrive in New York, the man most likely to be the next Hitler, maybe worse.

Can we stop him before he unleashes the 21st century's version of hell on earth? And will we speak, twenty years hence, of the question: If you could go back in time and kill Mahmoud Ahmadinejad before he unleashed the horrors of the Third World War, would you/could you do it ?

Or can we find the courage to do the deed now, to snuff out pure unadulterated evil in our midst, before it metastasizes into something uncureable and inevitable, something so dark that it will somehow touch us all?

I'm just asking, is all.

And so the fast begins...

New Jersey's Senators Shame Their Constituents...

The ugly political positions espoused by New Jersey's Democratic Senators - Lautenberg and Menendez - is spelled out clearly within their voting records:

The Senate has just passed, with 70+ votes, the Cornyn Amendment, which reads:

To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

And how did my representatives vote?

The final vote was 72-25, with three not voting. Hillary Clinton voted against condemning MoveOn, while Barack Obama and Joseph Biden did not vote.

Here are the nays:

Akaka (D-HI) Bingaman (D-NM) Boxer (D-CA) Brown (D-OH) Byrd (D-WV) Clinton (D-NY)Dodd (D-CT) Durbin (D-IL) Feingold (D-WI) Harkin (D-IA) Inouye (D-HI) Kennedy (D-MA)Kerry (D-MA) Lautenberg (D-NJ) Levin (D-MI) Menendez (D-NJ) Murray (D-WA) Reed (D-RI)Reid (D-NV) Rockefeller (D-WV) Sanders (I-VT)Schumer (D-NY)Stabenow (D-MI)Whitehouse (D-RI)Wyden (D-OR).

75% of the Senate voted to condemn the anti-American, anti-military hate speech put out by the vile liberals of MoveOn.

44% of the Democrats voted to condemn this type of vicious partisan attack on America's soldiers.

But 100% of New Jersey's Senate contingent voted to support MoveOn and their efforts to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq.

I would love for one of the local news organizations to do a poll to see what precentage of New Jersey voters (sorry, Senator Menendez, you can't count illegal residents as "voters", no matter how hard you try) would agree with their Senator's positions; and how many of them would have voted for/against the Cornyn Amendment.

But after reading this, I would find it hard to believe any poll published by any New Jersey media outlet anyway...

Senators Lautenberg and Menendez shame the people of this state, and its residents who serve their country with honor in the armed services, by refusing to speak out against - actually, offering tactic support for - liberal hate groups like MoveOn.

Are these votes simply bought and paid for by MoveOn? Are our pathetic representatives afraid of losing some, ahem, "funding"? (how New Jersey of them!) Or do they really support the MoveOn message?

Well, they may feel no shame, but I do.

They do not speak in my name...

Desecration

I can't believe this isn't on the front page of the New York Post...thank God for Canadian bloggers, I guess...via Damian Penny, we get this:

The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is indicating that he would like to visit Ground Zero when he comes to New York next week to speak at the U.N.

Police Commissioner Kelly has just confirmed that the Iranian Mission to the UN has approached the NYPD about a request to have Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visit Ground Zero when he visits the United Nations next week.
Currently, the NYPD, secret service and representatives of the Iranian UN Mission are all negotiating about the President's request to visit the old World Trade Center site.

....Commissioner Kelly says the secret service is also involved, he says he does not know what the Iranian President's motive for the visit might be.

'No,' says Kelly, 'I'm not certain that we have the rationale behind it but they have expressed interest.

I can think of plenty of reasons why a sc*mbag like Ahmadinejad would love to pose in front of the hole in the ground that was once home to the symbolic capital of The West, and each and every one of them are ugly. To allow him to dance on the grave of the thousands of Americans killed by those to whom he provides spiritual and economic succor would be absolutely sickening.

It would be nothing less than a desecration of a holy place.

However, it does appear (at least at the current time) that his request is being blocked by the wiser heads at the world's best police force:

NYPD is rejecting the request from the President of Iran to visit Ground Zero.

The NYPD is citing security reasons for the reason of rejecting President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's request to visit the old World Trade Center.

But do not lose heart, oh liberal readers! 'Cause he will get a chance to spread his hatred to an eager audience at...Columbia University, where genocidal maniacs are apparently welcomed with open arms while conservative speakers are assaulted under the benign eyes of the campus administration...

UPDATE: The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, told reporters Wednesday that the United States would not support Iran's attempt to use the site for a "photo op."

Damn right.

More Intolerant Republicans ! Oh, Wait....

Barry Manilow, synonymous with "wuss rock", refuses to be interviewed on "The View" because he might have to talk to a conservative.

No foolin':

Pop singer Barry Manilow, a major Democratic fundraiser, said on Monday he has scrapped plans to appear on the television talk show "The View," because he did not want to be interviewed by its conservative co-host.

"I had made a request that I be interviewed by (co-hosts) Joy (Behar), Barbara (Walters) or Whoopi (Goldberg), but not Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request so I bowed out," he said in a statement on his Web site (http://www.manilow.com).
"It's really too bad because I've always been a big supporter of the show, but I cannot compromise my beliefs."

...In an earlier statement to the news Web site TMZ.com, which broke the news, Manilow said Hasselbeck was "dangerous" and "offensive."

So "compromising your beliefs" to a Hollywood liberal is being "interviewed" by someone who has different political beliefs than you (and is therefore "dangerous") ? And yet the same doctrine allows you to to sit and chat and be photographed with any Middle Eastern/South American genocidal dictator who is willing to pay for your airfare? I am confused...

But a source close to "The View" said "we canceled him," because producers refused to comply with Manilow's "completely disrespectful" demands.

Good for ABC. Shame on Barry for his hateful anti-American behavior.

Substitute "black" for "conservative" and you have another Don Imus affair. But since we have a Republican who's the victim here, well....

In Summation....

Enlighten is talking about New Jersey in particular, but the point applies to the overall philosophy of the national party:

"In short, the Democratic Party is based upon taking things from people who earn them and giving them to people who don't, while employing vast numbers of public employees to administer the program at huge expense.

The taxpayers suffer much greater injury from perfectly legal policies -- such as the unequal aid given to urban school systems and giveaways to public employee unions -- than they do from bribery.”

Yeah, I think that about covers it....

Sunday Morning Quoteables !

'cause if somebody says something funny, and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

Overheard in Washington Square Park, NYC:

Orthodox man #1, seeing man walk by dressed as Jesus: Jesus!
[He and his posse begin to chase Jesus.]
Orthodox man #2: You are not the son of God!

At Blowing Smoke, we have this bit of insight:

Having half a mil's worth of plastic surgery so you'll be taken seriously as an actress is like having your vagina tightened to be taken seriously as a nuclear physicist.

And then there is this, which explains a lot in my life:

You can see a lot more amazing work from this guy here, incidentally.

The governer of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, speaks next:

...9/11...“was also a failure of human beings to understand each other, to learn to love each other.”

Care to state which human beings are failing to show the love, Deval?

Wait - that wasn't funny, just stupid, and somewhat sad. Sorry! Let's wrap up here -Tim Blair reminds all the haters:

To those who belittle the United Nations, I simply say: Fine. Have it your way. Act as though the UN doesn’t even exist. But remember, no UN means no International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

Bet you’re all feeling guilty about your stacks of Ozone Day gifts right now.

Canary in a Coalmine

It's the Jews that we refer to in our title; and has anyone checked on the canary lately? Victor Davis Hanson did, and he reports:

A new virulent strain of the old anti-Semitism is spreading worldwide. This hate -- of a magnitude not seen in over 70 years -- is not just espoused by Iran's loony president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or radical jihadists.

The latest anti-Semitism is also now mouthed by world leaders and sophisticated politicians and academics. Their loathing often masquerades as "anti-Zionism" or "legitimate" criticism of Israel. But the venom exclusively reserved for the Jewish state betrays their existential hatred.

Cowardice explains a lot. Libeling Israel won't earn someone a fatwa or a death sentence in the manner comparable criticism of Islam might. There are no Jewish suicide bombers in London, Madrid or Bali.

This new face of anti-Semitism is so insidious because it is so well disguised, advanced by self-proclaimed diplomats and academics -- and now embraced by the supposedly sophisticated left on university campuses.

Hanson wrote this on Thursday; today's Washington Post has, unfortunately, an excellent example of what he's talking about. Colbert King:

What is it with Jim Moran?...
In the run-up to the March 2003 invasion, during an event at a Reston church sponsored by a peace coalition, Moran said: "If it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq, we would not be doing this."...

Now he's at it again.

In an interview published in the September-October issue of
Tikkun magazine, Moran said that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) "has pushed this war from the beginning . . . They are so well organized, and their members are extraordinarily powerful -- most of them are quite wealthy -- they have been able to exert power."

Moran's own words:...If you cross AIPAC, AIPAC is unforgiving and will destroy you politically. Their means of communications, their ties to certain newspapers and magazines, and to individuals in the media are substantial and intimidating."

This irks King, who apparently is not on the Zionist payroll:

Having made those charges, Moran is obligated to provide evidence supporting them. He should start by naming names.
Which "newspapers and magazines" are tied to AIPAC, and how? Who are the "individuals in the media" with AIPAC ties? What does that mean, anyway?

The canard that a powerful Jewish lobby controls the media is a well-known anti-Semitic staple.

Yup. And with the exception of King, the media is turning a blind eye to Moran's Jew-hatred, because, well...let's just say, could you imagine it going unreported if these racist libels were hurled by a Republican?

And the Brussels Journal reports what happens when you display the Israeli flag in Europe:

After further inquiry, they explained that the reason for the arrest was the display of the European flag, the black-red-gold colours on a sign as well as my Israel flag. The German flag in postcard size, likewise fastened to my backpack, did not attract any attention.

....a group of policeman/law officers observed me. For a repeated time this day, when seeing the Israel-flag I was asked whether I was a Jew and why I was carrying this flag with me. Rejection was written in nearly all the faces of the police officers - two of them in the Palais de Justice mumbled something and pointed at the flag.

In the metro I sat on one of the free seats and placed the backpack beside me. The flag of Israel was bound outside to the backpack and I had to raffle it together, so that it did not touch the dirty floor. This awakened the curiosity of two roughly 40-year old men, who by their dress style and language could clearly be identified as Muslim. Unquestioned, one of the men rose and tried to seize the flag at my backpack. I quickly reacted with a strong blow to his fingers and shouted a loud and furious “Finger weg!” (German: "Hands off!")

Ah, "Enlightened" Europe.
Ah, the "Progressive" Democratic Party of the United States.

Keep an eye on the canary - when it goes, we all will....

In Defense of the Second Amendment

Via an old post from Ex-Liberal in Hollywood, we go to an even older post from Tennessee's Munchkin Wrangler, who explains to us quite deftly the moral imperative of the Second Amendment:

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gangbanger, and a single gay guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats...

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser...The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded....It removes force from the equation...and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Wow. Sometimes brevity is brilliance. I would like to hear Hillary Clinton and Jon Corzine try to debate the Munchkin on this issue.
But if they failed to persuade due to faulty reasoning, wouldn't they still attempt to use their own version of force (as in forcible disarmament of the civilian population) in order to get what they want, despite losing the argument ? And wouldn't that again prove our friend's point?

If we give away the Second Amendment, the loss of the 1st (Freedom of Speech) and 3rd (Right to Privacy) would follow in short order...

FYI: World to End on September 14th !

Since the attacks of September 11th, rumors of a Ramadan assault on America are pretty much an annual occurance. This year is no different; save for a 2007 twist: it's primarily an American/Jewish plot! Prepare for Doomsday; for its coming is...tomorrow.

Anyway, let me build this one for you - the Air Force is reporting the following:

On Sept. 14, flight lines will be very quiet at Air Combat Command bases.

The entire command — about 100,000 active-duty airmen — is standing down training flights and many other operations as part of a command-wide safety day.

Command boss Gen. Ronald Keys ordered the Sept. 14 safety standdown in the wake of the Aug. 30 nuclear incident at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., in which six cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads were loaded onto a B-52H and then flown to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., without anyone on the ground or bomber realizing the nuclear weapons were on the plane.

And upon this tidbit, the storm erupts:

Reports that five nuclear warheads were "accidentally" shipped by B-52 from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana are false.

It was no mistake; it was a criminal conspiracy to launch nuclear terrorist attacks against five U.S. cities! Military investigators have confirmed to The Hal Turner Show that President Bush's personal Presidential authorization code authorized the removal of five 150 kiloton nuclear warheads from their secure nuclear storage safes....

If a terrorist attack takes place on September 14, then we know that our own government made it possible with a military stand-down order...

Now enter the Jews, stage left:

ISRAELI AIRLINE HAS "NO FLIGHTS" DEPARTING NEW YORK ON FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 14:NOTE THEY AREN'T SAYING "NO SEATS AVAILABLE" BUT INSTEAD "NO FLIGHT"
Strange that the main airline in Israel suddenly has "no flight" from the biggest jew population center outside of Israel on the very same day that the entire US Air Force will be "standing down. A lot of people said that 4,000 jews didn't show up to work at the World Trade Center in New York on 9-11. Jews seemed to "know" some big attack was going to take place that day and they didn't go to work...

Here we are six years later, the neo-cons are taking all sorts of flak over the Iraq war; the US economy is headed into financial collapse, the jews still want the US to attack Iran but they can't overcome public opinion so. . . . . . another "terrorist attack" on the US would do the trick! Strange then, that El Al has no flights from NYC on Friday Sept. 14. . . . Is this a HINT? Do the jews know something about Sept 14 the way they seemed to know about 9-11??

Eh, ever hear of Rosh Hashanah? Highest of Jewish holy days? Any thought that it might have something to do with less demand for travel?

Hmmm....let's stretch a little further:

I went to Wikipedia and found 2 notable events that have occurred on this date in history (Wikipedia Page Here).
1 - 1948 - Groundbreaking for the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
2 - 1960- The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is founded.

Well, those are two infuriating events, to be sure...but not necessarily worth starting a nuclear holocaust over.

Although the fact that this psycho is still on the loose makes me more jittery than any cave-dwelling, burkha-wearing terrorist ever can...speaking yesterday, against a "peaceful" backdrop:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took a hard line against Israel, calling it "an invader" and saying it "cannot continue its life."

Well, he'll destroy the world eventaully, but not today. And apparently Hal Turner, the anti-semetic conspiracy theorist/radio host who started these rumors, can't seem to keep his website up when more than twelve visitors a day come by. Oh well.

And what will they come up with when the sun insists on rising on September 15th? I'll let you know...

UPDATE 9/14: Found it! Alien fleet hiding within the rings of Saturn! No doubt controlling George Bush's brain...

About That Mysterious Hole in the Ground in Syria...

Oooh, you know this is a touchy one, because the Israeli government is being awful tight-lipped, and the extent of Syria's saber-rattling has been a meek complaint to the United Nations. Many sources, many stories...

The New York Times :

One Bush administration official said Israel had recently carried out reconnaissance flights over Syria, taking pictures of possible nuclear installations that Israeli officials believed might have been supplied with material from North Korea.

Via LGF, we get a Ynet report:

...the Nazareth-based Israeli Arab newspaper The Assennara cited anonymous Israeli sources as saying that Israeli jets “bombed a Syrian-Iranian missile base in northern Syria that was financed by Iran... It appears that the base was completely destroyed.”

More, from the JPost:

Israeli warplanes targeted weapons destined for Hizbullah in a strike last week in northeastern Syria, a US government official said Wednesday, even as Israel remained silent over the incident.
The official said the target in the strike last Thursday was a site where Israel believed Syria was storing weapons from Iran heading for the Lebanese terrorist group....

...A ground operation may also have been part of the foray...

In From The Cold "confirms", if we can use that word in this case:

If you believe the Syrian foreign minister, then the Israelis flew through the heart of his nation's air defenses--apparently undetected--to strike at targets near the country's eastern border.

[ DEBKA reports further on the utter failure of Syria's new Russian-built air defenses]

The success of this particular raid suggests that despite a reported shake-up of the Syria's air defense organization, the system remains incapable of defeating an Israeli attack. And, making matters worse, the IDF raid apparently included a ground attack, featuring commandos that were (presumably) ferried in by helicopter.
While IAF CH-53 Sea Stallions have the range (540 NM) to reach distant targets, getting the chopper(s) and the commandos in and out of enemy territory was indeed an impressive feat.

Apparently, the Syrians fared no better against the heliborne element of the mission than they did against the IAF jets...As for their mission ...likely the IDF commandos were on the ground for a secondary demolition mission, or (more likely) to kill or capture high-value assets.

Juicy! I think it will be a while before the full story is known. But one can safely say that the Israeli government did engage in a pre-emptive strike to destroy weaponry that was surely destined to kill many an innocent Jew.

Good to see, on the dawn of a New Year, that the Israeli people have re-asserted their right to an aggressive self-defense...

Falling Forever

{note: the following is reprinted from a post orginally written here on September 11th, 2005. It still captures my feelings best.}

This photo, for me, is the most haunting visual from September 11th. This man went to work that beautiful Tuesday morning, perhaps kissed his wife and children goodbye, and soon was faced with a choice presented to him by Islamic terrorists: To die by fire, or to die by falling.

What went through his mind as he pondered his options? Was there ever the hope he could survive the 100-odd story fall? Or was this the American version of the ancient Isrealites' Masada, where they fell on their swords rather than be taken by the Roman enemy? Did he chose to take his own life in a defiant plunge rather than burn in his enemy's fire?

We'll never know, and it doesn't really matter anyway. What matters is that in his death, Falling Man did something meaningful, something great. He shows us, in the starkest terms, the choices being offered to us by the Islamic enemy. Peace and friendship are not present in this photograph, nor is the possibility of future existance. The only choice being offered by the Muslim Terrorist is the method by which our lives are to be ended to serve their dream of an Islamist globe.

I look at this photo and wonder how many Americans will be faced with this man's choice in the future. After 9/11, we said Never Again and Never Forget, but with the help of the liberals and their lackeys in the media the horror of that day is being sanitized, equivilized, and minimalized. Will it soon be taught that Falling Man's death was, in actuality, his own fault?

We must fight. Now. In the Middle East and wherever the terrorist calls his turf, lest he return to our soil to perpetrate his hatred again. We must ignore the sweet siren call of the Left, calling for aquiesence and appeasement with those whom want our blood. Let us turn away from the weakness of "understanding" our enemies; for I do not want the poisonous ideology of those whom caused my friend to jump to ever enter my soul.

There is right and wrong. There is good and evil. Those whom refuse to define it do not know the difference, and their morality (or lack of it) will eventually kill them.

I will define it; I will call a thing what it is, political correctness be damned. I was there; an eyewitness; I watched the buildings fall and heard the people scream; I saw more funerals at a young age then I ever imagined possible. The cry of the bagpipes echos in my head, and forever chills my heart.

Falling Man, again. He made a moral choice that turned into a symbol for September 11th. In the face of our enemy, we are all faced with a similar choice. Fight with whatever we have, or be consumed in his flames. Not happy choices, but neither were his. We cannot chose the times we are given to live in, we can only chose what we do with that time.

Let us chose wisely, then. On a day that we mourn the slaughter of thousands of innocent Americans, it is incumbant upon us to Never Forget, and to do all in our power to make sure this never happens again. Lest our generation be cursed by those that follow.

May God bless and keep the souls of those whom perished in the maelstrom of September 11th, 2001...

Osama !

That haggard old ghost; so he reappears on the eve of the anniversary of his greatest slaughter; his zenith and his nadir, all at a single point….

Now, a few thoughts on this video of his - first, is the whole damn thing just another al-Qaeda propaganda piece that the Western media has swooned over in an attempt to make anti-Bush hay?

A blogger posting at the
Booman Tribune makes a salient point that most of the media seems to have missed:

Osama Bin Laden's widely publicized video address to the American people has a peculiarity that casts serious doubt on its authenticity: the video freezes at about 1 minute and 36 58 seconds, and motion only resumes again at 12:30. The video then freezes again at 14:02 remains frozen until the end. All references to current events, such as the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, and Sarkozy and Brown being the leaders of France and the UK, respectively, occur when the video is frozen! The words spoken when the video is in motion contain no references to contemporary events and could have been (and likely were) made before the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Go check it out for yourself, Osama’s video is there; bring your stopwatch...

Over at A Chequerboard of Days and Nights, Pejman goes to the videotape, and points out the philosophical implications of Osama's diatribe:

According to the transcript, bin Laden says there are two ways to end the war:

"The first is from our side, and it is to continue to escalate the killing and fighting against you."
The second is to do away with the American democratic system of government.
"It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations."
[. . .]
"To conclude," bin Laden says, "I invite you to embrace Islam."

Pejman draws the only logical conclusion:

So it would appear that national character and personality does cause anger among the fundamentalist terrorists and that a significant part of their rhetorical attacks involve denouncing our national character.

Of course, the irony is that all of these Moveon/DailyKos/Mainstream Media/Democratic Party talking points that Osama is now espousing could possibly have been written for him by a simple minded left-coast left-wingnut:

A Californian heavy metal fan, who converted to Islam and became the first American to be charged with treason in half a century, has been fingered as the author of Osama bin Laden's latest video lecture - which left the terror chief sounding like an anti-globalisation protester.

American spy chiefs were quick to name Adam Gadahn, the head of al-Qaeda's English language media operations, as the author of large sections of bin Laden's broadcast.

Last October, the 28-year-old "loner" became the first American charged with treason since 1952, for appearing in a succession of al-Qaeda videos under the guise of "Azzam The American", in which he condemned globalisation and made American cultural references.

Is this the best big bad Osama bin Ladin can do? Poorly edited videotapes where he rants like a unemployed Berkley graduate student?

If this is truly what the "face of terror" has been reduced to, then we really do owe George W. Bush a tremendous debt of gratitude…

UPDATE 9/11: Another "new" Osama tape? More still images - interesting, interesting...
Sorry - after posting virtually daily over the last few weeks, I've got nothing. Zero. Zip. Buptkis. Nada. Zilch.

As soon as I have an original thought in my head...

The Jersey Swamp Gurgles, and Spits Up...

Red Jersey:

“NJ better start constructing some new prisons, because the old ones are going to get over- crowded with all of these Democrats going to jail.”

Our Hero, U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie:

"I thought I could no longer be surprised by a combination of brazenness, arrogance and stupidity, but the people elected in this state continue to defy description," Christie said at a late-afternoon news conference, warning other politicians: "We will continue to gather you in corrupt bunches and send you to jail."

The New York Times (you need to get about halfway in to learn the, ahem, party affiliation of those who did the perp walk today...methinks a Republican ident would have been in the lede):

Federal agents used a phony insurance brokerage as part of a sting operation that resulted in the arrests of 11 public officials in New Jersey this morning, including two state assemblymen and the mayor of Passaic.

The statement said that several members of the Pleasantville School Board took thousands of dollars in bribes from the cooperating witnesses, and that they referred the undercover agents to public officials in other parts of the state who would also be willing to take the payments.

As part of the sweep this morning, federal agents arrested Mayor Samuel Rivera of Passaic; Assemblyman Mims Hackett Jr., a prominent Democrat who is also the mayor of Orange; and Assemblyman Alfred E. Steele, a Democrat from Paterson who is also the Passaic County Undersheriff.
Federal agents also arrested five current or former Pleasantville school board members, two Passaic city council members and the chief of staff to the president of the Newark City Council, prosecutors said.

Now this is just cartoonishly pathetic:

The officials took bribes ranging from $1,500 to $17,500. In most cases, prosecutors say, they tried to keep in touch with the undercover witnesses in order to continue receiving the bribes.

“Moving forward, I have other friends in other municipalities, and I am all for getting my feet wet as well,” Jonathan Soto, a Passaic city councilman, told a confidential witness, according to a complaint. “I am very appreciative that, you know, you guys have counted me as part of the team.”

Wow. What can one add to that statement?

Not me. I'll simply refer you back to Christopher Christie's quote at the top....

Eco-Enslavement

Slowly - but oh so surely - the lid is being peeled of the "stop global warming" movement, and the hideous stench of political elitism is the first thing, naturally, to seep out. Via James Taranto's Opinion Journal (which I am having trouble linking directly to at the current moment), we get this tale of horrific hypocrisy from across the pond:

In [the London Times article] it was revealed that the leader of the UK Conservative Party, David Cameron, offsets his carbon emissions by effectively keeping brown people in a state of bondage. Whenever he takes a flight to some foreign destination, Cameron donates to a carbon-offsetting company that encourages people in the developing world to ditch modern methods of farming in favour of using their more eco-friendly manpower to plough the land. S o Cameron can fly around the world with a guilt-free conscience on the basis that, thousands of miles away, Indian villagers, bent over double, are working by hand rather than using machines that emit carbon.

Welcome to the era of eco-enslavement.

The details of this carbon-offsetting scheme are disturbing. Cameron offsets his flights by donating to Climate Care. The latest wheeze of this carbon-offsetting company is to provide "treadle pumps" to poor rural families in India so that they can get water on to their land without having to use polluting diesel power. Made from bamboo, plastic and steel, the treadle pumps work like "step machines in a gym," according to some reports, where poor family members step on the pedals for hours in order to draw up groundwater which is used to irrigate farmland. These pumps were abolished in British prisons a century ago. It seems that what was considered an unacceptable form of punishment for British criminals in the past is looked upon as a positive eco-alternative to machinery for Indian peasants today.

What might once have been referred to as "back-breaking labour" is now spun as "human energy.

Amazing. We should live in the dark, turn in our SUV's, and mow our lawns with a rusty pocketknife, so that "green" politicians can travel guit-free in their GulfStreams.

What a scam, and I pity the fools that have fallen so head-over-heels into the cult of global warming...

I think, therefore I quiver...

Watch out for the man (or woman) who cannot, or will not, ever speak in absolutes. The person who is unable to make a statement without a qualifier such as "I think", I believe", or "It seems to me" is almost always a moral relativist, and even when appearing to speak in the strongest of terms is still giving himself a get-out clause should he/she want to (or be forced to) change their mind.

Case in point: European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana thinks that he ought to condemn the "welcome back to school" present that Hamas sent to the Israeli town of Sderot - a hail of missle fire upon a toddler day-care center:

Visiting EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana condemned the attacks on Sderot, adding that on a previous trip to Israel he had been in the town as rockets fell.
"I'd like to show my solidarity with the people of Sderot," he said at a news conference in Jerusalem with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

"I know what it means, and to see today again the same experience for the people, in particular at a time when kids are in school, I think it's something that I have to condemn," he said.

Jeez, you think? Is there anything more offensive than attempting to slaughter another nation's innocent children simply for hate's sake? Javier's not sure; maybe this was some type of an Israeli provocation? So he'll say he "thinks" he has to condemn it - leaving him an out the next time he dines (or provides Euros to ) Hamas.

The inability to call a thing what it is, to stand up and call out evil without a qualifier, is a deadly moral failing. The enemies of the West have no such doubts; and they'll use ours to skewer us with...

The United States of...Mexico?

Well, I guess that is the way Mexican President Felipe Calderon sees it; not surprisingly, he is the biggest champion of the "America sans Borders" lobby:

Mexican President Felipe Calderon blasted U.S. immigration policies on Sunday, promising to "redouble" efforts to protect the rights of the millions of undocumented Mexicans living in the U.S.
"Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico," he said. "Mexico does not end at its borders."
The criticism, which came during Calderon's first state-of-the-union address, received a standing ovation from the crowd, gathered in the National Palace.

"On behalf of the Mexican Government," he said, "I strongly protest the unilateral measures taken by the United States Congress and Government...."

He also expressed adamant opposition to the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border.

No doubt. How rude of us to unilaterally decide to patrol own own borders...where's Human Rights Watch when you need them? Oh, wait, they are in the Middle East, protesting against Israel's right to enforce their own borders....

Calderon does have an amen corner in the United States:

Hundreds of thousands of workers [?] will lose their jobs as a result of the federal government's crackdown on companies that employ illegal immigrants, business lobbyists predict.

This will lead to severe labor shortages in some industries and eventually weaken the overall economy, they contend.
"It's a disaster for us," says Craig Silvertooth, a lobbyist for the National Roofing Contractors Association.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a regulation this month that's designed to make it harder for illegal immigrants to use phony Social Security numbers to get a job.

Imagine the gall, trying to prevent people whom have crossed our borders illegally from using falsified government documents!

Mr. Silver Tooth, can I bust out the world's smallest violin just for you? Or are you already at the United Nations, pushing for a resolution of condemnation against America for daring to enforce its own laws?

My lord....still, it brings me back again to this....

"Jersey Rules"

No, that's not just some nativist chest-thumping, but the judgement passed by the New York Post's man in Iraq, Ralph Peters. In a report charmingly entitled "What Exit? Fallujah !", Peters tells us:

If you're sleeping safely in your own bed tonight, thank those Marines from "Joisey."

Great to see respect paid; too bad that New Jersey servicemen and women of all stripes are being respresented by cowards and lowlifes - such as Senators Lautenberg and Menendez, as well as dhimmi congressman such as Rush Holt - who are doing everything they can in a furious, desperate attempt to undermine the hard work these soldiers are doing, in order to turn an American victory into defeat, and in doing so salvage their own miserable political careers...

Am I questioning your patriotism, ladies? You'd better believe it....

"Tonight - We Dine - In San Diego !"

Tom Tancredo, a Republican congressman and presidential candidate, said at a debate in June that immigration calls into question "whether or not we will actually survive as a nation."

Which brings me here...this is just way, way too funny:

Mexican 300

"This...is MEXICO!"
